Well admittedly Greg has been off a bit on predictions. So Chicago Cubs fans are in trouble if this holds. For I see NO WAY the Cubs can lose to the Mets. Cubs are a lock. Why? Well the Mets aren't prime time material No. 1. No. 2? I hate to go there, but this is all for Ernie Banks. The Cubs are wearing 14 on the sleeve this year for Banks. So what happens? Somehow they actually make the playoffs ahead of schedule, beat the Cardinals of all teams and now play the Mets, yes the Mets. The team that made Ernie's life hell as Leo Durocher blamed him for the 69 collapse. the Mets are the team that prevented Ernie from going to the Series. The Cubs were never the same after that. I'm pretty serious about this. Is heaven letting Ernie orchestrate this postseason?? It sure as hell seems that way. Cubs are a lock to play Toronto in the series. Does this mean KC and New York are assured the WS? We shall see but Greg has given his honest analysis and I've been off my predictive game a bit of late.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 04:49 AM) Stopping for 1 second is a complete stop also. But it's risky with our ticket happy cops here in Ks. 3 seconds is a winner.

I have a question. With the high cost of health care, what happens if you are diagnosed with a terminal disease and you have no insurance and no money? Does the medical system have the right to kill you? Refuse to provide you meds and treatment? Isn't that involuntary manslaughter? Secondly ... if you have a terminal disease, no insurance and no savings, can you deny treatment to avoid going into debt for your survivors? In effect you'd be killing yourself and I thought suicide was illegal. Hmmm...

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 02:03 AM) Why are you stopping and counting to 3 every time? Just stop...and then go...You dont have to sit there for 3 seconds. Three seconds is a complete stop. I'm amazed at how 'nobody' comes to a complete stop but me now in this town. It's pretty insane. I just wish the cop was honest with me. "I could let you off, bub, but it's the end of the month, start of a new month and you know what I'm talking about."

I know this board has decided that managers really don't matter at all. And I know a couple posters think I post about the Cubs too much. But I have a question for Robin lovers. ... Do you think if he managed the Cubs this year they'd have been lucky to be .500? I think so. Why? The lack of urgency of his teams. It's always early in Robin-land and White Sox land. There's always the chance the team will get red hot and steal a WC berth. I truly think he couldn't have gotten this young Cub team much above .500 if even above .500. Conversely do you think Maddon could have gotten us a WC? I happen to say yes. We have a GREAT pitching staff and a few good hitters. Call me a moron but I think we have a mediocre to lousy manager and the Cubs unfortunately have a good one as do the Indians. BRING BACK GARDY baby. South SIDE Gardy.

QUOTE (AlSoxfan @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 12:59 AM) MARK BUEHRLE DENIES RETIREMENT TALK The veteran pitcher, who was left off the Blue Jays' active roster for the playoffs thus far, said he hasn't made a decision to call it quits at age 36, despite reports to the contrary at the end of the regular season. Those reports at the end of the season were very appalling. I know the media sucks but those "sources" that said he was finished obviously made it up. Or the guy who broke the story made it up and everybody else pretended their UNNAMED sources backed it up. Very lazy reporting. He must have a tired arm or something. I cant see why Toronto wouldn't want a veteran WS winner on the postseason roster. Very weird. He had a pretty fine season BTW. Mark must have confessed he's toast for this October. Why have the lazy media not done a story on Mark's take on this stuff??

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) Saw this on MLB Network last night. Poor kid...looks like Jason Vargas's. I hope the child is OK. That kid went down for the count it looked like on the video.

ALCS- Kansas City Royals vs Toronto Blue Jays
greg775 replied to Jose Abreu's topic in The Diamond Club
Toronto bats figure to bash the Royals. If the Dodgers win they should maul the Cubs. Sorry KC fans, the best teams are going to prevail and Toronto is just a better hitting team than KC and KC's pitching has reeked pretty much. Cubs aren't ready for prime time. They are hot admittedly. Toronto-LAD World Series will have low ratings. -
Thanks to Little Hurt for recognizing I did pick the right score 7-2. Cueto did exactly what the Royals wanted him to do - win a huge playoff game. Too bad for KC his positioning in the rotation won't be optimal in the ALCS. KC is gonna have to win with Volquez/Duffy in Game One cause Volquez is a 4-5 inning pitcher now.

White Sox peripherally make news for Cub Hating
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Let's face it. Cub mania is about to explode. The Sox and we Sox fans have a chance to prove our loyalty cause the Sox are gonna be second citizens for a long, long time now that the Cubs have Maddon and are young and playoff bound for years to come. They also as a large market team have the money to spend, spend spend to keep bringing in name players to go with the kids and we as a small market team don't have the $$$s to try to right the wrongs of LaRoche and Melky. I realize we've always been second citizens as Sox fans to a certain extent, but this is different. The media has changed a ton since 2005 and our team is now buried in oblivion. Any media coverage our team gets will be secondary. Again, that's probably good cause the Sox are gonna HAVE to get off their asses and escape this flirting with .500 bulls***. It's time to field a consistent winning team SOON or get no attention and see attendance stick to about 15,000 to 18000 a game IMO. -
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) The big reason for this is that they are not finding the jobs that they WANT. There are plenty of jobs out there. The problem is that when kids are in high school everybody says you need to go to college. How many jobs do these young people think are out there for somebody with a political science degree or an art degree? If you graduate college in a strong field the jobs are there. Interesting post. I have no knowledge so I can't comment. Your comment intrigues me. Are young people really majoring in art and Poly Sci? I mean cmon. Badger might tell us ... are there tons of jobs for young lawyers? What about nurses and doctors? Anybody know? What about architecture and engineering and geology? The article I read said 22-29 year old grads couldn't find work and the over 50s, forgetaboutit. Companies want to keep salaries down, hence are undervaluing the 30-49 crowd.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) I think that claim is pretty delusional. A majority of Democrats, at least as of now, support Clinton as the nominee. That doesn't mean they want to "coronate" her. I've been blabbering about my hatred for Hillary forever on here and yet no Democrat has actually told me why they like her? No obvious support for her positions (what positions, queen of flip flop), no obvious defense of my attacks on her mean-ness, no nothing. It's as if they are saying, "Hey I want Hillary, OK???" I think my claim is accurate. It's Hillary's turn and as Kate McKinnon said on SNL, "LET ME LEAD!"
-
Yankees would be a good spot for him and go back to their former ways of overpaying for average to below average players/pitchers.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) liberal Democrats are more likely to support Sanders than Clinton. I probably worded that wrong. You can't deny an huge majority of Democrats want to "coronate" Hillary cause she's put in her time during her lifetime and "deserves" the honor. Problem is ... didn't equally brazen Bob Dole "deserve" the honor? He didn't get a sniff.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) You better just lock yourself up in your home and close all the blinds and curtains. The outside world is obviously way too dangerous of a place for you. How do you explain what I just witnessed/experienced?

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) Sanders and O'Malley both did help their campaigns but with the lead Hillary has as long as she doesn't go out and lay an egg she's done well. I don't agree with the notion of many news outlets that she easily won the debate. I personally think Sanders did. It's insane. Of course Hillary won (to the liberal Democrats dying to get her coronated for 8 years). Now anybody with a brain will tell you she was a.) dull. b.) said nothing. c.) come across as elitist. Bernie baby won the fricking debate! LOL at the homers in the media dying to put a crown on Hilly's head like that lapdog Chris Matthews.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 08:41 PM) Bernie just comes across like a regular joe schmo. I think that will start to resonate with people more as the election goes on. The guy should be our next president and if congress pull their shenanigans, I hope the people for once in their goddamn lives do something positive (i.e. booting the sorry asshats from office) for the sake of our country. This isn't about free s*** being given out, it's about the US being allegedly once of the greatest countries on the planet. People shouldn't be in poverty when this place has more money than god. When I was younger, my dad asked me what I would expect from politicians. I replied, "A good job, clean water, and a stable roof over my head." That is not too much to ask for. Noone is b****ing about rich f***ers having yachts or big houses, they just want to be able to live comfortably and enjoy their f***ing lives. Am I f***ing crazy here? No. You are not. I was reading today that college grads from 22 to 29 are having the hardest time finding jobs as well as people over 50. The American dream is dead. See, the youngsters can't get on with their lives (NO JOBS). The oldsters can't cap their careers, instead they get laid off and their nesteggs evaporate (NO JOBS). Criminal!!! Give me Bernie or Trump to fix this! Or try to fix this. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 09:11 PM) So, does CNN get paid by Clinton? Holy crapola, their home page has been a love fest for her all day long. I mean, she did well, but I honestly think O'Malley and maybe Sanders did more positive for themselves than she did. It's all part of the plan. The media comes through for the Obamas and Hillarys of the world when they need to: saying who won debates and the days right before election day. They will be "critical" at times when it doesn't matter, like with 2 years to go in the regimes. But when it's time to come through for the Democrats, oh boy, the liberal media will come through for you!

Now I've seen everything. I was just driving and actually approached that same intersection. So I'm getting ready to stop and another guy in another car at the 4 way stop starts waving me through BEFORE I even stopped. So I had to finish pulling up to the stop sign, stopping, counting 3 seconds then driving through all after he waved me through. He looked PISSED. So folks, Americans basically do not make complete stops at stop lights and I got hosed. I mean I'd venture to say 60 percent of people sort of stop, 40 percent "might" come to complete stops. I laughed as the guy waved me through knowing I still had a LOT of driving work to do before I could procede.

Dodgers will maul Cubs. Cubs might beat Mets.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) It wasn't stupid. It was a calculated attempt to hide correspondence from the American public. Clinton may be a lot of things, but she isn't stupid. She didn't want stuff getting used against her that was in the public domain. Exactly. People, if you like Hilly fine, but she is by all accounts a very mean person, very elitist person who wants the election because it's her turn. The Saturday Night Live impression of her is very accurate. "Let me lead!"
-
Any predictions? I say Stros 7, Royals 2. Cueto is the addition that didn't pan out.
-
Folks, this actually might be a blessing (for the long term). Hear me out. The Cubs we all know aren't quite ready to win it all. They will get KILLED by the Dodgers. Anyhow, if somehow the Cubs make the WS they will lose to the Astros. OK, people will be BITTERLY disappointed. They'll be talking curses again and jinxes and the point is they'll be bummed out. They shouldn't be, as they are winning AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. My point is, this year's flameout when it comes could turn the Cubs into a Detroit Tigers or Minnesota Vikings. Maybe all these Cubs teams that are gonna be making the playoffs under Theo/Maddon will fail each October. This year should be considered gravy right now, but I sense Cub fans are smelling WS title!! It's too early for them for that. Could set them up to be a Vikings/Tigers, close but always losing in postseason.

Please, everyone admit Bernie Sanders is one, helluva man! What he said about Clinton's email controversy was the greatest moment in any election in history! Bernie Baby, no matter what happens, you now will go down in infamy as CLASS. If Bernie beats Trump, fine! Bernie baby for President! p.s.: I just read the reviews. Clinton the slam dunk winner. LOL. The media is so predictable. My gosh the media ONLY wants a democratic president and they want Hillary badly. I don't get it sometimes. The media realizes that if their candidate is to win, they need to give 'em that life by proclaiming them runaway winners of debates. And they are fawning over Hillary. Did she really say much of anything interesting??

QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 01:01 AM) And you nicely offered an opportunity by breaking the law. But lost in all this, I do agree if anyone deserved a break, it was you. But you didn't get one. And for the $140 we were able to forget the crappy baseball season and discuss your ticket. I think the city and soxtalk.com won. Sorry, but you lost. For some reason that made me laugh. I'm glad I have some money saved (knock on wood). My second pet peeve hit today. So I get a bill for 120 bucks for my eye doctor. I have one eye exam the last 3 years, yes my prescription changes, and apparently my work's insurance company isn't paying. This country is f***ed up, folks. If it's not Blue Cross, it's a s*** company. I mean WTF. I'm supposed to get one free eye checkup per year. Obviously the insurance company rejected the eye doctor's fee if I got this bill. I am sick about America. I would say working as an insurance company claimsperson now is probably the worst white collar job in America. I just know those people are under pressure to REJECT parts or all parts of claims. What a joke. You can't even get an eye exam on there in a three-year span. What if I had glaucoma? I guess I'd have to pay for that as well.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) I wonder where we come up with the money for a big signing. Reading between the lines of what Hahn has already said, I think they already know they are taking a big hit at the box office over what was expected, and aren't going to have the money for splash. I am hoping for more of a 2005 surgical strike with some targeted signings. I wonder if they care at all about the Cubs taking over the city? maybe that doesn't matter at all. If they do ... I'd suspect they gotta make some huge moves!
