QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) Anyone still think we win this division? Aside from Greg Hibbard? No. This team has never been in contention. It has not once since the first week or so acted as if it was playing for anything. Certainly you agree with me on that.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) Twice he came up with the bases empty, twice with Konerko on first. So basically, you are asking for a home run and nothing else, cause that's the only way he can get an RBI in those situations. Dunn's basically trying to hit a home run every time up, so it'd be nice for him to hit some.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 06:53 AM) I chuckle remembering all the posts regarding Beckham should be our #3 hitter for many years to come and as a all around stud with the bat. Pffffffffffft... I remember when he was blasting gappers and had all those doubles. Now he's a joke at the plate.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 05:57 AM) Absolutely no one saw this coming. Rios has never been anywhere near this bad and that includes his last season in Toronto. Hitters come to the White Sox and get worse. It's been happening for 5 years now. Something has to change. Beckham may be a mental midget but that's what the coaching staff is there to help with. The kid comes in and looks great and within two short years of White Sox coaching he has one of the worst approaches I've ever seen at the plate? It's time to run Ozzie and Walker out of town. Everyone get out your pitchforks. I'm OK with that, but add Kenny too. Aren't you sick of seeing a guy get a hit with a man on first and no way in hell the guy is going to advance to third? I mean I still want some big home run hitters, but there's got to be a happy medium. Kenny's everyday players aren't that good.
-
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:42 AM) Maybe if this s*** didn't happen every year. Kenny gives Ozzie the most talented team in the division every single season and Ozzie does f*** all with it. Not to say I really want KW back but this is more on Guillen and I'm sick of this underachieving bulls***. I don't know about most talented team. Rios is a dog. Everybody knew he was a dog when we got him from Toronto. Dunn is an automatic whiff. Like fathom said, Beckham is a mental midget. Maybe you can blame Ozzie but I think our talent is not that great as well.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 05:20 AM) If Hawk retires before he dies, I'd like to hear what he really has to say. I heard Hawk a week or so ago say on the air this was the most frustrating sox team he's ever covered. Compared to announcers on all the other teams, he's like Howard Cosell. You won't hear a peep of negativity from the Royals announcers. Most announcers are total shills. You may hate Hawk but he's OK.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 06:54 AM) If this front office (at least the coaching staff) isn't completely overhauled I'll probably get thrown out of Camelback Ranch at least 3 times this spring. I'll be the biggest asshole out there...guaranteed! Can they eject you for heckling Walker n Oz?

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:45 AM) 12 left. It's almost over, folks. What a crap season. It hasn't been fun. Hopefully next season will have some drama. I really thought we'd score runs this year. After we signed Dunn, everybody was pointing out we'd have potentially a run-scoring machine with a lineup with Konerko/Dunn/Quentin/Rios/Becks/Lexi/AJP. It's the kind of lineup that sounds dreamy in the offseason, but not so much when live pitching is thrown at those guys.

QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:39 AM) Did you see the Indians catcher with the huge fist pump right behind Beckham's head immediately following Beckham's K? It was over the top. That's why Sergio hit the first batter up. I liked it, but I would've liked a win a whole lot more. This team just isn't going anywhere. That's the sad reality. Oh, and it looks like Beckham will turn out more like Mark Ellis than the perennial all star that some of us thought he'd be. Sobering night. That's pretty impressive. Sergio really truly plunked that guy. It stung too. That was a good heater right on the arm/back. Sobering is a good way to describe the Beckham situation. I thought he'd be a great hitter for 15 years. So much for those who say our pitchers hitting guys can wake up our team. We went down feebly in the bottom of the ninth even after Sergio's fastball off the flesh. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:35 AM) That's a lot of what could be false assumptions. If by chance LaRussa were to come here what makes you think he wouldn't keep Walker? He did play under LaRussa. QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:38 AM) You think he would follow ozzie? I always thought of him as his own man. 1.) Hopefully LaRussa realizes Walk is overmatched. I honestly don't think it's going to be LaRussa. Hopefully it's not just Cora. I want some old guy who will be willing to bench Dunn/Rios and even Becks if Beckham hits like this. Second basemen can't hit sub .250. 2.) I would think if Coop can't land a managing job he'd go with Ozzie. I would think Oz would really persuade him. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:32 AM) Simply put no hitter has gotten better under Greg walker and almost all not named konerko have gotten worse Well, at least we know he'll be gone next year as well. The new skipper won't keep him. Should be interesting to see what the franchise is like with new manager/hitting coach/GM. Unfortunately we probably need to keep this pitching coach, but he'll probably be off to Florida with Oz. -

QUOTE (shlammajamma @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:30 AM) How does that make any sense? Just because two players we brought up from the minors have been playing well doesn't mean another player will play well. Danks strikes out far, far too often. I meant maybe our few 'prospects' that people have heard of and are on the big-league radar are actually decent and he's another who will make it. -
Why move Stewart to the pen instead of Humber?
greg775 replied to shlammajamma's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) If you believe in Humber for 2012, you have to push him past this point to build him up for next year. He has been at pretty much the same innings plateau for about five years now. Can't we just give him Ohman like innings in the pen? Use him a lot? I really think starting him is akin to an automatic loss the rest of the way. Don't you agree he's that bad right now? -

QUOTE (shlammajamma @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:27 AM) I don't want Danks 2 in center, thats for sure Is Danks II that bad? We've had good luck in bringing up DeAza and Flowers so far. Maybe he's good as well. -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 04:22 AM) Let's see if another coach can help him out. He has regressed with the current deer stand buddy. Yes, hopefully the new hitting coach will be forceful, laugh in his face at his stance/approach. That should humble Gordon into taking the new hitting coach's suggestions to heart. Hopefully the new coach will just say, 'Look everybody in the league is laughing at what you are doing with your talent. Here's a better stance." Walker probably acts like Gordon is close to being a good hitter. He needs a revamp. -
From my vantage point, he hasn't hit a dinger in a while. I think Lilly's hit 2-3 dinger since Dunn's last one. Cause isn't Lilly just one behind Adam?
-
It's pretty obvious Oz is off to Florida. I don't want LaRussa. I wonder who would be the best choice. It has to be somebody who is not afraid to make really tough decisions. Our new manager has to turn Dunn/Rios into bench players/subs. That's not easy for a first-year manager. So it probably should be an older guy. One year of McKeon? Dusty Baker? Cito Gaston? What old guy can we hire?

Humber takes line drive to head, removed from game
greg775 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:52 AM) Humber is a badass for wanting to stay in. That was neat. He is a gamer obviously. But had he stayed in, he truly might have been killed. The current Humber is not the first half Humber. He needs to leave the rotation for middle relief or situational relief NOW. -

It's like we're held prisoner for the future since Oz won't take KW on his offer to sit Dunn and Rios. I hope our new manager is willing to sit the two of them next year. They HAVE to be subs. Do we have any other candidates for 2B next spring training? Can DeAza play second? Switch him over and Danks II in center? -
