K.C. Specials @ Chicago WHite Sox
greg775 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 03:12 AM) Pretty much the same as every year the Sox are out of the playoff hunt. Might be fans rooting for losses to get a better draft pick than rooting for a win. I could never do that I enjoy every Sox win. Nobody's posting because it's Friday night and our team sucks. That's all. I'm like you. I root for wins. The draft is a joke. Our draft picks have been nothing special. I'll never care about the draft. Give me wins baby. -

QUOTE (Scoots @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 03:43 AM) Ventura isn't the best manager but he isn't the worst. I mean, you really can't blame him for the team's performance this year. And this is why he could be back next year. Our team's performance the last 3 years has reeked. Bye bye. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 04:09 AM) Saladino is a perfect guy to play on a rebuilding club. Maybe next year he gets his 550+ PAs. He actually could play on a contending club. The Sox brass should be ashamed of themselves for not recognizing they have a real HITTER here and he should be starting for the White Sox. No reason to underappreciate this guy any more. HE CAN HIT. For real, folks. -
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) Hell I'd vote for Romney or McCain before Clinton lol The question is how much damage can Hillary personally do in eight years? My guess is a lot. We're in deep trouble folks.

Obama needs to threaten North Korea and now! Tell them we feel their nuke exercises are a very big threat and either prove they've dismantled their nukes or we're coming over to do it for them. The N. Korean leader has nothing to lose. He wants to be remembered forever and my guess is if he can figure a way to lob a nuke at the USA he's going to do it. Act now, Obama.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 06:09 AM) The more I think about it this really is a brilliant way to protest. There's some merit to what some people joked about in here where when people burn cities down we chastise them and are so appalled that they cant protest peacefully and then when they kneel during the anthem we still bite their heads off. Its also something that pisses a lot of people off so it will keep their message in the news and is gaining some steam as athletes in other sports and on other teams are doing it now too. I still dont know what else it can do besides raise awareness but its a peaceful message on an important topic. Id also imagine it doesnt offend people in the military because they are fighting for his freedom to protest. It's a horrible way to protest. Some talk show last night discussed this and a couple military guys called in and are furious. They've had buddies die in war. Why would you imagine it doesn't offend military people when so much of their daily routine involves the flag? There's so much respect toward the anthem and flag. My opinion is Colin is a punk for doing this. That's my personal take and as far as sports it's about the most selfish thing he could do to a team, thrust all the attention on himself. Disgraceful.

Is Johnson the answer? Should we all be voting for him?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 01:55 AM) No more corrupt than the average politician, probably less so given how many investigations she's been subjected to that have found no wrongdoing. Just look at the latest string of them: up to about a baker's dozen House committees investigating Benghazi that completely unsurprisingly have found nothing, more recently a bunch of reports about how Huma blew off some people asking for special access and how scandalous it was for Clinton to meet with a nobel peace prize/presidential/congressional medal winner. Feel free to list specifics if you want, but since you already went to the Whitewater well, I don't have high hopes. She is so corrupt it is beyond belief. I mean it's not often a sure fire bet to win is as corrupt as Hillary. It is simply unbelievable she is going to be our President with her lies and her foundation and her past.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 12:33 AM) Alexei was a 4 fWAR player in his prime. Give the guy some more credit. He was a damn fine ballplayer. He was damn good. We tend to bury our own on here. That play Anderson made the other day in the hole to his right was amazing. He barely missed throwing the guy out. Had he made the play it mighta been one of the best I've ever seen a ss make.

QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 03:50 AM) Jose starts finally producing when it doesn't matter and people keep calling me out? Too bad he couldn't do it back when it mattered. I'll reiterate what I've previously said. Jose isn't what we thought he was. The league adjusted to him after his rookie year. He is a mid-tier first baseman. He stunk early, but who cares? The body of work is stellar. Whether or not you are trolling is debatable. If not, I'll just say the league has not conclusively adjusted to him. How can you say that when he's hitting .300 with almost 30 homers?

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 01:09 AM) Watch more baseball. Why so mean? QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 01:25 AM) Jose is the best. Has kept head down in that insane clubhouse, always gracious. Nice. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 02:35 AM) Soft spoken, extremely friendly. Courteous. A bit star struck sometimes. Strong handshake. Will attempt to speak what little English he knows for the sake of an interviewer. Sounds good.

2016-2017 NCAA football thread
greg775 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Ferentz probably has a clause he can be fired for NCAA violations. So might as well wrap him up to end his career there. He's kind of like Snyder at K-State. You aren't going to do better than Kirk so why not tie him up? -
I wonder what kind of person Jose is. Salt of the earth? Good guy? Lazy? A dick? I know nothing about him. He's obviously having one helluva year thanks to his second-half tear (when we were out of the race). He's an all star right now. I'm not blasting him, just curious if he's one of the top five hitters in the AL or what we've got here??

You guys can rip me all you want, but I love Saladino. Probably my favorite position player on the team. He's a regular in the big leagues folks. Too bad he can't catch. He'd be a good bat for a catcher IMO.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) Robertson going on a 4th straight day. Again, not a fan of this decision. Winning or losing isn't as important right now as keeping the assets healthy. Good point. Great point. But I don't know how much of an 'asset' he is any more. He sort of blows.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 04:39 AM) What a perfect 5th starter he would be for us. How do we shed Shields and grab a threeish-type guy to slide into the 4 role? That's the trick for Hahn & Co. Sale- 1 Quintana- 1.25 Rodon- 3.5 New Guy- 3.5 Gonzalez- 4.5 That's nails. That's not nails if Rodon and Shields suck. Rodon is not guaranteed to get guys out for six, seven innings and Shields can't do it. That leaves two studs and three question marks at best.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 04:06 AM) Nice win. Omar had a nice game as catcher Is Omar for real? That was a nice win, but the fans deserved a clutch hit from Abreu or Frazier late to make it 4-0. -

Cool. That was foul. But it was really crushed.
