  1. Fair enough, I deleted my post on that topic.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) I recognize it as kyyle being kyyle. So what's the difference? Cause they won't let me be me without a reprimand, so when I get insulted, I will mention it back as well. Guess who didn't even chime in on Bobby's performance last night?
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 12:00 AM) Putting him in the 9th spot, even when he has been hitting better, can't be too good on his confidence. Thing is, you and I don't know if Ozzie hitting him 9th is good or bad for him. Hell, nobody truly knows. But from the looks of his numbers since the ASB, moving him up would be a good idea. He can't be getting any good pitches to hit with Juan Pierre behind him. He got a good one to hit last night. Bam.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 11:55 PM) No not really. Uh, really. As far as Ozzie/Beckham, what is so hard to believe that the manager is a big key to his turnaround? Uh, most everybody on this board wanted him back in the minors. Ozzie lowered him in the order, but kept him up here, and last night's bomb was beautiful. What a blast. Oz, in fact, is at his best supporting players. That's part of being a manager as well as the sabmermetric crap.
  5. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) You are aware of who makes the lineups aren't you? How do you know he's not doing well because of the way the manager has used him? The manager has had faith in him all season when just about everybody on here wanted him sent down to the minors. Read the old threads.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) Haha, you're upset about this but not upset about Ozzie telling the fans to stop watching the f'n games if they don't like his decisions? Most of our fans realize it's just Ozzie being Ozzie. Sox fans that watched him as a player and a manager know he says a lot of things. One of the great things about him is how worked up he gets. On here? I don't need some guy who thinks he's all hot s*** telling me off by telling me to take my ball and go home if I don't like his insults.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) This. It's fine to ask questions, but you also have to bring some of your own research to the table once in a while. I actually have given my take on this but thought it would be a good thread. Obviously a good thread is no thread this season on here, except in the non baseball areas where the discussion is civll and actually pretty awesome like on the Blago thread. My take was that as the biggest and best city in the division and the team to have the most recent WS title, teams get up to play us and we pretty much sleepwalk vs. the teams in the Central. I'm not always big on the mental aspect of baseball, but arguably teams really get up for Chicago, evidenced by how many teams in the division throw at our hitters. So many people are commenting on what I do and don't do I'd think they'd remember my position on this matter since they seem to know so much about my posts.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) Pena was "closer of the future" and Liney was the set up for a while until the second half of last year. I think Threets, Sale, and Santos can hold down the fort with some Pena thrown in to get the ball to Bobby. Harrell and Linebrink will have to fill the long relief role. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) I believe Kenny is telling the truth. But does anybody else here wish that they actually TALKED on the phone, as opposed to exchanging a few texts? A conference call between Kenny, Ozzie and Coop, in which they discuss pros, cons and feelings about the situation, would seem to be more effective and leave less room for misunderstanding than short texts. Hasn't Santos been unreliable of late? Sale might be the key. Who cares if they texted or talked? They got the message across to each other just fine. They hate each other anyway. No need to speak to each other.
  9. Good points but I still don't think people that are "admins" should insult people who are just trying to uh, start a new thread once in a while. Real crime to start a thread that guy doesn't agree with. Why doesn't he send me a PM rather than start something by insulting me. He could ask me in the PM to kill the thread if it was so bad and I'd have killed it. Don't worry I won't be starting any more threads.
  10. The wrong call was not made. The correct call was made. You do not walk a righthanded hitting weakling with your righthanded pitcher to face a lefty. You just DON'T. I'm right on this one. Jason Kendall? Are you serious? Has he ever been intentionally walked in his life? The man is a horrible baseball hitter with probably the least amoun of pop in his bat than any regular in baseball. If anything, the outfield should have been in closer. That's right, Oz gets the blame for positioning the outfielders so the Oz haters win that argument again.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) Ha, take your ball and go home then. The sabes people can figure things out and stuff and make new threads about it. How can somebody in authority on a site be so rude? I don't get it. That's like a manager of a restaurant telling you to f*** off if you don't like the uncooked steak.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) Basically yes. The defense hardly presented a case. Wow. What a waste of effort. Was the final defense talk to the jury this simple?: "Ladies and gents of the jury, my client is an idiot. He, in fact, is a moron, who runs his mouth and for some reason has a huge ego despite that ridiculous haircut. This man is not a criminal. He is ego driven, but basically stupid and harmless to society. He's also now out of money and out of office, so let him go. Thank you, jury."
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) Kendall also owns Linebrink in his career. And I don't consider someone making 4 million dollars as being overpaid. That happens with numerous relievers. Fathom, you know darn well you'd have crucified Oz had he walked one of the weakest hitters in baseball to get to Kila, a lefty, and Kila gotten a hit. You just would have. Please admit it. That said, I do like the fact you are willing to criticize Rios. As far as his salary, $4 million and no highlights the past two seasons. He is pathetic. He's the Kotsay of our pitching staff.
  14. I have my take on it. I was asking for others' takes. What is a message board for? Oh, I know. To never have a new thread. My post was no different than having a poll. I just didn't make it as a poll.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 10:02 PM) He's saying you should do more research on your own instead of asking everybody. I give up. For a mod to post what he did, to discourage discussion is beyond me. Thanx for your post, chw. I read your take.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 12:25 PM) why do you always ask other people to figure things out for you in posts? Why would you waste your time with a post like this? Did my post offend you? You start a post to get some discussion going on here and a mod tells me that? Is trying to be educated against your beloved rules? I'm glad you aren't in charge of bringing traffic to my business. Thanks for the posts caufield and chw. I read yours. Thanx.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 02:11 AM) Kila is terrible! He's this board's version of Hawk's crush on Randy Ruiz. If Ozzie would have f***ing walked Jason Weakling Kendall and pitched to Kila and the lefty Kila beat us, which he would have, Ozzie would have been fried on here (and rightly so). I repeat, Kila would have hit one of the longest home runs in KC history. Jason Kendall is a weak piece of s***. Linebrink can't retire Jason Kendall with the game on the line? We deserve to lose. You don't pitch around a weakass righty to face a lefty there. There have been some bad overpaid players in Sox history, Linebrink is right up there with the worst of them.
  18. Barring a miracle, the White Sox will not win the Central again this season, primarily because of the team's play against Minnesota, Cleveland, KC and Detroit. The team also sucked against Central teams last year. The question is why? Are there any statistical reasons the White Sox reek against their Central rivals? Do the opposing hitters in the division stack up well against our type of pitchers? Do they have us scouted well? Do their pitchers understand what it takes to get the Sox out? Or is it simply the fact the White Sox are the only team in the division to win a World Series in a while and opponents simply want it more than the Sox do every single night when the teans play? Is it Ozzie getting outcoached by the other skippers? What is the reason for the White Sox ineptitude vs. the Central?
  19. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Ah, yes, the typical senile old man post. Yes, greg, I'm terribly afraid that 5'11 slap hitting ex-MLB player in his late 40s would viciously beat the s*** out of me. Greg, you're a wonderful poster because your posts, without fail, always reach a level of pure, crystallized stupidity and ignorance that one simply has to admire. Someone who calls a well known journalist a homophobic slur is not a smart person. Someone who criticizes his indirect source of income by telling them to go f*** themselves and to not spend money on his team is not a smart person. Someone who lets his spoiled brat of a kid badmouth his boss is not a smart person. While I don't expect to have a conversation with Ozzie about Kant's categorical imperative, I would expect Ozzie to rise above his current conversational level, which can only be described as Highlights for Kids with profanities. What's so ignorant about saying Ozz would want to beat the heck out of somebody who called him what you did? I guess you could get in a few punches. Maybe you'd win the fight. I didn't think that through. I'd have to see your height, weight. His rage, however, at being called what you called him would probably give him the edge. You'd be defending yourself; he'd be slamming you in anger. As far as Oz not being a "smart person" uh, ,hasn't he received job extenstions and raises in pay, since some of his outbursts? Uh, he's not in danger of being fired as long as Jerry is primary owner of the team. I'd say he's pretty darn smart. Smart enough to get raises after uttering some of the comments you say.
  20. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) I didn't know this until a little while ago when I heard it on the radio driving home from work: Apparently Jason Kendall was hitting .560 career against Scott Linebrink. If that's the case, Ozzie should have known that and should have walked Kendall in the tenth to get to the rookie Ka'Aihue who was batting around .150. I was waiting for Linebrink to face Kili who would have hit Linebrink's offering so far it still wouldn't have come down. Linebrink is the most overplayed pitcher in the history of the organized workforce.
  21. I guess you just won't believe me and I live out here. We have had MANY STORMS that didn't Topeka, Lawrence, Olathe and never hit the K. If they canceled every game where storms were coming then the Royals wouldn't have a season. Why you believe Ozzie should have played God and started Linebrink is beyond me. They started the f***ing game. You play the cards given you. It's modern baseball's fault Jackson couldn't go in the DH. It's f***ing absurd that pitcher's can't pitch the following day after merely warming up and throwing a few pitches. But that's the way it is. The fault of this matter goes to . a.) God for creating thunderstorms that knocked out power at the K. The rain actually stopped. There could have been baseball at 9:30. b.) Joe West. c.) the pussification of America. Babying pitchers and they all get hurt anyway.
  22. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) If the White Sox gain 1 game on the Twins in every 7 games they play, they will force a tie breaker. The key is they can not afford to go beyond 5 games back. The Twins are bound to come back to Earth eventually. Hopefully when they do, they will hit hard times kind of like how we did after our hot streak. The fact of the matter is. Its not over yet. Not even close. Obviously if we can continue to play ball like this we are in BIG trouble. But I truly believe this team has one more serious run in them. Call me peter positive but this team seems to come back to life when they are on the verge of extinction. I think Kenny Williams is going to add to the pen AND add a significant bat to the lineup. He knows he has to at this point. All arrows are pointed toward Manny Ramirez. If that happens, it will be a lethal injection to a struggling lineup. Isn't Manny hurt? I don't know why, but I'd just stay away from that guy. I guess he could be rejuvenated again, but he seems too Jose Guillen-ish to me. He seems to be a headcase of the first degree.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) I'm going to agree with Greg here. He's shown to make a lot of mistakes as a manager, and I don't think he should have the job anymore, but he's far from a "stupid human being". He knows more about the game than anyone here, in the overall view of things. That's a good post. I agree that in "the overall view of things" Ozzie Guillen knows a lot about the game. You can nitpick about his bunting philosophy and all that, but the man knows baseball whether some on here believe it or not. And he'd kick your ass for calling him a stupid human being if he saw you on the street.
  24. I remember hearing a guy call Les Grobstein's show one night when we were red hot and he said, "I can't see us dropping off the rest of the season." As usual, everybody got fooled during the 25-5 run. Players thought we should stand pat; KW couldn't pull the trigger except on Berkman deal that Berkman nixed and the Jackson deal which was dumb. That deal meant nothing. Pitcher for pitcher. Our leadership needed to make a couple moves, not just one, and didn't. So we sit at home in October. Sucks. It baffles me why teams are so eager to trade in the winter and can't pull the trigger during the season. It's such a marathon. We were in it at the break and made no attempt to get better.
  25. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 05:28 PM) Ozzie Guillen better learn how to put a trap on his piece-of-s*** kids' mouths. Why? There's freedom of speech in this great country of ours. I welcome reading the tweets of his kids. Kenny's a big boy. It has nothing to do with the team.
