  1. Basically the coin toss story is runresolved. This new story makes absolutely no sense at all. It's unreadable.
  2. How can they hold the Olympics? Isn't this a recipe for disaster?
  3. Hillary "won" and we're hearing nothing about the 6-for-6 coin flips. Hilarious. If Bernie had won there's be coin flip mocking going on and investigations. It's her turn to be president for 8 years, folks and there's nothing anybody can do about it. Hope you Hillary backers realize you're setting it up so nicely on a tee for Chelsea to succeed mom. I don't understand why our country wants the Clintons so badly. Tell me I'm wrong about the coin toss scandal. Six for six? Sure.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 2, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) If you read the new testament, one thing that jumps out at me is that Christ himself didn't pester people to convert. He went in, preached the word, and then left. No extra guilt. No chasing people around. Either you hear the holy spirit or you didn't. He even acknowledged that some would be deaf to the word of God. How do people who call themselves Christians not see this? Great post. I don't live near my siblings, etc., but when they ask me over holidays if I still go to church, I just say yes and never expand on it. Not going to be a preacher type guy to turn them off. They've never asked me any questions about why I believe or anything so I don't try to get them to convert even though I think it would help my sister. I'm not gonna go there because people don't want to hear it and I don't want to be "that pushy relative."
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 2, 2016 -> 07:28 AM) https://www.yahoo.com/politics/coin-flip-io...-044156528.html Clinton apparently won three coin flips that pushed the election in her favor by just 4 out of 1,396 total. Plus, O'Malley ended up with 8 that probably would have gone to Sanders, arguably. There are rumors she "magically" won all six state-wide coin flips, overall. The odds of that happening are just 1 in 64 or 1.6%. Not the way she wanted to kick off the campaign. This is just absurd, beyond belief. They want us to believe Hillary won all six coin flips. I mean I've heard of scandal, but this is scandal. Hopefully public reaction will make it worse than if Hillary and Bernie Sanders split the flips 3-3. I mean 6-0 Hillary on the coin flips?? Cmon America. Cmon Iowa. Fight a fair fight. Sanders got hosed. The DesMoines newspaper better be a watchdog on this one and get to the bottom of Hillary's domination of coin flips.
  6. This is scary about Bernie's Socialism. I don't like Hillary, but Bernie may change the whole system. http://video.foxnews.com/v/4732696573001/g...g#sp=show-clips
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) I miss the old days when the kids were left out of things, both by the media and by the politicians. I agree but I will say this: Obama's two daughters have not been THAT visible the last eight years. You may disagree with me but I think the media handled the daughters well. Yes they've been on TV some, but they haven't grown up on TV by any means.
  8. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 12:44 AM) She's got an 80%+ favorable rating on dems. Assume a 50/50 split of dems/republican. 80% x 50%= 40% Math don't lie. ? If 80 percent of Dems love her, why were we getting stories recently that Hillary and Bernie were neck and neck in Iowa? I get the feeling it's going to be a Hillary runaway and Bernie will be close to dropping out after NH.
  9. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 12:44 AM) She's got an 80%+ favorable rating on dems. Assume a 50/50 split of dems/republican. 80% x 50%= 40% Math don't lie. ? Even Hillary loves have to admit this is pretty funny. We enter the first caucus with Hillary totally getting positive press. The NY Times editorial. The puff piece on how everyone loves Bill Clinton surfacing today. The media is so predictable. Right after the caucus for a few days there will be negative stories on the email or something else, then as we creep close to New Hampshire ... boom there will be more positive fluff on Hillary. I have no idea why the media want Democratic presidents so badly, but they do.
  10. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 04:33 AM) Gotta be tough to be little kids of candidates running for president. I sincerely feel bad for them. Me too. I wish that "story" would get ignored. The 7 year old wasn't in the mood for some kind of photo op hug. Not Ted's fault. Not the kid's fault. Move on, media, or if it's not media, Twitter users.
  11. His is a weird story. After being so durable all those years, does his arm hurt badly? Is it falling off so to speak?? He was great at the start of last season and pretty effective until the end when he basically stopped pitching. If his arm isn't a mess Sox should sign him for 2 million plus a few incentives. Even though we're stock full of lefties it certainly wouldn't hurt to give him a chance considering all the hacks we've used as our fifth starter in recent years.
  12. LOL. New York Times endorses Hillary today. Way to give her that right before the caucus. What a media sham for the queen of america
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 08:29 PM) http://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/latest-c...of-ted-cruz.ece Some more reading to get you put of the Cruz tent... http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/...ama_129494.html And away from Sanders as well. I've never despised a candidate as I do Hillary. I voted for Obama. He failed me. I thought Romney was a lousy candidate. But Hillary ... I hate to say it but I'd almost take anybody but Hillary. I can't imagine her representing our country for eight years. But I do realize that's the reality. How the heck are we going to survive eight years of Hillary. She has no positions of interest. She's trying to barely escape another scandal. She and Trump are the same in they probably are sickened at the thought of picking a Veep. They don't want to share any spotlight. But Hillary I just think is a bit more evil than even Trump if that's the right word.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) How could I in good faith vote for someone who you could put side to side with Hitler quotations and you wouldn't be able to differentiate which quotes were to attributable to each? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/...olf-Hitler.html Pass that quiz and I'll vote for Trump. Trump, to my knowledge, has no plan about improving education or the economy...and dodges policy questions consistently...he wants to penalize every middle class American by putting a tariff on Chinese imports of 45% and doesn't realize that few of those outsourced low-end manufacturing jobs are returning to America no matter how much he blusters. In good faith, would I want someone who could put the lives of every American at risk if he was in charge of the nuclear arsenal? Someone who is indifferent to God and yet is openly pandering to Christian conservatives in Iowa with the picture of him posing with a Bible...after saying 2 Philippians or Colossians instead of 2nd since he's clearly unfamiliar? With Hillary, you have one of the smartest presidents in history at her side...with Trump, you get a former fashion model. You missed the thread where Leonard Pitts convinced me that Trump's legion of fans were too dangerous to put him in office. So I'm not a Trump guy anymore. I was saying Sanders vs. Cruz would be a fair election. Or isn't it time Bush rally? I just don't see how anybody can justify backing somebody like Hillary. She already got her participation award when they named her Secretary of State. Give her another job like that if we must. Great, now I'm reading all the articles that she is ahead in Iowa and going to win Monday. I forgot about the media charade in which they 'criticize' the Democrat when it doesn't matter, then come out blazing in favor of them when it's voting time.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 11:33 PM) http://www.vox.com/2016/1/28/10858464/hill...litical-realism I will vote for her unless Bloomberg's in it, and the economy is still worsening. That said, almost nobody is very excited about her. The Sanders excitement is more about the message than the candidate himself. Assuming he wins NH but loses Iowa and SC, he really needs to win NV or for there to be more legal issues relating to the e-mails. How can you in good faith vote for somebody as sinister as Hillary Clinton? You don't think the smoke around this email thing signals a blazing fire?? How in the world can you want her making decisions for the country?
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) http://americablog.com/2016/01/bernie-sand...ng-atheism.html Uh oh, Greg.... It's not great that Bernie is an atheist but clearly everybody has the right to not be a believer. I'm not so sure Hillary is much of a believer. I think I read somebody speculating she isn't into religion either. My bad if that's wrong. We have some weird candidates this time around. We have Cruz who seems like the male Hillary personality wise, kind of a jerk. We have Bernie who is an alleged socialist and I guess a non believer. We have Trump who is a selfish businessman And we have Hillary who feels she's entitled to be president for some weird reason. Is Jeb Bush so bad after all? Just asking.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) probably more 100% bulls*** leaks from House Republican staffers. How long can people blame the messenger on this? Hillary finally is going down over this IMO.
  18. OK guys, there's no way Hillary can survive this email development. Granted, the public doesn't give a flip apparently she was recklessly firing off emails on secure matters, but these matters were SO PRIVATE and IMPORTANT to the US Government, they can't even release to the public what was in her emails. Can we all agree Hillary is a.) possibly going to jail over this. b.) certainly done as a candidate? http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/01/29...ml?intcmp=hpbt1
  19. I like Robin when I see him on tape like this and hear him speak. Maybe somebody should provide a link after every game to his postgame comments. When you hear him talk about and explain s***, he comes across as a likeable, intelligent manager. What I'm trying to say is I'd be less apt to rip him and think him a clown if I actually watched and heard his postgame explanations like most of you do living in Chicago.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 09:47 PM) https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-p...ign-is-sinking/ Greg, read and enjoy. Thank u caulfield for posting. I do appreciate it! Now my statement: Many of you think Greg is a clown or even worse, a moron, but you have to admit that article touched on some of the reasons I don't like Ms. Clinton. In other words, I am not the only one thinking these things. Folks, is it so hard for us, as a nation, to put the Clintons behind us? They have money; they'll be fine. Let's just have a Bernie Sanders/Cruz fight for the oval office and call it a day.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 04:34 AM) Reading the tea leaves of Merkin and Harrelson's recent comments, betting money would be on "no." Still, it seems, as you stated, very tone deaf to the prevailing mood in the fanbase at the moment. Despondent is not quite the right word, but frustrated is closer. As you also stated, they're not dumb. So forcing a move right now, just to fit it into the PR storyline of Sox Fest...that's almost always going to work out short-term smart but long-term stupid. After everything that went down with the Big 3, unless there's any compelling evidence to the contrary...we're going to have to take the word of KW and Hahn that the right deals were not out there at the moment, and that the team considered all the possibilities and felt waiting until mid-season was the right move, with all the attendant risks of getting buried in April and May and having another lost/development season. Nobody will like that answer...we heard it basically when nothing happened one way or the other last trade deadline. Excellent post, one of your best ever IMO.
  22. Just read your interview. What a nice guy and hard working ballplayer. Two things I picked up: One was how contracts were negotiated back then. Fricking Jerome Holtzman of all people had to tell Walt to stand up for himself and get paid a bit more. And Ed Short threatens Walt with at bats and sure enough Walt didn't get the at bats after that. Also ... would the Sox have won the 67 pennant had Walt not been benched? Sure seems like they might have. Also ... that was good stuff about the Bahnsen 1-hitter. Why did the Sox think Walt Williams would go against the unwritten book and bunt with two outs in the ninth of a no hitter? So weird. And then the Cleveland fans trash his car for busting up a no hitter???? What a mean period of time that must have been.
  23. No. And I need to make up my mind whether to buy mlb.com this year. I don't think our offseason acquisitions make us a contender. I have zero confidence in Robin's ability to get the team to overachieve. Sox desperately need one more stud hitter to go with Abreu. Abreu almost single handedly gives me a reason to get the mlb package though to go with Sale and Q.
  24. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 01:45 PM) The reality is that Fox needs Trump more than Trump needs Fox - he's done fine in polling even with the obvious attempts to prop up Rubio/Cruz and bash him. I think it's Fox making the bad move here - nobody goes to games to watch the umpires. That's what I was thinking. I know you can't abandon one of your star reporters, but they could really lay it to Trump had they agreed to not use Kelly as a moderator but decided to call it "The Meghan Kelly/Fox debate" or something like that. I mean who the heck is going to watch now? We will not get these type of stories, but I'd love to read stories about how worthless this debate is w/out Trump. I mean they've had a batch of debates already; who would watch this bore-fest w/out crazy Donald Trump??
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 02:28 AM) I'd bet money Trump shows up Thursday despite saying he won't since Megyn Kelly is moderating. I don't think he will. I believe he scheduled something else for charity in Iowa that night. If he was smart he'd do that event at the exact same time as the debate. Very hilarious it's a standoff between Trump and Fox. I mean Fox is giving up incredible ratings for its reporter. Very noble, very, but Fox has to know people do not care about Kelly compared to Trump. They should just cancel the debate. Why give the TV time to people nobody cares to listen to without Trump on the same stage. Very compelling story, though. I disagree. I do not think Trump will debate.
