April Catch All White Sox Thread
I agree that the opposition doesn't matter a bit. We have played like horses*** vs. the Central for a while now. We need to win a zillion games just like tonight's if we are gonna do anything. I don't think it matters who we play unless it's the opponents of that road trip from hell last year: at New York, boston and Minnie.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
This was like our season opening win, where it looked like the formula would work this year: pitching and good enough hitting. Let's hope we can build on it and not do what we did after that equally impressive season opener. Not meaning to be a negative nancy; great win tonight, though there would be another well deserved meltdown had we lost 5-4 cause we only got 7 hits tonight.

Just bat Pierre ninth, Ozzie, just do it.

Pods
Just cause we disagree with you doesn't mean we're little girls. Some of us played sports as well as you did. And some of us liked Pods all last year even with his baserunning gaffes. I love Pods and I do believe he still has pop in his bat. And I have never been a fan of guys like Pierre who have no pop in their bat. It sickens me to see how shallow they play him. Guess it reminds me of Little League when guys like Pierre came to bat and as a third baseman our skipper forced me to play about even with the pitcher in case of bunt. Little girls don't risk their teeth gettin knocked out playing hockey from youth leagues through high school.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
Some of us don't think anybody is listening (reading) so we repeat ourselves ad nauseum. Could be a bad thing.

Let's help Brooks Boyer with marketing ideas...
Well they are 4-9. If for some reason they repeat the 4-9 the next 13 games and stand at 8-18, you might as well write it off. If Minnie is 17-9 at that point, we'd be nine back and buried pretty early. Our only hope would be a Houston like comeback. Weren't the Astros smitten with a god-awful record at the break the year we beat them in the World Series? Teams have completely turned it around the second half, but if we are 8-18, I'd say KW should start to plan on what moves he can make the second half to strengthen the team for next year. Should be interesting to see what happens against Tampa. Teams going in opposite directions at this point, for sure.

True, earthshiner, but at 4-9 a day off wouldn't hurt. The team better gets its head out of its collective butt soon. Teams like the Royals and O's regularly get buried by mid May. 4-9 ain't gonna cut it. I plead with the Sox to get it together and start winning games.

ESPN BBTN Says Wave the Red Flag
My posts were meant at Dave, not you, Knight. Definitely not at you. All my posts were at him for getting worked up about the "we."

ESPN BBTN Says Wave the Red Flag
To Dave Brown, why do you care? Don't you have other things to occupy your concern? Like whether international flights should be flying over the volcano? Or whether the recession will ever end? Or ... anything?

ESPN BBTN Says Wave the Red Flag
Who gives a f*** if some of us like to say "we." We are fans. Big deal. If topics like this become a big deal ... I'm speechless. "We" know we are not members of the f***ing team. "We" have followed the team for years, some of us decades. Grow up.

Fact Or Fiction
Good post Fact or Fiction: *Beckham hits over 290 on the season (Fact ... I think.) *Peavy wins 15 games (no chance) *Jenks finishes the season as closer (Fact, unless he gets hurt; hard to predict). *Quentin Hits 30 home runs (He comes close either way; I'd say fiction) *Scott Linebrink will be on the roster come august (Fact) * Freddy Garcia will be the 5th starter come July (Fact) * KW will make a major trade mid-season (A-Gone type of deal) (Could go either way. I'll say Fact) * White Sox make the playoffs (No way in hell) Go to the top of the pageReport Post +Quote Post

Pods
Pods is on fire. Seven stolen bases, playing great baseball. But ooh he's a bad baserunner. He got picked off a lot last year. That of course did not cost us the pennant. We could use's Pods' multi-hit potential right now. The guy has some pop in his bat. Juan does not. Watch how shallow outfielders play Juan. It is almost embarrassing.

Uggghhh! 4-17
bmags is right. It's too early to be saying "we're only five out." It's embarrassing that we are five out this early. 4-9 is a Baltimore O's type record. This team remains so damn dysfunctional. 2-2 in Toronto isn't all that bad. Then boom. 0-3 in Cleveland. Team plays a perfect opening game, then loses its next five to Cleveland?? WTF? The only thing more dysfunctional than our season so far would have been in the Hawks lost to Nashville tonight to go 0-2. That would have been insanely dysfunctional and unexplainable. Instead, the nice victory and the Hawks are hopefully back on track to do what we feel they should do. Reach the Cup Finals.

How many times a season do you overreact?
Me too.

ESPN BBTN Says Wave the Red Flag
I can't believe 2 of the 3 things you mentioned concerned pitching. Most of our problems I feel stem from our offense which has to be one of the worst in team history since the start of the DH. What bugs me is why our organization decided home runs are evil. If that's all on Oz, I'd agree Oz should be fired. But he's not the f***ing GM. Or the owner, who professes to be a baseball guy. It makes no sense, especially in our ballpark. The Sox brass got hypnotized by the potential of our starters. Proof of that is the flirtation with Halladay. Didn't KW or somebody imply it'd be the best rotation in the history of mankind if we got Halladay. Screw the rotation. The lineup is what will keep Comiskey morgue-like much of this season. Barring some Royals-like renaissance of the everyday players. Anybody checked to see the Royals' starters' batting averages? It's like a college team with the high numbers. Everybody's hitting over .300 and Pods is hitting over .400.

Good job, Sox. After sleeping through last game in Toronto in a series you actually were playing OK, you got your asses handed to you by Cleveland. Eat some good food on the charter home.

Good stuff, Balta. Losing 3 in Cleveland is tough to stomach. Hopefully there is hope somewhere.

Balta, being serious, what is it about this year's team that keeps you sane, thinking "it's still early?" I have never been this blah about a season because of the team's makeup. If you could give me a reason to get excited and believe, I would be most appreciative. Aside from the "it's early" argument.

You guys may soon experience what we've had here in KC the last 20 years. You want to go to a Tuesday game, sit in the 10th row/lower level and have the whole row to yourself and your buddy.

Cleveland is 6-6 after today. God bless the White Sox, Tribe fans must be thinking.

You know you are off to a s*** start when in April you are wondering who the team is playing next?

It would help morale if at least Oz batted Juan ninth. Let Beckham lead off. Who cares if it's odd. Brian Downing used to lead off.

Oh good, the Sox are up to bat again.

But he has another year on his deal? Great. On a positive note, I see Teahen, Omar and Lexi are 5 for 8 today. Not bad 7-9. Whole organization should be ashamed of losing all these games to Cleveland.

Did we really sign him for 2 years? My god.
