Great move by Viciedo. He might hit 50 home runs over there. He's not a MLB caliber player. Horrible on defense. Uncoachable on offense. Tries to hit HR on every pitch; never walks. Bye bye.
-
Just another body. But that's OK as he replaces Soto and Sox are banking on Flowers really emerging this season. 34 hits last year in 178 at bats. Boy, that is bad.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 02:55 PM) Sorry, but as a white Christian male you're not allowed to be offended or feel persecuted by anything. Great point. You are sitting in a library and basically in danger. That should be filed as a hate crime and file a federal lawsuit. I bet the kids in the library never thought of that.

Do high school kids choke? How could Bro Rice blow that 17 point lead late in the third quarter vs. Palatine. Now Rice has to contend with a rejuvenated St. Laurence, while Marist is always good now and St. Rita probably isn't going anywhere. That had to be humbling for Bro Rice. They'd have won the game had it been played on Pulaski. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) Kansas is the one who needs to go since they can't win in it. But yeah please mix up the teams. Get UNC, Louisville someone. North Carolina wouldn't sign up the first time because the coach didn't want to play Kansas. It should be Duke, Kansas, UNC and Kentucky. Or another one could be Indiana, UCLA, Duke and Kentucky. But UCLA is too volatile; some years they plain suck. And Indiana has had years of crap since Kelvin. You are pretty sure, Duke, KU, MSU and Kentucky are at least going to be top 15 every year so it's a good field.
-
They should just come up with a plan of action and do the opposite. Don't forget they completely erred at the trade deadline, thinking they were in the race and standing pat. It has to be tough, though. All they have is good starting pitching. And if you trade that, then suddenly you are weak there. Either way they are hosed. Stand pat and add a couple bodies and you might hit .500 if everybody clicks. Trade away a lot of the pitching and all of a sudden you have a 105-loss team. Good luck to Sox decision makers.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) Greg, the formal reason we don't negotiate with terrorists is that once they find out violence works, they will just keep doing it to get what they want. It wil never end. Colleges have been giving in to the f***ing crybabies on campuses for years now so they feel emboldened to 'demand' whatever their feelz tell them to. SOmeone needs to tell them to STFU and get back to class. And if they don't go to class, you fail them and/or expel them. That Mizzou Prez should have rescinded every scholarship of any player that refused to play. At some point the adults have to be in charge. I don't feel sorry for the university staff, they brought all this upon themselves. Now the liberals in charge know what it is like to be at the end of a SJW witchhunt. Have fun with that. Hard to believe, but the Missouri protesters are tweeting that the media should be covering "terrorism" on their campus as much as the situation in France. Just proves more and more these mass death incidents aren't even considered out of the ordinary anymore. How dare those students tweet that their deal is more important than 120 people being killed in France.
-
Does anybody else think the Missouri protest group could be a little less aggressive? Their list of "demands" is sort of obnoxious. Why use the word "demands?" Why be so pushy? I'd venture to say most of the students are Missouri at NOT racist. But if these troublemaker students keep it up (like at Dartmouth) I can imagine at some point people are going to rebel against them. Go up to the wrong person in a library and get in his face and tell him to declare his white privilege and you might get a knuckle sandwich from Bruno the lineman.
-
I wish when these incidents happen we would all put ourselves in the shoes of the innocent victims to recognize the true horror and how something must be done to stop this s***. You are enjoying a concert on a Friday in France and boom, the doors fling open and assholes with guns start shooting. It is pure terror. You are at a soccer game on a Friday and you hear BOOM outside the arena. Suicide bomber kills himself. Luckily he didn't make it into the stadium with the bomb attached to him. He had a ticket. He'd have killed himself in the stands causing a sure panic as well as many deaths. This is HORROR. And somebody in a restaurant in France killing people, as many as he can. HORROR. I just sense a lot of people don't even care about this stuff. It's an "oh well" attitude. I can pray for the victims and the victims families and I can only hope I'm never sitting somewhere when the maniacs invade with their weapons to kill me.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 12:30 AM) I simply refuse to believe that Greg really believes the stuff he writes GOAT troll Trump said the MU leaders were weak. They were weak. Not many are telling it like it is. The protestors at Missouri had two incidents they cited as reasons for causing all the protests/demands. Some rednecks in a truck allegedly yelled the N word at the same guy who LIED about the KKK being on campus. Hmmm...did this incident really happen? The second incident was a swastika of human dung was on a wall in a dorm. There are no pix of the swastika in this era of phone cameras. Hmmmm. Even if those incidents happened ... my gawd there are 30,000 students on campus. There will ALWAYS be some morons. For instance some college student from Palatine felt compelled to go on Twitter to blast Brother Rice kids for blowing today's playoff game and mock them. That person is a Moron. They are out there. There was no reason for the president and chancellor to quit over those 2 incidents. So why am I a troll for backing Trump's stance? He happens to be right IMO. Many people think I'm a troll because I've backed my favorite players against all haters in threads for YEARS. These players include Danks, Dye, Ozzie (player/manager), Konerko, AJP, Buehrle, Garland, Dwyane Wise and others. My stances on these guys had people calling me a troll. I was just passionately LOYAL. Also I get called a troll for my posts on politics/issues. I never said I was perfect. I just despise Hillary. And I despise these horrible incidents in our country and others (France). I can't take it when madmen invade our movie theatres for gawd sakes and kill us!!! I may be an idiot (to some) but I am not a troll.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) You're seriously talking about trading two or three of Sale, Quintana, Rodon, or Danks so the Sox can bring back a shadow of a starter that is Mark Buehrle? Buehrle actually was great the first half last year and not that bad the second half. I still think Toronto should have had him on the postseason roster. As far as your comment, the board seems to think Danks is not very good and yes I'd trade Q or Rodon for some power if there is any power left in baseball in the non steroid era. I'd prefer two lefties and 3 righties in rotation but I'd be OK with 3 lefties and two righties. Our system seems to be deep in starting pitching. Why is it always all lefthanded?

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) A recent Dartmouth alum provides this summary of events on campus yesterday based on reports from one of her closest friends still on campus: My friend is texting me about a Black Lives Matter protest that happened at Dartmouth last night. Apparently it started as a standard march and chant across campus and devolved into black students screaming at individuals in the library and calling them out by name for not protesting. It’s finals period so the library is packed with people trying to study, and some of the protesters screamed at people they knew who were doing work and demanded to know why they weren’t protesting. One kid sang a song in the library (when the protest was still “peaceful”) and people clapped when he was done. Then a girl in the protest said “F*** you, white people. You can clap for us but you aren’t f***ing standing up here with us. F*** you.” Other protesters said that anyone not protesting is a racist and called one girl “rich white human filth.” Some people who were trying to study ran out of the library crying after protesters swarmed their tables and screamed in their faces. One kid joined the protest just because he was scared. They screamed at two girls on [one of the college teams] (both of whom I know and love) for being in the library–meanwhile BOTH girls had participated in the protest earlier and left to study. Another protester said “you are all murdering us in the streets f*** all of you f*** your white privilege and comfort.” Can you even believe this? And then we have this slightly more sanitized version from the Dartmouth’s account: The demonstrators then went from First-Floor Berry up through Fourth-Floor Berry [library], then to Novack and Collis. Some students who were at the library at the time said they felt uncomfortable with the disruption caused by the protest. Some of the demonstrators called out specific students who were studying for not standing up and joining the protest or not wearing black. One student said at one point he was concerned over the possibility of violence, while another said that he called Safety and Security because he was annoyed by the disruption. Diakanwa said that while he saw “a lot of passion and emotions from both sides,” he did not think the situation would ever escalate to violence. If it did, he said, the appropriate authorities would have been contacted to maintain and control the situation. A member of the Class of 2017 who requested anonymity for fear of being targeted said that he did not want to be near the protest, but walked through the crowd of demonstrators when they were on First-Floor Berry in order to check out books. He said that after bumping into a demonstrator, she called him a “racist, privileged a–hole,” and as he was leaving another student told him to “go to hell” because he was not wearing black. Sam Kater ’17 was in Novack at the time of the protest. Kater said that he saw the demonstrating students come down the stairs and enter the study space, chanting “If we can’t study, you can’t study.” This particular Black Lives Matter crowd has done us a service officially adopting the black shirt and accompanying black duds as its official uniform. Morons. Life on campus in OBAMA's America So which account is true? Very sad story of the two women who actually took part in the rally then left to study and they still take grief. I'll say this. Putting myself in their shoes, If I were a student in the library studying, it would pain me but I'd pick up and leave and go study somewhere else. But a lot of this stuff would start to piss me off. For instance, I would not want to have to take a required course in diversity just to submit to one of the demands of minorites. Sorry. I'm at college studying my ass off, working my ass off, having a social life when I can squeeze it in ... I don't want to have to take some course (for no credit I assume) on anything much less diversity when I am NOT a racist. and there's not a racist bone in my body. Now if it can count toward my major as an elective, OK. The other thing that would bother me and may ultimately lead to violence is this white privilege stuff. Keep saying that to white people, making us admit to white privilege, that will not end well. I mean how the hell do they know the people they are talking to admit their white privilege hasn't had a rough life??? That's prejudice in itself. I know one guy when I went to college whose mom left the family, his dad was a deadbeat, and he had jobs since he was 14 basically supporting himself in Wichita. How dare they talk to him about his privilege. And he turned himself into a success by hard hard work, not his family privilege. HE HAD NONE and happened to be white. Anyhow that's how I see it putting myself in the shoes of the white students in the library. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. p.s. would you admit to white privilege (if u are white) if these groups of protester types told you to? I would be upset by that. That's what some of their demands are, admitting to this privilege. f*** that. Not a bad story here on a guy offended by white privilege talk but recognizing the argument is worth debating. http://occupywallstreet.net/story/explaini...ke-white-person

It would be silly for the White Sox to rebuild

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) I see no reason we can't be competitive again by 2017 with the right moves made, it's not like we were as bad as the Phillies this year. A full rebuild means punting on the next 4-5 seasons with no guarantee we'll be any better off, no thanks. The threat of the Royals is way overstated, they're losing a lot this offseason, their starting pitching still sucks, and Holland is hurt all of next year. For some reason all teams in the Central have flaws, but ours seem to cost us from even flnishing .500. I don't get it much. Right now our weaknesses are defense, team speed, middle relief and setup relief, power hitting, on base percentage. Strenghts: Starting pitching, maybe the closer. Chances are a year of familiarity for Melky and LaRoche and Duke won't change these weaknesses. -
glad to see Trump rip the Missouri president and chancellor for being weak and succumbing to a flawed protest.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 03:18 AM) I went to Subway a few months ago and got stuck behind 4 landscaper guys. I'm kind of weird in this way, but I'm not a "line guy." I usually drive by and peer in and see if there's more than one person in a Subway or Goodcents line. If there's 2 people I don't go in. It's just fast food, albeit damn delicious, and I'll think of another option. As far more on tipping, when I was in charge of my golf course concession stand as a high school junior and senior (stand was between green No. 9 and tee No. 10) i put out a tip jar. I'll say this, I made a lot of tips especially on Saturday and Sundays when the course was packed from 7 a.m. til dark, and that money went toward college expenses. Yes as I said before I was privileged in that my dad paid for my college room, board and books. I tried to at least make my own dough for beer, car maintenance, fuel, etc. Normally whatever somebody ordered, most people would put a quarter or two in my tip bowl, hardly ever a real paper bill, but some change. I would leave about a buck in the jar at all times so as to encourage people to put some coins in it. I'd dump my cash behind the counter where nobody could see it. Anyhow, a few assholes would comment on me having a tip jar and insult me. I thought that was special, jeezus. Somebody would say, "Begging for money?" I always responded if some f*** criticized me. I would tell them, "Actually it's money going toward my college expenses and you'd be surprised how it adds up." NORMALLY they would say politely, "I was just kidding and they'd put in a coin or two." To keep my sanity, under my counter I had a notepad and I would count the percentage of people who b****ed about cost of a hotdog, coffee, pop, candy. And the people who b****ed that our cheap owner didn't have any ice available for us to put in the soft drinks. I will say the pop machine blasted out COLD pop, but I can see why somebody would want ice. I faced the brunt of it, the people b****ing. It helped me keep my sanity by having my notepad and checklist about the percentage of people who b****ed. I agree with the poster who said everybody should have a job as a kid dealing with people. It really teaches you to be polite. All the assholes who said, "GIMME a hot dog" or "GIMME a beer" acting as if I was a peon ... it taught me to be nice to those who wait on me. Invaluable lesson. AND WE GOT TO GOLF FOR FREE at any time believe it or not. That was AWESOME. That made it tolerable.

It's like we are on different planets. KC radio is all over Missouri's letting an activist get away with this. I wouldn't be surprised if the millionaire on the hunger strike was getting fed on the sly. Nobody was watching. I admit I was fooled at first. I thought, "Wow the MU football team is boycotting so a concerned kid won't die." Now it turns out he's a troublemaker and the student president is making up s***. When are Missouri students going to reclaim their university and show some pride and fight back against these troublemakers. Our talk radio is all about this and saying Missouri got played by professional protestor types. Like I said the kid on the hunger strike is an activist and is RICH.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) If Rice minimizes their mistakes on offense, does not out coach themselves and takes advantage of their talent, they should win and have a date at home with Loyola in the semis. I am not sure if you are noticing but a couple of upsets and you could see Marist and Rice in 8A finals. Decent chance you see Marist and Loyola. Wow. I did not notice. Is the Rice game on BrotherRiceTV again? -

Anybody going to Kentucky/Duke, Kansas/Michigan State on Tuesday? I may be coming in for the games if anybody wants to meet me in person for Sox chat in the U. Center. Hey has anybody used Uber for transportation to and from games? I know cabs sometimes don't want to go to the U. Center.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) Since it came out this am that Butler's family is unfathomably rich, do you think he'll write a handwritten letter acknowledging his privilege? Well, heard some horrifying facts about Butler today. One of our talk shows devoted the whole show to how Missouri got played for fools. This Butler guy is not only rich, but he's a renowned activist. He goes around trying to stir up s*** and he succeeded at Mizzou. The football team thought a student was dying on a hunger strike. It turned out to be activist Butler, 26 year old spoiled rich kid Butler. WOW. MU's president and chancellor quit over some punk stirring up trouble because that's what he does. All anybody had to do was google Butler's name and MU would still have a president/chancellor. WOW.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) I'm not thrilled with the democratic candidates but I still subscribe to a least harm voting policy. The democratic years have really killed our economy. Learned today health care at our company costs rise 35 f***ing percent for individuals and 50 percent for dependents. This country is screwed. If you are lucky enough to get a job that pays anything halfway noteable, good luck keeping a nickle because of health care costs. We're in sorry shape economically folks. No jobs available that pay anything, candidates talking about making people work til they are 72, give me a break!!!

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 06:49 AM) I never knew how awful people were about tipping until I became friends with a waitress at a restaurant I go to a lot. I couldn't believe what she would tell me about her tips. Maybe it's because I grew up upper middle class with my dad paying for my college and me always having enough money to keep my wallet full (knock on wood and thanks mom and dad) but I've never understood why many people are "cheap." If you are cheap, tell us about it. How cheap are you? Has your significant other called you on it ever? I've always tipped excessively and been so polite to people who wait on the public. It stems from when I worked as a kid at a concession stand and cooked hot dogs and sold beer, pop, candy, chips and heard all the public's unwarranted, unfounded complaints. Made so mad I told myself I'd never be a rude customer. One time, one asshole who came into my concession stand at the golf course every Sunday and b****ed about the prices and how my hot dogs weren't hot enough (at f***ing 7 a.m. when I just opened the store) left his wallet. I put the wallet under my counter. We didn't have a phone up there in my stand on the 9th hole and I couldn't leave it. So about 3 hours later this asshole comes driving up with the golf course owner and says, "I left my wallet up here and I bet you found it." I said, "Yes I did, here it is." The bastard counted his money and said, "It's all here," and left without even thanking me much less giving me a tip. The public can be ASSHOLES. Be kind to your server. Tip tip tip!!! Life is too short to be cheap. Spend your money, don't hoard your money.

Forgive my love of Bro Rice, but can we beat Palatine and move on? Or will Rice be pummeled? -
I'd be all for trading 2-3 of our lefties and bringing Mark back. Or like I said make Danks a lefty reliever. Teams with four lefty starters DO NOT win pennants.
