  1. Trump is nuts, screaming at Bush about how he's at 3 percent. I can't imagine that bullying going over well. I mean let's say Bush was at 20 percent and Trump 19 percent. Trump would scream at Bush, "Don't believe the polls! Blah blah." I want Trump to win sometimes just cause I hate P.C. and I hate politics. But he is a rich asshole and rich assholes are pretty much out for themselves. I mean he's lying a lot and winking at us while doing it.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) The Trump candidacy has all but handed the White House to Hillary, which is just depressing. Yeah you are probably right. Coronate the queen now. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) Cruz is a very extreme conservative - he's farther right than any other candidate. He's also infamously unlikable. The Republican establishment hates him because he doesn't cooperate with them, preferring to grandstand and cause problems to build his own hype. But, ultimately, he prefers most of the same positions they do, so they'll back him if he wins. Thank you. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) I don't happen to like Cruz, but he's probably one of, if not the most intelligent people in any fields. Overall though, he's too conservative for me, but he also just has a face that I can't stand. Kind of like Drose in his mask. Yep...I'm awful and I said it. Cruz just doesn't look likeable. Good post and I respect it, but I kinda get blasted when I imply Hilary's face is pretty grotesque.
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 05:13 AM) I can and do deny. Remove Rodon and who takes his place? After Sale and Q, the rotation is very unstable with Danks as #3 and EJ #4 and ? #5. You've taken a potential strength and made it a weakness. You really would give up 6 more years of a 22 year old future stud in Rodon for 2 years of a 3B whom is almost 30 that s*** the bed in the second half of '15? Come on! If you are relying on a regressing Alexei at SS to make the team a winner then why did the Sox let him go? I'm sure they could have re-signed him by now if they wanted him around so why is it they don't want him any more? Because Alexei is regressing and will continue to do so because it comes with age. Removing Rodon, adding Frazier and keeping Alexei around is not the path to contention. Mediocrity is more like it. I give up then if my idea sucks. Cause I see no way we contend with this crummy team we have now. Your post shuts me up. I'm resigned to another s***ty team I guess.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 05:13 AM) It isn't money to spend, Greg. They have to trade for him, and if what they are offering is not sufficient for the Reds, then the trade does not happen We've got some good prospects. This is one trade where we might have to part with a good one. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 05:18 AM) Plus the Sox aren't the only team that's interested which helps to drive the cost in prospects up. Obviously someone didn't see that the Reds asked for Rodon. I don't really want to give up Rodon, but our organization finally has a handful of stud prospects. We might have to give up two good ones. If the Sox are waiting for all the prospects to become major-league ready, fine. But we've been led to believe this is not a rebuilding thing, but trying to win it. To win it ... I think my suggestion should actually make us a contender. Infield: Frazier, Lexi, Lawrie, Abreu. Outfield: Melky (ugh), Trayce, Eaton (Avi as fourth outfielder unless we can dump him) Hopefully sign a name outfielder. Catcher: The two stiffs. Don't like that position. DH: LaLob. Don't like him, but maybe Robin can at least reduce his at bats and have him be buzzkill only four days a week for the 12 mill? Pitcher: Ding. Ding. We have a winner! Great staff. You can't deny my 3 simple moves (Frazier in trade; resign Lexi; sign new outfielder) make the team contenders. The way the team is now?? Last place.
  5. The way I see it if you can afford it you have to send your kid to private schools. For instance I went to Brother Rice two years and Benet Academy two years. Aside from Rice being all boys, what a great place to be. Great great teachers; hard as hell classes. I actually had to take Latin there and learned Latin for gosh sake. If you want to be a doctor ... what better place for Biology, Physics, Algebra, all those classes. One place that might be better? Benet. What a tremendous school. Great teachers; very difficult coursework (until senior year which was easy like most senior year). Both schools stressed COLLEGE and college prep work. Parents have to have their eye on best preparing their kids for college. The best places IMO have to be private schools. Pay that $10,000 a year tuition baby. It's worth it. (Just my take). As far as Vegas talk ... if u are gonna live in Sin City (yes it's Sin City) then at least move to the BEST school district. Give your kids a chance to not fall into oblivion (drug wise and academic wise).

Very intersting about phone battery life. Mine is down to 60 percent with little use today. Once phone battery life starts dipping is it time to get a new phone? Am I hosed since the battery appears to drain faster than it used to?
  7. I keep hearing Cruz has had a master plan and is the frontrunner now. To any Republicos out there ... I have yet to study Cruz. Is he good? Could he beat my nemesis, Hilly? Is he the one who wants to get rid of the IRS? That would be cool. Can Cruz beat Hilly? For those of you who read my rants, is he the type of guy Greg will get excited bout?
  8. Why can't the Sox realize it's time to acquire Frazier to go with Lawrie? We need Frazier and re-sign Lexi for 5 mill a year for 2 years. Or one year and an option. And by all means open the wallet and sign an outfielder. The Cubs just signed Zobrist, Lackey and Heyward to go with all those young guys. Sure their pitching might suck, but that's a possible WS contender. This is competition, baby. There are 2 teams in this city and one is on fire in terms of fan interest and MEDIA drooling. Sox are not going to get fans to show up to watch the defensive dandies Saladino and Sanchez work their magic at ss and 2B. Barring some unforeseen turnaround, the Sox will blow. But you add Frazier and a name outfielder ... kaching at the cash register. Sox fans will sign up cause we got electric pitchers in Sale, Q and potentially some others! What is Hahn waiting for?? Yes it's $$$ to spend, but do they have an option? It's either spend $$$ or look at 15,000 to 25,000 fans a game all season cept when Cubs and Yanquis come to town.
  9. Giants have Shark and Cueto. Can you say RISKY? One guy (Shark) was not hated by Sox fans, but far from loved. He basically was a very unreliable pitcher who had a few great outings but was horses*** many many times. Projecting ahead, how can you be high on the guy? PASS. Cueto? He was so bad at one point, Royals fans were hoping he wouldn't even start in the postseason. Their only hope was that he'd start pitching like his hype at some point. He was great in the decisive game at home; on the road he was a disaster waiting to happen and again, KC fans wanted none of Cueto in the postseason unless the game was in Kauffman. Is that the type of guy you want to pay that kind of cash?? Can you say RISKY? Pass. Good luck, SF. Maybe the NL will be a cure all and they'll be great. But again, both Sox and KC fan bases would shake their heads and say, 'good riddance' to both of em.

  12. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) We have a Christmas themed display. Complete with tree and other symbolic items. Cool. This comes with the Greg seal of approval.
  13. If the Royals don't chill out, so to speak, next season, it's time for all teams to fight with them every single series. They won the gawd damn WS. They're not gonna win it every year, in fact, if they lose Gordon and the starting pitching reeks, they probably will dip right away. So if they make a big deal about Lawrie, we should throw at them, fight them, and so should every other team when they pull Royals-type bulls***. They won the title ... it's time to fricking chill out. If they don't chill out they are insufferable asses. Agreed?
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 02:53 AM) Ask yourself what you would want if you were in his wife's shoes. Multiple people have asked you that and you refuse to answer I'd never be in the wife's shoes cause that would mean I caught my partner cheating and I would leave her for that for positive. Remember she caught him once red handed. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 03:45 AM) Had to join this conversation, it was blowing me away. 1. Greg, why in the WORLD would you be friends with this guy? He's doing terrible things to his wife and kids, and using you as an excuse for this garbage. You need to cut ties with this crap as soon as possible. The wife knows what's going on, the husband knows what's going on, so the kids know something is wrong whether the parents want to see it or not. Tensions are undoubtedly building with the wife, and it has a great chance of blowing up in an emotional, traumatic experience for the kids. Do the kids, wife, and yourself a favor, and cut ties. Tell your friend that as long as he's doing stupid s***, and hurting his family, you won't support that. 2. I get the feeling that Greg is a social experiment based on trolling message boards. 1.) He's doing one terrible thing, that is cheating. he treats her very well otherwise and is a great papa to his kids. As far as your last sentence I told him I recommend he see a psychiatrist and he did and now won't go anymore cause the guy was lousy. Then I recommended he stop cheating altogether. the only thing I haven't done is cut ties with him. I don't feel like I should boot a friend completely over this issue. Like whitewashed said, I've made my feelings known and am not condoning this stuff. Do I have to completely not be friends with the guy anymore? I think that's kind of drastic. 2.) I don't know why I'm a troll just because a.) I have differing opinions from most of you and b.) I'm honest.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) For a guy who loves citing the downfall of modern civilization because of the lack of religion, you sure don't mind overlooking multiple commandments when it suits your narrative I agree with Whitewashed's backing me on this matter. ... What am I supposed to do? Bring him a Bible? It's not me doing it. Should I punch him and tell him to knock off his behavior? Whitewashed seems to get it.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) Greg, you are terrible. All you do is make excuses for s***ty people You see things as cut and dried sometimes. Just because this guy is doing this one lousy thing may not mean he's "s***ty people." Not everything is cut and dried in this world. How come you guys won't believe me when I say he's a good dad to the 2 kids and doesn't ever get violent or anything. Basically he's a good provider/good person who does this heinous thing. I wouldn't cheat but some people do. QUOTE (ypres @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) I get not wanting to tell her and have guilt of breaking up the family, or whatever. But don't you think she has the right to know? She caught him once. It's probably inevitable she catches him again. For me to turn him in, that seems pretty wrong. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 05:04 PM) It may not be your place to tell but you absolutely should stop being friends with him. Birds of a feather greg, birds of a feather. I rarely hang out with him. I haven't cut all ties with him because of his cheating. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) I'd bet your friend made up the problems with the psychiatrist as an excuse not to go anymore. Did he find another psychiatrist? Nope. I don't know why you'd assume that. Some people get pissed off when a professional (psychiatrist) obviously is not doing his/her job, not even retaining any information from a first meeting. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 07:24 PM) I always feel like telling someone it's going on again is much easier than "ruining" the trust in the first place...then it's on her 100% to live with the consequences of staying despite the Near certainty he we will cheat repetitively in the future. This idea that guys can cheat because the girl's super hot and younger and that justifies it more somehow is pretty dubious. Certainly not admirable. Obviously the wife likes him enough to stay after the first cheating incident was uncovered. It's very sad he's cheating. I told him I thought he should get help and he told me the psychiatrist story. I told him he might consider just going cold turkey on the cheating and just turn over a new leaf the rest of his life, in his world telling him he had a good run with multiple women, now it's time to put that all in his past. I don't see why I should tell the wife anything. I mean the guy might even kill me or something if I did that. Stranger things have happened. I don't know why you all would suggest I have to tell her. She already knows he did it once. This guy claims he's a sex addict. He claims he needs the attention of the multiple women. He did say he's much older than the current woman he's cheating with and whenever he leaves her in a restaurant or anywhere he comes back and some guy is hitting on her. In this day and age of people unwilling to get involved I think my behavior in this case is about a 5.5 out of 10 in the advice I've given him, not a 1 or 2 as some of you suggest.
  17. What would it take to get Frazier if we're not including Anderson? Get it done.
  18. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 08:31 AM) I agree with most of this, as the infield stands today, we are looking at another top ten draft pick and another season like the past 9-10. I don't think we are going to sign Cespedes or trade for Fraizer although I completely agree with your logic and the fact it makes sense I just don't think either of these guys happen. I do however bet Hahn has one or two moves left (hopefully) just by reading between the lines of his comments leaving the meetings, it's a work in progress. After the past few seasons it's hard for anyone to legitally give this FO the benefit of the doubt but we should. I trust they are not done. Most of the baseball world loved our moves last season and we face planted. But Hahn and the scouts and FO can only go by what's on paper and track records of players when they all bomb it sucks, and we as fans lose patience and trust in these guys to right the ship. Lastly, don't think the brain trust doesn't see the threat the Cubs bring to the pitiful attendance and TV viewership problem we already have. After the past two off seasons and last season they know the pressure is on them to fix this thing and make us a winning club again. This is not just about staying relative in this city, but we'll have a generation of Cubs fans coming with all the kids watching the Cubs be built into a dynasty if they continue to win and go deep into the playoffs. For the Whitesox to stay relevant in this city we need to WIN! The time is now for them to get this turned in the right direction. Otherwise casual fans are going to start jumping ship. Excellent post. I'll keep the faith we're not done, but to me it's so simple. My moves would only take shipping two good prospects and one OK one to the Reds for Frazier and spend some cashola for Cespedes. I truly think the team would be vastly improved. And who knows? Somebody might be willing to take Melky off our hands in another deal.
  19. Do the Sox have a plan? To me it's so simple. Make the necessary trades to wind up with Frazier at 3rd, Lexi at ss, Lawrie at second and Abreu at first. Is Hahn this dense? That's a winning infield. Then you got Melky in left (ugh, but he could have a better year I suppose), Eaton in center (we all are OK with him) and Cespedes in right (acquire him). Trayce is begging to play which is why we should dump Melky and Avi and sign Cespedes! We have the two nobodys at catcher which is kind of a problem IMO. And we have LaLousy at DH which is a problem. We have GOOD pitching. With these moves I suggest (trade minor leaguers) the Sox would be a team that finishes over .500 and competes for a division title PROBABLY. Without these moves, this team will REEK. Does anybody truly believe the infield of Lawrie at third, Saladino at ss, Sanchez at second and Abreu at first is adequate even?? It's NOT. Then you've got the outfield of Melky, Eaton and Avi which is unacceptable compounded with the DH problem. FIX IT MR. HAHN. It won't take too much.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) So he claims to have a disease, and all he did was go to a doctor two times, make excuses about why he didn't like him, and then decided OH WELL, THE DISEASE WINS? True, but isn't it rotten that the psychiatrist was that inept? Looking at his watch ... not remembering one session from the next. Inexcusable. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) Nice to see good ole Christian values are still around these days. I don't know what that means. It's a rotten situation but it's not my place to tell the wife anything. All I can do is encourage the guy to end his cheating ways and be a good hubby/dad. You've got to remember, a lot of people do cheat. It's not a pretty trait, but a lot of people cheat on their spouses. What do you do if you are not attracted to your wife physically anymore but don't want to break up the family? He gets his sex from the hot chicks he meets at bars and cheats with. I mean what good would it do for me to a.) tell his wife he's still cheating; she knows he cheated the first time or b.) scream at him. It's his life. He makes his own decisions. I'm just a friend.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 04:20 PM) I wonder with nearly every post he makes. Clueless. Cmon. I am not clueless. I am controversial. Most of the players I mentioned reeked. You may have gotten me on Ellis Burks. Bobby Bonds was awful. The team had to get rid of him almost immediately because he was so bad. ... Explain to me why the Dybber isn't thought of much worse than he is. He's our Bartman, the reason we didn't win a WS that year! QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) You guys obviously don't remember players like Ron Blomberg do you? LOL. Especially given the size of the deal Veeck gave him for that time. Mark Great call on Blomberg! He definitely deserves to be on the list.
  22. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) It's a moment I've known would come all my life. Now I can actually see it on the horizon. I could see the Sox moving. But I ALSO could see the team staying. Are Jerry's relatives and the investors going to sell the team when he dies or keep it? In a city as big as Chicago, are there rumors of any local zillionaires wanting to buy and keep the team in Chicago? If the Reinsdorfs and the investors keep the team forever, ugh. I could see it moving or continuing to flounder. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 08:07 PM) This move has not changed the fact that the sox are an afterthought. They have been since 1984. The sox are like the mets of new york. They each would need to win 4 world series in the next decade to not be the afterthoughts. Disagree. Think back to 2005. The White Sox had done it. World Series. The Sox were the toast of the town. The Cubs franchise sucked. Oh yes they were still the Cubs and all the sellouts and the darlings of the baseball world. But they were truly second fiddle. The Sox COMPLETELY and utterly blew it. Almost instantly the team began its downward trend. Now finally the last 3 years the team has sucked. But after 05 the Sox had their chance to be THE team in town for a long time. They only have themselves to blame. I dont know if the Central Division teams went after them, but the Sox have one of the worst organizations in the Central now. Very sad. It can change again, but no question the Sox had it all going in 05 and blew it!
  23. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) I still think Avi is going to be a good ball player. I am in the minority here but I still feel he has all the tools and he has a great work ethic that became evident when he returned after the injury when it was the thought he would be done for the year. I am pulling for the guy. I think he's a bit better than Viciedo, but not much. For whatever reason, he's a mess at the plate. He has some great hits, some great at bats, but overall doesn't seem to have much of a clue up there and I don't see it improving. He almost seems overanxious up there to me. Of course I would be too with pitchers throwing 100 mph and relievers entering in the sixth inning with their assortment of pitches.
  24. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 06:42 PM) There's nothing wrong with being jealous of what the Cubs are building. I'm thrilled because this can only help the White Sox. They've got to get off their ass now that they are being buried by the Cubs. Unless they are planning on moving, they WILL counter this. Nobody wants to be the weak second fiddle. I hope Cespedes can hit cause this probably guarantees us getting him. And Frazier? Complete the deal, White Sox. An infield of Lawrie, Lexi, Frazier and Abreu with Cespedes, Eaton and Melkster in the outfield isn't too shabby.
  25. This is actually good for the White Sox. Jerry and his investors are running a business and the Cubs have totally passed the White Sox (I realize the Cubs have always had more fans/media, etc., but the Sox have been the better franchise for quite some time now until last year and the foreseeable future). Acquiring Lawrie and a pair of journeymen catchers doesn't cut it in the interest department. Sox are going to have to spend some mega bucks and get some players people care about besides Abreu and Sale. Sox are gonna have to start competing for the division title again because Cub mania is here and you better believe the Sox beancounters have noticed. Crowds of 12,000 to 20,000 all year won't be attracting any advertising dollars/media contracts, whatever. Anybody with a buck that's not located on the far South Side will be gripped in Cub mania for years to come. It's counter time, White Sox.
