Does it matter that Quentin has sucked this season?
Just when you think he and/or Beckham are going to break loose they go back to s*** like Gordon did tonight. Weird.

Peavy has fluid in his shoulder
How did the pitchers in the old days throw so many pitches and have long careers? Seems like the modern starting pitcher is very brittle.

June Catch All White Sox Thread
We will not sweep this series. No way. The White Sox do not sweep series. I don't need to take pressure off Ozzie. He's not going anywhere. Besides he's rich and not sharing any of his money with me. I simply am an Ozzie fan. Fans who want him gone are dreaming. He will leave when Jerry says so and that is never. He's a badass and doesn't need anybody trying to take pressure off him. When he leaves someday he will leave kicking and screaming.

Beckham needs to be sent down
What if Beckham uses tonight as a springboard and actually gets hot? That would be nice. He could still recover and hit .260 this season if he got red hot.

Sox at Pirates 6-15-10 game thread 6:05 first pitch
Question for you Jenks haters: When he next blows a save are you going to completely ride his ass, when you've given him NO credit for his saves? That's ridiculous if you ask me. Pretty f***ing sad. It's like some of you don't want him to succeed and when he succeeds we win.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Great win. I take credit for Beckham's performance (joke). My second baseman got hurt in fantasy and I had to pick one up and it was either Beckham or some other non producers and I picked up Beckham. Get hot now, Gordon! Bobby Jenks. Believe in him. He is still the real deal.

Heyman: KW wants to fire Ozzie
Thanks very much for the explanation. That is very interesting and I respect your professional opinion that he could have done some things to maybe prevent the severity of it. I also like the fact you said he's far from alone in ignoring the problem cause at times the back feels better. It's a shame. Why do you think my friend at 30 needed simple back surgery and he wound up using a cane? Was the doc a butcher or do things happen?

Beckham needs to be sent down
Alex Rodriguez is one of the greatest hitters of all time. I don't even think his name should be brought into this. I thought Beckham had great gap power and decent speed and people surely thought he would whack 20 or more dingers a year as well. I think that's better than the average Mark Grudzalanek second baseman. And the White Sox moved him for Mark Teahen which is about the dumbest decision in franchise history.

Beckham needs to be sent down
What? I thought everybody believed Gordon was going to be a doubles hitting machine and not a good but a great player? Not a journeyman run of the mill second baseman. All the love for Beckham on here and throughout baseball and he would just be an average third baseman in terms of gap hitting production? I also thought he had some pop in his bat he'd hit some home runs. He was the beloved high draft pick. You are saying a guy drafted that high was just going to be an average third baseman talent? And Mark Teahen is a GOOD third baseman talent? It was the wrong decision to replace Beckham at third with Mark Teahen.

Heyman: KW wants to fire Ozzie
OK, educate me some more on this. Are you saying Joe specifically contributed to his own injury? What am I missing here? I never read anything like Joe could have prevented his problems. I always thought as a baseball player who takes a zillion swings a day in the cages and bends over to field grounder after ground, s*** happens to the back. You said "it was his fault he had a back injury." I find that a little harsh. If you are a medical professioal you are blaming the patient for incurring an injury? WTF? And I didn't know fathom was kidding. It sounded like a backhanded rip of Joe and it wasn't in green. I see no problem defending these guys even on a meaningless in the big scheme of things message board.

Heyman: KW wants to fire Ozzie
I don't think it's wrong to defend a WS hero when somebody is mocking him for what? Having a bad back. It's not his fault he has a bad back. What's wrong with sticking up for a hero? The World Series is uh, a big deal.

Beckham needs to be sent down
I agree. I thought it was a horrible decision to move him from third where he seemed acceptable to above average. By the end of the year, he was making all routine plays it seemed to me and even some decent stabs of shots down the line, etc. I would hope all would agree making Teahen our starting third baseman really really hurt our team. He's a lousy fielder and backup type hitter.

Heyman: KW wants to fire Ozzie
I assume this is a joke. I would think it was. Since it wasn't in green ... Crede didn't ask to have back trouble. I hope you never have back trouble. I have a friend who needed back surgery and the doctor f***ed it up and he has to use a cane at the age of 34. Crede didn't ask for his back to fall apart. If Crede was a Cub, he'd be like Santo to their fan base. He was a KEY FACTOR in us winning it all. Cubdom would worship him.

Heyman: KW wants to fire Ozzie
No, I don't see a problem with it. KW has the power to make trades. I guess KW was nice enough to consult Oz in the offseason, maybe even under Jerry's orders to do so. Why would this be a problem? KW probably has and should have the authority to make personnel moves; Oz makes the lineup, etc., and basially stays away from Kenny except when he's really pissed like after the draft. So you guys at least agree with my take on this? I thought you might disagree.

Heyman: KW wants to fire Ozzie
In our dysfunctional organization, only Jerry is Ozzie's boss. It's pretty obvious Oz has never treated KW like his "boss." KW has no power over Oz; never has and never will. I would think everybody would agree Jerry "likes" Oz more than KW. I'd go so far as to say Oz is ahead of KW on Jerry's depth chart. That's pretty apparent. KW is Oz's boss only in KW's mind IMO.

Heyman: KW wants to fire Ozzie
Insubordination: To whom? Not Jerry. To KW? Of course. Oz obviously considers KW an inferior. Is that a fireable offense? Probably not. Lineup construction: This again? Our lineup sucks any way you slice it or dice it. Media tirades: Give me a break. The media love him. Sense of entitlement: Sure. He's Ozzie, a rich former ballplayer.

Beckham needs to be sent down
I've been all for keeping him up here, but recently it got to the point it's painful to watch him fail. And at his current rate of suckage, yes I think a demotion is not unreasonable. The problem is the replacement will be equally s***ty.

This is Why I Love Ozzie; Don't Deny You Love Him Too
I wonder why the new stadium doesn't have troughs? Gets the guys in and out pretty fast. I guess it's considered gross to have so many people see your own piss. I liked your recap on Wrigley.

Beckham needs to be sent down
Q truly does suck right now. Beckham is to the point he probably should be sent down not to find his swing and all that, but as a pure demotion. He's been given every chance for 2-3 weeks now, since the send down Beckham talk started and he still is sucking. He's about to the point he needs to be sent down so Sox fans don't have to watch him make outs until next season when hopefully he's good again. It's going to mean a steady diet of Omar for us fans, however.

There's no way in hell this team is capable of sweeping a three-game series against Pitt.

This is Why I Love Ozzie; Don't Deny You Love Him Too
Read this from Gonzales and tell me you don't frickin love Ozzie Guillen: White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen took notice of the Wrigley Field fans booing Gordon Beckham for attempting a bunt with one out in the eighth inning of Ted Lilly’s no-hit bid Sunday. With the Sox trailing 1-0, Beckham fouled a bunt, prompting most of the 40,456 fans to voice their displeasure. “You bunt in the ninth, that’s unprofessional,” Guillen said. “But the eighth, Wrigley Field people; the only thing they can do is boo. They boo for every freakin’ thing here.” My take: Oz stands up for his players. He is a great great man.

Beckham needs to be sent down
I personally always was in favor of his staying at third where he almost earned rookie of the year honors. He was by no means a butcher. He was way better than the sieve Teahen and poor Nix can't play the position either. Like you said, we'll never know if he'd have been more comfortable staying at third and that translated to better play overall, etc. We'll never know.

6/13 GT: White Sox @ Cubs - 7:00pm CDT ESPN
Not me. That was as predictable as CQ's mighty pop up. At least Paulie tried to stroke a single to right and tapped weakly to first.
