  1. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:06 AM) He's killing us. That may have been the biggest, saddest out of the season. The ease with which he can be had low and away OR up is scary. Can we see him, Dunn, Rios, Morel etc. with someone besides Walker??? Whenever I watch a game on TV, Beckham is always fouling the ball straight back. Then he ultimately whiffs or hits it unhard right at somebody. Has anybody else noticed all the meaningless foul balls? Is it all that stupid hitch? You are always gonna be late when you hitch like that. Result? Foul it straight back. He's a mess. I wonder what his BP will be at season's end.
  2. Why did Sergio plunk that guy? I can't turn up the sound at work. The pitch was steered right in his back.
  3. QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 03:59 AM) This is the worst game thread I've ever been a part of. When the Sox play this badly at home again you have to expect it. We're only halfway decent on the road. Was that intentional? Sure looked like it.
  4. If the National League is that much inferior we should do them a favor and trade Rios/Becks and Dunn to the NL. Oh wait, two of the three are untradeable cause we're paying them so much.
  5. Is Beckham now in the Rios/Dunn territory of badness? Does he ever do anything at the plate? He is so bad.
  6. Beckham hits a ton of foul balls. Then he finally blows it normally.
  7. Omar is making me look bad tonight with 2 hits. I thought he sucked.
  8. Where is Ray Durham now? Would he be a good candidate for hitting coach?
  9. I miss the Lexi who could carry a team for a while on his back.
  10. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 03:43 AM) I am looking forward to the end of the Guillen era. No manager besides him and his gut would continue to bat Dunn 4th with the way he has hit this season. Rios keeps finding himself into the lineup for whatever reason. Guillen was given the green light to ignore contracts, yet keeps trotting out the same guys who have destroyed our season. True dat. We prolly should be pinch running for Dunn here.
  11. If we lose tonight and dip one below .500 does that finally show everybody we're not a contender? Teams that trot Adam Dunn and Rios out there every day cannot expect to win anything of significance. I think it's that simple. Add our other guys who are having bad seasons and u get this putrid attack.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:32 AM) He's the epitome of a mental midget. All the warning signs were there going into last season. That sucks. He's really a lousy hitter at this juncture. I can't believe how bad a hitting team we have, especially at the Cell. Our hitters truly blow.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:29 AM) The problem is he's having terrible at bats. I can't see how a young kid like Becks thinks his approach at the plate is a winning approach. When he watches tape why can't he see his approach is a joke?
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:25 AM) Problem lies in that he was drafted for OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. Yeah I know. His season has killed us. With Dunn and Rios as pathetic as they are, we couldn't afford Becks to be an easy out as well.
  15. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:18 AM) The Indians radio crew making note of the significant hitch in Gordon's swing. He defnitely shouldn't be considered a prime prospect anymore. You can get a second baseman to do what he does offensively about anywhere. Though he is damn good defensively. I can't believe how bad a team the Sox are at home. Another big series and looks like a 1-2.
  16. QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:08 AM) Frasor pitched alright there. You guys are nuts. He wasn't the one that got into the jam. He minimized the damage. We don't like him walking a run in.
  17. Inexcusable for a relief pitcher like Frasor to walk the run in. What a joke.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 01:58 AM) Of the top four teams in this division, Cleveland is the one I am most sure won't win. Why? IMO they are way ahead of the Sox. Better baseball team IMO.
  19. I think Cleveland wins the division. Detroit 2nd. Chi or Minnie third.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 01:40 AM) I think the workload may have caught up to him. He really hasn't pitched all that much recent years. Who knows, maybe this little break is a blessing and the breather he needs to come back strong. He has to be yanked from the rotation. I'd pick his spots in middle relief. Maybe even some late-inning setup work. He's literally going to get killed out there with the stuff he's bringing to the mound. And I don't mean 'killed' to be insensitive. I'm glad he appears to be OK. I would think his eye is going to swell up badly Lousy at bat by Rios.
  21. That was scary. Getting hit in the face with a line drive is damn frightening. I am so glad he appears to be OK. I don't mean this to sound bad, but Humber is not the same guy he was the first half. He's going to get killed out there. I wonder if the Sox are going to have to shut him down. How can a guy just simply lose it in mid August? His pitches are scary hittable right now.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Seriously, we're reshuffling the rotation now because of the powerful Cleveland lineup? QUOTE (shlammajamma @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) Well captain arrogance, Rios played plus RF most of his career with the Blue Jays, while playing abysmal CF defense this year. I even remember somebody on the score saying that Rios said he feels more comfortable in RF, since it's his natural position. You tell me, has Rios looked better than De Aza in CF to you? 1.) Great point. Cmon fathom, you pitch the guy whose turn it is to pitch. .500 teams don't need to shuffle anything. Just take the field and try to win. 2.) LOL at the captain arrogance. Good luck calling mod's captain arrogance around here. You may be in trouble. Good argument, though. I prefer DeAza in center over Rios cause IMO Rios is a dog.
  23. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) I can't wait to see all of you Dunn doubters eat crow next year when he hits 40+ homers. This year is just a fluke. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) Anyone else feel like there's no freaking way we're winning tonight? Under .500, here we come! 1.) I hope you have been spared watching him bat as many times as most of us have this year. He's an automatic out. It's going to suck hearing statements like yours all winter. Sox have to take that approach to sell tickets. They'll say it was the appendix and this year will be the return of a good Dunn. 2.) I love what Humber did early. I just think he's gonna get rocked tonight. 9-3 Cleveland.
  24. It's going to be a long offseason and next spring training with the Sox saying how good Dunn looks and how this year was a fluke, etc., and he's expected to return to 40 plus homers. He ain't getting any younger.
