  1. Dodgers will maul Cubs. Cubs might beat Mets.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) It wasn't stupid. It was a calculated attempt to hide correspondence from the American public. Clinton may be a lot of things, but she isn't stupid. She didn't want stuff getting used against her that was in the public domain. Exactly. People, if you like Hilly fine, but she is by all accounts a very mean person, very elitist person who wants the election because it's her turn. The Saturday Night Live impression of her is very accurate. "Let me lead!"
  3. Any predictions? I say Stros 7, Royals 2. Cueto is the addition that didn't pan out.
  4. Folks, this actually might be a blessing (for the long term). Hear me out. The Cubs we all know aren't quite ready to win it all. They will get KILLED by the Dodgers. Anyhow, if somehow the Cubs make the WS they will lose to the Astros. OK, people will be BITTERLY disappointed. They'll be talking curses again and jinxes and the point is they'll be bummed out. They shouldn't be, as they are winning AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. My point is, this year's flameout when it comes could turn the Cubs into a Detroit Tigers or Minnesota Vikings. Maybe all these Cubs teams that are gonna be making the playoffs under Theo/Maddon will fail each October. This year should be considered gravy right now, but I sense Cub fans are smelling WS title!! It's too early for them for that. Could set them up to be a Vikings/Tigers, close but always losing in postseason.
  5. Please, everyone admit Bernie Sanders is one, helluva man! What he said about Clinton's email controversy was the greatest moment in any election in history! Bernie Baby, no matter what happens, you now will go down in infamy as CLASS. If Bernie beats Trump, fine! Bernie baby for President! p.s.: I just read the reviews. Clinton the slam dunk winner. LOL. The media is so predictable. My gosh the media ONLY wants a democratic president and they want Hillary badly. I don't get it sometimes. The media realizes that if their candidate is to win, they need to give 'em that life by proclaiming them runaway winners of debates. And they are fawning over Hillary. Did she really say much of anything interesting??
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 01:01 AM) And you nicely offered an opportunity by breaking the law. But lost in all this, I do agree if anyone deserved a break, it was you. But you didn't get one. And for the $140 we were able to forget the crappy baseball season and discuss your ticket. I think the city and soxtalk.com won. Sorry, but you lost. For some reason that made me laugh. I'm glad I have some money saved (knock on wood). My second pet peeve hit today. So I get a bill for 120 bucks for my eye doctor. I have one eye exam the last 3 years, yes my prescription changes, and apparently my work's insurance company isn't paying. This country is f***ed up, folks. If it's not Blue Cross, it's a s*** company. I mean WTF. I'm supposed to get one free eye checkup per year. Obviously the insurance company rejected the eye doctor's fee if I got this bill. I am sick about America. I would say working as an insurance company claimsperson now is probably the worst white collar job in America. I just know those people are under pressure to REJECT parts or all parts of claims. What a joke. You can't even get an eye exam on there in a three-year span. What if I had glaucoma? I guess I'd have to pay for that as well.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) I wonder where we come up with the money for a big signing. Reading between the lines of what Hahn has already said, I think they already know they are taking a big hit at the box office over what was expected, and aren't going to have the money for splash. I am hoping for more of a 2005 surgical strike with some targeted signings. I wonder if they care at all about the Cubs taking over the city? maybe that doesn't matter at all. If they do ... I'd suspect they gotta make some huge moves!
  8. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) You keep saying 1 AM. Everyone knows that is the WORST time to break a law. A cop is going to pull you over 100% of the time he sees ou breaking a law then. Once he does its a toss up to whether or not you get a ticket. You're clearly in the wrong. Quit whining and pay the ticket. I paid it within 24 hours of the time I got it. I am not an anarchist or somebody who wants to get thrown in jail. I just feel it's lousy a guy who supports building them a new police station and has few tickets throughout history can't get a break on a stop sign violation for gosh sakes. it's almost laughable how polite I was getting nailed for that when I stopped but didn't completely stop.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 04:04 PM) On the bright side, they are qualified to run Social Security. This may be the wrong thread, but along with all the murders in our country (at least according to me; you guys say crime is dramatically down and you don't all seem to stressed about crime), the next embarrassment and potential disaster (old people dying in the streets homeless) is Social Security. I was just reading yesterday how the people in Switzerland I believe it was or Norway have it made in retirement. They get WAY more benefits than we do and they have some deal where they have this big nestegg to retire on. In America a lot of older people (I mean a ton) are still living paycheck to paycheck or two, basically with no nestegg. Now with medical costs so high one illness can put you in debt as fast as a Chris Sale fastball, we're talking about TONS of Baby Boomers having no money for housing, food, clothing, transportation when they "retire." And nobody's hiring anybody over 50 except for fast food jobs so we are looking at a BIG PROBLEM! As much as I love Trump, the rich Republicans don't give a s*** about the little guy who is gonna retire and be broke. At least the Hillary-ites always want bigger government. My point to you is ... how are we gonna avoid the disgusting, sad, un-American Dream aspect of all these paycheck to paycheck people retiring with no money to LIVE??? I am anxious to hear your response.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 07:27 PM) Sickening part is the crap i have to hear from cubs fans on a daily basis about how its a lock they will win the world series. Very sad. And once you get the little kids into Bryant, and all those other young guys et. all, you are building total Cub mania for the future. Sox have their work cut out. The good news is competition is "good" and the Sox are gonna have to do something this offseason. Think of how the Cubs will sell every possible advance ticket for next season. Sox must react and will. Jerry's gonna have to spend more than he ever has on this team.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Well, after the WC game last year....not unlike the White Sox the final week of 2005....they just put it into cruise control. The situation here with a do or die game following the high of yesterday is a bit different. Cueto wasn't very good for the Royals, and Ventura has been off this year compared to last postseason when he was the rock of the rotation as Shields faltered. Madson isn't Davis in the 8th, either. Duffy's not even assured of being the 4th starter in a seven game series. It's easy to say the Royals have everything in their favor, but a loss wouldn't be shocking either. Yogi or Hawk once said, "Momentum is the next game's starting pitcher." Cueto blows (but will make 20 mill a year for 5-6 years like Shark, lol at baseball owners) so get your money back and bet heavily on the Stros.
  12. I'm not in Chicago, so tell me what it's like. Is it total Cub fever? Or are Sox fans helping keep down the craziness? Last night's game had all those home runs and chicks love the long ball, so what is it? Cub mania or just normal playoff atmosphere? Anything sickening?
  13. A few comments. ... • Down by four runs, the Royals were dead, I thought. KC fans on Twitter were all over Yost and Rios. • I will give Rios credit. He got the first of the six singles (one was not a single but error at ss but it took a funny hop on the certain DP). • Hosmer goes from s*** to stroking a key single then a huge HR for insurance? Pretty impressive. • Royals overcome the weird call at 3B on Gore? Impressive. I will say this. The Royals' comeback proves most fans complaints are just people blabbering at the mouth. All the Royals critics when the team was down four runs. One guy wrote Ned should be fired for not having a sense of urgency the last month. One guy was incensed that Ned was playing Rios. Many were mad at Rios. Some were furious about the Cueto trade, saying thanks Dayton, Cueto did nothing and now the Royals are out several young players. Blah blah blah ... it's like Al Davis said, "Just Win Baby." And when Roy Williams was at kansas he said: "The best/only way to shut everybody up is to win. Win and people have to shut their frickin mouths."
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 01:49 AM) I have never noticed that either. Maybe it's just that this is the first time you've stopped at a stop sign and are noticing what happens when cars decelerate? I've been making a point to look at the other drivers since our roads have a lotta stop signs and I'm tellin u, they appear flustered n miffed that I'm stopping completely. As far as the other posts, remember I am admitting guilt. I am guilty. I just figured at 1 a.m. with a nice record of no tickets the past year or two I'd deserve a little warning. I'm sort of accusing the cop of wanting to raise $140 for city coffers and get a pat on the back for obtaining such money for the city, cause I think that's true.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 08:06 PM) MLB with some really questionable calls from NyC this postseason...calling out Gore wasn't nearly as bad as the Tejada situation, but still not clear and convincing. Agreed. Houston's lift and pull style of hitting makes me long for the old days of the White Sox.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) In the end, the White Sox are going to be facing a highly-motivated, desperate to get back to the post-season Royals team next year. The Royals need to settle down. If they remain this emotional powerderkeg it will do them no good. Personally Sox need to man up and just start beating them. Sox's starting rotation is so much better than KC's. Royals bullpen now blows. Their window has closed with Gordon gone and Zobrist gone. They gawn. Now can the Sox beat them head to head? Probly not.
  17. LOL Rios gets a hit when it's meaningless. Meet Mr. Alex Rios.
  18. LOL at Houston's infield looking like a swamp today to slow down KC.
  19. Royals down 3-2. Baseball is a marathon and Royals didn't realize it in April and May acting like buffoons. KC's pitching staff is totally spent. Hosmer has been a black hole. Rios is so bad it's laughable. We all know about Rios. The mojo left KC in September and they've had a horrible ALDS. Bye bye KC. Say what you want about Ozzie. The one time we got in the playoffs we fricking went all the way. We didn't waste our appearance.
  20. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) Not supposed to argue and you should be polite. It's was you that broke the law, not the cop. It was you that made the cop do the job he is paid to do so just accept responsibility for your actions. It's only a misdemeanor and won't go on your record as long as you have no prior moving violations and don't get caught doing it again. Think about it Greg,is it really that difficult to just stop at a stop sign? Like I said, it's kind of scary because 90 percent of people don't come to a complete stop. I was just out and about and again, people appeared mad at me for taking so long at the stop signs. Somebody coming up right behind you is scary cause they appear to be very close to banging into the bumper.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) But the fact that he's been bankrupt 3-4 times (used the system to his advantage) and still has the money he does is testament to someone who knows how to negotiate...therefore, logically, putting himself in a tremendous position to bully Assad, Putin and the latest Kim in N. Korea. He probably believes that on some level even. What we have now isn't working. I'd give Trump/Carson ticket a chance. Like I said if it doesn't work, at least it's entertaining. Hillary just isn't a likeable people person. She comes across as very elitist. Give the newbies at shot at ruining everything.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 05:39 PM) Royals have the best combined record in the AL since the beginning of 2013. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/04/magazine...pable.html?_r=0 In other news, Maddon and Yost aren't that different after all. Caulfield ... have you faced facts that KC is toast? I have to laugh at the Royals players. they were so stupid they came out in April pissing off most all the teams they faced the first month and a half. By acting like idiots after getting hits and fighting people who had the audacity to throw at them. They were treating April and May like it was important. I'm not saying they ran out of gas, but after having their way much of the season, they definitely became human. I know I know all those games they won. But they had a mediocre September, finally getting hot the last week and a half. But their starters blow chunks. Their bullpen is not automatic anymore. More importantly the clutch hitting is gone right now. 0-12 with runners in scoring position vs. Houston. Caulfield ... they are done.
  23. Hey I texted my obsessed Royals friend today when Hosmer weakly tapped out with runners on first and second and two out in the sixth and KC down 1-0. I said, "I'm sad for you, but that's probably the game." The magic isn't there this year. Call it the "curse of Rios." KC doesn't have "it" this year. the bullpen isn't as good with Holland gonzo. Moose and Hosmer are hitting like .100 and .200 for the playoff series so far. Cain crushed that home run to go up 1-0 and I thought KC just needs to get through this series playing poorly and maybe ultimately find themselves again. They are all outta sorts. I'll tell you one thing. BET THE HOUSE. Ventura will be awful today. He's not gonna suddenly turn into an Ace Ventura and mow down Houston. That's not in the cards, at least this season. Poor KC. They needed to pull an Ozzie last year when they had a chance and win it all in their one trip to the WS like we did. The magic is gone in KC. Rios was an awful addition; they should be playing one of their speedsters in right. Gordon should be leading off. LOL at Ned and the Royals. They.Are.Done.
  24. I truly hate to always be a dick and can't wait for the Sox to be good again, but LaRoche is not gonna hit 17 home runs. That ship has sailed. I predict he'll hit .213 with 7 home runs and 32 RBI. Ugh.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) 2012 disqualified Herman Cain from being someone with much credibility as far as I'm concerned. You guys slay me. So you wouldn't listen to Cain's interview? QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 12:59 AM) Donald Trump has bankrupted more companies than anyone else in the race combined, I suppose that makes him the most qualified. Is he not successful? The things coming out of his mouth seem OK to me.
