  1. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) This weekend is precisely why I think it would be foolish for the front office to "go for it" and trade more potential future assets (off the major league roster or the minor leagues)on the slim chance they can somehow grab the second wild card spot. You lose two of three AT HOME to the worst team in baseball. The only consistent thing about the White Sox is their frustratingly inconsistency. Still shaking my head over this weekend. Now add in the fact they are unable to beat Cleveland, Kansas City or Detroit on a regular basis and you see "going for it" is a fool's errand. Mark You speak the truth. I don't know why people don't like my suggestion that could rebuild this team in a hurry. ... Over the all star break identifiy the young studs on contenders' AA and AAA teams and GO GET THEM. Look, contenders will want the guys I want to deal: Melky, Robertson, Frazier, Duke, Lawrie, Avila, Navarro. Somebody might also want Avi and/or Shuck. Trade Q as well if you get an unbelievable haul in return. Get a boatload of players for these guys and rebuild around Sale, Abreu, Eaton, Anderson, Saladino and maybe Q. Nate can become the closer until the offseason when we buy one via free agency. GO SOX!
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) In other words...stopped for being black. Shows that like many have said it's a way of life for many African Americans. Cops stop them. Sad people can't just live their lives peacefully. Cops have no reason to stop him that many times.
  3. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) Nap time this game sucks. Series has sucked. Very disappointed in this club These guys don't care much about winning IMO. Low on the priority list.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 03:51 AM) Semien's 14th in OPS and 13th in WAR at SS right now. Not a franchise cornerstone (those home run numbers mask some of his other deficiencies, like OBP and defense)...but a very very solid player. (As someone pointed out, at worst, the equivalent of Frazier at 3B this year). Let's just call it (Marcus' level at present) the absolute upside of Saladino on the WAR side of things. Realistically, he's not a consistent 3.5-4.5 WAR player every year...but maybe I'm wrong. Even a 3 WAR at SS under cost control (or 2B, in this case) is a huge way to balance out those veteran contracts. The guy has 19 home runs! In the article I linked they LOVE his improved defense. The guy just might be our Lou Brock-Ernie Broglio trade before it's over. Semien has 19 home runs! They were calling for him to be an all star already in Oakland. And we discard him. AWFUL. Meanwhile another stud, Saladino, sits day after day. Just make Saladino DH if we won't trade Laurie and give him second base or trade Frazier and give him third. Heck stick him in right field. He can hit.
  5. Minnesota police are tear-gassing people Sat night at 11 and trying to break up the protest which has marched to I-94. A Highway. Here's my stance about protests: The people are ON THE f***ING HIGHWAY. If you are gonna protest on a freeway and impede the lives of others who want to use the freeway, sorry protestors you deserve to be arrested. GO AHEAD and protest all you want ... in a safe spot. Do you soxtalkers agree with me on this?? Sitdown on a freeway?? I say you should be arrested if you are f***ing sitting on a freeway. Finally I also am against marching into the Taste of Chicago and yelling at people. I feel if you do that you SHOULD be arrested during the protest. Tourists and fellow Chicagoans alike are trying to enjoy an event like the Taste and should not be harassed during such an event!!!!! Comments?
  6. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 02:33 AM) Why are people suggesting selling when this team is over .500 going into the break instead of talking about what it would take to get the one player on the market who would be a substantive and worthwhile upgrade (Jonathan Lucroy)? Cause I fell for it last year. Exact same situation. Sox went completely in the tank right after the break. This team doesn't have what it takes and I can see that clearly. SELL.
  7. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 02:58 AM) Just be up by 8 runs early and no need to worry about this Tell that to the Royals, who rallied from a 7-run deficit vs. the Sox in the ninth.
  8. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 12:53 AM) No team that's out of the race is going to give up a cheap young bat with upside. That's what these rebuilding teams are currently stockpiling. Didn't we give up one of those a few years ago in Semien? Looks like getting rid of Semien, as expected, was a horrible decision. Maybe a fireable offense. He should be on the all-star team and with those power numbers you are looking at one, productive player. We could have had Anderson at short and Semien at second for 15 years. Sad. And don't be a Semien hater just cause u are jealous of the A's. He's productive doggone-it. Don't deny it. http://www.athleticsnation.com/2016/6/28/1...chise-shortstop
  9. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 11:22 PM) Hopefully they can win the series tomorrow then the front office can reassess things. Mark Glad to see Jones wrap up the save against a horrible team. We'll take the home W. If Hahn could develop a master plan he could pull it off easier during the season than the winter. Figure out what young players you want and then deal off Frazier, Robertson, Melky, Avi, Navarro, Avila, Lawrie. Keep Q, Sale and Rodon and keep Abreu and Eaton and see what happens.
  10. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 10:40 PM) For continuously putting Albers in high leverage situations. Albers is horrible I agree. Release him.
  11. QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) We somehow overcame Ventura's stupidity to win. Except for Albers (and that's Hahn's fault for having him on the roster) what were you mad at Robin about? Walklng the bases loaded may have been dumb but it worked. Duke and Nate were OK.
  12. If we traded David means we are selling! Please be true. Hope we got 3-4 YOUNG prospects who can hit.
  13. Nice play by Jose. Frazier kinda choked on that throw. Jose baby!
  14. AH, did Sox trade David R to start the selling?
  15. One hopper off the butt? He ain't hurt.
  16. Francouer hits two home runs in one game I'm gonna cry.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) Yup, need to win the series and maintain our positive momentum going into the All-Star break. I don't believe in momentum before the AS break. Sox in the Robin era have a horrible stretch right after the break no matter what. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 07:06 PM) But Anderson doesn't walk?! Lol please. He's fine at lead off for now. You can worship Anderson, love Anderson and realize he's no leadoff hitter for the long term. Where are all the Sabes people backing me up on this? Bat him fifth, sixth. Or even second since he's swinging at everything. He'll move Abreu in theory.
  18. Albers must be released. What a horrible pitcher.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 05:37 AM) The Sox aren't selling. Why not? They're not drawing fans with this .500 flirtation. They are not a playoff contender. Just start dumping guys we don't need. Dump Robertson, Avila, Navarro, Lawrie, Frazier, Melky, Duke, Jennings and Quintana if you must and see what kinda young team you can build from that.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 07:52 AM) Then who goes into the 2 spot? That was a black hole before Eaton. He's at least competent there. Bat Anderson second if you don't wanna move him to fifth or sixth. He will strike out some, but since he won't walk, he'll either K or put the ball in play which will move Eaton.
  21. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) He would definitely need to get better at taking walks to be a good lead-off guy. But the combination of him and Eaton at the top of the order is working so well. For now, I don't think the Sox want to change anything. Aren't the Sox like one or two over .500 with Anderson aboard? That's not exactly a great team. Folks, I worship Anderson. I have no complaints. But cmon. It's embarrassing to have a leadoff hitter with one walk in as many at bats as he has. He has no chance of drawing a walk which means the law of averages over 500 or 550 at bats is going to give him at maximum, about a .275 average. If he was selective and could walk a reasonable amount, he'd be AWESOME. he's got some pop, so mercifully move him to fifth or sixth in the order. If you must have him that high, bat him second and he can advance Eaton. If you are worried about Tim's strikeouts, again, bat him fifth or sixth. It's just beyond belief this guy can't get on base unless it's via bat on ball. MOVE HIM DOWN, ROBIN. It's just gonna be a matter of time the baseball gods thrust him in a 1-for-25 type slump and get that average way down. Why? Cause he won't walk.
  22. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 06:28 AM) I think a Manager should protect his starters by pulling them out when they are struggling and give up a lot of runs in early innings or when they are getting whacked for multiple home runs. Pitchers need to have confidence and allowing them to get taken apart and riddled like Sale was is not a good idea.,,,,especially when it against former team mates and a shiddy team like the Braves. I agree leon, but Sale is a different cat. You can't yank him out of a game when he's struggling before he hits 90-100 pitches, at least gets through five innings. Sale freaks out like a handful of pitchers do. He's barked at Robin before. I actually think Robin hooked him at the right time. Wasn't it after the eighth run or ninth? Even Sale can't disagree there, but I know what you are saying. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 06:33 AM) Why is Beck pitching in a game we actually have a chance of winning? The Braves are terrible and the Sox easily could've tied this one back up. Seriously I don't want to see a pitcher of Beck/Carroll's caliber ever again unless we are losing by more than 5-6 runs after the 6th inning. Robin is such a terrible manager of the bullpen it's laughable. He doesn't have the rookie manager excuse anymore he's repeated the same mistakes long enough now that it's obvious he doesn't get it. Very frustrating. Robin seems to give up way too often and he gave up tonight again. The Sox the last 3-4 seasons have had so many bad pitchers it really has had an effect on our not making the playoffs. Some of these guys like Carroll and Beck and others are so bad I truly believe some Soxtalkers could get hits off them.
  23. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 05:48 AM) Mt greenwood is still the same. Then my grade school, Queen of Martrys is probably all white.
  24. If Flowers and Beckham do any more damage this series, I'd fire Robin just for that. Or Cooper. I mean my gosh people, Flowers and Beckham? Arguably two of the 10 worse ballplayers in the league (if they were still in AL).
