  1. Did we hit this badly in spring training? We'll take the walk.
  2. Didn't Jones DH all last season? Never sniffed the field?
  3. True, but I'm not all educated enough on what he demanded. He didn't want Thome, right? A lot of people here didn't want Thome either. And was it Oz who made the call on Dye? A lot of people here didn't want Dye either. I'm just not caught up on everything that can be put on Oz personnel wise. Was it Oz or KW who wanted Pierre? I know Oz loves him, but didn't KW have a desire for him as well? I don't like the weak lineup at all, but I thought we were all in agreement that this team was all about pitching and we'd have to get used to winning games, 3-1 and 4-2.
  4. I agree Rios should never be moved from center. The boobirds will be out tonight if Jones makes some obvious blunder in cf. It would be funny in a way cause Rios got booed some last year.
  5. Have we always had this much second guessing this early in the season? Seems to me a lot of people are tired of Oz. Do people in St. Louis complain about LaRussa this much?
  6. Will Sox fans boo Thome like the Indians fans did?
  7. Shouldn't we be used to it? We're "built" to win with pitching this year.
  8. Why get so upset? I'm not crazy about Kotsay and Jones, the two oldies. I probably should have come up with a name. This may sound dumb but I'd rather see Nix get their at bats than those 2.
  9. In answer to your question ... I'm not a big Kotsay fan but I'm not a big Jones fan either. I'd rather see some young guy in the minors be our DH. I don't care who he is really, just not either one of those 2 guys.
  10. Blowing the 3-0 lead is annoying against a team like the Tribe at the Cell. I'm annoyed at some individual players but it's too early in the season to really rip anybody. When we got off to the early 3-0 lead I was actually thinking, 'Another shutout is coming.' Not to be. I think everybody is really hoping we win the series because going 1-2 versus the Tribe at home is just a pretty s***ty start to the Ozzieball season. Two of three and we'll all be pretty happy I would think.
  11. If you don't like Kotsay, fine, but please people, don't act like Jones is a good option. Kotsay's as good as Jones. We're talking about Jones, here, who like Kotsay, isn't a good option anymore.
  12. We don't want those doubleheaders to stack up late in the season. Need to play ball, but if it's going to rain all night, cancel the game at 6 p.m.
  13. Didn't want to start a new thread on this, but it was a nice bit at the end of the Sun Times game story on our opening win. Nice opening game for Rios. Hopefully the good feeling he has will carry over into a great start this season.
  14. If Thornton had that same stuff and command all season, I don't think anybody would mind him being our permanent closer. Wow.
  15. This is entertaining. I hope I can keep my mouth somewhat shut this season and not trash my least favorite players like I like to do. It's been entertaining reading others blast some of the '10 Sox and stay out of it this time.
  16. If we play like we did yesterday every day, I wouldn't get too worked up about this.
  17. It's beating a dead horse, but I for the life of me can't figure out why Sox fans would boo Obama. Maybe it's just one of those instant things that happen at a game. See the pic, somebody boos and everybody does. The guy has pledged his Sox allegiance over and over and we boo him?? WTF. I think it's one of the coolest things that's ever happened, that the president loves the Sox.
  18. I could see moving AJ up. Oz certainly loves Kotsay, but AJ is a much much much much better hitter.
  19. Like so many have said, that was a perfect opener. When have we had one THAT perfect? I mean enough runs and hitting, including the long ball, to please everybody. Awesome starting pitching and phenomenal eighth inning setup to an overpowering Thornton. Perhaps what will turn out to be the best defensive play in all of baseball this season and a gem in center by Rios to end the game. Games like that make me not care about any individual lines in the box score. Who cares who had an 0-fer. What a great team win. Hopefully we can keep playing excellent baseball like that. Did anybody see that coming? Such a clean game in the opener? I know the Indians suck, but who cares about that.
  20. Did he get booed at the Cell or not? Why would anybody boo our most famous fan? It is so cool he'd whip out the Sox cap on the mound in Washington. The Cubs would kill to have this guy as THEIR fan. I remember reading quotes last year from some Cub exec that it's great he loves the Sox but they wouldn't mind him at least recognizing them occasionally as well. OBAMA RULES!
  21. No game Tuesday. Players should go get drunk and do it again Wednesday. WOW.
  22. Geezus we look like the best team in the history of baseball. Congrats Mr. Rios.
