    Hillary

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) All cable news is biased and opinionated now. Flip on Fox, you'll get the other way. There just is no news channel that is in the middle anymore. I don't know how Limbaugh can live with himself never questioning a buffoon Republican and how Matthews can worship Hillary that way. I guess it's like me loving Ozzie. They can't help themselves.
  2. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 03:05 AM) I was at this game in the K Zone. Awesome, awesome, awesome. I sat right next to the bullpen and Abreu launched that bomb like 10 feet away from me. Later on some guy got nailed in the face with a ball from the bullpen. Damn, did it break his nose/face? Blood? That's scary.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 03:50 PM) Do you feel that Stephen Strasburg is an ace? The real question is now "Is Verlander an ace?" The answer is "Of course not." I know people get mad at my talk radio host type absolutes but I will say this as an absolute: Any team that signs a pitcher to a long-term deal is foolish. In fact, all owners should FORBID their GMs for signing guys more than 3 year deals. Look at Verlander's deal. Let's say he keeps this up. It will be SUCH a waste of money. Pitcher's today get hurt; pitchers not named Buehrle today are not durable for the most part. Long term deals are ridiculous for pitchers.
  4. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 01:45 AM) I see no reason Ausmus should be in trouble for that joke. It was a fricking joke. Yes a stupid one, but he said "I'm just kidding" immediately. I mean it was instant. He shouldn't have gone there, but geezus, lighten up America. Or just acknowledge it was a bad joke and move on.
  5. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 01:22 AM) Well I'm very glad to hear that they have figured it out financially for themselves. I'm not sure why you or I as fans really care about that, but whatever. Aren't you a tad more interested in the product on the field, though? Wouldn't you like to see the team make it to the playoffs more than once every seven or eight years? Because that's all we've gotten during the last 34 years, and that's why there's only a bandwagon fan base (and not even a very good one at that!), and why the park is more than half empty every single day. But hey - they "HAVE figured it out financially at least" so who am I to complain! Great thread. I wish we could have a frontoffice do-over back to 2005. Upon winning that title, the Sox should have had been able to ride that momentum to consistent greatness. I bet KW would have made some badass tinkering moves had he known what ridiculously dismal years would follow the greatest sports moment of all Sox fans' lives.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 12:26 AM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 58m Cool postgame moment: Ozzie Guillen giving Robin Ventura a high five and a hug in the hall outside the #WhiteSox clubhouse. I tell u. Ozzie certainly has been humbled by all this. I bet if he gets a job in baseball again he'll finally shut up with the media. Everybody knows he's a great baseball mind. If he gets a second chance, my bet is he tones down the ego. As far as today's win ... with all the advanced stats out there, I wonder if anybody can tell us if the Sox will be .500 all year and be able to contend if Abreu continues to put up MVP numbers and Sale continues to wreak havoc on hitters? In other words, does the presence of two MVPs assure a team will not totally suck? I'm guessing Abreu's numbers alone and Sale's may be enough historically to keep a team at least around the .500 level. Has any team ever completely sucked (99 loss type team) WITH arguably the best hitter and best pitcher in the league on its roster? DeAza with 3 hits?? Nice. Also nice to see the Sox not completely fall off the ledge after the Royals debacle. The team continues to surprise (me) with its resiliency. Those of you that have believed all along like el rockin I guess deserve free beer.

    Hillary

Geez, MSNBC's Chris Matthews is in love with Hillary. What a paid commercial his Hardball show was tonight. What is the deal with these announcers? Republicans: Devil. Democrats: Saintly. WTF?
  8. Nice bounce back win at home. Always good to see Viciedo connect. Makes you hope he's still got some potential.
  9. Why wait? Induct Popovich in the Hall of Fame now. Duncan too.
  10. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 12:59 AM) 7 runs given up by verlander today wow lol Detroit's front office has to be scared to death at that contract. From my untrained eye, he's not throwing hard and he's throwing meat up there quite often. So we add Verlander to the list of a guy signed to a contract and the team almost immediately regretting it? My god, baseball owners are so dumb to pay these long term deals. Doesn't Verlander make something like 24 million a year?
  11. Why did Stoney broadcast the 9th inning?
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 03:41 PM) This post was made during the transition from Saturday to Sunday, given that it was 12:05 AM CST. Greg was wasted and decided it was best for the world of Soxtalk to know at that time that he believed Kentucky was going to win it all (likely hearing it from some Kentucky fan either driving through town or a Kentucky friend who absolutely despises KU). He is forgiven. For the record, I will not be betting on Kentucky. Thanks it was written poorly but I wasn't drunk. I think UK is a lock to win the 2015 national title though.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 04:34 AM) Exactly what our sputtering offense needs. Oops. Sox are in last place in the division. This is not good. The team got one over .500 but never could get red-hot and actually be the surprise team of baseball. Let's hope this is not the plummet toward a top 3 draft pick again. I'm afraid with our iffy starting pitching past the third starter and some lousy everyday players to go with a few stars, we're in deep s*** as far as the standings. It's be nice to see Sale, Lexi and Abreu all make the all-star game at least. And Gillaspie make the ballot for that extra guy on the all star roster if he stays over .320.

    Iraq

Militants executing people in Iraq. Can you imagine the horror if that was you and your loved ones? They lay you down on the ground and you know bullets are going to come barreling into your body killing you? f***ing assholes. May they burn forever for their mass killings. I'm so sick of brutal murders. Do you think Obama will intervene to stop these bastards? http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/15/world/meast/....html?hpt=hp_t1
  15. That's why I questioned Sale as an ace, because of what Kalapse said about longevity.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 07:19 AM) Would you bet your house (double your money) on them to overtake the Tigers? Remember, they simply have beaten the last last-place White Sox (and haven't faced Sale/Danks) and Indians and a so-so Yankees' team (although that's a breakthrough of sorts anytime they can take a series from NY). They are 0-6 vs. Detroit so this series is crucial for them. It's true KC plays fairly lousy at home. But I would say if KC splits this series with Detroit or takes 3 of 4, yes it's Royals time and they finally make the playoffs.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 04:19 AM) It's really only when you say "bet your house on it" that it happens. I think if you guys put me to the test on teams I know something about I would win you some cold, hard cash if you followed my advice on such wagers.
  18. Matt Davidson this season at Charlotte 218 at bats .183 batting average, .256 on base percentage. He does have 20 walks to 83 strikeouts. He's hit 10 home runs and nine doubles. So out of his 40 hits, 19 are homers or doubles. Am I to assume he's a classic power hitter? He's trying to jack it out every time up? Maybe he's mad he didn't start the year with the big club. Anybody know anything about his personality? He's not tearing it up.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 03:06 AM) Bet your house on it. You guys won't point out whenever I'm right and I'm too polite to mention it. But since you blast me I'll mention I got the parlay right today: Royals and the over. When somebody told me the over was eight I said bet the over and the Royals because the game screamed 7-2 or 8-1.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 02:42 AM) Beckham has been a bust for 4 years now and he's viewed by some as part of the future still. Obviously, in his last 50-100 at-bats, he's looked terrible. He needs to hit 20+ homers per season to be valuable. He's going to get the remainder of this year, regardless of how he's doing now. Unless you want to play Taylor/Danks/Sierra/Tuiasasopo with DeAza and Eaton. I'm just tired of Viciedo even more than DeAza. Viciedo really has a horrible approach at the plate and is a very easy out for any pitcher with half of a clue. I wouldn't be against Flowers playing the rest of the year since the batboy said he was such a great guy. It might be interesting to see if he ends up with more K's than Dunn had in Dunn's worst season as a Sox. Beckham .286, 4 HRs and 15 RBI. Blah. He's trending downward as well right now. Still can't see Sox admitting a mistake as he was the 8th overall pick in the draft. Anybody know any names of guys Sox coulda had instead of Beckham that year? Anybody hit it big?
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) Viciedo and Flowers are just on ridiculously bad streaks. Neither of them deserve to be back next year. Viciedo is a huge huge bust. Let him try and get it together for another team. Flowers is a AAA catcher, a lifer on the AAA level.
  22. He's 0 for 4 and 4 for his last 50. Home run?
  23. What a jerk. That fan isn't sharing his umbrella with his daughter.
  24. Holland is unhittable this season again. KC has a real shot to reach the WS this year unfortunately. They got defense and pitching and now they are hitting.
  25. Hopefully you guys dont get the rain storms we had. Softball sized hail.
