  1. Nice job, Beckham! That's not easy with two strikes. Wowsie! Notice how Beckham didn't pull a Lorenzo Cain. He just ran after he hit it.
  2. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 03:52 AM) So who in the hell would you put in? A guy who has been your closer 90% of the year or a guy like Crain or Myers who have been inconsistent as well? Show Reed you have confidence & put his ass in the game. If we wanna make noise in the playoffs (if we get there) we need him. I'd use Reed, of course. I'm just saying I want an easy Reed save.
  3. I don't see how Dayan ever gets a hit vs. a righty. That's all you have to do to whiff him.
  4. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 03:47 AM) I hope we do see him. Gotta prove himself in a BIG TIME game like tonight. it really is time for no drama, just get the f***ing save. Detroit is not some amazing team. The Tigers can only beat us of late. Time for a regular, no drama save! It might set the tone for Peavy tomorrow.
  5. QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 03:42 AM) With first base open don't you walk fielder here? You don't want to put the tying run on first and lead run at the plate. You only do that to the Pujols of a couple years ago. Way to go, Mr. Veal. Three outs from a huge win. Can Addison Reed give us an easy ninth?? Some closers have easy ninths one in a while. This would be a big one. Wrap it up, Sox.
  6. Damn. This is drama. Fielder you know is gonna try to time a fastball and tie this baby up.
  7. Cmon Sox. At least Cabrera can't tie it. If he homers it'll still be 4-3. Cmon get him out and give Reed some room in the ninth.
  8. Wish he hadn't walked him, but incredible performance. Nice applause by the Sox fans.
  9. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 02:26 AM) The team is playing tight. You can see it on their faces after making errors, Miggy getting tossed , first pitch swinging etc. I put that on lack of leadership and thats Leyland's job. Maybe not fair but thats the way it is. Too bad, Tiger fans. You didn't play tight against the Sox in winning seven in a row. Maybe it's the Sox's turn. Maybe? Let's close this one out. I'd feel better with a five-run lead, but Detroit has certainly given the Sox some openings tonight. If Sox win, Rios is the man to be toasted for getting a key hit. Finally somebody pitching deep in a game as well. I can't believe Q rebounded from that lousy start. It looked like he had nothing.
  10. That was a gopher ball. Thank you Detroit for popping it up. I have to remember Detroit is a very lousy baseball team that has only beaten us the last couple weeks. Oh well, time to go eat. I am out which is good cause I am already pissed that we are trailing and not being the aggressors in a big series in our own park. Crowd appears ultra dead as well.
  11. Get somebody up. He's horrific. Get him out of there. He needs to be shut down. He's not the Q of old.
  12. Typical momentum shift again. Sox can't score in first after getting runner in scoring position. Detroit pounding Q who is throwing meat up there. Wow. Tigers waking up again now that they are playing the Sox. 1-0.
  13. I'll say one victory for our Sox, though I have to see that win to believe it. GO SOX!
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 10:55 PM) I'm pretty sure Youk gave up on the team. Him and Valentine conspired to take down the White Sox from the inside. This plan was developed in 10 months ago and has only recently come close to fruition, since Youks wife gave birth. Youk is a mole, and his child is the greatest foil in the history of the game, better even than a black cat on the field and goat in the stands. Uh oh again. Your conspiracy theory is intriguing.
  15. QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) Hey Guys- I am looking for a little press as I have come to the final 10 games of my 50 game quest. I have been looking on the net to find most of the beat writers for the Sox as well as the guys who are on the radio too. Who do you think I should contact? Names are great and so are emails! Thanks guys! Two new blogs going up soon, plus I am at the Tigers series all week. Thanks! Email is your best friend in this situation. Email everybody, newspaper, TV, radio and TV news stations. Make it a reasonably long email explaining it to the writers and producers and tell them you'd be available to meet them at your seat or in any part of the stadium they want. Oh yes, include a link to your blog so they can see it. Make sure you stress the current amount of money it has cost you to see X amount of games. That's the key in your experience. How cheaply you've been able to do this. I'd also email those local TV morning shows that lead into the noon news if they have them. You are a legitimate guest if people know about you. In fact, you may be more a featury news type story than a straight sports story. These stories are mighty valuable if the team somehow was to make the playoffs. In fact your odds of getting any pub on this may hinge on the Sox actually growing some balls and taking this division for once and all. You could ask the beat writers the name of an editor in the news section if they are not interested. Or simply send a copy of your email to a features editor as well. There should be a directory of names/jobs on all the newspaper websites in chicago i'd think. You could also send them to the various sports talk show producers finding their names on their websites like the Score, etc.
  16. I simply love D Wise, but any team having him bat third in a pennant race is in a world of (injury) hurt.
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 10:37 PM) Guys on CTL are giving Youk some crap about not being with the team yesterday. Supposedly the baby was born Friday and both baby and mom were fine and healthy Saturday morning. Uh oh. Is this trouble for us? Does Youk sense this team is going nowhere? Yesterday was very very crucial. If we were 3 up on Detroit as we should be that would have made a world of difference entering this series. It would have been huge. The fact the Sox are not 3 up entering tonight's game is very deflating considering Det. couldn't win one in Los Angeles.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) Prison rape makes me LOL. I hope all prisoners get raped 24/7. Are u serious or is this a joke? If u are serious I continue to be amazed why I'm the only demon in this thread.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) Its not unfortunate. Unions used to make sense, now they fight for more rights then regular humans get. Unions werent created so that workers could get better perks than everyone, they were created so they could get equal treatment. Are you the working police? How do you determine whether I am working or not? Technically while you are typing on Soxtalk you are not working unless you are on the phone talking to a client or coworker while simultaneously typing on this board. However seconds after you type on soxtalk you can be working.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) I cannot function today at work. I am too nervous. I don't get nervous anymore when we play KC or Detroit cause I expect the worst. If we somehow win, the joy will be so much greater that way.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 03:59 AM) Milkman flat-out said he doesn't care about prison rape, but you've been trying to weasel around saying that's what you think, and what you're saying is completely incoherent. But name one person who actually "supports" Holmes. Why do some people on this board "assume" things? I listed my position about 20 times and still you think I don't care about prison rape. I don't want people breaking the law. Case closed. People on this board try to make Greg a demon. I think it's great Holmes fears rape and getting beaten if and when he ever sees general population. I don't want him killed in prison as Dahmer was, however. I just want him to fear bad things.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 04:53 AM) What a joke. You can't walk out on the kids. It's fine to demand more money or benefits or better work environments, but who loses most when the teachers go on strike? It's not the union, it's not the city, it's the kids. Try to get a deal done but do your f***ing job in the mean time. This has been one of the most violent summers in history. Here's a bright idea, let's cancel school and put more kids on the street instead of in classrooms. Guess what, everyone else in the f***ing country is working their ass off in s***ty work places and getting less money than they deserve too. Great post. I was reading the IHSHAA may rule against letting the kids practice. Coaches are going to take them to city parks to practice football cause the football coaches are concerned the kids in these bad neighborhoods will just quit the sport and go to the streets. Teachers are making a big mistake here. In this economy what's wrong with a 4 percent raise and no rise in health benefit costs? What do they want 10 percent? Good for them I guess if they can get it.
