Now I see Ben Carson saying Hillary is a gawd awful candidate. I think a lot of people agree with me that she is very very very bad.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 03:55 AM) Nice to see Abreu finaly get a dinger and Avi gets his third of series. Get this team solidified for next year What do you mean? Like getting Abreu and Avi red hot to carry into next season? Avi has a long way to go to not just be traded for scraps. I guess they both could conceivably get hot.

How much hope should we have for Anderson?
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 04:11 AM) Sox fans are impatient the kids from the farm. They figure the team is so bad they gotta be better than the current roster. We waited forever for Viciedo to learn to draw a walk. Sometimes it doesn't happen.

Trade Deadline: Sox Make No Moves
That article said: "The White Sox shouldn’t need to rebuild right now, instead they need to actually attempt to put good players around their already excellent core." This line said it all. Many of us have alluded to the fact we have elite players in Sale, Q, Robertson, Abreu, Frazier (30 HRs is pretty good), Anderson and Eaton. We just have too many stiffs surrounding them. And no DH is a problem.

2016 AL Central catch-all thread
Boy the Royals inexplicably suck on the road this year. Makes even more impossible the fact they are 4-2 in the Cell. Good to see the Royals have a horrific reliever this year in Soria. If they keep him next year, they are going nowhere again. Twins, however, look like they are on the rise. They probably can't catch the Sox. I'd suspect we finish above the Twins by a couple games. Next year, however, we have to start out favorites for the cellar unless we rebuild/retool. No bats for KC and Chicago both.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
Even those hoping for losses at this point have to be happy whenever Q wins a start. To get six runs to work with is pretty nice for a chance. Quintana is a helluva pitcher. I did see we got six runs in the first two innings, then no more the rest of the way.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 08:32 PM) Because the facts don't support the argument... They do on Hannity's TV show. I have tuned in to watch a little bit this past week and they are very anti Hillary with their comments/stats, etc. Like I said some people think Hillary is pretty close to "evil" if not "evil" itself. Just because I don't vote for Trump doesn't mean I'll ever say a nice word about Hillary. I have praised Bill, however, in the past.

2016 Republican Thread
We should do a poll. I'm thinking 90 to 95 percent of this board would cite itself as a Democrat. Surprises me. I did not know a majority of Sox fans were Democrats. I thought some ingrained South Siders were Republican.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) watching someone still trying to pull the "both sides!" gambit at this point is just sad Why? Some of us think Hillary is a pathological liar who should be in jail. No way in hell I'd vote for her. No way I'd vote for Trump. So why is that sad? Hillary to some of us Americans is a gosh awful candidate, one of the worst in history as a matter of fact. Why is that so "sad?" QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) This is not the first poll to show Trump with 0-1% of the African-American vote. Why African Americans think Hillary Clinton is going to help them is beyond me. There's nothing so suggest she is a champion of African Americans. I can't believe some independent candidate isn't doing better.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 08:02 PM) Royals fighting to box us out of a Top Ten pick without Davis at the back end... Dont know if we can get there or not. That would give Hahn a ton of protection again for not pursuing any top tier free agents...preserving draft picks. Cmon. We play them nine more times; that will take care of that. KC will win 7 or 8 of 'em

How much hope should we have for Anderson?
QUOTE (Insp @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 06:46 PM) The guy has hardly been around, yet you people want to crucify him. Players do grow over the years, you know. Even if he does not, he can still be a decent hitter even if the sabermetrics crowd never approves of him. Should the Sox ever move out of Chicago, it will because of so-called fans like you guys who just want to trash your players no matter how good they are. Nobody's crucifying him. He's had 200 at bats and it's fair to comment on those. My guess is since he won't take a walk, he'll be an OK ballplayer, nothing special, never an all-star or anything. Just another guy at about .245 ceiling, 65 ribbies, maybe more if he gets his home run total past 15 a year. I'd say he'll normally hit .245 tops; .220 bottom, 15 HRS, 65 RBI type player.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 06:42 AM) We should have spent $1.1 trillion on invading instead. When are we going to hold our government officials accountable? They all are out of control. And our candidates? One is a pathological liar and the other is certifiably mad. And both are over 70. Where's the young blood, the new ideas? I want Jesse Ventura as a write in. I'll probably actually write him in.

What is Obama doing giving 400 million bucks to Iran? WTF? Yet no scandal? Impeachment hearings over this one? http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/03/politics/us-...0-million-cash/ Also ... I see on TV 63 percent of Americans think Hillary is dishonest. And yet she's a runaway winner. What a country. What great candidates. s***, maybe the election is rigged. I see Trump had 5,000 supporters turned away by fire marshals at a rally. What is going on? He's trailing by 10 points in the polls and yet everywhere he goes he sells out huge arenas? Our country is in trouble, folks. There could be riots if Hillary wins. These Trump supporters are pretty vocal and they might freak if there is any sign of this being rigged.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 03:18 AM) Team Clinton just pulls most of their stunts behind closed doors and then denies them all. It makes it easy for the surrogates to defend, and do the dirty work. Excellent post/take. You are correct, sir.

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 05:02 AM) If that happens I'm done with this team until they get new ownership. I might be done with them too. If Robin is back, it's inexcusable. Are we really winless against Central teams Det, KC and Cleveland on the road this year? My gawd.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 07:45 PM) This is definitely one of those "horror face" moments: Voices From Donald Trump’s Rallies, Uncensored Garbage Candidate for Garbage People is too kind, really. How can you call millions of Americans "garbage?" I don't get it. If we Americans think millions of us are "garbage," well God help us all. This world is OVA.

Hawk & Stoney talk it out, agree to interact more
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 12:40 AM) Amazing how foghorn sprung back to life after they found someone to replace him. Great post. You nailed it. Of course he's jealous and feeling the heat. They got a guy who Stoney likes in Jason and you said it, Hawk perks up and says he's REJUVENATED and ready for another season.

August 3rd Game Thread: ChiSox at Detroit
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 01:21 AM) What makes this even worse is Anderson is fading hard and with Tilson out, there's not much to care about Has there ever been a player at his age actually learn how to change his approach? If he doesn't draw bases on balls, no way in hell with 500 at bats he can hit better than .225 or so. He just won't be valuable at all without bases on balls being part of his game. More captain obvious stuff the Sox refuse to deal with QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 01:46 AM) Tigers are on fire. Oh well. Every Central Division team is on fire when we play them except maybe Minnie. They OWN us yet Hahn and Robin keep their jobs. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 02:10 AM) Thanks. You gave me a much needed laugh. Another typical dysfunctional Sox loss. Player comes off the DL, crowd goes crazy, boom, game winning home run, crowd goes more crazy for JD. What I want to know is how in the hell did Hahn think this team might contend the second half. Everybody with a brain knew we'd suck mightily after the all star break ... again.

Sale is becoming Q. Never any run support. Our team blows. (Nice hit by Justin, though).

Boy our bats are anemic. Frazier has 30 home runs for gosh sakes and we still can't score runs. Bizarre team in need of new manager badly.

Hawk & Stoney talk it out, agree to interact more
Very interesting they made this public. I think personally it all was Hawk's fault. He brings his moods and poor Stoney doesn't dare say a word. Like just now, Hawk said that pop up to Abreu was a tough error call. It was an obvious error, but how can Stoney argue that? Hawk would bite his head off. Maybe the clearing of the air helps but the fact Stoney didn't disagree there I think means he's still scared of Hawk moods. Cmon Hawk, obvious error on Abreu.

Tilson Recovering Well From Surgery
I feel sorry for Tilson. Sounds like a horrible injury. Don't care about Duke either way. Sayonara to him.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 01:19 AM) Abreu is turning into one of the worst defensive players the Sox have had in a long time He's terrible. He may be a change of scenery is needed guy. May be too lax and comfortable in a White Sox uniform. He wasn't bad last year.

Sox @ Tigers GAMETHREAD
QUOTE (ronkark @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 06:40 AM) Wow just wow. Real hard to find something about this team to get excited about th enext two months. Fulmer not ready for bigs and should be in minors. New kid is done. Anderson is fun but two walks? Oye. Pen's an even bigger mess without Duke. And what rookies are coming up in September to cheer for? Uh... Coats again? Kevan Smith? Ranaudo? I don't see it. They did themselves such a disservice with fan base by not making any moves. How can Steverson not take Anderson under his wing? There's no way a paid hitting coach can condone this style of hitting. There has to be a way to get Anderson to be more selective. A walk truly is as good as a hit and he simply does not have the ability or maturity to draw a walk.

It's that time of year again...2016 edition
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 05:20 AM) With tonight's loss, we now have the 11th pick, winning the tie-breaker with KC. 3 GB of the Brewers for the 10th pick. 14 GB of the Braves for the 1st pick. With all the games we have left vs. the Central I'd think we'll get the fifth or sixth pick. If the team totally sucks in September and goes something like 7-24 we might do even better than that. I'd still rather win, though. I don't care about the damn draft. We'll get somebody and nobody knows if that player will ever do squat in the big leagues.
