  1. I wasn't for signing Damon at the time for some reason, but having him at the top of our order would make me feel pretty good compared to now.
  2. The problem is they have made no attempt to upgrade. I think overall we'd be in better shape if we made no changes from last year to now. Pods, Dye, Thome would arguably cause more havoc than Juan, Teahen, Jones, Omar, etc. We shall see. You would think we have enough talent in CQ, Paulie, AJ, Rios, Lexi to start scoring 4-5 a game. Maybe?
  3. I know it's totally early, but the Sox like most teams rarely hit better on the road than home. We are going to really need to suck it up to avoid a pretty horrendous record through our first dozen games. Oh, and this quote, just kind of sucks as Minnie continues to dominate the Sox. “When we play the White Sox, home or away, everyone gets fired up for the games,” said Twins outfielder Denard Span, who was startled to learn how one-sided the series has been lately. “They have a good team, and they play hard. For us to come here and win the majority of games, it’s good for our psyche.”
  4. I tell you what ... I know Boston has been sucky, but I watched that game tonight and that lineup compared to ours is like comparing the Lakers to the Nets.
  5. The pitching has been so good I simply cannot believe we're not 3-2 at worst, 4-1 would be more like it. Can you believe if we lose tomorrow, we're 4.5 games out. I know it means little to nothing, but it's pretty wild nonetheless.
  6. I hate to be a negative prick, but I just have a bad feeling about our offense. It's pretty bad when I'd give anything to have Ankiel in our lineup and Pods as well. I just watched Pods smash a double off the wall. Maybe I'll have to root for my Sox B-team this year as well in the Royals. I get to see Pods and Getz play regularly here. OK I'm depressed about our first five games. So kill me.
  7. I'm watching the f***ing Royals game and they are pounding the f***ing ball. Ankiel has five hits in a row over 2 nights.
  8. My final post of the thread: Not bringing Pods into the equation. You guys aren't really excited about Pierre being our new leadoff guy are you?
  9. I tend to agree with Milkman. I hope Kenny has a Plan B in mind to reconstruct the lineup a bit before we are 10 games out. Winning tomorrow might be wise. Maybe our new Sunday lineup can score 7 runs. A 7-3 win? How bout it? Oz should throw a few tables if we finish this homestand 1-5.
  10. Pierre had 380 at bats last year and 375 the year before. I hope Oz has a similar bat load planned for Juan.
  11. My expectations have been lowered considerably. We need at least one more middle of the lineup impact bat REAL BAD.
  12. I think Pierre playing every day is an out machine. Pods while a bad defender was a hit machine.
  13. I hope so, but I think this lineup is really a D. Starting Pitching on paper: A plus. Relief corps: B. Lineup: D.
  14. I should add that, no, I do not think Pierre is a real player. I'd take Pods over him any day of any month.
  15. It's Kenny's fault we have Teahen though. Slow start notwithstanding, he's average at best. Moving Beckham to second was also a dumb idea. He was becoming a very good third baseman. Also whether Dye and Thome are finished or not, it should have been easy to see that we needed a reliable big bopper to go with Paulie and CQ. Also, the Juan Pierre love was not good. I never thought we'd get Damon, but he's a real player at least. He's gonna help Detroit a lot.
  16. I don't know why anybody would be pressing after Game One in which this team looked great. It was a perfect opening day. Since then .... blah.
  17. I'm just very down because these are teams in our division, it's early April and we should not be 1-4 at home. And it is alarming that Minnesota has this kind of record on the road. Also, so many guys on our team in my mind are washed up offensively that I don't see much room for optimism offensively.
  18. But Badger, now that these guys have taken the field, hasn't reality set in? Pitching is great. But the lineup is an opposing pitcher's fantasy. Dream all you want how we could be better on the road. It doesn't work that way. .500 road trips are good ones.
  19. How could they sit there with a straight face and say, 'Let's let Dye and Thome go' and we'll play small ball with great hitters and grinders like Kotsay and Mark Teahen and Omar Vizquel and ....." Fire everybody soon.
  20. How smart baseball people could think you could win it all just because of starting pitching is beyond belief.
  21. Wait til we get on the road, folks. This is going to get ugly very very fast.
  22. Nice job, White Sox. Win the opener and look like world beaters and you are 1-4 in your own division, arguably the worst division, all the gaes at home. Wow.
  23. This offense so bad I get excited about warning track power.
  24. I wouldn't steal or do anything on the basepaths.
