Strike three is coming; slight chance of a walk.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 03:09 AM) I bet De Aza is so stupid that he is going to be swinging for a HR here. He's comically stupid. He's a very lousy baseball player/hitter.
-
Lousy at bat by Dayan. I don't care if we got the run. s***ty at bat. 4-6-3.
-
Time to take one for the team and go to left field, Adam.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 02:52 AM) GB could of bunted it back to the pitcher and Hawk would of praised him. GB does no wrong. Yeah, and it's not like that was a difficult play for a third baseman used to playing smashes at the hot corner. Sox could have used that run ... damn.
-
I kind of disagree with Hawk there in praising Beckham. Yes he hit it pretty hard. But ... it was right at the third baseman where you don't want to hit it in that situation. I mean, hit a fly ball or go to right field.

I'm starting to like Obama more following some of his recent comments about these shootings. If he keeps this up, I will be a huge Obama fan. His today: "Our levels of gun violence are off the charts. There's no advanced, developed country on Earth that would put up with this," he said. He said there will be no changes til the public pressures Congress. Until those government assholes are willing to pass legislation re. violence in the USA we're stuck with it and everybody just prays that their relatives will not be the ones killed. Oops I said 'prays' which I know will offend many.

Adam really stands no chance against a top pitcher like Verlander. He knows how to get him to chase with 2 strikes. Verlander actually looks hittable again.

Garfein: Sox could trade Beckham for pitching
greg775 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We've discussed this before but trading Beckham is a weird proposition cause of his status as a top draft pick. It does affect the mindset of the Sox even though he's pretty much stunk (with the exception of hot stretches and this season). I agree with the poster who said we should deal him to some team that needs a second baseman and actually try to acquire 2-3 solid to good prospects, at least somebody as good on paper as A. Garcia. -
I tell you one certainty: Nobody will be taking less money just to play with Carmelo. They might defer it if possible or something but NO WAY any of those guys takes less money - meaning LeBron, Wade, Bosh or Melo. Now does anybody know a way they can get Melo and everybody keep their riches? Is deferring a possibility or ? I'll tell you a team that needs to circumvent money and add some pieces is the Thunder. Just adding Reggie Jackson and Adams won't cut it. They need some help but I am assuming they don't have the money. Frankly I think the Spurs will win the West again next year. Duncan still can play and their other old guys are still good enough to beat the Thunder cause of the way the Spurs pass the f***ing ball and hit open shots.

Garfein: Sox could trade Beckham for pitching

Beckham has had a few multi hit games finally and is over .300 isn't he? Since we have replacements ready, might as well trade him for pitching. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 09:36 PM) Sorry, not enough people died, not newsworthy I haven't even gotten around to reading why this killer did what he/she did. Probably some self absorbed asshole deciding to make a name for himself/herself.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) Actually, sorry to correct you, but this is a daily occurrence that occurs multiple times per day. And once again, the country is STILL less violent today than it was 5, 10, 20, and 25 years ago, so whether you like it or not, progress has been made. You've now shown, MULTIPLE times in these threads that you subscribe to the, "If a tree falls in a forest and I didn't see it, hear it or read about it, it didn't fall" mentality. Your position on the country being less violent and more safe isn't shared by Our President judging from his quotes yesterday. Hopefully you and yours will be safe the rest of your lives. I'm sure you are confident you won't be shot randomly (there was some kook on I-70 near KC blasting random people away not so long ago) or injured by some madman. Good luck to you. I on the other hand am terrified some moron will kill me in a movie theatre in our UNSAFE world.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) in the casinos, they call it "doing the 775" How come you guys never point out my winners?

Shocked by today's result. Heat got schooled. Very surprised LeBron stunk in home game tonight. My guess is now the Heat barely wins the next game to tie it at 2. Then it's up for grabs. Chalmers is killing Miami as dumb as that sounds cause Cole isn't the answer.

Send DeAza down or release him and give Danks his final shot.

Obama finally speaks today to Tumblr users. ... Obama asked about school shootings said ... “My biggest frustration so far is the fact that this society has not been willing to take some basic steps to keep guns out of the hands of people who can do just unbelievable damage,” Obama said. “We’re the only developed country where this happens…It happens once a week. And it’s a one-day story.” The president said he is astonished that the Sandy Hook shooting a year and a half ago did not result in a change in gun laws. (A bill to strengthen background checks failed in the Senate last year.) “I have been in Washington for a while now and most things don’t surprise me. The fact that 20 6-year-olds were gunned down in the most violent fashion possible, and this town couldn’t do anything about it was stunning to me,” Obama said, referring to Washington, D.C. He added: “The country has to do some soul searching about this.” -- Yay! I approve of his statements!

This Putin guy is rather unlikeable, just like Rodman's buddy. Those 2 guys are dangerous, I'm tellin' you.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 07:23 PM) We have to argue about the topic of gun control for a very long time. I do not currently have a long tooth. I wish we'd either a.) ban guns completely for a year and see what happens or b.) begin arming ourselves so we get on with it and we all are armed when we go to the local coffee shop, mall, church or school. We probably will need to put gun racks on the desks at school so they won't go off on their own but yet are still at arm's length if we need to pull them out and shoot when the inevitable psycho enters the classroom shooting.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 02:29 PM) I'll vote for her because I feel bad for her. Must have been tough after they left the White House having to pay for all of those mortgageS on the houseS they owned. And Chelsea's education at Stanford, Oxford and Columbia. Poor, poor Hillary. That Presidential pension of $200k a year just wasn't enough. I didn't like that interview with Sawyer. Of course Sawyer had to "apologize" right after, saying Hillary does a lot of speaking for free. Shut up, Diane. Just do your piece, don't suck up at the end!!! She'll be the first president to win in a long time who is "unlikeable" on TV and in interviews. I guess you could argue the Bushes were unlikeable, but not really. They were pretty fiesty and just watching them speak didn't make you want to turn the channel immediately, at least not me. I can't take more than a minute of Hillary talk.

Back to the original topic. Another shooting today...So now it's a weekly occurrence. At this rate, these horrific incidents truly will start eliciting yawns and no coverage edicts from the national media. So sad Obama is in charge right now of a horribly violent country in which people are killing each other left and right so to speak. "Any time. Any place" is the new motto for murder in America. Schools pretty much are known for shootings as much as education. Soon as we get one of these sprees in a sports stadium that isn't called "soccer" and the face of sports will change forever. How can Obama be so silent when we're getting at least one of these incidents a week now??? http://news.yahoo.com/police-gunman-kills-...-170534882.html

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 04:34 AM) Not stupid at all, this is incredibly kind and thoughtful of you. Thanks, Quin. I truly was starting to second guess my move in this regard.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 03:28 AM) Balanced budget, created 22 million jobs, and got laid lots. I wonder if he cheated more than once. ... This is not meant to be sexist. Those who know my stance know I'm not a Hillary fan. As a Hillary-hater, hater meant in a non mean way, more the new vernacular of the word 'hater,' I wonder if she could just win the election and let Bill run the country. Kind of like the way Coop makes the decisions on the Sox concerning pitching. Hillary might be OK as president if she'd secretly let Bill do everything.

I sent the Seattle hero a gift off their Target wedding registry. A 50 buck coffee maker. Since I couldn't buy him a cup of coffee in thanks for his heroism, I sent the coffee maker. Now I am having second thoughts that I may have done something stupid/improper. Hope they accept my gift. There was no opportunity to leave a card.
