QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) And yet you'll never find a bigger Mizzou booster than Kim English. Today he's posting stuff about how unless you were a famous athlete at MU you had big time problems. That's an indictment of his school. On a good note, at least that professor Click is going to be stripped of her duties in the journalism school. She isn't a prof in the J School but has some sort of role there.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) You have to balance every negative thing you say about somebody with one positive thing, it is the rules of journalism. You should be fair at least. The man is a brilliant surgeon and by all accounts an outstanding person. Again, the perception by the media is he is a buffoon. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) In matters other than neurosurgery, he seems like Gomer Pyle. Not to me.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) The Greek system at most schools, especially big state schools, is usually segregated anyway. There's a Greek system, and a Black Greek system. It's pretty arcane, but it has always been that way. I've always been in favor of fraternities and sororities. But it is pretty scary to think we have to have separate Greek systems depending on the color of your skin. Wow. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) Peaceful protest with no violence. It's possible! Yeah, it seems only the older adults were acting up at Missouri in that video where the two mean ladies were screaming at the Missouri student media.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) http://mashable.com/2015/11/09/mizzou-camp...k/#qBd3NFOXHGqF She worked at the paper to me. I think it's important that many of the students who are even talking about these experiences will in general terms probably love their experience, school and people they met. The racism at missouri was probably not very different from many other campuses (see Yale where similar stuff is happening), but these smaller incidents add up, or another group will come in asking why this is still happening. If you were to ask me, I would say that Columbia is a very progressive, warm and welcoming place. But these incidents made me look back and think of some awful incidents of black friends or classmates that i could obviously largely forget about, but were probably very affecting of them. But going to Juana's article, the idea that you could be proud and love something that doesn't always quite accept you sounds like the American experience for many. Nice post. I'll tell you one thing. It makes me really sad a person has to go through this kind of stuff in college of all places. Some people are really raised to be pigs/assholes. It does make Mizzou seem to be a true hellhole. Kim English's comments are scary bad as well. Very sad as I mistakenly though this kind of s*** was very rare. I know growing up on the southside there were a ton of racists. When I went to Brother Rice there were a few black athletes and I know the white guys respected them. Never heard any slurs. In college I can honestly say I never heard a racial slur in four years in my fraternity and never heard of any problems on campus. Of course no blacks were in my frat and none went through rush. Literally none. MU must really have some pricks running around that campus. If its just a handful of people they are really giving their college and city a very bad name.

I wish the Journos seeking all the mud on Carson would at least balance the scales and write about his work saving lives as a fricking brain surgeon. The man is brilliant and he's being depicted as Gomer Pyle.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) I'm just part of a Chiefs forum that's no holds barred. Common phrases like that. my mistake that you were offended. Thicken your skin. It's an online message board. Please don't tell us what to do or how to feel. Some of us are offended by words. I myself really don't like to hear or read the word r__e. To me it's a very violent sickening word.

So, Missouri's football team was refusing to practice or play this week's game unless the president resigned or was fired. The president of the school did not react very forcibly to a couple issues of racism on campus (some moron put a swastika in human dung on the wall of a dorm with minorities in it) and five dumbasses yelled the n word at the student body president as they drove by in a truck. So the football team and a group of student protesters won today when the president resigned as did the chancellor. Both are gone in one fell swoop. Football team is back on the field, but the protesters didn't have a good day. A communications prof called for "muscle" to get a student reporter to move off public property, which was caught on tape. The student reporters were trying to take photos of the protesters who were on public property. Free speech and all that. The greek system leader was also making a fool of herself telling the MU student media to turn off their cameras and cease and desist doing their jobs (this at a renowned Journalism school). Also, the protesters when they got what they wanted issued some NEW demands which to me seemed a bit tacky and out of line today. I mean the moment the school officials meet their demands, new demands?? Kind of bullyish IMO. My question to you is ... aren't the protesters at Mizzou on a slippery slope. The school has 7 percent blacks and 93 percent whites I believe I read. At what point does the 93 percent tire of their school being portrayed as unbelievably racist when frankly there haven't been that many incidents. At what point do the protesters calm down a bit and work with the school officials on racism at Mizzou rather than appear to be a bit bully-ish. Or do you think what they're doing is fine? Finally what is your overall opinion of what's going on at Mizzou? Will more sports teams boycott practices and games at other schools? p.s.: I will say this. Most college students are proud of the university they decide to attend. I thought it kind of sad that the Missourian student newspaper ran an article with 15 pictures of individual students all commenting on "how racism has affected me at Missouri." I mean is the University of Missouri a fricking hellhole racist pit of scum?? How can they attract any future students when the student body is completely turning on its own school, saying basically it's a miserable place to be for any minority??? Tough times at Mizzu. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/flor...109-column.html

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 04:16 AM) Among the numerous portraits of himself in his home, this one of Carson with Jesus has to take the cake: This one featuring a giant portrait of himself in his massive home proudly displayed over a stone carving of a line from "poverbs" [sic] about humility is a strong challenger, though: Who cares about the pic? Yes he has an ego. So do all politicos.

LOL I was right. No coverage of the Trump appearance on SNL except I saw two reviews that said the show was boring/awful. I'm very surprised they didn't doctor the overnight rating numbers. Entertainment Weekly said the Trump show had the highest ratings since 2012. His ratings were 47 percent higher than the Hillary/Miley Cyrus episode. I bet Hillary's camp will soon agree to host the show. Kudos to one outlet for reporting the ratings kick/ass whooping by Trump for NBC.

Kendrick, Freese and Cabrera. Kendrick doesn't make a lot of sense since Micah, frankly, on paper can put up those type of offensive numbers. Freese has really pedestrian stats except for on base percentage and Cabrera is nothing special either. Baseball is full of mediocre hitters making a ton of money.

I don't really care if there are fan rumors. Sox aren't trading Sale. Boston will have a shot at him when he's a free agent. If Sale stays healthy obviously Sox won't be able to keep him when time comes. I wish the Sox would do the tinkering necessary to have a dominant starting rotation and middle relief and bullpen. We have too many lefty starters. We don't have 3 reliable bullpen guys which is what you need nowadays. I mean REALLY RELIABLE.

LOL Trump was not funny on SNL ... the reviews coming in. ... Of course he wasn't funny. He's fricking Republican. The liberal media isn't going to say a guy they HATE is funny. http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/donald-tru...iew-1201636027/

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 10:52 PM) NW Burbs. Right next to Schaumburg. Interesting. Any way Br. Rice could lose to Palatine? I don't like Br. Rice's chances in the semifinals vs. HF or Loyola obvously, but I wonder if they can beat Palatine. Today's game ... I'm glad Elgin's coach screwed up. There were about six minutes left and Br. Rice was up six and Elgin had the ball on the Rice 25 or 30. Coach tried a long field goal to try to cut it to three. Elgin clearly had the momentum at that point with Rice fans a bit nervous as Elgin moved the ball. But they missed the field goal. As a Rice fan I felt relieved Elgin merely tried a meaningless field goal rather than gone for it on fourth down fairly deep in Rice territory. If Elgin takes the one-point lead that late, it's probably Rice playing in the Prep Bowl playoffs rather than the real playoffs. Rice's offense was pretty dismal the fourth quarter, but after that dumb move, Rice did pretty much run out the clock. Finally started moving the ball again. My assessment of Br. Rice: Have some good individual players like Smalling the WR and the QB is a good HS quarterback. They have a good running back as well. I forget his name. They've got some good, gutsy kids on defense. However the defense isn't good enough to win state and the offense is darn good for high school, but like the first Loyola game proved, can be stopped in its tracks by elite teams. That said ... congrats to my alma mater and keep on keepin on!!! Let's win, baby. -
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 02:48 AM) Black people will not vote for Ben Carson. And Jason Whitlock would tell you it's because Carson made it big by conventional means (hard work) while not fighting the white man's world. Some African Americans don't like when fellow blacks get educated, lead law abiding lives, become great citizens and "play the game" to succeed. They don't like it at all. It's not me saying it, it's a black journalist named Jason Whitlock. You tell me why they won't vote for Ben besides the reason I gave. It's because he's cooperated with the white world.

This should be interesting. Hillary got a big media coronation and worship session after she appeared on Saturday Night Live. Let's see how the media handles Trump's appearance. I'd say they'll either attack his hair and his looks, saying how he appeared physically or say the skits sucked and he hurt himself by appearing on the silly comedy show. Or they'll merely ignore his appearance if in fact it's good. LOL. Gotta love the media. They worshiped Hillary after her appearance.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 12:27 AM) http://news.yahoo.com/ben-carsons-home-eer...-195358324.html I'd love to believe this will be the end of Carson, Klingon/Worf Jesus with Ben, but will probably have the reverse effect. How can you allow a Biblical inscription with Proverbs spelled incorrectly to not be fixed asap? Tommye 6 minutes ago 2 9 At some point somebody is going to agree with me that this guy is WEIRD (in capital letters). To me it appears that he is his own best fan and is not close to anybody. I am sure he must be wealthy and I am happy for him, but doesn't the Bible say something about it being easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven? It appears that this particular "rich man" has spent a substantial amount paying homage to himself. Everyone has an opinion and this is just mine, but I am leaving Dr. Carson in the same category I put him in yesterday when I was convinced that he and the truth don't seem to be on the same page. Expand Replies (2) Reply The media is rotten. Who cares if he has a shrine to himself in his house? How bout some stories on all the lives he's saved and improved as a surgeon if we want to go into his personal s***. Like all doctors don't have big egos. Again ... let's take this to Hillary as well. Oh wait ... no stories on her personality. Only renegade book writers and Websites can write about Hillary's treatment of people beneath her. Laughing my ass off.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) And now we are comparing people who are gay to White Supremacists and Nazi's? Would you sell cake to black people? How about people with down syndrome or autism? It's the same thing. Read my post. Not what I'm saying. I said the bakers should bake cake's for gay weddings and should not bake cakes for Nazis or White Supremists. Read my post closer.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) And he is using the "I don't really remember the details" route, yet his campaign manager seems to be spinning all of the details. He's about done. He's not about done. The public recognizes the media is after him. As far as lying, let's go after all the candidates as hard as we're going after Ben. They ALL LIE. Sad, but true.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Sorry, I think it is bigoted and wrong that a religion should define a union of marriage that is upheld in a federal law. Youre viewpoint is mean and wrong, greg Yeah I apologize for my stance if it offends. To be clear, I am OK with the legality of a male/male union or female/female union. All the same legal rights you get as if it's man/woman union. And I don't like the fact some bakeries or whatever don't want to make cakes for male/male weddings, etc. That's kind of silly. Just make the f***ing cake. Who cares what it goes for. Although it'd be pretty disgusting to make a Nazi cake or a White Supremists cake. You can see why the bakery owners are balking about this issue. What if the government law made you make a White Supremist cake?? I'd be sickened in the whole process. Some bakery owners want the right to pick and choose who they serve. I also am going against my Catholic religion in saying gays, of course, should be admitted to the church. Although my church quietly is going against Rome as in my church's bylaws it indicates ALL are welcome. Anyhow, I should be ashamed of myself I guess. But it's simple physics to me. A man/man are incapable of biologically having a baby; ditto woman/woman. If a man wants to be with another man for life, fine. But I don't think it should be recognizd as marriage because IMO at least, God didn't design it that way because if he wanted it that way you'd biologically be able to have kids. I don't think I'm a bad person but I just think the one thing gays should give up is the idea of official marriage. It's a partnership not a marriage. Sorry I currently feel this way. If it makes me horrible person, my bad. If you want I can kill this post. I just felt I should be honest.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) I am in complete agreement with you on Mark Buerhle. He can still pitch and would be an A+ guy in the clubhouse and around the other pitchers in particular If we get Buehrle we'll have to somehow get rid of Danks. Way way too many lefties already. I would hate to see Mark get ripped to shreds on this board if his shoulder has fallen apart and he sucks. I only want him if he's as good as this year's Buehrle.

Yoenis Cespedes expected to leave Mets in free agency

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) Maybe they don't like their uniforms smelling like smoke. Supposedly, Cespedes is a chain smoker. He sounds like a true trainwreck. Whatever team signs him will prove they don't care about team chemistry. He appears lazy on the field and if he's a chain smoker, my gawd. -
QUOTE (High Mileage @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) People have been telling me my whole life that the Royals would never be good and would never win anything. I'm glad the Royals declined Rios' option though... Mileage are you a Sox and a Royals fan or just Royals? Why do you post here? Just curious, not trying to run you off. You guys should be good again next year but the loss of Gordon and Zobrist will hurt. And you again need a strong starter now that Cueto is gonna be gone as well. Should be intersting to see who replaces whom. I wouldn't count on Ventura and Zimmer being saviors yet.
