  1. How did we get our run?
  2. My god. What can I say about that f***ing boot.
  3. Cheap hits, but hits nonetheless. We need to start hitting some f***ing singles like our opponents if we are truly a small ball team.
  4. Thanks, that's not too bad. Hopefully he'll get it together. He's my pick to click tonight.
  5. The We Want Thome chant would be awesome. I'd give him a standing O only if he was a starter. If he comes in to pinch hit with the game on the line, applause should suffice until tomorrow.
  6. Great thread. I've thought more about the bunt. If it was me, I'd be like Earl Weaver and just say managers should NEVER bunt. Just don't even make it an option, even in situations like last night where it's kind of called for in a tie game in the bottom of ninth. However, being that Ozzie wants to bunt a lot and is going to bunt a lot, I have prepared myself mentally for A TON OF BUNTS this year. For your sanity, shouldn't you all do the same?
  7. Am I wrong for thinking that Jones is a total stiff who should have been given the Dye treatment by all big league teams this past offseason? Should I try to get over my current hatred of Jones being on our team? p.s. I love Ozzie but I agree he should be fired if he doesn't just simply leave Rios in center every day Rios is in the lineup.
  8. Lexi needs to get his act together better in April. How'd he hit in the spring? Our professional hitters need to get a clue and drill the ball where it is pitched like most playoff caliber teams do.
  9. Jones, Teahen, Omar and Juan just don't make for an exciting offseason of acquisitions. Somebody could argue with you that keeping Dye and Thome would give us a better lineup in a year we figured to have good starting pitching and adequate relief anyway. Pierre did get the hit in the ninth which was nice. I'm not bagging on Rios yet, but does he have just the one hit?
  10. I wonder if Oz would have wanted Thome if he knew he'd sign with the Twins. It's going to suck having to face him so many times this season. Compare our NEW DH option to the old one. Much worse.
  11. I can explain it easily. It's not the first or fourth inning. We need one run to win the game. We have professional baseball hitters in the middle of our order coming up. Get the bunt down and one hit wins it. One hit with 2 outs to go. s***, Gordon might have popped up. We'll never know. The strategy was 100 percent wrong ... because it didn't work.
  12. I don't see why Oz wouldn't want Thome, if he knew we weren't going to do anything at all to replace his potential power. Now if we had a better DH plan? Fine. But I'd rather have Thome up there 450 times at least. He could have reduced his at bats a bit and still kept him. Hell, he only batted about 10 times for the Dodgers the entire month of September, didn't he?
  13. Hopefully the Twins will bring out a sense of urgency in our club and we can get some competitive juices flowing to carry into Week Two of the season.
  14. Teahen is what he always has been. A guy always available even in deep fantasy leagues. It's hoped he can hit .275 and cut down on the Ks.
  15. Would anybody have bet we'd not win this series after that efficient if not spectacular Game One performance? I assumed 2-3 and hoped for a sweep.
  16. Yes I think he's a good basestealer. I agree Oz's call was wrong cause it didn't work. But I understand the move completely. This series proved that we got some work to do; Cleveland by all accounts is a pretty mediocre team.
  17. I'm saying you guys are right ... because it didn't work. But I think the bunt was the right call, even with Beckham.
  18. I still say it's a different ballgame in the bottom of the ninth, with nobody out and a man on first. Bunt 'em over and win the damn game. Good teams get it done. Cleveland even went to the bunt in the exact same situation. You need one run; you don't need a rally. Bottom of the ninth; bunt him over and win the damn game. The lowly Tribe got a clutch hit with man on second; why couldn't we???
  19. Bolt, if it was such a bad decision, then Oz should really be put on coals tonight by the media, maybe even disciplined by the owner. Instead, the move is completely understandable. Good teams get the single to win the game right there. We didn't. I agree there were other options, have Juan steal on the first pitch, then bunt him over or hit and run with Gordon. Obviously those would have been better options since the bunt didn't work in hindsight.
  20. True, fathom, but Cleveland got a runner on first and didn't hesitate. Immediately bunted the guy to second like ALL managers do in a tie game in extra innings with no outs ... unless the batter is some big horse who simply CANNOT bunt.
  21. The strategy worked. It's the same strategy we used in the bottom of the ninth. We get a single ... we win the game. We had 2 outs to do it. Players failed. We lose. Case closed. It was not a bad managerial decision. I agree the OTHER call woulda been have Juan steal second, then bunt. Would that have worked? We'll never know. Hit and run with Gordo? Maybe. Would that have worked? We'll never know.
  22. So can Cleveland. It won them the game.
  23. Game One was perfection. Two and Three? Wow. Can't win a series at home vs. the Tribe.
  24. LOL at how shallow they play Pierre. Wow.
