  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 03:11 AM) I know it's easy to say from a couch with a glass of red wine but that at bat by Melky was painful. I've never had 102 mph thrown at me but why was he swinging at such garbage the whole time. None of those pitches were close. Saladino's last at bat, thought was great.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 04:01 AM) Listen it ain't over till it's over. We go 2-2 with the NLs best team and that's not bad There are a zillion teams ahead of us; our team is the definition of "mediocre-at-best." This team is stuck in quicksand, Elrockin. Just a matter of time before it sinks into oblivion. But I do admire your positivity. Best fan in history; I stand by it.
  3. No bats in Wrigley on hot summer nights. Why even show up? Two runs in two games? Yuck.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:09 PM) Yeah, they are as well. Well, I have to believe you. You guys are thriving. Kansans/Missourians are not. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) Greg come on nobody is banning you for that post don't try and hide behind that martyrdom. You are basically trying to shield yourself from contrary opinions with that. I was pretty negative. You never know if it's deemed a personal attack. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) Are you seriously blaming the President of the United States for how companies treat workers? I think that's been happening for quite a long time. And honestly, it really picked up after the Enron fiasco. More than ever, employees are replaceable commodities. This is why I went freelance. I was sick of it. But I certainly didn't blame the President when I was let fired in '96, or laid off in '02 or '09 or '12. It wasn't Clintons or Bush's or Obama's fault. Businesses look at bottom line, not value of work, well, some do, but overall, they don't. The ultimate destruction of the middle class as you call it started with "trickle down economics" which doesn't work. The reason people get rich is by NOT spending. And when they have it, they want more. I don't want you banned, I want you informed. Well I blame him for the stale economy. I think it all adds up. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 01:08 AM) Kareem with the line of the convention. "Hello....I'm Michael Jordan......I'm sorry, I meant Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, I said that because I knew Donald Trump couldn't tell the difference." That's a wild line. I think you are right. That is the line of the convention.
  5. Too bad Abreu couldn't find a hole. He actually hit it.
  6. Well, what do ya think? Two strikeouts in the ninth or three? First two guys whiff then Shuck maybe grounds out?
  7. Pathetic offense in Wrigley: two runs in two games? Pretty embarrassing during the heat of the summer in a small ballpark. Our sluggers should be ashamed.
  8. What do ya know? 2-2 vs the Cubs likely after that bobble by Anderson. .500 is the Sox blessing or curse. I consider it kind of a curse.
  9. There's no way in hell Abreu can hit a guy who throws 105. How could the Yankees trade a guy who throws that hard? I haven't followed him closely enough. Does anybody ever get a fricking hit off Chapman?? That's serious heat.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) Infinitely better than 10 years ago. What about 50 of your closest relatives and friends? IMO many middle class people are walking on eggshells trying to stay afloat.
  11. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 07:33 PM) Oh look, it's Mr. Positive giving us his positive thoughts of the day. These are new thoughts, mind you, not like yesterdays, or the day before that...or the day before that...or the day before that. These are completely new. We can't bury our heads in the sand. People of the world are at war with each other. You could be shot, stabbed at a movie theatre, anywhere. I don't want to be negative on a Thursday but it's a scary world we live in. Be vigilant. Be safe. Be good.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) Honestly, how far back do you have to go to get a President better than Obama? He beats out Clinton, both Bushes, Reagan, Carter, Ford and Nixon handidly. LBJ has the Civil Rights movement, but he has Vietnam. Dwight would be a good argument. Truman as well. Obviously FDR is often regarded as a Top 3 president, so it couldn't get past him. Arguing politics is fruitless, but do you guys know what you are saying? Not to be a party pooper but Obama's tenure has seen the ultimate destruction of the middle class (the era of the layoff, furlough, salary cut, total change in businesses' relationship with workers; who the hell is hiring???) as well as close to a new social revolution in terms of shootings, disturbances in cities, race relation problems escalating. Inability to get any government consensus. He's one helluva likeable guy and a great speaker but I think he's been a disaster in terms of President. As a person? Great person, great speaker, appears to be nicest guy ever and that's very important in life, but you guys IMO are drinking the Democratic koolaid so to speak. Economically? Are you and your friends better off now than you were 10 years ago? I think the Average Joe is living paycheck to paycheck and one bad business decision from being homeless. Why the Obama love? disclaimer: I have the right to my opinion on politics as much as any of you Obama supporters who probably want me banned over this post.
  13. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 11:38 PM) The White Sox playoffs odds are less then 5%. The playoff drought will continue. We're not very good that is for sure. But I think we've waited too long and I'd prefer the trades this winter now.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) Truly can't believe criminal negligence or manslaughter could again not be proven. Justice is never done. But hey, baltimore, you get to pay millions instead! Punish the citizenry, protect the perpetrators. How is Baltimore reacting?
  15. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 05:08 AM) This country took Obama for granted. It's sad. Can't wait until it realizes that. I think he had a chance to be a great leader. For some reason he held back a bit. He certainly did nothing to embarrass the USA. I think the next president will likely embarrass America more than a few times. Unfortunately Trump would be the opposite of Barack Obama. He'll be in the faces of Americans and foreign leaders and it will be ugly. His ego is too huge for him to be an effective leader. In fact he has no chance to lead. Hillary? I dunno. She could prove me wrong and take charge and be a true leader since Bill is in her inner circle and she by now should know what makes a respected president. On the other hand, Hillary could absolutely get blocked at every turn and be a disaster. She has to do a lot to correct the perception she is a liar and elitist. I think Bernie coulda figured a way to be liked by all (or many). I think the socialist thing was blown outta proportion. In conclusion: Barack deserves a B- for his 8 years. Trump has a 1 out of 10 chance of being any good. Hillary has a 5 out of 10 chance of being any good. Bernie had a 7 out of 10 chance of being any good IMO. That's my take and I stand by it.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 05:52 AM) You're actually making an argument against Ms. Clinton here, whether you realize it or not. How could a 70+ year old socialist/marxist/communist from a state almost nobody has ever been to make it such a horserace....dwarf her fundraising in number of total donations...with almost zero name recognition coming into 2015, and do so much damage when the race should have been over after the first 4-5 primaries and caucuses? The problem for her is that to this day, despite 24 years in the spotlight, many Americans are still unsure of exactly what she has accomplished (that she can legitimately take a large amount of credit for)...for example, if you were to poll the first ten random people on the el tmrw morning and ask them what are Hillary's three main accomplishments, how would they answer? And you act like it's Sanders' fault that he ran such a surprisingly effective campaign and got five out of every six young people...male and female....on his side. This from a balding old guy who slogs through speeches with a strong accent and could easily be a cast member of Seinfeld...we're not talking Mario Cuomo/Jesse Jacksonesque oratory with JFK Jr. looks here. Caulfield hits a home run with this post. He's not always on top of his game, but this one is an A-plus post. Thank u. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 05:55 AM) Barrack Obama is a motherf***ing superstar. I've always said I like his style and his speeches. I like Michelle. But IMO Mr. Obama was another rotten president in a long line of them. Can't we get a great one? For once?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 04:49 AM) Chapman declined interview with Cubs reporters after the game cause he's mad how they treated him yesterday. Be careful, he owns a gun Wow, that's huge. Fathom what did the Cubs reporters do yesterday? Blast the acquisition cause of his domestic issue? Was it pretty nasty in the press in Chicago?
  18. That game turned to s*** quickly. Oh well, we won the first two and you can't really expect more from a team mired in mediocrity. As a boring person once said, "We are what we are." 2-1 lead on the Cubs. Not bad. p.s. How come people were saying we won the Crosstown Cup after Game Two? Certainly they knew there were two games left? I didn't get that.
  19. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) You're not following the news. Trump already conceded and Hillary promised him the next Secretary of the Treasury position. If he made up those figures that's not very nice and people should see I'm not the only one to write questionable things at times on this message board.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 11:46 PM) There is no waving of the wand for any candidate, there's a lot of hard work which is what makes her attractive. Though I know you probably read that last bit "makes her attractive" and were like "WHAT! But she's ugly and old! Chelsea looks presidential with her looks! I don't get it!" I was trying to compliment her sitting there looking presidential (which to me means intellectual) and the other mod got mad. I don't think Hillary is ugly or anything I just don't like her. People blast Bernie with no facts, just opinions, on here but get mad at me on here when I go after the Clintons.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 11:37 PM) It's also kinda true. But aren't my charges of Hillary being a horrificly weak candidate also true? I still can't fathom why people had it out for Bernie except the simple reason the Clinton machine must roll on. Chelsea looked Presidential in her seat last night as I watched Bill speak like Bill speaks (very very charming; I told u I loved Bill). I have no idea though why the country wants 16 more years of Clinton. It's not like they wave the wand and America is great again.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) From nowhere to President. How is that a good thing? The dude sat on the sidelines, did dick all for years, and then popped up with a bunch of propaganda and empty promises. Hillary has an incredible history of involvement and accomplishment. Bernie had nothing. What a story! Empty promises? Had nothing? How do you know that? A lot of people still want him leading Sarah Silverman to scold those people. Hillary supporters IMO are cheering on a very weak candidate herself. She has some smoking gun incidents (some of us would say crimes) and in my opinion Bernie brings a lot more to the table. What the hell has she done that's so great? To say Bernie has done nothing is pretty harsh.
  23. I want to remind everybody the final count was 2800 delagates Clinton to 1800 Bernie. In the face of unmistakeable odds, Bernie Sanders did not get blown out. Had he been given a fair shake by the press and by the DNC, you think it wasn't gonna be a draw?? This baby was up for grabs. Bernie Sanders could have been an amazing story. From NOWHERE to president of the United States. 2800 to 1800 ... what do the Hillary apologists say about Bernie's effort? Again, you can't deny the DNC was scheming and everybody in power had to have Hillary as the candidate and STILL Bernie was right there.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 05:08 AM) 76% and 5,678 electoral votes, which is enough to allow her to replace every SC justice if she wants, and she also gets to pass 1 major piece of legislation without Congressional approval. It's in Article 12. OMG she is beating Trump with 76 percent of the vote? He can't overcome that. Game over. Blowout.
