  1. Kentucky will win next year's NCAA title going away. It won't even be close this time. If UK survives its nonconference slate unscathed it may pull a Wichita State and go undefeated til tourney time. Calipari better hope his team drops one early cause the undefeated thing is an albatross.
  2. So regarding the draft is the order Embiid, Wiggins, Parker; Wiggins, Embiid, Parker; or Embiid, Parker Wiggins? Personally I would take Wiggins No. 1, Parker 2 and Embiid 3. First of all, Embiid is too big a risk. Everybody says he's the next Olajuwon. I say he simply hasn't played much basketball yet and easily could regress now that he's playing against the BIG men of the NBA. Wiggins should be No. 1 because he was ordained the next great thing so he might as well fulfill his draft destiny to be No. 1. Parker should be No. 2 cause he's better than Embiid. Comments?
  3. Can the Hawks beat the Kings in the finals next year to get to the Cup? Are the Blues going to knock out the Hawks early next year?
  4. Amazing how the Royals' patience is paying off. Or their cheapness. Maybe they didn't want to pay Yost and his replacement, but suddenly KC looks like the class of this division. 10 wins in last 14 games with the bats waking up and the rotation looking very good.
  5. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 04:15 AM) yea, my nephew is the bat boy, says hes probably the hardest working player on the team, does tons of hitting in the cage and great guy. hes awful though lol If he's that great a guy might as well keep him. I really don't think this team is going anywhere so might as well let a stellar guy make some money.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 02:54 AM) The over/under is 8. You are predicting 8 or 9 runs, yet you say to bet the under. Way to hedge your bets. Oops I'd say take KC and the over then cause I sense a 7-2 type win.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 03:06 AM) People like Hahn because he talks a good game. His results have been ordinary so far. L. Garcia is a flop. He can't play big league baseball. Looks like Davidson may be a flop. Hahn will forever get a pass on A. Garcia if injuries prevent him from stardom. Some people on this board questioned his power even before the injury. I admit I liked Garcia. The Abreu acquisition of course is huge. Keppinger was one of the worst signings ever. Downs acquisition was bad. And of course picking up Paulino and actually paying him guaranteed money was such a bad decision it's beyond belief. Getting Eaton looks like a nice pickup. Hahn seems OK, but Marty is definitely entitled to that opinion IMO. Let's see what he can get back for Beckham, Viciedo and DeAza. Those will be his next moves to be judged upon, though understandably DeAza may only bring a Class A stiff. Can he steal any good prospects for the other two guys?
  8. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 08:27 PM) ...he said it explicitly. Twice. How can he not be removed from office? You can't condone killing others.
  9. I know a lot of you hate my lock bets but if you guys get the game in on Sunday (big time storms here that usually move your way) it's a lock for the KC sweep. The pitching matchup is way in favor of the Royals. Their bats have awakened and unless Dunn and Abreu go deep a couple times we're getting swept IMO. Shields vs. Rienzo is not good. I'll say 7-1 or 7-2. Royals. Bet the under. Bet the Royals. Accept your cash 2.5 hours after first pitch.
  10. A lot of you deserve credit. I remember when he was over .300 for so long a lot of you insisted his peripheral stats sucked and he'd be dropping soon. I recall being hopeful that under our new hitting coach he now was a big leaguer for the next 10 seasons. Shows a lot of you are very smart regarding peripheral stats. I was fooled again. I thought Tyler had figured it out. He is one of the worst hitters right now I've ever seen. He is absolutely pathetic and should be sent down if he has any options left.
  11. As far as I'm concerned, this signing shouldn't make anybody mad. Who cares about minor league players? If this guy can somehow find himself and hit .320 in the minors the next month, the Sox give him a shot. I mean the outfield is a huge weakness for the Sox right now both offensively and defensively, though I like Eaton. Viciedo and Sierra are jokes and DeAza long ago jumped the shark. He's awful.
  12. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 10:20 PM) I really hope they can trade Viciedo, just don't see what he does for this team He's got to go. It's just not meant to be. He's a power hitter with a handful of home runs and a lousy defender.
  13. Today's loss was disgraceful. 9-1, what a joke.
  14. How do Sox draw on Sundays? 24000 tomorrow?
  15. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 10:11 PM) Cuba signings are free agent signings. Then I bet we see some of those.
  16. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 08:52 PM) Sox need to hit the free agent signings hard to bring talent into the organization. They don't seem interested in that. I could see more Cuba signings however. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 09:01 PM) People who wanted Webb you got him. Sox do not win games like the Royals have against Sox last 2 days. The Royals have been horses*** all year prior to this 10-4 stretch. We stand no chance against THIS Royals team. Forget tomorrow. Shields 3 hitter.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) I can't believe we play this shifty right when I get to go to a couple games. Is there any chance we win tomorrow It doesn't look good right now.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 09:27 PM) Needless to say, the catcher of the future isn't currently in the organization. It was easy to root for Flowers. Seems like a nice guy, but it's embarrassing now. He should be DFA'ed or sent down.
  19. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 02:43 PM) Another assignment for Coop: Henry Rodriguez on his way to a minor-league affiliate. Walked five in 1 2/3 for the Marlins on Thursday. signed by the Sox on Friday. He's walked 20 in his last 22 innings of MLB pitching. Best of luck, Coop and Richard Dotson. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/...eague-contract/ Whatever the Sox do, don't bring him up until you solve the control thing. One or two games of walking 3 guys in a row and he'll be released. Get the problem solved then give him a look.
  20. The Sox talent evaluators do need some help though. Flowers and L. Garcia appear to not be big leaguers and Beckham was a bust for that slot he was selected. Also our minor league outfielders that were supposed to be amazing and were picked high stink as well. What's more, Viciedo appears to be blah at best. All I ask is more efficient talent evaluation!
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 08:34 PM) And speed. And pretty much everything else So is soxtalk saying Eaton is a bust in the making? That's not good cause it seems like he's been penciled in as Sox future CF.
  22. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) Joey Gathright with slightly more pop is about the best I can do off the top of my head. Joey Gathright was a speedster who couldn't get a hit to save his life. What about my Damon comparison?
  23. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) For as mediocre as Noesi was today, let's not forget he should have escaped this inning with 0 runs allowed, and about 30 more pitches on his arm. This inning is all on Luery and Alexei. That is true. Noesi's defense sent him to the shower early. L. Garcia is really an embarrassment. He's the new Keppinger. Time for the organization to admit a mistake there and dump him. I guess Flowers is the same way. I'd rather see him sent down for six weeks and give him one final chance but I wouldn't be against releasing him either.
  24. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 08:20 PM) Aaron Rowand was a .273 career hitter, not a .250 hitter. And with us, he was closer to around .285. Rowand also hit 20+ HR in a year multiple times, and could crush the ball. Eaton will never do that, he is a slap hitter mostly. Rowand was a righty, Eaton a lefty. Eaton has tons of speed, Rowand had average speed. There are far more differences with those two guys than similarities. Eaton would be closer to a Scott Podsednik with much better fielding and less base stealing ability. We really don't have anyone from our recent past to compare Eaton to. I guess I screwed up the comparison. I don't see Eaton hitting better than .273 or 20 homers so ... ouch.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) Still a ton of changes to be made before this team can compete. That's fine. I've said it many times, if Robin can get this talent to play .500 ball all year he's manager of the year.
