  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 01:38 AM) He Will work on his defense over the winter and will be much better in 2017 Another installment of "El Rockin ... best fan ever!" Are u serious El Rockin? QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 03:12 AM) another brilliant move by Robin Putting in tuner was conceding the game.... God can't wait for both of them to go the eff away. I'm sick of Robin conceding games. He does it quite often. He deserves credit for never pulling an Ozzie and blaming his horrific players, however. Can u imagine my guy, Ozzeroo, after games in which our players f*** up royally?
  2. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 03:24 AM) Any talk about Jones being a "future closer" needs to end immediately. He's not even a good set up man. Eight blown saves chances this year already and he is personally responsible for five of the Sox 10 losses this year where they took a lead into the 7th inning or later. Yet the brain trust gave him a three year contract. OK then. If the Sox are going to "go for it" yet again next year, they basically have to rebuild this bullpen from scratch...and that's awful hard to do in one off season. Mark It's a shame a guy with Nate's stuff has such a horrible, flawed delivery. Sorry Nate, you ain't gonna make it pitching the way you do. Just.Another.Guy.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 03:50 AM) LOL it was a Heyman article mentioning Robin on the hot seat. Hot scoop. I was just gonna say, another choke job late. Another lost series vs. a Central Division team. This is why Robin won't be back (aven though his players blow).
  4. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 05:36 AM) In case you missed it(and I wouldn't blame you for doing so): Anderson's Moon Shot http://m.mlb.com/cws/video/topic/8878818/v...-pole/?c_id=cws Wow. He had a helluva game with that play up the middle as well. He's a fine prospect it appears.
  5. Has anyone noticed that greg is obsessed with Anderson's walk totals? Or have I slipped it by everybody?
  6. Glad to see Anderson draw another walk. As well as rip a home run. He's drawing walks once in a while now which is nice.
  7. This must be -350 in Vegas tonight. The Sox do not beat teams like Cleveland on the road. This matchup suggests 9-1 Cleveland win.
  8. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 06:08 AM) I guess I'll just copy and paste my reply until you figure it out? You said you owe it to the fans to play your best players. But the fans will benefit the following season. This season means nothing. It's over. Sit Sale the final six weeks and he'll be so ready next spring. Same with Q. Why pitch him? The fans don't want to see him get no run support. It'd be better to just rest him. Meanwhile, other guys get to pitch, and lose, and again, it helps get a better draft pick which the draftniks want even though many of our picks have been busts. Frankly it'd be smart to rest these players for the reason I suggested: Sale, Q, Robertson, Rodon, Shields, Abreu, Eaton. Send Avi to the minors to work on his game and ditto Anderson to learn how to take more pitches. I don't think the fans would care at all. This season is beyond fans caring. Anybody coming out to the Cell will be coming out no matter who is playing for the Sox. Everybody benefits. The draft people will be happy and the ones who think we can contend next year will be happy we are resting Sale and Q.
  9. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 04:02 AM) Dumbest thing ever in professional sport. Call it the Strasburg syndrome. Yes but the draftniks want us to lose every game. So why don't those same draftniks want to rest Sale, Q and Robertson? I don't get it. You want us to lose but this could help the team even more in the future than getting a better draft pick.
  10. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 06:26 AM) Where would that fall in normal distribution? It seems to me we've had a ton of one-run games and low scoring close games the last 2-3 seasons. I'd love to see a study on this. My guess is we win fewer "blowout victories" than almost all teams. I'd say compared to other teams we have very few wins of five runs or more.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 02:28 AM) Duffy and Fulmer might be the two best starters in the AL now. Duffy is quite a success story. Always had good stuff. Made himself a good starter. I despise the Royals but do respect Duffy.
  12. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 04:24 AM) Craig Kenney of the Cubs Board of Directors has already publicly stated the Cubs are starting their own TV Network. Mark Why don't the Sox start THEIR own network. Seriously.
  13. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 04:28 AM) In other words, "we'll be half-assed going for it again in 2017!" Mark That's just absurd stuff from Jerry. The Sox are gonna try AGAIN to add some pieces. The Lawrie's, Fraziers, Melky's, Avilas, Navarros. Hope their new set of ballplayers is better than some of the current stiffs.
  14. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 01:15 AM) Tim just guesses up there He did draw another walk though and is just above .270. I still see him at about .230 when all is said and done.
  15. Boy it sucks being the patsies of the Central Division. Seven in a row vs. Cleveland, lol. This is why Robin and all the scouts MUST be replaced. We can't ever win Central series. Those teams just feast on the Chicago White Sox.
  16. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 03:06 AM) The Sox will switch back to a manager with more fire and personality. Not ozzie's level, but the other direction from Ventura. They need somebody who car carve out some attention in the media world. Robin's approach with media -- and on the field -- deadly dull. Never says anything memorable. Sale dissing him was the final straw. It's usually that way with losing organizations. You have the fiery guy, then get rid of him for low key guy; then back to fiery guy. Just hire the best guy. That man is Jim Leyland or Tony LaRussa. Talk them into it with $$$$$$$. Money talks.
  17. Watched some of the morning shows today. There was a lot of talk about unfair coverage of Trump compared to Hillary. Said the media is heavily Democratic and deems it its duty to keep Trump out.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 06:54 PM) Don't worry, we'll go on a mid-September tear, finish 80-82 (but obviously miss the playoffs) and Robin will be handed a 3-year extension. If the Sox were to win 15 of their last 20 or something he'd probably return. But it would mean nothing. We'd still probably be team dysfunction under his leadership again next year. One crazy loss would probably end our season again.
  19. It's a very sad state of affairs. He has a few stars on the roster but also has an ungodly number of terrible players/pitchers as well. He needs to move on but there's no guarantee it'll be any different with a new manager.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 06:33 PM) Ryan Lochte held up at gunpoint and robbed last night. Rio continues to set the standard in Olympic awesomeness Very scary. With a week to go in the Olympics, it sounds like more of this will be happening. Once the athletes finish their events and start traveling around at night, look out. Getting robbed at gunpoint is frightening. Can you imagine if those thugs shot or killed one of the swimmers?
  21. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 05:45 AM) Our brain trust has apparently decided that he's not an every day catcher. So even if it makes sense to play him every day the rest of the season Navarro and Avila will get all of the AB's. Just like our brain trust has decided Avi Garcia is a 5 tool stud outfielder and will run him out there until the wheels fall off even if 1000+ PA's tell them otherwise. It's ridiculous to give Avila or Navarro one more at bat. Catch Omar every game and have somebody else be his backup. Avila and Navarro were disasters and they are not in the plans for next year.
  22. QUOTE (captain54 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) I think the notion of JR selling off his share of the team is BS. Everyone involved takes a hit on the capital gains tax. Upon his passing his heirs will be handed over a tidy sum with the sale of the club, which I'm sure is now held in trust I also believe JR wants nothing more than one more trip to the World Series before the end of his day All of this logically explains the reluctance to rebuild. 3 yrs from now is a long time, but if the Sox can keep reloading and strike gold like they did in 05, gives them much more to work with in renewing the TV deal. By then, it will most likely be a Hawks/Sox/Bulls network, and it's any bodies guess as whether the Six are gonna command the same $$$ as they do now Yes but JR might want to see his heirs get the large sum of money now. Why wait until he's gone? He can bring joy to a lot of family members and partners now with the massive money they get following a sale.
  23. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 06:46 AM) No. Why not? These games are meaningless and we need Sale and Q for next season and we want to lose to get better draft pick. So why not?
  24. I have a question for those on the board who want us to lose every game to get a better draft pick, the best possible draft pick. ... Would you be in favor of shutting down Sale and Q, even Robertson, the rest of the season? Why should they pitch the last two weeks of August and four weeks of September and risk injury or wear and tear? We are out of the race for sure. I would think you draftniks would prefer Sale and Q and Robertson simply sit and save their arms for next year. Just as you say there's no plausible reason for us to win any more games, there's equally no plausible reason for Sale and Q to risk injury in meaningless games. Please answer the question for me ... to those who want us to lose games ... should Sale, Q and even Robertson sit the rest of the season because they are virtually meaningless games and they are pitchers we want healthy as we try again next year?
  25. Nice win. Anderson drew another walk. I'll take it. Progress! I can't believe we actually have a better record than KC when KC has owned us this year. It just shows you how bad the Royals are when they are four under .500 despite being five over .500 against the Sox. Crazy.
