Poor Carlos looks lost at the plate.

Sox tried signing Kenny Lofton
Not terrible, but you have to get some hits on a consistent basis to help our lineup like we need him to help our lineup. Thus far this season, he's made way way way too many outs.

Rockies @ White Sox 6/13, 7:11 p.m. CSN
Do you really hate fathom? I just dropped Francis from my fantasy team. I'm glad we won of course but I'm sick of him. He's just no good.

Sox tried signing Kenny Lofton
Just say no to Lofton. Go with what we have or look elsewhere. Anderson really isn't a bad option if Swish continues to struggle. Swish has cooled off again. One for his last 12 after going 8 for 14 vs. Minn's s***ty pitchers.

And that's a White Sox Winner!!!
What inning did Pods come in? I'd think the drunks would boo him at that point of the game if it was late. Man, thankfully Uribe got the big hit. A loss today woulda brought out big time gloom on this board, in the standings and in the Cell. Great job by Anderson and Uribe and our bullpen. Hopefully we can get to De LaRosa. I don't believe in jinxes so I'll say there is no reason our right handed hitters do not do some damage against that guy tomorrow. Just hit him! Go with the pitch and drill it, White Sox! And bear down against Pods if he starts. He's going to want to stick it to us.

Scotty Pods
If he pinch ran late in the game, maybe some drunks booed him. He'll get cheered if he starts a game and comes to bat, I'd think.
-
Scotty Pods
Hope you are right, Soxfan. You know as well as I do, former Sox tend to own us.
-
Scotty Pods
He's not gong to get a standing O, but he should be cheered loudly. These guys received the love at the victory parade and the season after with numerous standing Os. But he should and I'm sure will receive cheers. Whether it turns into a prolonged ovation, might be a spur of the moment decision of the fans. No, Marte shouldn't get a strong ovation if he comes back. Pods was more than a bit player on that team.
-
Scotty Pods
He should be cheered wildly. I forgot he was on that team. Ex-Sox tend to kill us. Even ex Cubs like Floyd. We're f***ed. Scotty will have a big series. Rats.

Sox @ DET, 6-12, 12:05 CT, CSN
The Twinks have no chance, just like the Royals. It's us, Detroit and Cleveland. Hope the bats come alive at home this weekend. We ain't gonna win anything with the bats that showed in Detroit.

What's wrong with Quentin.
I agree he should be rested if hurt, but I don't think we can assume we won't need him. I know you said hopefully. Sucks that Quentin has cooled off. Hope he makes adjustments in the long season or simply gets healthy.

And that's a Tigers sweep
I don't know if "inexcusable" is the right word. Baseball is a marathon. We kicked ass on that homestand. We sucked on the road in Detroit. It's so early in the season, this series meant nothing. Yes it probably "woke up" Detroit sort of. Detroit will only stay woke up if the Tigers' keep it going next series. Face it ... we have a bizarre baseball team. We need to pound the baseball at home again and start consistently winning series rather than just sweeping people and/or getting swept. You couldn't possibly have thought we were going to run away with the division based on a home sweep of the Twinks and Royals????? We've had too many s***ty series to think we're going to run away with anything.
-
Sox @ DET, 6-12, 12:05 CT, CSN
We had that glorious homestand following some horrid offensive baseball. We are what we are ... a decent team. No way we are going to run away with this division. I can't see how anybody would think that will happen. Now we suck on the road all of a sudden. We are a weird baseball team.

Sox hitters need more regular rest
I kind of agree. I mean these guys still do pre game workouts, still take a million hacks in the cage, they just don't play in the games when they get "rested." A baseball game isn't that taxing physically, especially batting. Ripken was an all star every year and never took a day off. I don't know about this rest thing. But I do think what you say about Fields makes sense sort of.

Some Sox/Cubs fun
No way we were gonna miss Zambrano. We have to beat him up. Will Thome be in the lineup?
-
Sox-Cubs World Series?
Good point. If we don't beat Rogers, we're officially in a losing streak.

2008 White Sox Catch-All Thread
They shouldn't of messed with Quentin at all. He's cooled off a tad of late, hasn't he?
-
Sox @ DET, 6-12, 12:05 CT, CSN
Kenny Rogers has pitched well of late, but is not that good anymore. For gawd sakes it's time to light up the old man. I have a sneaky feeling we are so streaky good and bad that he might shut us down. That means Mark has to stay with Kenny pitch for pitch and repeat his last game as well. GO SOX!

White Sox @ Tigers 6:05pm WCIU-HD
Of course the Tigers aren't dead yet. That 7 game win streak in the last homestand didn't win us the division. Just 2 weeks ago that 4 or 5 game lead we had dipped to one before we killed the Twinks. The Tigers aren't going anywhere and we still are a weird team. If we don't win tomorrow, we're on a losing streak in case you haven't noticed. Up and down, baby.

Sox-Cubs World Series?
A Sox-Cubs world series would be so great it's beyond explanation. Just the intros to the games on FOX would be amazing. I remember those intros to the games in The Cell during the Series. They were awesome. I love seeing the city in those intros and stories on the city going nuts. I think that series could go either way. If the Cubs' big bats were quiet, we'd win it I think in five. I think this year's Cubs-Sox games are going to be incredible. We need to play better against those clowns this year than a year ago.

Swish and OC
Swisher is very easy to cheer for if you read his quotes and see his interviews on TV. Class act; gotta hope he gets that average up and builds on that two homer game. Early on, he had so many ohfers it just drove me crazy and made me want BA in the lineup.

Mariotti hides behind his editors, as other ST writers slam him
Disagree with some of your post. He does not try to be a total idiot. He's not that clueless. He's writing what he thinks are good columns. He has talent in terms of writing. He's very clever with his puns on names, etc. He's not trying to be an idiot to get attention IMO. ALso I don't think he's sold his soul. He obviously does truly hate Oz and Reinsdorf. I would agree he has no class. And his topics for columns are out of Columnist 101 (first team QB sucks, play the backup; rip on the manager; rip on the coach; rip on the owner; very stereotypical). I think both papers are great however for sports. Love to read Couch and the Sox beat writers in both papers. Like the Trib columnists very much as well. Great h.school coverage in both papers. Chicago is fortunate to have good sports sections IMO.

6/10 - Sox @ DET, 6:05 CT, CSN
I don't quite understand that sentence. All games are meaningful. Our division lead can wilt to nothing in a week. It's a marathon. Remember September of our title season? Keep plugging away, Sox. Lots of hits tonight, but not enough runs. Rare bad start by a pitcher.
-
Sox-Cubs World Series?
I think this year's Sox-Cub series will tell us a lot about the Sox. The games are rare regular season games that will have playoffs/WS intensity, though the Cubs don't know what WS intensity is. With the first games in Wrigley, we're going to be challenged. Hope our pitchers avoid the gopher ball and our big guys hit a batch of homers.

Swish and OC
Yes. Completely. That was a big part of my worry. Swish and OC were simply horrid at the plate night after night. I wonder if the Sox will only play really well against teams in their own division this year.
