  1. Great website. Mariotti was exposed last year when the Trib blogger chronicled all his flip flops during the Sox's magical season. That's all you need to know about him. He's a good writer who has zero perspective. He just writes day to day, not remembering or caring what he wrote before. Every day is a new day, a new opinion, in his mind he cares not if he had a totally different opinion a month prior. Most respected columnists take a position and stick with it, though those columnists (Southtown, Trib) tend to write more dull columns than Mariotti because they don't flip flop and have no desire to risk their integrity by flip floppin. That Trib writer who chronicled ALL last year's flip flops is amazing. He exposed Mariotti as the flip flopper he is. He also is a great writer.
  2. Say what you want, the Tigers are good. Good for them to take care of the inept Royals 4 straight in KC when we go in there and can't win the series. I'll still take the Sox over Det., but I have a feeling Detroit is a playoff team. Chi and Detroit are both going to make the playoffs edging out Bos or NY.
  3. Oz has no choice. Maybe this will make Anderson wake up and get some hits. I don't think Mack is a great player and he's not a good defender compared to Anderson, but Oz has no choice. Hitting .160 is not acceptable. Ozzie said "tough right handers" and he'll sit Anderson. I think that's good. Who can blame him??? As far as it hurting Anderson's confidence, I doubt that. If it does, then too bad for Anderson. If he wants to make money in this game like you know he wants to, he's going to have to hit better than .160.
  4. Thank god we won that game. Now ESPN can say whatever they want and it won't bother us, cause we won. Glad to see Hurt homer. The rest of his at bats against us the rest of his career should be greeted with no response at all. I wonder if his ego can take that.
  5. Cotts may have stunk after the fact but he's out of the inning obviously if Juan doesn't blow that easy d.p. relay. It is alarming the meat Cotts threw up there after the error, but technically that inning is over, then it's Jenks time.
  6. It's hard to believe he threw that ball away. He had so much time. His at bats today certainly were a joke. It's time to play Cintron some more. Uribe needs a makeover at the plate.
  7. It is a wild coincidence like fathom noted that the Cubs "rally" started right after he brought up Moronotti. That was weird.
  8. Maybe it is over, kalapse, but I'd think AJ would find it tough to forget a supposed friend bashing him in the face with no warning.
  9. You'd think next time AJ comes to bat when Barrett is catching there will be trouble. I mean AJ got slugged in the face with no warning.
  10. If AJ gets suspended, baseball is a joke. Why would AJ get suspended for getting sucker punched?
  11. I know this probably was touched on in the game thread, but I figured why not reiterate some more ... It was a pleasure to watch Buehrle pitch today. Man, when he gets a lead and is focused ... he was taking that ball in the 7th, 8th and 9th and just bringing it. All the Cubs could do was whack the ball at vacuum cleaner Crede. Amazing effort by Buehrle and Crede. Keep it up, Sox. Don't let the Scrubs beat us at home p.s. The Cubs lousy announcers did bring up a good point. We can play just one guys - Thome or Konerko - in NL parks. Hope that doesn't cost us.

    Don't ... want ... Ozuna.
  13. We don't suck, we have one of the best records out there, but we definitely need to pick it up pitching wise. Like last year we'll go only as far as our pitching and D take us. Sure we can hit ... so what. It's all about pitching and defense. We still have the potential to be the best in both.
  14. Second place sucks.
  15. Such a bad at bat by Iguchi. He had to get on base and didn't.
  16. "If we played the way the Cubs played, there would be 2,000 people in the ballpark, believe me,'' Guillen said. "I know there may be some fans that are going to hate me for that, [but] it's a Cubs town. I hope the Sox rally around Oz this weekend. This certainly will be Cubs' rallying cry this weekend. "If we played the way the Cubs player, there would be 2000 in the park," means 'If we played the crap brand of baseball the Cubs played there'd be 2000 in the park." I love Oz for his candidness. Hope his players play hard cause the Cubs figure to be pissed after reading the sox skipper saying they suck.
  17. True, heads22, but at some point, if he expects to be a big league player contributing to the world champions' lineup, he needs a .350 or .400 month to make up for his s*** first month and a half.
  18. Yea, great points. I just hope Anderson can get it into the .250 range with some ribbies before too long.
  19. I didn't see the game, but considering he didn't walk anybody and struck out five and gave up just six hits, it sounds like he did well. If he can build on this, he still can win a lot of games and his experience will be important come September and playoff time. Because of what he did in the postseason I am more apt to give him a break a few more weeks.
  20. Mack's been hitting better of late with 7 hits in his last 14 at bats, just one extra base hit, though. If Mack is over his season opening slump would you be surprised to see his platooning with Anderson if Brian doesn't start hitting better?
  21. You don't start worrying in May is all I'm saying. He's 3-2. He's not an Elarton-like 0-5.
  22. KW

If he's never played of and nobody is talking about him being moved to of, how are you so sure he will be in lf in 08??
  23. I'm not talking about a free pass to be bad. The guy is 3-2 and yes he's been pretty s***ty, but not so s***ty as to not give him a break for a while. I think some people just hate Garland and always will. Not saying you are one of them, but he'll be Judy to some, forever.
  24. Detroit has been winning with Maggs not hitting the last week or so. Anybody notice the Royals let Cleveland off the hook last night and now it appears the Tribe has woken from its slumber? That was a gimme win and KC blows a 3 run lead in ninth. It would have been nice for KC to win the opener of that set, rather than let the Tribe perhaps start getting its act together.
  25. Great, great line. Made me laugh. I still love Hawk. He's awesome. And DJ too, though I liked Wimpy better years ago.
