2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 05:04 PM) Why laugh when those 2 articles suggest Chelsea might run? Why laugh when we know we're more apt to elect Democrats than Republicans to the oval office? Why laugh when we're in a day and age you don't have to have any political experience to run? Why laugh when Chelsea seems to (finally) be enjoying being in the public eye and hearing her own voice in interviews? Finally why laugh when a large segment of Americans think it's the Clinton's duty/right to serve as President?

QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) https://twitter.com/zgazda66/status/774993814025011200 HRC fainting in NYC. I don't know if Americans care or not, but Hillary's health seems to be something worth discussing. I wish Hillary and everyone good health. I despise her but I don't want her to be in poor health. She had some kind of issue today for sure.

Sept 11th Game Thread: ChiSox vs. KC Specials
Well, the Sox have helped turn KC's season around 3-4 times this year already. KC winning 2 of 3 would probably classify as doing that again. I think KC had lost six of nine before the Sox bullpen blew yesterday's game again.
-
What should the Sox do this winter?
The Sox could use a serviceable bullpen for once. Do you realize they've blown leads late in almost all the losses to KC this year? Beck yesterday just got hammered by a stumbling KC team. Until the Sox get some bullpen guys who can get people out and/or starters who can pitch into the 8th you are looking at this trainwreck of a team. The defense did seem a little better this year.

2017 Lineup
QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 12:32 AM) Saladino is not an upgrade on Lawrie. More of a lateral move. And you're probably not getting major league ready talent back for Lawrie or Frazier so how exactly does that help us next year? Starting an unproven question mark at catcher is also a bad idea for a team that intends on contending. If this team actually plans on contending I don't want another year of relying on maybes and probably nots. Our lineup is far from good for next year. But please stop. Lawrie must go. Saladino must stay. Trade Lawrie along with several other guys like Avi, Melky.

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 01:48 AM) Over an entire season I don't see him as being an upgrade over Lawrie yet. But he is a nice player to have. It's really too bad he can't play the outfield to be used as a super sub kind of like Jurickson Profar. OMG. Lawrie is a joke. Get rid of him and give the job to Saladino. Can't you people see he can hit???? QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 02:14 AM) Greg, he's a 746 career ops guy in the minors and still just 663 for the Sox. He could be a 725ish guy (like now, playing against the most favorable matchups) but it's a crapshoot. Anderson does seem to play well with him, but I wouldn't depend on him and then envision that as a playoff team. He's perfectly suited as a super-utility player on a much better team. Utility player? Please. At some point don't you guys trust your EYES? He is a fricking stud and a team player. You watch him when he gets on base? You watch him LEAD? I'm just sick the Sox will never make him a regular.

OMG, many of you have screamed at me and told me to stop mentioning Chelsea for the Presidency. Hmmm ... Greg isn't as fricking dumb as you think. Now it's on CNN!! She will not discount her political aspirations and already has Bill's support. Great. ... http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/...r-the-long-run/ https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/apr/...nancy-president 16 straight years of Clinton rule, folks. Let's hope the Clintons know what they are doing.

We have to do something big. Rodman's buddy is VERY dangerous, folks. He will lob a nuke at somebody at some time, you can bet on it.

LOL. I do a google search on Chelsea and get this predictable story. The women of the View helping Hillary out with softball questions to Chelsea. What they did to McCain that one year was criminal, Whoopi asking him if she had to worry about being a slave again if he wins. Thank goodness I don't watch the View. I just betcha they asked her about her own presidential aspirations. Hell, why not make sure Hillary gets 8 years then Chelsea eight more. For the life of me I do not know why Whoopi thinks Hillary fricking Clinton is the answer to problems of African Americans. A rich elitist and black America just worships her. http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/tim-gr...and-trustworthy

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 01:34 AM) I'm all in on Saladino at 2B next season. He's just a smart, sound MLB player and the Sox shouldn't waste him letting him rot on the bench as utility next year. Sox are too dumb to play Saladino regularly. Anybody with half a brain can see he is an everyday player and a fricking stud. He plays the game the right way, always encouraging teammates, bashing the f***ing baseball all over the park. Get rid of Lawrie now!!! Saladino is the man; Lawrie is NOT! Again ... Sox are too stupid to play Saladino. It's their loss.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) She said half of his supporters. To imply that many Americans are irredeemable is a pretty toxic statement from someone running for President. Apparently she agrees because she is already trying to walk it back. No doubt this is gonna hurt her in the polls, she didnt need this. She's elitist for sure. I'm shocked people can't figure this out. Her popularity is baffling. She's not out to help anybody not named Hillary, Bill, Chelsea and I'm sorry her son in law's name escapes me and her grandkid's name escapes me. Aside from those five, forget about it.

Carlos Rodon
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) Someone do doesn't want to pay $12-15M AAV for the likes of Brett Anderson, Clay Bucholz, Andrew Cashner, Jeremy Hellickson, Derek Holland, Rich Hill, etc. Shields will be tough to move, but if the Sox are willing to give him away (I suspect they will be), I bet he could be moved including much cash. $10M AAV is below the going rate for a back rotation innings eater. Inning eater? LOL. Yeah if you pitch him six he'll give up seven (runs).

Carlos Rodon
Glad to see him pitching well and competing hard. Screaming on the mound. Nice. Means little though cause our team only plays well when the pressure is off. Love Rodon though.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 04:58 AM) Since when was Obama an atheist? She's not president yet. As for Kennedy, if you know your history, the JCS wanted to do exactly that during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He learned from the Bay of Pigs to exercise restraint and do the exact opposite, following his brother's advice. They received two conflicting telexes from Moscow, and deliberately disregarded the one that was basically a declaration of war because they couldn't be sure who was actually in charge. I'd say the odds of her being President are 99 percent. And the odds of her winning a second term are 99 percent. The odds of Chelsea probably 60 percent only because I'm not sure she wants it. I wonder if Mrs. Obama has any interest at all or if she's not into the political thing.

Read an article today about Hillary's appearance in KC this week. Officials expected a sellout crowd in one of the downtown theatres, maybe it was The Midland, I forget. Anyhow, the crowd was so bad they put up a big curtain or something. It shows again how America doesn't give a bleep about Hillary Clinton. The crowd on a beautiful day in downtown KC was MISERABLE. BTW, in reading the story, she was speaking to some religious leaders as well who sponsored the rally. I know we have a lot of religion haters on here. You religion haters will not be pleased to learn Hillary quoted the Bible EXTENSIVELY in her long speech and mentioned God a lot and also said she was humble that she's been saved. So Greg does despise Hillary, but I am happy our President is a believer. GO SOX!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 06:31 PM) The problem that this has been a situation that has been festering for a long time now, and what we are doing isn't working. Exactly. I am very worried about NK starting a nuclear war. Their leader is dumb enough and has a big ego. They kill government leaders all the time in NK. Rodman's buddy would probably love to start a nuclear war at some point for the history books. Ego. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) So what increased response from the US is necessary here? NK has been sanctioned into oblivion. An actual invasion is WWIII. I'm sure that the US is putting diplomatic pressure on China for a stronger response from their end. What would you like for the US to do here? I would like Obama to tell them if they test a nuke again, we're coming over and either they give us the nukes or we bomb the hell out of them. Threaten NK, Mr. Obama. Kennedy would have.

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 04:14 AM) That might have something to do with the fact the Sox have been out of contention for months. I said earlier in the year he will be Semien 2.0 with how he gets handled. Good call, soxforlife. You called it. The Sox scouts and talent evaluators are a joke. I see a real hitter; a real baseball player in Saladino. The Sox brass sees a stiff. Sad.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 03:12 AM) Pretty much the same as every year the Sox are out of the playoff hunt. Might be fans rooting for losses to get a better draft pick than rooting for a win. I could never do that I enjoy every Sox win. Nobody's posting because it's Friday night and our team sucks. That's all. I'm like you. I root for wins. The draft is a joke. Our draft picks have been nothing special. I'll never care about the draft. Give me wins baby.

And this is why he could be back next year. Our team's performance the last 3 years has reeked. Bye bye. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 04:09 AM) Saladino is a perfect guy to play on a rebuilding club. Maybe next year he gets his 550+ PAs. He actually could play on a contending club. The Sox brass should be ashamed of themselves for not recognizing they have a real HITTER here and he should be starting for the White Sox. No reason to underappreciate this guy any more. HE CAN HIT. Obama needs to threaten North Korea and now! Tell them we feel their nuke exercises are a very big threat and either prove they've dismantled their nukes or we're coming over to do it for them. The N. Korean leader has nothing to lose. He wants to be remembered forever and my guess is if he can figure a way to lob a nuke at the USA he's going to do it. Act now, Obama.

The Anthem
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 06:09 AM) The more I think about it this really is a brilliant way to protest. There's some merit to what some people joked about in here where when people burn cities down we chastise them and are so appalled that they cant protest peacefully and then when they kneel during the anthem we still bite their heads off. Its also something that pisses a lot of people off so it will keep their message in the news and is gaining some steam as athletes in other sports and on other teams are doing it now too. I still dont know what else it can do besides raise awareness but its a peaceful message on an important topic. Id also imagine it doesnt offend people in the military because they are fighting for his freedom to protest. It's a horrible way to protest. Some talk show last night discussed this and a couple military guys called in and are furious. They've had buddies die in war. Why would you imagine it doesn't offend military people when so much of their daily routine involves the flag? There's so much respect toward the anthem and flag. My opinion is Colin is a punk for doing this. That's my personal take and as far as sports it's about the most selfish thing he could do to a team, thrust all the attention on himself. Disgraceful.
