  1. KW has to be concerned. Good teams don't lose all these games at home in April when everybody is rusty. .500 would be a bad enough homestand much less this crap.
  2. Why take that attitude? With this roster, I'm sure Oz is going to use a lot of guys you and everybody else deem s***ty.
  3. Kenny should have told Oz that this is an AL team in an AL park and small ball won't work. If Dye and Thome were over the hill, then we needed a superior option. Great pitching in itself likely won't win us jack squat.
  4. Good like to those who bought season tickets. Hope you enjoy stellar starting pitching. You can take your kids to the games and teach them how to pitch at least.
  5. This offense is so bad it is beyond human understanding.
  6. The only bad thing about baseball is the umpiring. That pitch to Teahen was meat. It was a strike. Sick.
  7. I don't think anybody's overreacting. The offense sorta sucks.
  8. Don't forget Jones and Kotsay looking overmatched.
  9. Maybe. You'd think Beckham, CQ, Paulie, AJ, Ramirez, Rios and even Teahen will sizzle in stretches. To tell you the truth, I have no confidence in any one of our acquisitions for this season though, including Teahen.
  10. Those are all pretty nice positives. I'd only disagree on Jones. I think I've seen one good swing from him; that shot he hit foul today past third.
  11. I guess we agree to disagree on Jones. I simply think he's washed up. I also think Kotsay's washed up. I don't know why we just didn't stand pat. We really don't have a team that can blaze all over the basepaths and we really don't have much power. What is our offense? Having Thome and Dye clogging things up is no worse than what we've got and we could have had both cheap.
  12. If Ozzie said that, he's copying Lee Elia who said something similar as Cubs skipper decades ago. I think Sox fans aren't offended by much that he says. He says a lot of things. He's soon going to be exploding about this offense, just as his fans are.
  13. I liked caufield's first post; thought the second was not so good. Shoulda stopped at the first one IMO.
  14. The Sox front office got what it wanted. A terrific starting rotation. The front office knew this team potentially couldn't hit, but they thought it could muster enough runs to win NL style games and games the Sox used to play and sometimes win in the Go Go Sox days about 50 years ago. Good luck with that strategy, front office. We better wake up soon. The Twins didn't do s*** tonight and we couldn't beat them at home. Sleepy effort by the White Sox again.
  15. It seemed to be a classy ovation. Sox fans prove to be great again, unlike Indians' fans who booed him.
  16. Picking between Jones and Kotsay is like picking between Teahen and Omar. Does it matter?
  17. What I'm saying is both players suck. Is that simple enough? Your stats do prove Jones has a better chance of lofting a home run. I agree. Unless the Jones of 2010 is as done as you all feel Dye is done. I tend to feel the Jones of 2010 is the same as Dye of 2010. Done as a burned steak. I agree Jones on paper is the better choice. But I've burned the paper because I feel Jones as well as Kotsay suck.
  18. Knight, are you telling me seeing Jones at the plate excites you in any way at any time? I'm not saying I think Kotsay is any good, either.
  19. I am completely serious that it is ridiculous to think Jones is the answer in any situation. Nobody wanted that guy but Kenny and Ozzie. He's no good. Please face facts. I'm saying it's ridiculous to get worked up over Kotsay over Jones. Both hitters are dimes a dozen guys, over the hill.
  20. When can our starters be extended to go eight innings a night?
  21. That really is debatable regarding Jones.
  22. I don't think Oz will survive this train wreck of an offense. Our only hope as a team is to have the starters soon go eight instead of five and six. If they completely dominate like pitchers did in the 60s, then we could win some 2-0 and 3-1 games, maybe some 4-2 and 5-4 games. We don't have the offense or set up men to win any games in which our starters only go five to six innings. We're not going to score runs. Does anybody dispute that simple sentence?
  23. Do you really think that would have mattered? Both those players totally suck.
  24. Have the Sox sold a zillion season tickets? Or do they rely at all on in-season sales? I can't imagine people sticking with this offense very long. Nobody goes to games to see strong starting pitching for six to seven innings.
  25. My problem with our team is almost everybody assumed just because we have great pitching we'd be great. That's bulls***. How can grown up wise baseball men think that we had the offense to do anything? You can call this Internet over-reaction, but I don't think it is. How are we going to score any runs at all this year?? Wait til we get on the road. My god.
