  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 07:52 AM) Then who goes into the 2 spot? That was a black hole before Eaton. He's at least competent there. Bat Anderson second if you don't wanna move him to fifth or sixth. He will strike out some, but since he won't walk, he'll either K or put the ball in play which will move Eaton.
  2. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) He would definitely need to get better at taking walks to be a good lead-off guy. But the combination of him and Eaton at the top of the order is working so well. For now, I don't think the Sox want to change anything. Aren't the Sox like one or two over .500 with Anderson aboard? That's not exactly a great team. Folks, I worship Anderson. I have no complaints. But cmon. It's embarrassing to have a leadoff hitter with one walk in as many at bats as he has. He has no chance of drawing a walk which means the law of averages over 500 or 550 at bats is going to give him at maximum, about a .275 average. If he was selective and could walk a reasonable amount, he'd be AWESOME. he's got some pop, so mercifully move him to fifth or sixth in the order. If you must have him that high, bat him second and he can advance Eaton. If you are worried about Tim's strikeouts, again, bat him fifth or sixth. It's just beyond belief this guy can't get on base unless it's via bat on ball. MOVE HIM DOWN, ROBIN. It's just gonna be a matter of time the baseball gods thrust him in a 1-for-25 type slump and get that average way down. Why? Cause he won't walk.
  3. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 06:28 AM) I think a Manager should protect his starters by pulling them out when they are struggling and give up a lot of runs in early innings or when they are getting whacked for multiple home runs. Pitchers need to have confidence and allowing them to get taken apart and riddled like Sale was is not a good idea.,,,,especially when it against former team mates and a shiddy team like the Braves. I agree leon, but Sale is a different cat. You can't yank him out of a game when he's struggling before he hits 90-100 pitches, at least gets through five innings. Sale freaks out like a handful of pitchers do. He's barked at Robin before. I actually think Robin hooked him at the right time. Wasn't it after the eighth run or ninth? Even Sale can't disagree there, but I know what you are saying. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 06:33 AM) Why is Beck pitching in a game we actually have a chance of winning? The Braves are terrible and the Sox easily could've tied this one back up. Seriously I don't want to see a pitcher of Beck/Carroll's caliber ever again unless we are losing by more than 5-6 runs after the 6th inning. Robin is such a terrible manager of the bullpen it's laughable. He doesn't have the rookie manager excuse anymore he's repeated the same mistakes long enough now that it's obvious he doesn't get it. Very frustrating. Robin seems to give up way too often and he gave up tonight again. The Sox the last 3-4 seasons have had so many bad pitchers it really has had an effect on our not making the playoffs. Some of these guys like Carroll and Beck and others are so bad I truly believe some Soxtalkers could get hits off them.
  4. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 05:48 AM) Mt greenwood is still the same. Then my grade school, Queen of Martrys is probably all white.
  5. If Flowers and Beckham do any more damage this series, I'd fire Robin just for that. Or Cooper. I mean my gosh people, Flowers and Beckham? Arguably two of the 10 worse ballplayers in the league (if they were still in AL).
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) Why do the pasts of the victims always become public and rarely or never are the cops? Damn, that is a great question.
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 05:56 PM) When did you go there, the 1950's? In the 80's when I went it was 30% black while Marist and Laurence were 0%. It dropped a little in the 90's when they had some issues with race but never below 10% and now it is back up to 30%. Do you just sit and make things up? I had no idea it was 30 percent now. My bad. That's cool. I wonder how many African Americans are in Mt. Greenwood now. That's cool if there are a ton in the neighborhood. THere were a lot of racists in Mt. Greenwood when I lived there.
  8. It just amazes me how many ex-White Sox just KILL the White Sox when they get a chance. It's just uncanny. I mean we're talking Beckham and Flowers here, two of the biggest disappointments the Sox have had in a while.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 04:30 AM) Robin has done it all year. He's a clueless clown but Eaton had his chance and there were others. Tonight is on Sale and the pen. Embarrassing loss. Robin is OK, but he lacks urgency and competitiveness and it hurts the team. Someday if we have so much more talent than every other team, he'll be a perfect manager for that team.
  10. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 04:18 AM) Embarrassing? Really to who. Some random guy from Kansas on an internet board doesn't approve of his plate discipline. Maybe he will retire. LOL You don't think it'd be better to flip flop Eaton and Anderson? Or bat him sixth? It's embarrassing that drawing a walk is not part of his repertoire. Nothing to do with Anderson ... but embarrassing loss tonight. Sad.
  11. QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 04:11 AM) Why? He's been doing just great batting leadoff. Are you being negative just for the sake of being negative again? No sir. I LOVE Anderson. But a leadoff hitter has to draw some walks and it's embarrassing, flat out embarrassing that he won't do it.
  12. Can anybody give me one reason Anderson should remain our leadoff hitter?
  13. I love Tim Anderson, but please get him out of the leadoff spot.
  14. Beckham and Flowers are a combined 5 for 8 with three RBIs, lol. I guarantee you there was never a game they combined for five hits as White Sox. Ridiculous, Sox scouts take a bow.
  15. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 03:47 AM) Navarro brings absolutely nothing to the table. he is literally one of the worst catchers in baseball. Our catching situation is one of the reasons I never considered the Sox a playoff contender.
  16. Coulldn't we have pinch hit for Sanchez there? Conceding the game it seems to me letting him bat.
  17. QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 03:27 AM) Would anyone be shocked if the Sox get swept? No, but we are pretty good outside of the AL Central.
  18. Eaton, a good player, picked a bad time for a horrific at bat. Hate to say Game Over, but it's gonna be tough to make up five runs in three innings. Sad.
  19. This is flat out embarrassing. Beckham and Flowers, who were so bad on a regular basis as White Sox that it was a travesty, are murdering the Sox as members of the Atlanta Braves. Guess the Sox scouts are so bad they don't even know how to get those two stiffs out. Amazing.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 06:15 AM) OR people just giving up completely and becoming apathetic and numb. I think many are apathetic and numb both. I've seen some compassion in this thread, but normally I feel like as long as our families are not affected in these tragedies many scoff and say, "It's not that bad; we're still the best country in the world." I think we're in trouble as a nation. One of these is going to be the one that erupts all over the country on the same night with huge riots in most all the major cities. This one may or may not be that one.
  21. That's cool he's in the contest. I don't care if he slumps the second half. It's not like this team is a true contender. Have fun and maybe he'll get that home run stroke going. s***, he tries to hit a home run every at bat anyway. Might as well enter.
  22. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 11:47 PM) Brother Rice. Explains a lot. I don't know why nobody else will say they are not thrilled about looking at 50ish transgenders in miniskirts n high heels. I mean it's not a pleasant sight even though they have a right to do whatever they want. I didn't do anything to the person, I just expressed on an internet message board that I did indeed leave the area and did not enter the Subway to eat at the same time as the transgendered woman.
  23. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) Glad the governor manned up and said what needed to be said. f*** that cop. Nice!!! And tonight Obama is gonna blast away. About time, government officials!!! This was a murder. Five f***ing bullets sitting in your car with a woman and little kid in the car. THIS IS AWFUL!!!
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) I never understood this irrational fear of color of somebody's skin. Greg, now you've done it...remember your Subway LGBT/bathroom comments? How is there any difference between irrational fear of an African-American or Mexican-American and someone who's LGBT making you feel uncomfortable? How can one be rational and the other not? (Unless you want to argue the whole nature vs. nurture, it's a decision or choice to be LGBT, but who would deliberately choose that with all the prejudice they would face in life?) Caulfield, I wasn't afraid or wanting to physically harm the transgender wearing the dress and heels and stumbling into the Subway. I was trying to be nice on this message board by not saying how I truly felt -- that is, I was losing my appetite looking at her. Am I a sinner for this mental atrocity? Yes. I am not perfect. But at least I'm admitting the sight of her was not pleasing to my eyes. Should I be a better person than that? Sure. I guess I could have sat with the transgendered person at dinner and tried to force myself to not be so dismayed by her appearance, but on that day, my faults as a human being surfaced. Maybe she thinks I'm a gross, ugly MF. She has that right. I've never had a problem with being around African Americans even though at Brother Rice I think we had maybe less than five total black students when I was there. All recruited athletes I think. I truly am colorblind. Believe it.
  25. I'm glad Obama said both he and Michelle were horrified. He needs to speak out against police who are cold blooded killers. Hope there are no riots tonight.
