  1. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 05:15 AM) The baseball gods look down on the White Sox and laugh. Or as John Lennon once sang, "Instant Karma's gonna get you...gonna knock you right in the head..." The season can't end soon enough. Mark I still can't believe we were 23-10. Solid fundamental baseball. Winning close games. It looked like the back end of the bullpen was gonna be solid with several guys having roles. Then predictably one meltdown game and the whole season was over. Team couldn't overcome that choke and that was that. You are right, the baseball gods are laughing at this sorry team. I thought 23-10 was a large enough sample size. Man was I wrong. Our team went from crisp, exciting, great at winning close games to total horses***.
  2. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 03:59 AM) Trump is now against wind energy because it kills birds. He's not going to make it until November. Truthfully he probably doesn't care if he wins. If he loses, he can shrug it off and just say it was rigged. If he wins, quite frankly the job has got to be a major hassle. It doesn't even pay that well, compared to what he's used to. His ego is safe either way cause again, he can just say our system is rigged and it was fixed for Hillary and he goes on more famous than ever. He has the perfect out: the system is rigged.
  3. Watching O'Reilly factor criticize Black Lives Matter for its new demands which are ridiculous. The group is demanding money to make up for slavery. Money should be sent to all African Americans to make up for slavery, the group is stating. Charles Krauthammer BTW looks like Marley's ghost in A Christmas Carol. Look at him closely and tell me I'm wrong. I like him, just saying what he looks like.
  4. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 03:30 AM) lol...geezus cripes...seriously?!?!?!? I didn't watch the game...but the dude is hurt the very first game?!? Good god....I'm honestly getting the feeling that Kenny or something made a deal with the Devil back in 05. You can't make this s*** up anymore..... Just like Davidson, hurt the first game. That's bad luck right there.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 02:25 AM) For the most part this is an embarrassment if a game thread Rockin, it's just tough to be a fan of this team. Losing to Central Division teams (usually via blowouts or weird in-game meltdowns) has grown old the past few seasons. The Sox haven't even tried to see what would happen with a different manager. Somehow you can shrug off losses without getting frustrated. A lot of us feel beaten down because of dysfunctional baseball and a manager who needs to try it with another team. It's not working in Chicago.
  6. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 02:19 AM) tim Andersons obp is under .280 Send him down and have somebody with a clue work with him on accepting a base on balls. He's the anti Frank Thomas.
  7. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 04:44 PM) many have taken a financial stance against the White Sox. I'll tune into games, but I'm not spending my money on tickets, parking, food, and adult beverages to watch this nonsense in person." You'd have to really be a baseball fan, or have money to burn, to buy season tickets to the White Sox the past few seasons. This team is just plain unwatchable again. Even our best prospect, Anderson, is now down to .270 cause he is incapable of drawing a base on balls. I don't think the Sox will move, but at the same time, this team is currently unwatchable. I was thinking the other day, we need a player (everyday player) who is a star to get us back on track. I thought it'd be Abreu, but he appears to be nothing special. We need a player in the realm of Paulie, Baines, Thomas, Ventura. We need a consistent star to pave the way on a daily basis. We do have a franchise in Sale, but I mean an everyday player. Right now Sox are the embarrassment of baseball with them being the patsies of the Central Division yet another season.
  8. Wow. Tilson already got hurt? Geez. I feel for him but am reading this thread about how he looked awful in cf before the injury. Boy our team stinks. We are the patsies of the Central that is for sure. Except for Minnie, teams "appear" to beat us just by taking the field. We can't compete with Cleve, KC and Detroit. After we won it in 05 I was so hopeful we'd dominate the division for years to come. Too bad for KC they had to go as long as they have without playing the Sox. We usually get KC back on track. Did Shields reek tonight or just have a bad inning or two? I have to get my new puter to watch mlb again.
  9. I don't know why u guys root for losses. The draft remains a crapshoot. Rodon not looking so special of late.
  10. Shuck was sent down? Can't they trade him to some big league team for scraps? There's no reason that guy should be taking minor league at bats from any White Sox young un.
  11. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 06:33 AM) No, but optimism will be sky high in April. Of that I'm certain. I hope the Sox have the same April record next year as this year. It won't mean anything necessarily but that type of start really is helpful. Remember all those posts saying the Sox pretty much had a playoff berth wrapped up in April? Posts like, "We are 23-10 ... if we just go x-x the rest of the season that's 86 wins which should be enough, etc, blah blah." Means nothing. It's a marathon.
  12. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 03:20 AM) I will be watching. Call me a glutton, but I love baseball too much. No matter how they do, I can't stop. Sure you got to love baseball. The alternative? You like the Chicago winters? The KC winters? The wind and the freezing cold? The ice storms? This is way better than fricking winter. (I do realize last winter was mild but still ...).
  13. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 06:55 AM) The trading deadline is a deadline designed for play-off bound teams, it is not meant for .500-ish teams to quickly rebuild for the stretch run or to reload for next season. I didn't see any other team's ace pitcher garner the attention that Sale did. Why, because of a silly tantrum? No reason whatsoever for the Sox to jump at trade offers unless those offers were compelling. Anyway, some of our players will go on waiver wire deals this year and hopefully that will satisfy those in the rebuild it camp, at least until we reach Hot Stove time when a few more trades will be made. Like the one poster said we DEFINITELY were late to the party. Trades could and should have been made a long time ago. Anybody with a baseball brain knew we were toast at least after blowing 3 straight games in KC to an average to lousy Royals team. Sox have nobody who can figure out if a team is a contender or not. Geez, I wish we had somebody like Bill James to tell the front office we didn't have a contender. Coulda traded Robertson to start the ball rolling a month or more ago.
  14. Say what you want about Trump ... I just watched him on Hannity and if you listen to the man in a non GOTCHA environment, the man says a lot of interesting things. I loved the last question of a long interview. Hannity asked Trump if he was worried about the election being "rigged." He said of course he was worried about that. He said it was rigged against Bernie as proven by the DNC emails. He said many precincts were rigged against Romney. He said he's very worried that our country is fixing the vote for Hillary. Folks, say what you want. The possibility of rigged elections in the USA is SCARY. I can't believe there's not more outrage over the DNC rigging it for Hillary. Folks, I have no interest in this either way (I won't vote for Trump or Hillary) but I think it's very scary that amid allegations of things being "rigged," we don't seem to care. We should have all necessary precautions taken to avoid this election being rigged. Cmon ... if Trump is able to win, he should be allowed to win. If Bernie had enough support to garner the nomination he shoulda garnerned the nomination. I WANT A FAIR ELECTION. check out the hannity interview if it's on youtube or fox news channel. Trump does not sound like a madman or a dangerous man. He sounds electable, folks.
  15. This is ridiculous. The Dodgers are sending Puig down to the minors. But they didn't trade him at the deadline? Geez, they must have tried to rob the White Sox. When you HATE a player, just trade him, Dodgers. He may suck this season but he shouldn't be in the minors. He's a big league player.
  16. Anybody worried about Zika virus? Problems in Florida but virus has been discovered in almost every state in the USA. Is this the big one? Or not. Worried? Or not. http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/01/health/cdc-m...ning/index.html
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 03:49 AM) I can add more. See how long Shields and Gonzales maintain there string of good starts. Might be a pretty good rotation next year if they can pitch better than typical 4 and 5's. See how the September call ups do. Q's starts. See if Abreu ever pulls a fastball right down the middle for a HR. See if Frazier can get his doubles and batting average higher than they are now. See how bad the current bullpen implodes. It is seriously bad now. Watch if Fulmer can throw strikes. I disagree on 'Q's starts.' It's painful to watch him pitch and get no support. It's so sad.
  18. If Tilson actually is going to start and play a lot, he's a reason to watch. Also Anderson. I disagree about Rodon. He's stunk to high heaven this year and I doubt will salvage the season. The Sox would be more likeable if they didn't lose games in the worst ways. Walking in winning run; blowing seven run leads, hardly ever scoring for Q, hardly ever scoring period. No chance in hell this team finishes over .500. No chance Robin keeps his job. I beg them to hire a good manager.
  19. Puig's stats are not very impressive. Bad power numbers and not a ton of RBIs. I'd classify him as yet another bust in the non steroid era.
  20. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:21 PM) They are most definitly going for it again next year. The lack of activity today proves that. Sale and Q aren't going anywhere during the offseason. The question is whether or not Jerry will open up the pocketbooks to bring in a couple of impact bats. "Going for it" is a weird saying regarding the Sox. We've had one good month the last few seasons. This past April.
  21. Some of you read my posts and remember them. My stance was a month ago we needed to beat everybody to the punch, give up and trade a ton of players not named Sale, Q, Abreu, Anderson. After blowing that, I don't want us to trade today. We'd get fleeced. Make the trades this winter. This season is over. Just play out the string then trade, trade, trade this winter.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:18 PM) I'm sure most of the people complaining right now wanted Duke DFA'd a few months ago. This is a fine return for a lefty specialist. I'm OK with the trade. Here's hoping Tilton is the next Lou Brock. Could be a steal. Could be a bust. I'm OK with finding out. Not a bad trade as I disliked Duke. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:12 AM) Uh... The kid just turned 23 and is done pretty damn good at his first AAA stint. He hasn't even debuted in the bigs from what I read - you're making pretty emotionally driven speculative statements here dude. I'm OK with him. I just feel St. Louis wouldn't trade him for Duke if they hadn't decided he was nothing special. A second round pick? It's obvious they've soured on him. Again, they'd want a lot more than Duke if they felt he could play.
  23. Even this lousy Tigers team is in the hunt for the playoffs yet the Sox miss them year after year. Our organization truly is one of the worst in the AL.
  24. QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:59 PM) So the idiot Hahn traded away one of the best relief pitchers in baseball for someone who cannot be any better than a 5th outfielder scrub. Further proof that anyone who advocates wholesale trading of Sox players with Hahn in charge is simply delusional at best and hopelessly insane at worst. Duke is just another body. He's nothing special. The outfielder we got obviously is a bust to this date or St. Louis wouldn't have traded him. This will probably be his final chance to be a starter in the bigs.
  25. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) How about hitting seven home runs in a game and losing...just sayin' Only two more months of this s*** left to go! Out of all the disappointments this year (and there have been a lot) Rodon has been one of the biggest. This guy now looks like he has no idea what he wants to do out there. Mark I was going to say, is Rodon any good at all? He's 2-8. I know records don't matter. I just look at our starting rotation and figure when that turns to s*** our team is going to be one of the worst in baseball history. The rotation has been about the only positive the last few seasons.
