  1. Jose's having such a great night and yet that at bat was so bad it's laughable. Weird.
  2. Maybe the Sox will lose 13 in a row. Nobody would be surprised if we drop all four in Minnie would you?
  3. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 02:25 AM) Sitting down during the national anthem is more patriotic than standing during it. DoD paid $53 million of taxpayers' money to pro sports for military tributes, report says Playing the anthem is a tribute to our military. It seems to me most Americans are very supportive of the military. Some of those tributes at games are pretty nice. Colin K is taking a stand that is a slap in the face to all members of the military. If he doesn't mean it as a slap to the military then donate one million out of your 14 per season to Wounded Warriors, Colin. His stance is truly pathetic. Deadpool, do you have something against our fine men and women of the military? You know a lot of military have given their lives so we can remain free. A lot have lost limbs and have had to deal with s*** medical care here back home. Colin sitting during the anthem is such a punk move. If I were his dad I'd tell him to f***ing grow up and he's lucky I'm not disowning him. Pathetic.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Trump's speech last night was one of his most disturbing and disgusting yet. It's really disheartening that he's still going to get ~40% of the vote. Some of us Americans think it's 'disheartening' Hillary Clinton is going to get at least 60-70 percent of the vote. IMO she is a despicable candidate. I can't sleep thinking about her 8 years and what's going to happen.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 12:47 AM) I'll give you credit elrockin, I'm not sure how anyone can still endure this frustrating team on a daily basis. Most of us have to take a break now and then for our own sanity, but you just keep on chugging. I may not agree with all your viewpoints, but there's no questioning your fandom. You definitely deserve respect on that front. Of course. He's the best fan ever. Good to see Avi show some emotion. Avi isn't very good.
  6. QUOTE (Scoots @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 02:02 AM) The White Sox are the team to stop the Twins 13 game losing streak. And they will probably be swept. So embarrassing. The twins have 7 hits and 7 runs the sox have 11 hits and 2 runs. Give me a break. I feel your pain. That's the only word for this season again EMBARRASSING. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 02:16 AM) What are the odds that Cabrera, Abreu and Frazier ALL actually hit the way they're capable of in April and May next year? Seems like we always have a key hitter (Melky and Eaton in 2015, Abreu this year) missing in action for at least one-half the season, and it completely debilitates our offense. Amen, brother. The odds are horrible they'll all hit the way they're capable of in April/May. Isn't it amazing Abreu has put together a season after all. .292 with 20 homers? You can make a lot of money doing that. Frazier has 34 homers? Yet the team blows total chunks. Very strange. I'd really like to see if a real manager can sleepwalk and still get this amount of talent to finish 10 over .500.
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 08:35 PM) My eyes tell me they suck. f*** the stats. You know what ... this is one of the best posts ever. I don't care about ANY stats right now. I really don't. I watch games and I'm saying this as fact: The White Sox bullpen is crap. Like krazy said, "They suck." The eye test does matter re. this subject. Folks, our bullpen blows and it's a huge reason the Sox can't beat a Central Div. team not named Minnie (once in a while). That bullpen needs to be blown up again. It is beyond horrible.

    Job Thread

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) A week on the job and I already want to gauge my eyes out. I cannot sit for 8 hours a day making phone calls. I have applied for grad school and to be a GA through athletic administration (sports information work). Grad school is free, and I get a paycheck every week including summer. So, I might go get my MBA and practice something that I know I will love doing. How is your job going? Are you cold calling people out of the phone book or ? How do they sell insurance nowadays? Tell us how the business works. A lot of people have considered insurance sales.
  9. I won't vote for Trump or Hillary, but I'd rather have Trump than Hillary. I'll write in Jesse Ventura I guess.
  10. Coulter had a good piece today. When Hillary wins, that's it for the Republican party. Eight more years of Democratic reign buries the Republicans forever. And you all get mad at me, but after Hillary, it's Chelsea for eight more. I sure hope the Clintons have the magic button to fixing our world. Cause America is in trouble right now especially economically. The little guy is eventually going to revolt. The one percenters are sickening.
  11. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 05:22 AM) Was at Marist game at soldier field tailgate was very cool. Will probably hit a couple more. Their problem is they are not good enough to compete in 8A especially after a loss or two in the regular season. I hear you. Somehow Marist made the final last year though. if Marist can do it, maybe one of these years? I do think Dino will have to improve. You face a strong strong defensive team and they pick off some of those ill advised passes and you lose. Case closed.
  12. QUOTE (South Sider @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 06:24 PM) I don't know. Whatever is going on on the North side, I feel left out. You won't see me buying any Cubs tickets or clothing, but this Sox fan might just be rooting for the Cubs come October. No need to root for them. Just watch it and observe. Why root for them? They hate us. They are the enemy. If they must win so be it but why root for them?
  13. QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 12:26 AM) The bullpen has destroyed us this year.... utterly. The bullpen destroys us every year. Some of the moves look good on paper, but the relievers always blow chunks. My gawd, it's not that difficult. You win with defense and pitching. We have decent starting pitchers who rarely go 7 innings and a PATHETIC bullpen always. And our defense and team speed is nothing to write home about.
  14. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 11:21 PM) Why did we not walk Collins with a runner on 3rd (winning run) and 1 out to set up the double play in the 9th? Pure stupidity. I don't care if it's the 9 spot up in the order any major league player can hit a fly ball. This is another one of Robin's unexplainable decisions that will cost our team wins in the long run. Because ... he concedes so many games. Just flat out gives up. He's just not a leader. Case closed. I'm not saying it's all his fault, not at all. But he's not working and he must go.
  15. Four hits today. LOL. Sox are a disgrace in their own division. It's an embarrassment, truly and embarrassment. Robin is so gone. I can't believe he hasnt resigned by now. How can he look in the mirror when his team lays down series after series vs. the Central?
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) Their staff is young so hopefully they are learning. Sunday was much better, over time they should be a strong point for the team. The OC and DC are both new so we'll see. The defensive line for Rice should be a strong point for them. That D Lineman is really good as is a LB and safety. Just not sure what the O line will bring. If they protect the QB they will be dangerous but O line play has hurt on a consistent basis over the years. You going to any games this year Harry? I keep telling myself I have to come in for a game some day. I'd love to check out a game at Rice's field.
  17. He's another bust. He blows. I never thought he'd be as bad as Dayan, but he is.
  18. Ho hum. Another loss vs. Detroit. Just another game where we laid over and let a Central team stomp us.
  19. It's scouting and it's execution and it's not caring about beating one's divisional foes. The White Sox opponents know where we are gonna hit the ball and are positioned perfectly. Their pitchers know how to strike out our hitters. I'd love to see strikeout totals vs. the Central the last four years. Also our team does not play "hard." The Royals always get up for our games and seem to enjoy kicking our ass. Remember before this year when they kept throwing at our hitters? The Sox just stroll out there the same way against all opponents. That lazy attitude doesn't cut it and we lose. Our talented players usually perform way better against good teams outside the division. We need to dump Robin, and improve our scouting.
  20. Do the Royals have a better chance of winning the division than netting the wild card? I think so. The wild card is tough to make up one game a week.
  21. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 03:57 AM) Why wouldn't you take 4:1 odds on the best team in baseball and heavy favorites to win the World Series? I mean those are great odds for a team in their position no? Do you think they are going to win the World Series? It's a simple question. If the answer is yes why not take the wager? Those are incredible odds for the money. If you go to Vegas you got to bet 1,000 on the Cubs to win 4 grand.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) This may fail miserably, but here goes. I think the next time you hear an athlete 1) answer a question by cleverly not answering, immediately followed by 2) throwing out a droll sports cliche, this should be called a Rick-Robin. Like being rick-rolled, except the media is being rick-robinned. I'm bored, sue me. Nice. Excellent post.
  23. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 10:36 PM) ChiSox59, you have your opinion, I have mine. But it is a well known fact that CEO's can be compensated by corporate boards (with salary, stock options, and bonuses) that are hundreds of times more than what regular employees are making, while performance is not commensurate. Not comical / inaccurate at all. Read this to find out the outrageous amounts that CEO’s are getting paid: https://www.thestreet.com/story/13463357/4/...much-money.html Victor Ciardelli seems like a regular guy. He started and built privately held ‘guaranteed Rate’ on his own, and wasn't brought in from the outside and given hundreds of millions of dollars from a corporate board of directors, like other CEO’s. I'm not a big CEO guy either. Somehow our country's workforces have turned into paying one CEO a gazillion dollars and the little guys get hosed on lousy benefits, salary, vacation and the like. I don't like it. Companies think they are doing the little guy a favor just by matching 401K's anymore for gosh sakes. Most don't even match 'em. Disgraceful.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) That's pretty ignorant. Why do you have the right to do what you believe? Well, it is a team sport like I said. Coaches generally push the buttons of "one for all and all for one." A quarterback is a leader. It seems kind of counterproductive to have the QB do this one thing that thrusts so much attention on himself in the preseason. I would think odds are there are a ton of athletes who probably would love to sit out the anthem as well. They just don't do it. Now as an Ozzie supporter, I love outlandish behavior and didn't mind him thrusting all the attention on himself. Maybe I should have minded that more, but I do feel he did a lot of that to take the heat off his players and let them play ball while he took a lot of the headlines by saying wild stuff.
  25. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 04:28 AM) greg I doubt people dislike you, they may think you troll to much but dislike is a stretch. Hell you annoy me but I still don't dislike you. Thank u. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 04:30 AM) Eh, I'd buy you a beer. Thank u. I wouldn't want a Falstaff, Schlitz or Hamms (kidding, old beer references). I don't know what I'd order actually. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) I think you are the best poster on this site And I am not just saying that becasue you could have sat next to me high school Thank u. My cross country coach at Rice was Brother Schul. I wonder what happened to him. Overall he was really young at the time and a very nice guy. I don't think he really knew what he was doing though. I do know he was mad as hell at me after the league meet my freshman year. You had to walk the CC course before to know where you were supposed to go. It was at some park somewhere. We sufficiently learned the course. The gun sounded on a cold wet November day. We all started running and the pack of Catholic League runnes took a right turn. Myself and my Rice pal started to go the correct way, but we panicked and followed the pack going the wrong way. Anyhow, the pack indeed went the wrong way. After a couple miles we saw the chute and kicked it in. The meet organizers signaled we all went the wrong way and we had to repeat the course. Gassed from sprinting and thinking the race was over, my shoes all full of mud, I fell from about fifth overall to about 90th during our repeat run of the course. When the race ended Schul grabbed me and screamed, "All you bleeps had to do was go the right way and we would have won the meet! What the hell were you thinking??" He was furious. I was tired and mad and I hated cross country that much more.
