  1. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 06:04 AM) Soria pitched a 1-2-3 inning tonight. Oh, who did Frazier homer off of? That guy was meat. I thought it was Soria.
  2. Trump wasn't calling for Hillary's assassination. Please get with it, people.
  3. Robertson is OK. He's not a lockdown closer but he saves a lot more games than he blows.
  4. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 03:36 AM) Once again Sale pitches well only to get nothing because of a s***ty bullpen. he has got to be totally frustrated. Mark At least he pitched the first game of a Royals series finally. Nice win. Frazier is a lot better than Adam Dunn ever was. Finally beat KC in KC. It almost was a fourth straight blown lead in Kauffman, however. KC had a chance to win it but that guy hit a line out in the 9th instead of finding a hole to win it. Soria is so bad it's laughable. He's the one guy so bad even the Sox hitters hit him. Anytime we beat KC it's big, though both teams blow this season and are going nowhere. Still it's good to beat them.
  5. This is about right. The Royals have won two in a row; when they sweep us it'll be five in a row and for the third time this season the Sox will have given those bums false hope AGAIN.
  6. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 04:20 AM) Hillary is no better or worse than 99% of politicians when it comes to misdeeds. They're all guilty of bending the rules - Republicans and Democrats alike, including, I'm sure, Donald Trump. Greg sounds like a Notre Dame fan who accuses other schools of cheating and being incredulous to the idea that his team could possibly be doing the same. My dad is like that. I always point out that Notre Dame cheats, and then he says, "Well, I don't know..." before trailing off. PS - I'm a Notre Dame fan, too. But, I can recognize that it would be a little odd to think that a guy like Lou Holtz was busted for cheating at every school he coached but Notre Dame. The sainted Lou Holtz is a Trump supporter, incidentally. So, Greg, in this election, there are two viable candidates, and the question is if Trump is really a person you want to be President based on his qualifications. Yet, you seem to be more interested in trashing the other candidate personally rather than making a fact based argument that points out her deficiencies politically. You even say that Hillary is a horrible choice, "albeit a better choice than Trump." Then, what are you arguing about? Just vote for Trump - the worse choice in your estimation, or go with the candidate that you feel is more qualified but don't like. It's funny that, among other things, you talk about all the free publicity Hillary has received. Nobody, probably ever, has received as much free publicity as Trump did during the Republican election campaign. It was borderline illegal for him to be calling into radio and tv shows daily because candidates are supposed to be afforded equal time. Not sure how he got away with that. Not a bad post. I can accept all your points. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) I think staying home is the dumbest thing an American can do, but to each his or her own, I guess. But what about somebody like me? I despise both Hillary and Trump, so if I vote it has to be a write in. Is it worth me going to the polls just to vote for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar or Jesse Ventura? QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 06:21 PM) Greg - Why not ask the question the other way. Do these hillary fans really think she has the makeup to be the president (not compared to trump, just in general). I'm willing to admit Trump doesn't, but I also think it is sickening that Hillary is the best that the dems could put out (as she has real issues which, while we could debate whether they are criminal or not, they are certainly indicative of extremely extremely poor judgement). That said, while Bernie was a likeable character, I don't know that he was the better candidate. Was this more of the DNC / party as a whole just viewed it as her time or were their not other candidates who should have came out to compete against her? Excellent post. I can buy everything you are stating here. Thing is I do think the Hillary fans on this board think she truly is great. I believe in their minds she is a helluva candidate for President. But I would love for some Hillary-ites to admit there were better Democratic candidates out there.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) Greg, your hate-boner has been tabled for a brief moment to discussion Obama's qualifications in 2008. He was qualified. But it doesn't mean he was a good president. He was OK but definitely nothing special and I think we are worse off today than 8 years ago for sure.
  8. I just wish the Hillary fans and this board is full of them would admit Hillary has been given this election thanks to the FBI director and media. That's all I wish. It also would help if you admitted she is a horrible choice for President, albeit a better choice than Trump.
  9. Ever since the FBI came through it's been all smooth sailing for Hillary. Do u not agree with that?
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) Polls Plus looking GOOD this morning. Ah, this is all according to form. Hillary gets the preferential treatment from the FBI and it's been all downhill since. With the media's help, the runaway train scenario is now being played out. Hillary (who gave a horrible, say nothing screamathon speech at the convention and was jeered during the speech; a speech that nonetheless got rave reviews) now is granted the "runaway winner" scenario over the rude kook Donald Trump. Trump is getting the media tag of being a rude wacko who will bring us to war right away and is getting no air time except for the "wackjob Trump" stories. Hillary meanwhile is staying fairly quiet as the media does the coronating for her. Very sad and pathetic we can't have a fair election. Hillary shouldn't spend a dime on her campaign. She's getting all the free publicity she needs. The "landslide" scenario has been painted. Stately (lol) former First Lady, the stately, accomplished Secretary of State (lol) runs away with election over the Republican nutjob/racist/warmonger. Trump should drop out. He has nothing to gain by staying in and letting this scenario continue. Nothing but positive stuff in the Hillary soundbites; nothing but horror expressed during the Trump soundbites.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 04:49 AM) I've always been a Republican but those assholes laid their own bed. They still stand so strong on gay marriage and abortion, when most people are way past that. Their top candidates still stand for that platform which eliminates the high majority of voters. How come there's been no serious talk of making sure the election is not "rigged?" The DNC cannot be trusted. They wanted Bernie out. They'll do anything including rigging elections. How come Obama isn't talking about making sure the election is fair??? Isn't that his responsibility when there's so much talk of rigged elections?
  12. I don't hate him, but he is one, over the hill pitcher it seems. Baseball is committed to paying guys like Shields big bucks for some reason. Anybody could have had his line today. Any minor leaguer could have done just as badly. But after his Royals days were over, SD had to pay him a massive salary. Baseball is just throwing away money. Whatever. Very sad he wasn't traded before the trade deadline. He'd had a couple decent outings. maybe somebody would have taken him for a couple low level non prospects.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 02:27 AM) Good for you. I know what you think too. I disagree. I'll take the World Series win over the years of good but never winning the world series teams. I know most people on this board despise Ozzie, but I thank the heavens every day that once we got in the WS, Ozzie made sure we won the damn thing. There are no guarantees you ever get back. The city of Chicago would still have been happy just making the WS. I thank Ozzie for instilling the right atmosphere for that team to CRUISE through the entire postseason. Now I am not dumb enough to think Ozzie played in the games, but I've seen enough teams reach the Finals or the WS and not win the crown. They blame inexperience and all that. The White Sox not only reached the WS but won it. No matter how bad our current team is, and it has been among the worst organizations in all of baseball since '05, I am thankful to Oz and everybody for getting it done in 05. If they hadn't smoked Houston who knows when we'd ever win a WS. It might be 40-50 years before Sox win another one.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) Sox play like s*** on weekend home games for the last 5 years especially when crowd is bigger, a lot of those fans are not coming back and I do not blame them. At least we have a ballpark ranked 29th out of 30 in this week's Yahoo story. (I do realize most people on Soxtalk and Sox fans overall do like the Cell, just sayin).
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 06:22 PM) Shame on Hahn for not getting out of Shields' contract if there were takers Great post. Shoulda dumped him. I'm sure the scouts told him Coop had fixed him and he was great now. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) The entire scouting department needs to fired. It's painfully obvious that Shields has absolutely nothing left. I'm sure the Padres front office was stunned when the Sox called asking about him explaining why they traded him so early. They would have taken literally anything to get out of any portion of Shield's horrific contract. Just fire everybody actually, anybody who even knew that trade could possibly happen and didn't speak up against it. Amen.
  16. Typical Sox. Last night looked like a real team. Today look like worst team in humanity. Let the buyer beware when you buy tickets to a Sox game.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 06:00 AM) Paging Sean Hannity Maddow despises Trump and despises Republicans so on and on we go.
  18. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Greg, if aren't going to read what others write, then you aren't even attempting to have a discussion. You are basing your info based on a few interviews you have seen. We are providing others facts that you haven't seen, yet refuse to acknowledge them. You don't have to agree with them, but at least expand your knowledge base. I just checked out the three stories Quin referenced. Carson said: "Try to listen to what I'm saying. We as a society have gotten ourselves into this tug-of-war where we get into our separate corners and we try to demonize each other. The way that they come out of that is they come together, they shake hands, they exchange pleasantries and apologies, and say, you know, we have better issues to deal with. They’re both on the same side. They’re fighting radical Islamic terrorists. They lost a son doing that. Donald wants to fight that as well. They need to recognize that this is not something we need to be pitting ourselves against each other, because it only weakens us and it’s only easier for our enemies to conquer us." What's so bad about that statement to Meghan Kelly? Carson seems reasonable there.
  19. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 6, 2016 -> 08:32 PM) GOP is going SO hard with the "Woe is me, everyone is against us, life isn't fair" plan of attack so early, we still have three months left. And Greg, who apparently only gets Fox News in Kansas, is one of many beating that drum. No doubt, Trump is a major chump. But what about Hillary? The media narrative is trying very hard to paint her as a saint and make this election turn into the coronation of one of the greatest Americans of all time. One problem with the narrative. Her lies. Please, media, just change the narrative and go after Hillary as you are Trump. It's time to attack Hillary not start the narrative of her being the first woman president and one of the great women in history. Yes she's going to be president but that doesn't mean she deserves the office any more than Donald "the mouth that roared" Trump. The narrative should be the liar vs. the Insulter, not the Insulter vs. the Greatest Woman of All Time.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 6, 2016 -> 11:19 PM) He is a nutjob and unfit for office. His statements prove that he isn't the best nor the brightest. I just saw him on another show tonight and he was reasonable and came across again as brilliant. I think our system is awful. The media pulls "gotcha" on every candidate they want out. I have no idea why Carson was targeted as the buffoon of this election cycle. Every election cycle has somebody that gets picked on early and often. Remember Howard Dean in 2004? That was it for him when he screamed. Ben Carson is not a nut; he's an incredible surgeon and American. I challenge you to listen to his recent interviews when he's not being attacked by media. He's coming across as a bright mind.
  21. Rodon was excellent. Shoulda got a win. Robin handled the bullpen well. Those are the only relievers, actually, that stand a chance. Anderson got a walk! And should have had two! Another one of those great victories. The team on occasion plays well like this. Tomorrow they'll probably suck. Such are the White Sox. Good win tonight though. No question about that.
  22. Eaton, nice job HR. 4-2 Sox and they are looking good tonight.
  23. That's why we stink. Never blow open a game. Our victories are all nail biters. And I got a feeling we aint winning this game.
  24. Those two strikeouts were very very bad. Put the ball in play.
  25. Two on nobody out. I still wouldn't bunt.
