  1. Bernie was in my neck of the woods today. If you listen to this man, you will realize he SHOULD be the Democratic candidate. Bernie Sanders is a great man and a helluva candidate! He's the polar opposite of Hillary. I happen to think Hillary is a liar and a fairly rotten person. My opinion. Bernie appears to be a truth teller and a good person.
  2. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 05:14 AM) Ladies and gentlemen, your Republican candidates for presidency. If people don't see that Kasich is the only f***ing shot, then the GOP deserve every f***ing thing that's about to happen to them. It is simply amazing the Republicans can't get a reasonable person, a good candidate, and a guy with a helluva track record the fricking nomination - Mr. Kasich. You said it all. Great great post.
  3. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 09:48 PM) Im just glad I dont have to listen to Ben Carson beg for people to attack him so he gets time to talk this time. Good observation! That was kinda humorous. I'm a little surprised the media wasn't kinder to Dr. Carson. As the only African-American candidate, in this day and age of PC, you'd think the media would have been a little more careful in regards to treatment of him. They kind of made him seem buffoon-ish. Strange behavior especially after eight years of kid gloves treatment of Obama. There aren't many Republicans in the national political media, I am assuming.
  4. Good story about a prisoner in Colorado who got in six or more good punches in on the asshole who entered the theatre in Colorado and murdered innocent people in the most terrifying of ways. It is disgusting Colorado won't reveal where this bastard currently is incarcerated. THey MUST give this information out. It's probably sad I think this way, but I'm happy the prisoner beat the s*** out of Holmes. He said he wishes he could have killed Holmes but only beat the crap out of him. https://www.yahoo.com/gma/exclusive-inside-...topstories.html
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 10:17 PM) http://www.vox.com/2016/3/1/11142390/chris...ian-joke-oscars What Chris Rock's lazy Asian joke revealed about "diversity" at the Oscars It was comedy so I'm not outraged, but when you think about it, in today's PC day and age, that was pretty ballsy of Rock to go there especially using little kids as "props." I'm not offended, don't get me wrong, but it's interesting how he and the Oscars went there.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 06:05 AM) Kelly and Fox News would love to have Clinton in office for four years, it means much higher ratings (and revenues) for FOX than when a Republican is in office. Comparing Adam Eaton and Hillary Clinton isn't going to get us anywhere. A lot of that incident was staged as an "ambush" at a private fundraising dinner, it was more or less a calculated stunt meant to provoke a confrontation and not a legitimate attempt at real dialogue. As always, there's a double standard for what a Clinton, Trump or Bush can get away (heck, anyone on Wall Street the last decade), compared to a normal, middle class American. Great posts Caulfield. You are a political maestro IMO. I like your last paragraph here as it points to yet another story I found suggesting that Bill and Hillary feel entitled to do anything they please. Here was another atrocity IMO. http://observer.com/2016/03/no-shame-for-b...-no-boundaries/
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 01:56 AM) Greg, if Condoleezza Rice or Colin Powell were running for president this year, would you be making the same accusations towards them, since they basically did the exact same thing she's accused of? (Actually with Secretary Powell, he also---unknowingly, since he was obviously lied to---lied to the United Nations on behalf of the president, so you can add that as well.) As soon as you can find ONE Democratic official crossing sides and pushing for a criminal indictment of her, that's when your argument will actually have some traction. Otherwise, you won't find more than a handful of "reasonable" Republicans like John McCain arguing she SHOULDN'T be indicted. A lot of them were probably lining up to impeach Bill Clinton in 1998 as well. I guess I am also curious if, to your knowledge, you've been able to change the mind of one person or more about Hillary Clinton...or are you actually having a counter-effect of forcing those who don't have a strong opinion one way or the other (maybe some independents or moderates) to support or defend her? People will believe whatever they want to believe, and nothing will convince them any differently. Any of us who talk about politics here could come up with a LONG list of pages and pages of quotes and comments from Donald Trump and present it to a Trump supporter and surely none or very few would be convinced to change their vote...in fact, they'd probably be even more likely to dig in, accuse you of being part of the Republican establishment and pledge to go out and bring in more voters on his behalf. In South Carolina, a CBS News exit poll found that 75 percent of Republican voters supported banning Muslims from the United States. A PPP poll found that a third of Trump voters support banning gays and lesbians from the country. Twenty percent said Lincoln shouldn't have freed the slaves. Would you honestly rather join ranks with THAT group? Because that's likely to be the choice, unless you write-in a candidate or vote 3rd party. Good post Caulfield. I may be having the counter effect, but it angers me to see her berate that African American woman today who asked her a couple questions. "Why don't you run for something?" And then she had a wicked laugh. I mean, again, that is WAY WORSE than anything Adam Eaton did in his tweet. She was condescending and mean and wouldn't answer the person's question. Then I read Meghan Kelly is gushing about how Hillary is destined to make history in November over and over. I don't understand why somebody like this guy I know, who WORKS FOR the government says he'd be in jail and fired long ago if he breached security like Hillary did with her emails. And Hillary doesn't get in trouble at all. Caulfield you are a political mastermind, please answer that question for me.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 10:45 PM) The FBI is not specifically investigating Clinton, and their ongoing investigation is not criminal. Good article, but I'm most interested with the first 2-3 paragraphs of that article. "As the 2016 campaign heats up, so too the clarion calls for Hillary Clinton to be charged with a federal crime stemming from her use of a personal email server while serving as Secretary of State. Last week, former U.S. Attorney General and Judge Michael Mukasey amplified his call for her head on a criminal platter. This week, The Hill reports that the FBI investigation “isn’t letting up” and former House Majority Leader Tom Delay became the latest conservative to predict that the FBI would soon recommend she be indicted (and he certainly knows a thing or two about the criminal justice system)."
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 11:33 PM) I'd just like to point out again that the idea that Clinton is under any sort of criminal investigation at all was a complete fabrication by the NYT. So you are denying the FBI is currently examining this issue and even as we speak wanting to speak with some more Clinton aides?
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 10:05 PM) Really informative article and quote from DiGenova, an attorney who has been gnashing his teeth at Benghazi for 4 years and contributes heavily to Republicans, and worked for Romney. No actual evidence was provided, just a nice hit piece right as she figures out her candidacy. My hope as a Hillary 'hater' if that's the right word is the FBI recommends charges be filed within the next two months. Now if the FBI does that, can it just be ignored?? If so ... we are not living in a democracy anymore. So again, it's very very possible the FBI recommends charges, say in May. Then at the convention the Democratic party decides that a person on trial cannot be its candidate. Some people think it's a done deal that at least the FBI will recommend charges be filed. if we as a country ignore that, then God help us all. My question to lawyers is ... does the FBI have the final say? Or can Obama say "hogwash, we are not prosecuting Ms. Clinton."
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) http://www.bostonherald.com/news/us_politi...ntion_wild_card So does anyone believe charges will actually be brought? Limbaugh does.
  12. OM goodness, listen to Clinton's condescending laugh at the end of this confrontation with a black woman today. "Why don't you go run for something then?" That's WORSE than anything Eaton said for gosh sakes. Hillary told a young African American woman to go run for something if she disagrees with Hillary. Sickening elitist. http://thefederalist.com/2016/03/02/hillar...something-then/ p.s. I know most of you all hate me for my positions and general demeanor but truth be told I talked to a person today who WORKS for the government he said he flat out "would be in jail" if he did with his email what Hillary did. JAIL. (I realize nobody cares; they'd rather attack Adam Eaton for goshsakes for nothing).
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 07:18 PM) NYT people have said the tape exists, so it's not totally made up. But who knows what he actually said, and the NYT says they won't release unless Trump asks them to. New York Post tears into the Times for purposely leaking this in an Editorial Board off the record meeting with Trump, as editorial boards do with candidates. Says they are out to get him and it was unethical to leak this. Why he would meet with the Times board shocks the world as they want Hillary desperately to win.
  14. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 03:52 AM) So someone uses his status as "celebrity" to try and promote a message about peace and love among all human beings and that is considered racist? Am I missing something here. Good post but in today's PC world saying, "Why is it always about black and white?" is akin to hating all black people because of the Black Lives Matter movement. If you are going to comment on Chris Rock and the Oscar controversy ... that better not be what you say. It better be, "Why the hell aren't there any African Americans up for Oscars?? Did I miss something? I'd turn this off if it wasn't for Chris Rock and the presenters!" Can't.Go.There or anywhere on Twitter if you are a famous person like Eaton.
  15. "Our country is going to hell with being politically correct." — Donald Trump tonight at a rally in Oklahoma City after staring down some guy in a "KKK supports Trump" T-shirt. He said "in the old days security would have gotten him out of here a lot quicker." You got to admit Trump is right about the P.C. stuff. Comedians can't even go on college campuses anymore cause the students won't laugh at any controversial jokes. I wish George Carlin was still alive, my gawd he'd eat the PCers alive!
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 01:11 AM) The Sox certainly don't deserve the benefit of the doubt but if you can't get excited for the season on March 1st then I personally don't even know why you follow the team and sport. Well, it's because a lot of us have been optimistic before every season since 2005. The Sox finally beat me down enough to where I see very few improvements in the offseason and management is banking on bounceback and or career years from a batch of players. If they kick ass, wonderful, but I'm finally skeptical. Also the defense appears incredibly shaky, we've got two no-name catchers in a division with Salvy Perez for gosh sakes and absolutely no shortstop. Yikes! But we do have starting pitching again and on paper, possibly a good bullpen. You can be a fan and be extremely skeptical.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 12:20 AM) I feel faint and ready to give up. By all accounts the season is lost and we haven't even made it through game one of the Spring Training schedule I'm just glad people are being realistic.
  18. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 05:53 PM) I might vote for Trump for just that one reason alone: to combat political-correctness and the increasing stifling of free speech. It's turning into an Orwellian nightmare these days and it has to be stopped. If anyone might be the slightest bit put off by a comment, people are guilt-tripped into apologizing even if no real harm was done. No one can freely speak their minds anymore and it's BS, it's definitely not America. Eaton shouldn't have apologized, he instead should have pulled "a Trump" and boldly denied that he said anything that could even be remotely construed as racist. He shouldn't be catering to the PC extremists. By apologizing, it makes it looks like he DID do something wrong and helps to fuel more PC in a vicious cycle. I sincerely hope that Sox management didn't order him to apologize. That would be a serious chicken-poo move. Supurb post. You capture my sentiments 100 percent. I'd never apologize for that inocuous (sp?) post. Post more often please. Great post! QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 06:40 PM) We're all going to say something stupid eventually and there are a million people out there just waiting to pounce. That's why I don't ever post to facebook, twitter, etc. Exactly. Tremendous post. "Pounce" is exactly the word. Twitter equals evil IMO.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) I hated the idea of Mitt 4 years ago. With this ship of fools, I would happily vote for Mitt if I had the chance. Great post. My sentiments exactly. I despised Mitt and now I'd give away my old catcher's mitt if Mitt was the nominee.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) Wasn't Eaton a Gold Glove finalist a few years ago? His arm is a wet noodle isn't it?
  21. Finally a realistic look at our team instead of a rosy outlook when everybody is 0-0. Our defense assures us of no playoffs. The team would have to hit like crazy to make up for this defense. The formula remains defense and a great bullpen and we have neither. If we wind up somehow outslugging every team in baseball, my bad. But the Sox hitting has not been great of late and as this thread suggests the defense is horrific.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) The irony of the timing and your lack of self awareness is amazing. Well, the Trump camp attacking of a photographer today already is getting way more press than this Hillary incident. Watch the way the protestor was treated (yes hands were placed on her and she only had a sign) and tell me Cruz or Trump wouldn't have been lit up over this. Meanwhile, this photographer incident is exploding already. Photographer tackled during Trump rally. Albeit he shouldn't have been roughed up, but at some point somebody is going to point out we have a horrific stable of Presidential candidates. How bout Biden joining the race and Warren? Now?
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 10:58 PM) Oh Greg.... I just don't see what he said that was so bad. Eaton's only problem is tweeting anything besides cliches to please all fans of all teams. Like "Boy I'm having fun in the sun at spring training!" Gosh oh gee I feel like if we play as well as we can we can do some great things this year!" QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 11:36 PM) Robin Ventura prefers players stay off social media (1/2): "Any time you get on twitter you’re going to get some backlash I don’t care ..." https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/704432244593545216 Robin Ventura on social media 2/2: " you say. ... It just never goes well, I don’t care what you say. So it’s just better to stay off it." https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/704432428287336449 Robin is 100 percent right. Unless you are willing to be a Trump and fight back you simply can't afford to Tweet anything remotely topical or deemed as controversial in this day and age. It's simply absurd the PC in today's world but it is what it is (see, I know my cliches). Kudos to Robin. He's 100 percent right.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 07:34 PM) BTW if this was any politico besides Hillary it'd be all over the news ... still.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 09:10 PM) He is saying why does everything have to be divisive, which is exactly what taking the "get off my tv" position is doing back. Eaton said nothing more than "can't we all just get along". Exactly. He made a simple tweet. He did nothing wrong. That's one reason Trump winning wouldn't be so bad. This P.C. world is fricking ridiculous. Like that situation at Mizzou. Half that stuff was set up and caused by ACTIVISTS. No wonder Pinkel said the hell with it and got out. He's too old to put up with all this p.c. crap. Poor Eaton. So many celebrities have had careers ruined by little tweets. I don't blame him on this one except he was ridiculously stupid to not realize you can't say what you really think on "social media." He should have thought one thing, said that to his wife, then wrote, "You tell em, Chris Rock! I've always loved Chris Rock and he's great as usual tonight!"
