Game Thread 7/23/2016
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 03:28 AM) Hopefully, making his team pay for his immaturity will make an impression on him. Cmon. You think his teammates feel let down? This is millionaire baseball. They know Sale's a f***ing stud and KW and the rest of the suits are clowns. This team proved long ago this season it's not a "team." They don't give a f*** what Sale did. He backs it up with performance. He's the best player on the damn team; he can do whatever he wants.

Game Thread 7/23/2016
Sale will go on and dominate for years to come; our Sox sadly were a one-hit wonder (2005). It was a glorious year and I thank you White Sox forever for that. But wow I am a fan of a crap organization. I back Chris Sale 100 percent? Why? Cause he knows management blows. If it's not the uniform it's LaRoche or something else. Sale is elite; our management team is not. Can anybody dispute that?? I know it's a travesty to say this. I almost wish they traded him to to Cubs now just so he could no hit us this season then win three games in the WS. Long live Chris Sale!

TRADE CHRIS SALE NOW
I'll back a player like Chris Sale over our s*** management team anyday. He's produced. They haven't. Except for what sadly turned into that one year wonder called a WS title. I will always shake KW's hand and Oz's hand for that and Jerry but this organization blows. More power to Sale. Those uniforms do suck.

Chris Sale scratched from start
I fully support Chris Sale on this. The way our organization is run right now is a disgrace. This is a very dismal time for the White Sox. The team is going nowhere and Sale is one of the very very rare bright spots. If he's totally uncomfortable wearing those uniforms he should not pitch in them. Good for him. I'm sure nobody asked the players if they were OK with them and on the same page. The five prospects we get for him better be pretty damn good.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (juddling @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) And Hillary could get up on stage, pull a puppy out from under her podium, say to the crowd "f*** puppies" and punt it 40 yards and all the media(and her supporters) would do is spend the next few days saying the puppy deserved it. It's amazing that all the reporters are Democrats. They are so in favor of Hillary it's obscene almost. If I were Trump I would take the direct approach with a bit of humor. Go ahead and announce at the first debate, I respect my esteemed opponent's right to run for President, but in protest of the FBI email case I'm going to refer to her as CH for Crooked Hillary. And then just keep saying Crooked Hillary or CH when referring to her.

Chris Sale scratched from start
Pitching Albers is just conceding another game. Pretty poor when an organization is so poor it has to concede a game. Doesn't have anybody to pick up a spot start. Trading Sale is a very bad idea. If you are gonna trade a guy you don't handle it this way. I'm telling you, organizations are quickly evaluating huge-name prospects that they believe will be like Avi, flops. Those are the guys the Sox will acquire. Remember how high a draft pick Beckham was?? This is how you sit in last place for 5-10 years. Making bulls*** trades at the wrong time. Our trade window has already closed for this year as far as I'm considered. Highway robbery coming.

Not Giving up Yet but ....
The Sox are so irrelevant right now. Even some people on this board recognized and realized this team is not a contender long ago. And just now Hahn says something about being mired in mediocrity and may change/sell. WTF. Show some leadership and figure it out after the 23-10 start turned to mush. The team folded like a wet blanket after the disaster game. The team had played enough games vs the Central for anybody with half a baseball brain to realize the team is toast again for this season. I've been clamoring he start the trade parade for at least a month. He's a millionaire and a baseball genius. He should know how to assess teams/talent better. Now, f***, he's going to start selling now?? After proclaiming that the team is mired in mediocrity? Once again, GMs have a chance to start thinking about ways to fleece the Sox. They can start thinking about name prospects they have that they've started to lose faith in to dump on the Sox. Simply ridiculous. These trades he makes may ultimately turn the Sox to even a worse team for some time to come if the fleece scenario happens. I'm very disappointed. Why not be the leader for once and he could have started selling parts when it was damn obvious this team reeks. And it's pretty obvious. I don't know how in the hell they have flirted close to .500. That's a miracle in itself. ALL THAT SAID, Mr. Hahn, don't trade Sale or Q or Abreu or Eaton or Anderson. Get some better coaches to work with Abreu for gawd sakes and trade virtually everybody else u can. No value in those others? I dunno. Do you job make it happen. Or wait til the offseason now that you've blown it again with inaction and your stupid interview about mediocrity.

Not Giving up Yet but ....
I've been busy. What the hell is our record after the all star break? Doesn't it reek? Poor Mourneau. Our record reeks with him even though he's doing OK. More losses to the Central as expected. It was time to sell weeks ago! Hahn should be ashamed for waiting waiting waiting. This isn't the year we're going to turn it around vs. the Central.

I was wrong on the double woman ticket. Didn't think I'd be wrong on that one.

White Sox Listening on Sale
You know I am not in favor of trading Sale. I am in favor of selling selling. It makes no sense. What you do is keep Sale and Q and Abreu and Eaton and Anderson and absolutley trade everybody else and try again. It's almost too late already. We're waiting too long again this year and I don't like it.

2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:06 AM) A speech that will go down in history. The energy in that building was insane. Been very busy this week and haven't been able to watch. Are u serious? Was it a good speech by Trump? Highlights?

And that's a White Sox Winner
That was one of those games that Hahn and Robin would take every single night. Play like that and you are a contender. But we all know this team isn't consistent. So happy for Q. He gets the win. Frazier has 27 bombs. As much as I rip him and others do, that's a lot of bombs. He's gonna hit 40.

2016 AL Central catch-all thread
As far as the Central, If Cleveland takes 2 of 3 in KC this week, it's over for KC. They're done. If KC sweeps which they've managed to do when on the carpet before, they still have a chance. However ... the Royals really have no business being in the race. Gordon is hitting just over .200 right now, about .210. Cain has been hurt. The starting rotation has been awful except for Duffy and I guess Ventura (taking the games against the Sox out of the equation when all the Royals pitchers and hitters have looked like all stars). Soria has really hurt them. He's a very lousy back end of the bullpen guy. Horrific on the road (cept in the Cell where they are 5-1) the only sign of the confident World Champs has been at home where they've still had some magic. They have a streak where they lose eight of 10 again, you can put a fork in their wild card hopes. They're about dead now.

Baton Rouge Police Officers Shooting
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 01:03 AM) The time for talk is done. It's about to get super bloody and hopefully after the dust settles, we'll realize, "you know, we're all humans... let's stop these shenanigans..." Well, if the country has declared a war on police, they are going to have to respond. No cop wants to die on the job. I mean there are going to be a lot of commands, "Put your hands on the steering wheel NOW" after simple stops. Also if there is a car stranded on the road I dunno if cops will be stopping to help. Could be a fricking ambush.

What to do at the Trade Deadline
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 05:49 AM) THIS If we wait too long again to pull the trigger on trades I don't want any til the offseason. If the Sox wait and wait and make the third or fourth deal before the deadline, I sense they will be lousy trades again. I want us to steal some good players and do it now before other teams gobble up said prospects.

Abreu and Frazier
QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 04:01 AM) I might have worded it poorly, but we're just not going to agree on this. If a guy is playing horribly and killing his team, I don't appreciate seeing him ham it up at a pointless exhibition during a potential break. I'm as big an internet message board dick as anybody, but even I disagree with this. Cmon, let him have some fun in the Home Run Derby. It was good to see a White Sox in the final. I don't think it harmed anybody. I don't think it probably hurt Frazier at all. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 05:52 AM) My wishful thinking was it'd loosen him up and make him play better. Good way of looking at it. The greatness in the dugouts could also rub off on him. Let's face it. The White Sox are at a low point in their history right now. Not a contender and far from being a contender since Robin's first year. We've had 3-4 years of suckiness. Nice to see some positive press for the White Sox at the HR Derby.

Robin Ventura should definitely, certainly be fired today
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize things haven't worked out very well in the Robin era. That'd be funny if after we get eliminated in early September the Sox dominate the rest of the month and he stays again, lol. It'll be hard to fire him if they rattle off 10-12 wins in a row to end the season.

What to do at the Trade Deadline
Thing is ... Sox fans I believe are finally in favor of selling a ton of players. It's not like this method of hanging around .500 is accomplishing anything. The last two seasons have been PAINFULLY difficult to watch with the exception of April this year. If the Sox think April was no fluke, then get a fricking new manager to see if this tactic can get us a playoff berth. If not, SELL and see what happens. You can sell a ton of players and still keep the nucleus of Sale, Q, Rodon and Shields with Nate as the new closer. Rebuild the rest of the team. Keep Abreu and Eaton if you must. And of course Anderson.
-
What to do at the Trade Deadline
Sell. I've already bored everybody with my list of players to dump. I will summarize and quickly add. ... • Package Frazier and Robertson this week. Get this ball rolling. • Trade Shields and get a TON for him. He could be very very valuable to a contender. Get it done soon. Before we're settling for scraps. • Trade Melky but rob somebody blind. Get good players for Melky Cabrera!!! NL to the Giants or somebody. • Trade both catchers ASAP. Try to get a young reliever in both deals. Somebody might want Navarro for pinch hitter or experience down the stretch. • Trade Lawrie and Duke in a package. Try to get a couple guys who are under 25. Don't settle. Somebody will want Lawrie and Duke. • Trade Avi to an NL team where he can try again. Get what you can. • Trade Shuck. I've probably forgotten some. TRADE TRADE TRADE. Keep Eaton, Abreu, Sale, Q. I wouldn't be against keeping Shields either. Sale, Q, Rodon, Shields is a decent four for next season.

7/17 Game Thread: @ Anaheim, 2:35pm, WGN
One run in three games is another LOL. I picked up Weaver for one day to bolster my 3 fantasy teams. Of course he was available in all 3 leagues, lol. I knew that was a lock for a good boost to my staff numbers this week. Time to drop him. Look I love Anderson. I am not blasting him. But he's down to .279. Before you freak out on me, I think he should be sent down the rest of the year. Why? He's had a nice run where he got his feet wet. But he has to learn how to take a walk. Take what he's learned up here and go down and finish up strong and incorporate taking some pitches into his game. Nobody said it was easy. If he stays up, he's likely to soon be in the .220 range and nobody wants that. I'd send Anderson down for the final phase of his seasoning. Look ... he can't survive with this approach. But he has shown so much talent. Our team is going nowhere so I'd suggest sending him down. COMMENTS???

Abreu and Frazier
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) The Sox won't give Saladino 1 or 2 spot starts a week in this bottom 1/3 offense; they certainly won't use him as pinch hitter for one of their best hitters (or one they perceive as such). The reality is that Saladino has improved a lot as a hitter this year (albeit in a small sample size). But once the White Sox org. deems someone, especially a young player, as worthy of a limited role, that's that. As for Frazier, I certainly hope he had a rousing, delightful time playing home run derby, he so begged the Sox to allow him to do. This discussion is kind of silly. You don't, like many have said, pinch hit a guy who SHOULD be able to hit a fly ball there for Saladino. That's ridiculous. Frazier is our highly paid starting slugger. It's the spot you WANT him to be in. Just because we Sox fans knew he was toast there, doesn't mean you pinch hit for him. It would have been national news there, sure it would have. Saladino for Frazier just cause he figures to make contact? Can't ever do something like that. It would be an embarrassment to Frazier, saying he can't hit a fly ball there.

White Sox Acquire James Shields
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) Six teams, including Boston and Toronto, ahead of the team for that second wild card spot. Check. Six teams. That's incredible to think some people think we are in the race. Sell. This is just like last year. I want us to sell now, not after other teams start dumping players and we get scraps for "name" players. I'd trade Frazier and Robertson ASAP and get this thing rolling.

Baton Rouge Police Officers Shooting
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) I imagine these type of attacks will only increase. Not sure how you can stop it now. Sad and scary. Some guy walking down the highway with a rifle. I was reading a story about a doctor from Ireland who last week decided to move back to Ireland with his wife, deeming the USA just too dangerous. We really are a dangerous country right now. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 08:00 PM) I own guns and generally support the right for most people to own them, but I find it completely f***ed up how easy it is to purchase an assault rifle. There is absolutely no practical purpose for them unless you want your people armed to help deter the threat of a foreign invasion. Pretty crazy that an everyday Joe can pretty easily outgun local law enforcement. Actually some of the people are convinced they need guns in case their own government turns against us. Not a foreign invasion but our own government. You better believe police are going to be more aggressive on stops now because you never know if somebody will shoot them in protest of Baton Rouge incident and Minnesota and Ferguson.

2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) Ok yes, if you clearly stated only that, I doubt many if any would have a problem with your post. It got hairy when you started talking about Hilary picking a woman because she's scared of a gruff man? I mean where the actual f*** do you get s*** like this? She clearly wants a woman on her ticket. You act like the battle of the sexes isn't a part of this race? How many women have spoken out saying the only reason they want Hillary is she is female? Tons want the first female president saying, "It's time." I've heard that a lot on TV already. Of course it's a major reason she will win (the female vote) and you better believe she wants a female running mate to cap this thing off. It's just it might not be wise to pick a female. I'm sure her staff is deciding that now for her, if it's worth the risk since right now she has the election wrapped up. Some of you are ignoring the battle of the sexes in this race??

7/16/16 Sox @ Angels Shields vs Shoemaker
I would like to tip my cap to Shields. He's bounced back very very nicely since his horrific first couple starts with Chicago. Give credit where credit is due. You know, I am the worst critic of our team not being good enough to contend. And I stand by that with catcher, DH, right field glaring weaknesses. We have 3-4 slots out of 9 pretty overmatched at this level. And I feel like no team with a catching combo like the Sox deserves to talk postseason. But ... the other part of me, the one that thought we would play the Cubs in the WS when we were 23-10 (great pitching and defense at that point!), says the Sox are grossly underachieving considering they have a big three of Sale, Quintana and Shields (Rodon wasn't too bad either; not great but not too bad) and a great closer in Robertson. You'd think maybe they'd eke out a wild card with guys like that as well as "name" everyday players Frazier, Cabrera, Eaton, Lawrie, Abreu and now Anderson). So I'm torn. If you held a gun to my head I'd stand by us just not being good enough, but I'd at least listen to those who think Robin and Coop are underachieving because of reasons just stated.
