  1. The team doesn't make me sick, but we certainly don't have the magic. Today the error hurt Vazzie, but our pitching hasn't been great, like you said our defense hasn't been great and we don't run well. Whether it's true or not, it's possible some of the minor moves we made in the offseason have hurt, not helped. I think we miss Rowand. We miss a healthy Hermy obviously. McCarthy, if indeed he's as good as some of you think, has defnitley had a wasted year not being allowed to start. All we do is slug, like you say. It's sad, cause we really could have gotten back in the division race instead we've lost what, four of six. We can't do a thing with Minnie and I fear Det may put us out of our misery and win all four. It's gut check time. Do the Sox keep plodding away, hanging in there, for a magical run? Or are we fatigued and ready to check it in??
  2. You really think Big Hurt used roids? I have a feeling he did not. Why do you stain Hurt's name like that? The general perception is if he had used roids, he'd probably be up there in the Bonds-like zone of home runs. Hurt is clean.
  3. It was fun watching tonight's game and see a starter with some zip on his fastball for a change. Garland is a stud. Some of his critics won't be happy til we ship him away, though. He's an unpopular player at least on the Internet.
  4. I think he'd be the perfect third outfielder for this team. But this has been argued so much I'm glad you put it in there cause people got mad last time I suggested this.
  5. I wouldn't book tomorrow as a win. Twinks rarely lose at home and we have become a headcase team.
  6. Our guys may seem tired but they should always be rested considering how many times Oz plays the B team.
  7. The Royals suck. Good thing Sweeney didn't rifle a double and clear the bases or soxdom would be imploding. Bad series but whatever ... we need to play well against Minnie obviously. Minnie is almost unbeatable at home.
  8. I just hope Pods gets it going the rest of the way. We need him if we want to make the playoffs. I won't be sad to see him leave, but like somebody posted on here the other day, we really are a different team when he gets on base and has a good game. And he has had some good games this year. It's not like we're 20 under .500.
  9. Can you believe Big Hurt is having this kind of year? He ain't done yet.
  10. I still like our team and our WC chances, but it's very disappointing to do this against KC. We deserve anything Moronotti and the rest of the columnists dish out.
  11. I just don't understand how we can't beat KC 3 of 4 just by showing up. The magic isn't there, but that doesn't mean we can't plod away, get the WC and get hot at the right time. I have lost hope for the division title. We're too weird a team to win it. Hopefully the Sox will prove me wrong. p.s. I got the feeling tonight watching the game in the ninth. What a bummer it'd be to be poor and have tix to one game this year after the world title year and show up for tonight's game be down 6-0 early and have that game. That would be miserable.
  12. I've given up on the division. It's obvious we have Bosox disease the year after winning the World Series. Boston was good the following year; not great. That's us. By not winning 3 or 4 against the AAA Royals we've proven we are not serious about winning it again. Our only hope is to get in the playoffs via the WC and lightning might strike in the postseason. Don't you all agree this series proves a lot about our team just not having what it takes to win the division?
  13. This sure ain't last year. This series proves were a freak team. I could see anything happen this year except one thing. We ain't going to win the division. Now could we win the wild card and get hot in postseason? I think so. But we are freaks. No excuse for this s***. KC beats our ass like this. We did what great teams don't do. Let up big time after the Tiger series. We could have played average and won 3 of 4. Instead we decide to play like s*** show our warts and will be lucky to split.
  14. Let's face it; we couldn't get up for the Royals after pounding Detroit. That's what happens when you fall 10 back. It's impossible to make up such a deficit. Too many highs and lows. Let's just hope we can win enough for the wild card. It is a joke we can't beat up on Kansas City. No excuses. Just pathetic.
  15. exactly tp. That was the game against a horses*** opponent. I'm not giving up, but wild card may be the best we can do this year. I can't believe Det. has beaten Boston two in a row in Boston. Amazing.
  16. I hate that they went out there and did this report, considering that network is seen all around the world. It's like we're telling terrorists how smart it would be to suicide bomb our stadiums. I love the media but sometimes I think we are our own worst enemy. I mean for whatever reason the terrorists have passed on stadiums where if a big bomb suceeded they might change sports as we know them. I hate to have them realize we think them blowing up arenas probably would work, which it would. Wake up CNN. Bad show tonight.
  17. We need a new third base coach with some common sense. I'd vote for Harold Baines if he's still around. I mean c'mon use some common sense, Cora. And yes I realize he's made some good waves home in the past.
  18. I respect you finding those stats, but I wouldn't say pulling him after five innings would have been a good idea. Like I for one said before I believe if you can't go seven innings then you shouldn't be on the team. A five inning starter? That's a joke. I don't blame Oz. I blame Vaz. I know a lot blame Oz though. Don't forget our bullpen hasn't exactly been stellar all the time, either. It's not like we wouldn't have lost some of those games anyway had Oz lifted him after 5. We really need to play better against the s*** ass royals if we want(ed) to win the division is the bottom line. We can't let Detroit and Minnie handle them like Sigfriend and Roy handled their Tigers back in the day before one decided to chow down on Roy. We deserve what we get if we have to settle for the wild card race IMO.
  19. If you went to your first game at 8 and have followed them closely every year after you are not a fair weather fan. I think the test is longevity. You pass that test. I can't rattle off full lineups of teams in the past, but I can tell you the names of certain Sox players I followed throughout the years thru thick and thin. If you can name some key players enthusiastically and tell some specific memories of these players you are not a fairr weather fan. We need Jeff Foxworthy here. You are not a fairweather fan if ...
  20. Hey congratulations on getting the ball and protecting your gf. She probably thinks you are the great protector! One time I was in h.s. our principal called me to the office and said he had four tickets and wanted to give them to me for that day's game. I got to pick 3 friends, we drove to game and got a foul ball plopping off the old upper deck facade at old comiskey into our laps in the lower deck. We brought ball back to school and gave it to him the next day and he was pretty happy. it's funny how the ball hit upper deck and plopped rite back down.
  21. Interesting arguments, but I am of the opinion it's a no brainer. I want(ed) Boston to kick Detroit's butt. I mean there's the outside chance Det. could completely go in the can. And if we repeat as division champs, obviously our postseason hopes are way way better. True it's important just to make the playoffs, but if we want to repeat our chances are greater obviously being division champs and that would be a real possibility if we swept KC and Boston swept Det. To me, cheering for Detroit just seems wrong. But that's me.
  22. Great win. I watched TV and after a scoreless tie after 3 including the play where Pauley got caught off third on the hard grounder it looked like we might play sloppy and get beat. Not quite. Blowout. I hope the team forgets it and gets a good nite's sleep or good n drunk and sleep's in and takes care of business in game 2. We really need to win all of these if we can heading into the next road trip. Wish Boston coulda keep Det. slumping. That sucks Det. went into Boston and kicked some butt.
  23. Dye is amazing. I wonder if our training staff has helped him stay healthy; he sure seems more comfortable with his body in Chicago. He was injury prone before.
