Good. Arguably one of the biggest keys to our team. If he can hit, he'll play every day in center I'd think, even on Sundays.

Did you get my donation in the mail? I don't want a pat on the back, just to make sure Uncle Sam's mail department didn't steal the loot.

OK I'll take the bait. He provided some of the key moments of the seasons in which he was with the team. He showed some life on a team often described as dead. His catch made possible one of the most glorious moments in White Sox history, in Chicago baseball history, a catch that has never been surpassed and will never be surpassed in White Sox lore (though Ken Berry and Chet Lemon had some great ones). I love Wise and hope he made a roster somewhere.

How many games will this team win in 2010?

I'm hoping this year is completely different. We can't have a replay of the past couple seasons. Less mediocre at best play; let's set the tone and win some series and heaven forbid sweep some series. Let's have some winning streaks of note this year, White Sox. -
How has Rios hit and looked this spring? Give us a thorough assessment of his performance. Why do people keep bringing up Wise? He's gone. Some of us liked him. You just want to keep digging the knife in? I'll bite my tongue and not go into a long discussion of why I like Wise.

I just saw an Oz quote in Tuesday's USA Today saying "we're going to hit and run all day" or something to that effect. He really is intent on this small ball thing. This should get really interesting once we start playing for real.

I'll be mighty happy if he performs. People are wrong all the time and I hope I'm wrong. I was watching the NCAA expert panel before the Kansas State-Butler game. All picked Kansas State. Butler won going away at the end. Nobody had the Final Four right or even close to being right. So I will gladly be wrong about Teahen, Rios, Omar, Pierre.

Not flamed, but I certainly disagree. I think the Twins are the overwhelming favorites to win the division and we know we have to win the division to make the playoffs. We won't be winning the wildcard I don't think. I love our rotation but we know Mark gives up runs on occasion and we know Danks/Floyd is not yet ultra consistent, though I think Danks is almost there and Floyd not far behind. Freddy is hittable. Peavy hopefully will be a god. -
Who do you want to get the last roster spot?

This might sound dumb, but I like Nix better than I do Teahen. I hope Nix makes the team. -
Actually I am counting on those two as sure things. Isn't it safe to say if those two are not excellent this season, we're f***ed?

We look like a .500 team to me. I can't see the offense being very productive unless CQ just has a Pujols type year somehow. I am hoping we finish 10 over .500 somehow. That would take a lot of things going well. -
It's funny that one of the options we're considering is Ozzie didn't mean what he said. It's funny to have a skipper that says so much stuff we have to assume he didn't mean it. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't mean it. Oz is Oz.
-
No, my prediction is the same as yours except he hits a home run to center like he did a million times in a Sox uniform.
-
I assume he's doing s***ty in ST. If he stink again, why not just give him the Carrasco role this year?
-
A. The Sox script is classic. Just get rid of the Nike crap or put a little swoosh on the back.
-
Going in game threads is risky business. There's where you say impulsive stuff that gets you branded an idiot. I'm gonna try to stay out of them this year but I would guess the temptation will be too big and I'll join the fray.
-
Yeah, I would think a sane person would realize we are going to have a lot more awful offensive games this year than we did a year ago. Playing Pierre, Kotsay and Omar a lot sounds pretty iffy even in spring training. I'm scared to think of the possible results when the games start for good. Repeat after me 20 times: "our pitching is so good all this stuff won't matter; our pitching is so good all this stuff won't matter."

My moolah is in the mail.

Well put. Thing is, if he's a mid year pick up, it'll be the same deal, maybe even lower pay. Because obviously at that point he has to play in AAA for 2 weeks or so to get his hitting in gear and get in playing shape. You are probably right though. He's already lived the dream and doesn't care about adding to his career stats in any way. I wonder if he ever wants to coach. Retiring at 36 can get mighty boring I'd think. He seems well spoken. Maybe he'll become an ESPN analyst.
-
From Mr. Gonzales article in Trib. It's obvious Oz loves Kotsay. Hopefully this guy can hit like Oz thinks he can.
-
Good points. I need to start considering your point about days off and how players do apparently hide their injuries. I wonder how many teams do the Sunday lineup thing? Just asking. I don't really know. I know a lot of games last year, in our game threads, somebody would post the lineup and a lot of people automatically assumed a loss, which happened seemingly a lot. I hope this year we go for the jugular if we happen to win the first two games of a three-game series.
-
Teahen will be one of the more interesting stories of the season. He really started to suck in KC. The ol change of scenery thing; will he reach greatest with the Sox or have major suckage? Can't wait to get it going to see how MT, Rios, Jones and Omar fare as Sox. Mentally I'm giving Rios a clean slate throwing out last year completely.
-
Man, my mood will change so much when the first real pitch is thrown. All the at bats count and all Oz's decisions count and the relievers will be out there to drive me crazy.
-
Great answer Kalapse. I would think someday he'll regret his stance. Baseball is a pretty easy job. He could make $1 mill a year plus incentives easily to hit a f***ing baseball. He is being dumb.

How the hell is JD out of baseball at 36?
