  1. The Royals won the WS and avenged the performance vs. the Giants. So now for next year, if KC was smart, it would just relax and not play like f***ing douchebags in April and May, starting fights, throwing at people, treating every series as Armageddon. If they mop up the lousy Sox, Indians and Twins and split with Detroit they should easily win the division. Again, if they play like the assholes they played like this year, I hope every series results in a fight. That could happen if they continue that ridiculous chip on their shoulder play they had this season. All the celebrating and throwing at people. Sox's only hope of overtaking KC? Major overhaul of bullpen. Fixing 3B, C and adding a real DH for starters. GOOD LUCK WHITE SOX. It sucks not being on top like we were in 05.
  2. To those of you who remember everything Greg says ... does anybody remember my love of Christian Colon and how I've said I WANT the Sox to acquire him? Too late now.
  3. LOL at loudmouth Royals fans on Twitter ripping Yost for leaving Volquez in that half inning after there was some trouble. He only gave up one run and it's 2-0. If you are KC you are still feeling good about beating the NY bullpen eventually tonight. Back to the fans ... why can't they just shut up and enjoy like we did in 05. There was no Ozzie bashing in the game threads, just fans havin' fun.
  4. I'll never understand what the Sox front office had against Granderson. He shoulda been a Sox for a long time now. He'd have been our best leadoff hitter since Rock Raines.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) As usual, don't let facts get in the way of a post He turns 32 in February and is prone to long slumps. He is a great great defender and that alone might leave him useful once he can't hit a lick any more like LaRoche. As far as current production, this year he was hurt a month or more and had 422 plate apeparances with a .271 BA and .377 on base. Good on base obviously. Only 48 RBI and 13 homers. His best possible year scenario is what he did in 2013. he hit .265 with 20 hrs and 81 rbi. Of course his on base was much better but he hasn't hit better than .271 in the last three seasons and he's not a power hitter. He's obviously NOT WORTH the contract he's about to get. He's a .270 hitter who draws walks (which is cool) and is a great defender. He's aging too. You don't think he's a prime example of possibly turning into a LaRoche? BTW, people laughed at me for wanting Grandy a few years ago and Grandy would still have been a useful tool for the Sox the past few years. I wanted Grandy and Torii Hunter and both would have been OK in the Cell compared to what we've put out there. Melky? LOL. Avi? Show me something, Avi. Eaton? Has some potential and has done fine.
  6. QUOTE (High Mileage @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) I like your style! I'd love to see the Sox give Cespedes a massive contract. The Royals have done well against him everywhere he's been. I'm afraid Rios has played well enough late in the season to cause the Royals to pick up his option. One thing about Rios is he usually hits well against his former teams. Which has made me even more mad, cause he's burned the Sox a lot. I think KC will let him walk. He blows and KC knows it.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 02:30 PM) Rios is hitting .289 in the playoffs and hit .368/.368/.529 against the blue Jays. He isn't hitting well in the World Series but his play has been anything but inept. Yes but he's still Rios pulling stunts like last night and loafing off and on in right all season. There's no way in hell the Royals will try to bring him back and that should tell you something AGAIN about Rios. Two walks and an error in the eighth doomed the Mets big time last night. It would be a surprise if they get back to KC. It all boils down to starting pitching again. If it's a close game KC usually finds a way late to win it.
  8. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 05:25 AM) True man. But I don't think blindly believing her to be a saint is any smarter. Seems reasonable to me that she's an uptight entitled b**** who treated staffers etc. like garbage. Not saying it's true, just saying it's for sure very possible. Of the hundreds of millions of people in this country I think it's sad that we don't have actual leaders to choose from, just beneficiaries of nepotism. Sucks. For Tex, this is basically my answer. I believe the MANY reports of how rude she is to staffers and others. I believe her saying "Katy Perry mode" at a serious hearing did happen. Entitled, rude, mean woman. We never see any stories about how great a person Hillary is. The "light" stories about Hillary are the ones about how she is re-inventing herself personality wise. That didn't last long. America seems happy to continue the nepotism thing with its presidents. Trump or Carson would be good for four years just to switch it up. Many of you say Presidents don't do anything anyway. So let Trump entertain us for four years or Big Ben Carson. Trump's kind of a ruthless tool himself, so I'd go with Ben.
  9. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 02:47 AM) Money wins out 99% of the time. You are probably right. I'm just trying to figure out how the Sox are the only team that get hometown discounts. Paulie and Mark Buehlre before the Sox made it clear (foolishly) they didn't want Mark any more. If ever a hometown discount made sense it would be Alex Gordon and the Royals. He's one of those guys who are the face of a franchise like Minoso/Banks/Ripken/Tulo (oh wait Tulo got shipped out). As far as Gordon, two comments. 1.) If he does leave for the highest offer, good for him. He better keep producing cause in KC he'd be a George Brett/Len Dawson figure forever. He'd be shown so much love the next 40 years of his life it'd make his head spin (provided KC wraps up the series). The Royals obviously will not be able to match 25-30 million a year. I bet they'd go as high as 18 million. So I guess you are right. He'd be leaving about 28 million dollars total on the table over four years to sign with KC at 18 versus somebody else for 25. 2.) He's just not that good, folks, not in terms of PROJECTING the future. He'll hit you .260 and get the good on base percentage, but ... he's aging and whoever signs him will definitely regret it if they go 5 years on Gordon. 3.) This is worrying me. Sox are not going to be able to compete for "good" ballplayers in the future because they just make too much money. It's going to be very tough for the Sox to compete considering good young players all are going to be going for 25-30 mill a year for 5 years once they hit free agency.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 02:02 AM) lol maybe Greg's right about how KC can't win a WS with Rios. Thanks for remembering my post. For those who think I'm a troll and never make pertinent comments, see my previous Rios comment. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 02:05 AM) Well, Greg now has his reason to blame Rios for the Royals losing the series now. We saw that enough in 2009 and 2011. You also recognized I was correct about Rios' ineptitude, his continued ineptitude. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 04:42 AM) Craziest stat of the postseason so far. Most runs scored from the 7th inning on. 1. Royals 44 2. Mets 11 Not sure 3-10, but 3rd is probably in single digits. The biggest shock is that it wasn't Addison Reed. Shades of Bill Buckner in reverse with Murphy. Good post. I thought the same about the reverse of Buckner when the ball went under his glove the same way it did with Buckner.
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) I'm still not clear why you think Clinton has nothing to offer. Her experiences as a lawyer, politician, and Secretary of State makes her as qualified as the other candidates. Even if you dislike her views, which is a legitimate reason, saying she has nothing to offer seems shallow. Mainly because of her penchant for lying and her insensitivity toward people and issues. Also all those reports of what a despicable person she is. People blame the messenger rather than consider where there's smoke there's fire.
  12. QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) What are your thoughts on Bill Maher, a guy you praised in another argument in filibuster, calling your boy Ben Carson an idiot? I'm aware that Bill Maher also got shat on by other posters here, I just recall Greg really buttering him up as some highly respectable person so I just wanted to hear Greg's thoughts on it. Why is he an idiot? I've actually had mixed feelings on Maher thru the years. I love religion; he despises it. But I praised Maher for his take on something recently. I can't remember what it is now. Carson is Donald Trump off the steroids. Why not give Carson a chance? I wonder what Maher thinks of Hilly? There's no reason to support Hillary. Just be honest, Bill, and say it's her turn, she deserves it, coronate her, etc. She has nothing to offer this country as President.
  13. I would clean house again. Keep Robertson and that's it. Get rid of all those hacks in the pen. Keep Nate Jones if you must.
  14. Royals are going to try to sign him. You would think the Royals would be able to come close to those other teams. Alex Gordon would be dumb to take 25 million from the Cubs if the Royals are giving him 20 over 4 years. How much money can you spend?? At some point you have to give the Konerko discount when you are old, like Gordon. If KC wraps up this WS title, Gordon will have Brett/Len Dawson status in this town. That means about 35 years of being an icon and making money off your name once you retire. If he leaves KC he's a fool. ... Now if KC blows this Series it's a different story. Fans will be pissed at the whole team and he should take every red cent the Cubs offer.
  15. QUOTE (bear_brian @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 05:43 PM) LaRoche's hand was really sore all of last year, and he will bounce back this year. He's not going to bounce back. He's buzzkill just as Dunn was. Horrible acquistion in LaRoche. At least Dunn smashed a few bombs.
  16. This may sound insensitive, but until Alex Rios plays on a world championship team I might be willing to say I don't think he's capable of that. That throw tonight was laughable. He has been reasonably OK at the plate in the postseason and definitely has not stood out like some total weak link or anything. But like I said ... can Alex Rios play on a WS title team or is his destiny to not have a title cause of his perceived lack of focus/energy?? We shall see.
  17. Ventura is an interesting case. I don't know who to compare him to on the Sox or in Sox history. He's been very inconsistent in this his second season. just didn't have it tonight. Mentally he should have been on top of the world. Staked to a 2-0 lead, no pressure on him. He got lit up by the veteran Grandy and Murphy. Boom. KC goes with the Princeton graduate tomorrow, the smart gritty hurler whose stuff isn't near as good as Ventura. Mets have to be considered favorites.
  18. QUOTE (ron883 @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) So Ken m is one of the best trolls in the history of the internet? Never heard of him until I googled his name. Impressive stuff. Apparently Ken m has been doing it since only 2011. Greg's been trolling for a decade now. He is the most successful troll I have ever personally witnessed on a forum It's called passion. I'm passionate about many topics. Forgive me for caring.
  19. How could anybody work for that management team? Mattingly should have waited for a better job. He'd have gotten one. I guess there are worst things than getting fired one year into a four-year deal.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 02:39 AM) Sounds like cub fans. It's so funny because when they win, they brag about what great fans they are. These fans are brutal. Any loss regular season or postseason and they consider the offending players total bums. It's classic inning by inning game by game. They despise Ventura right now and love Cueto. A few days ago they wanted to run Cueto out of town. They were praising Rios the other day; now they want his head on a platter. Basically KC thought it was over at 2-0 forgetting home field means a lot this time of year. This series is going 7 obviously.
  21. LOL on cue the Royals fans are burying their own on Twitter. Rios is a total bum now and Ventura got buried as well. Yost is getting buried as well for not pinch hitting Morales for Rios, lol. All the Royals fans are true second guessers on Twitter. As long as they are winning they are "the best fans in baseball." Idiot fans.
  22. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) lmao... wow It's funny how during the debate Rubio said we have 11 qualified people on this stage to run the country. I'll have some of that ganja you're smoking, senator. I think Hillary will be so bad she revolutionizes the position of President and we in the future change the duties of president to do-nothing figurehead. Can you imagine her in a crisis? Bill Clinton? Yes. Hillary? Please America, don't reward someone for being an alleged liar and alleged mean, rude person. ... Give me Ben Carson for four years, then vote him out for Michelle Obama. At least she is allegedly very kind.
  23. If the Royals win it the Cueto trade was a runaway success for KC no matter how good those other players get. Like somebody said, flags fly forever and Cueto did just what Moore wanted him to do. Win two huge games (so far) in the postseason.
  24. Olt is a young 27. Are we all OK with letting him start next year and see what we've got? Remember, Gillaspie was a starter for the Sox for a year and change ... Is it Olt time considering those 2 mammoth blasts he hit last September?
  25. Just two seasons ago he had good stats. But last year he must have been hurt with only 182 plate appearances, unless he was benched. If we could dump LaRoche (impossible to do with that contract) I'd be all for paying Morneau the kind of money the Sox paid Keppinger for a year or 2. Give it a shot.
