Can anyone recall a more gut-wrenching few weeks?
greg775 replied to ILMOU's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That was the worst stretch of being a sports fan in my life. It was pure agony. Also exciting, but very agonizing. This team is acting a lot like last year's team. That road trip where we got our ass handed to us by NY, Boston and I think it was Minnie last year was really s***ty. Really pissed me off. This team just doesn't have it. -
Balta's thoughts are mine exactly. We know your speech when you are carving the turkey. You've printed it for us here. But it was a nice post nonetheless I guess.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) I love it. Who the f*** would have pitched? Who did you trust in the pen THEN (i.e. not Sale). Who? Linebrink? He was going for the win and it failed, I'd take Thornton with 15 pitches going into the inning over anyone else in the 'pen that night. Thornton threw 18 pitches and it didn't even sniff his longest outing of the season. Please find some other random occurrence to b**** about with Ozzie. Amen brotha. You are my kind of poster.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) You should never make enemies with the people who can decide your fate. Unfortunately, Ozzie's not that smart when it comes to that stuff. Sorry for the three threads in a row but I was just reading the game thread. All this criticism of Ozzie for stuff like this is insane IMO. If he didn't argue or rip umpires then people would say he doesn't stand up for his players. You know why we lost today? We couldn't get a clutch hit late when we got the guy to second base. f***ing Linebrink walked the guy. How many times have walks come around to KILL US? He walks the fastest guy on the Royals who gets to third base in a hurry and scores on the bloop. Linebrink may be the most overpaid employee in the history of employees. But as far as you ripping Ozzie for ripping on umpires???? All good managers speak up EVERY TIME they think their players are wronged.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 09:41 PM) And this season is OVA!!! You might be right, but I don't know if it was you or 15 other people who wrote the same thing in May. This game is OVA and this season is OVA are simplistic statements of opinion, not fact.

I knew we were in trouble the minute somebody said before the first game, "it will be a bitter diappointment if we don't sweep." Yes I am superstitious and yes I knew we were going to lose the series after somebody said that. What is our record against the AL Central? We don't sweep Central teams on the road, except when we are in a once in a lifetime 25-5 stretch.

Gotta run; it's 3:30 sunday and got to go somewhere; hope we win.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) Greg, so you agree with the continued use of bunting as well as numerous outs on the bases? Yes with man on in eighth and none out, why not bunt him over? Then you have 2 chances for clutch hit.
-
It's funny how fundamentally different some fans are. I blame the players; many blame the manager. No cllutch hit equals misery today.
-
No clutch hits for the White Sox. Bummer.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 09:20 PM) When he's not injured at least. Or hitting somewhere around .250 Getz was ok last year, sucks this year. Sabes people can say he sucks; Royals fans get some joy from watching him play in another season of no joy.
-
A "successful" stolen base is always the right move. Problem is it aint always successful.
-
That's why the fans here love Getz. It's not always about sabes numbers. He is a good guy to have on a team, folks.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) We currently have a 42% chance to win this game. Sweet. Sqwert was correct. I don't see how the odds are that good with Zack on the mound.
-
The former Sox is 2-2. They always come back to haunt us it seems.
-
I'll stick with my 7 percent odds, also considering the home team has a great advantage to begin with.
-
This is not good obviously. But Bobby vs. Linebrink is not a good choice either way.
-
OK baseball stat people. They are into our bullpen; we got to face Zack and then Soria. Odds of us winning? Maybe 7 percent??
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) And there's the free out. Dah. I hate when people tell me how the bunt is the sure thing play. It is the right call, but players today can't bunt. So it's chicken and egg. You'd think a player would have some competitive fire and actually learn how to bunt.
-
Linebrink is probably going to come in the game. Serious question. For all the money he makes, has he ever helped the team this season in a game like this? Has he contributed to any victories?
-
If Ozzie pitches Danks another inning in this day of p**** pitch counts is that a fireable offense?
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) Hawk has become a caricature of himself. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) Just because Royals fans love him doesn't mean you should. His style of play is likeable.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Your love for players that are clearly much worse than Teahen is mystifying. You don't live here. The fans love Getz and it's kind of addicting.
-
If we got to go to bullpen this soon, this game may be OVA. Zack will go deep in this one.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Can I ask why? I'm looking at his numbers and they're pretty awful. Worse than Teahen's numbers. He's kind of a fan favorite here for some reason. You guys had to be sickened by all those backward Ks for Mr. Strikeout last night.
