  1. The Cubs do know how to pitch our hitters. No doubt about it. I wonder if Theo has great advance scouts. Whiff.
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 7, 2014 -> 03:12 AM) Sierra is a damn stud!! Your post should read ... "Sierra is a damn stud (today)!!"
  3. Our hitting sucks of late. Can't put anything together. It's time, now that Sierra has doubled. CLUTCH HITS SOMEBODY!!!
  4. Who is this Putnam guy? Where did we get him? Is he a true prospect or a journeyman? He seems pretty good to me.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2014 -> 03:01 AM) You don't waste your challenge unless it is a slam dunk, otherwise you could screw your team later. It is common sense. That was a big one, though. We still had the lead halfway thru the game. He was definitely out. Show everybody you fricking care to take 2 of 2 in Wrigley.
  6. Bad play by Beckham. Bad decision by Robin to not dispute that play at second. He was out.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 5, 2014 -> 11:26 PM) I think it is tough for families to swing that these days. The other thing that has been mentioned is the three hour game has to stop being the norm. More waks and K's these days too which means its three hours full of no action. Every damn pitch is treated like life and death by the hitter/pitcher, Get it and throw it. I'm convinced that is what a large portion of Buehrle's success can be attributed to. Not calling the strike at the letters is disgraceful, but the umps just won't do it. You are right, though. Every pitch is life and death and after the starter is replaced, it REALLY gets serious. Pitcher after pitcher. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 6, 2014 -> 01:31 AM) 3 hour game would be great, but isn't the average Sox game now up to 3:17 or something this year (as of a few days ago), with a handful of 4+ hour games? It's today's day and age with how people treat their time and money. The "value" people get out of 5-6 hours between driving and watching the game, the expense of parking the car, tickets, then all the food on top of it...just not worth the value/time to a lot of people anymore. Comparing it to a movie - movie is 2 hours and it doesn't cost anything to park, and you could more easily get away with no food. Anyway, the answer is to make it less time and provide more value. Eliminate the dead time. This is going to become a bigger focus with MLB over the next few years, I believe. That's really a great post. Baseball doesn't care, though. Sox execs should read your post though. It's all true. You really have to be an idiot to be willing to go to an event where parking costs that much, yet we do it. BTW, I remember going to tons of games as a college student back home for summers and cost never even entered my mind. My part time jobs had me set to go to ballgames and tons of 'em. Now? Ha. No college kid can afford the experience (including multiple beers) unless mommy and daddy are rich. You are right about movies, too. Unless you are on a date or something, you easily can go without anything to eat/drink at a 2 hour movie especially if you sneak in one bottle of water.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 6, 2014 -> 08:40 PM) If Adam Dunn resigned, what would you do? If he resigned I'd be happy. If he re-signed I'd still be a Sox fan of course. I just don't like what he brings to the table.
  9. With Sale's mechanics, how in the hell would anybody sign him to one of those astronomical contracts? Let's face it, none of this is good news. Not blaming anybody, just saying Sale is not somebody I'm counting on to be a reliable member of the rotation for long.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 6, 2014 -> 08:05 PM) It makes me think of him stealing money after 2006 Money, he will have you know, that he certainly does not need No offense, and not wanting to start an Ozzie-fest riot on here again, but the last couple seasons I thought we've been told by many on here the manager does nothing. So how was Ozzie stealing money? Robin seems to get a free pass since the Sox talent has been declining, though he still had a contender his first year.
  11. I wonder why the thought of Ozzie makes me smile and dream of 2005.
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 6, 2014 -> 07:04 PM) He still makes 15 million dollars to play a major sport. I thought he could at least act like he ran on a treadmill a couple times this winter. Every time he got the ball it was just kind of a lackadaisical run through as if he was fielding balls in BP. Adam Dunn seems like a very nice guy but he's been 'stealing' money from the White Sox during his pathetic tenure on the South Side. Why can't some just accept the fact that some of us fans despise what he's done in the batter's box and on the field for the White Sox? If you all like Dunn, fine. Some of us think he's been horribly bad and a symbol of our franchise's decline in the standings.
  13. Oops, somebody might kill my game winner thread. I don't know how to kill it. SEMIEN is CLUTCH.
  14. Once again, Semien comes through with a clutch hit. Got to love it. If that average was .270 instead of .220 we'd be dying for him to be in the two-hole. Good bullpen work again. I say that even though Lindstrom walked the tying run on base and gave up a two-out hit, making it moderately scary. I gave up on the game in the ninth when Tank hit into the DP and went for a 45-minute walk to get rid of steam. I admit I'm a bad fan, but we did win, so I'm very happy. I hate losing to the Cubs.
  15. Time to take a break and get the f*** out of here. We are done tonight. Walk off coming. Bye.
  16. Samarj is another pitcher like Peavy and Verlander who doesn't like to come out, right?
  17. He's losing it. Make him pay. Liner to right! No grounders.
  18. Wow. He didn't bite. Somebody now needs to get a clutch hit!!! Cause we will lose in the bottom of the ninth if we don't score here. Count it.
  19. Why do I assume strike 3 is coming? In dirt.
  20. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 6, 2014 -> 02:28 AM) Pitch around to get to Dunn? Sure. Why not?
  21. That 2-1 pitch was a strike but not in the modern era. I'll take the walk.
  22. Beckham fails miserably again. Slow roller to short.
  23. Why is it so cold in Chicago? It's been in the 80s here the last few days and you guys usually get our weather.
  24. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ May 6, 2014 -> 01:52 AM) Bo Jackson wouldnt have had a shot to get him on that play. Yes he would have. Regardless, he should have thrown the ball. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 6, 2014 -> 01:59 AM) Dunn had two chances to score in one inning and didn't take either one. The Dunn era will mercifully end someday. My gosh it's been pathetic baseball since he's been in town.
  25. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 6, 2014 -> 01:48 AM) Dunn didn't even try to make a play to the plate. Hilarious in a sad kind of way.
