QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) Marist runs the same offense as Brother Rice. They have been doing it for about 5 years and are awesome at it. Is that right? Wow. Does Marist run all those five-receiver sets and throw 40 times a game? I did not know that. -
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 08:08 PM) Regardless of what happens the rest of the way I can't believe how f***ing pathetic it is to lose 8 out of 9 (en route to 9 out of 10) to the team you are directly competing with neck-and-neck for the division crown. It's laughable. This is why I said I'd just rather forfeit and move on. We can't beat Detroit and unfortunately we can't beat KC, either and we got 3 in a row coming up in KC. Yikes. It's OK cause it is what it is but we gotta win the division in spite of Detroit n KC. It's still possible. That's just 4 losses.
-
If Rahm gets a court order and teachers still don't go to class, what would happen? Or would the teachers immediately head back to the classroom, scared to death of what they could lose if they get fired??
-
I'd expect under 20,000 for the make up game, right? Prolly 10-15,000? Hopefully like caufield said the Sox can relax and win one. Even if we lose as I expect, we're still one up with no more games left vs. the Tigers.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) 14-4 against Minnesota. Never thought that would be possible. Always nice to pound a division team into submission. If we could play .500 vs. KC and Detroit and pound Cleveland like we do Minnie, we'd be way way up in the division standings.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 10:45 PM) Division-wise, it's 68.8 to 31.2. If the Tigers win tomorrow, I'd put that at 58/42 Sox. If the Sox win, it's probably 81/19. Those are just insane percentages. The Tigers and Sox play Monday. If Detroit wins (and I would think the departed Caesar will be betting heavily on the Tigers) they are only one out. That's just crazy to have us heavy favorites at this point. And we play the Royals 3 more in KC. WTF? QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) IF top 20 is upper half, then sure. There is no arguing that he has been a top 20 to top 25 pitcher in all of baseball this year. There are, if you assume 5 starters per team, over 150 starters. That puts him far more then just being in the upper half. Plus, what is it with some of you all. He gave up 2 runs and got the win. I'd agree with top 30 pitcher I guess, not top 20 in the league. He's a good pitcher, I'll give him that. He's not special I don't think. I'd think some of our knowledgeable stat minded posters could quickly put together a list of the best and I'd expect to see Peavy about No. 25-30.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) 2 pages ago, he had a horrible OBP, lol. Now he's compared to Albert. Are you a fan or not, Gregmeister? I never hated him. I just also liked CQ. And when Viciedo gets into his funks where he whiffs a ton, it drives me crazy. And he is young, etc.
-
Then again, in games like today, Viciedo looks like he's going to revolutionize the game. That was a bomb.
-
OMG. Viciedo with a mammoth blast. He looks like Pujols.
-
Rios with the smooth stroke and the wheels. You don't have to swing all hard to crush a baseball.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 08:42 PM) Peavy's only thrown 85 pitches Wow. It's safe to say he was staying in the game even if it was 3-2. Way too early to pull him just cause lefties are coming up.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) Now you're left with the equally interesting decision to pull Peavy and have Veal face Mauer and Morneau to lead off the bottom of the 6th. You almost have to do it if you're Ventura, POSSIBLY a one run lead, Mauer perforated some eardrums with his last drive off the base of the CF wall and homered oppo. It depends on the pitch count and Adam of course just gave some valuable insurance with the blast.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 08:31 PM) Well, there goes that lead. At least he's a fighter, right? I'm over getting mad at Peavy. He is what he is. A pretty good, definitely not great, starting pitcher. He is hittable and the wheels can fall off at any point. He's OK, definitely in the upper half of starting pitchers, but he is far from dominant. He's not worth some huge contract, but a ton of starters in the bigs are overpaid as well as him.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 08:22 PM) 20-25 homers and 70-75 RBI's is right about where most projected....maybe a bit short on the RBI's and batting average, but not far off. Twins 29-45 at home so far this season. Threatening to go a woeful 4-14 against the White Sox. Yeah but his on base percentage is ridiculously bad isn't it? Hopefully he gets hot cause Detroit is back. We ain't getting a wild card so we gotta win the division.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 08:20 PM) There seemed to be some and still are that zero in on one player and just ride him for all it's worth in a negative manner. It's a shame sometimes to see. CQ is putting up good numbers in San Diego regardless of his physical condition Yep. You are the best fan I've ever seen. I don't know how you stay so positive regarding most all of the players and the team.
-
How could the KC Chiefs be this bad? It's 35-3 Buffalo and KC drops to 0-2. I know this is the NFL, but the Chiefs' attendance is going to really suck if this continues another week or so. Wow. How can Scott Pioli tie himself to Matt Cassel? I don't watch every Chiefs game religiously but whenever I watch, I tell u he is so average to lousy.
-
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 07:05 PM) You get the feeling Viciedo is going to be some sort of very good next year. If CQ had put up the numbers of Viciedo this year for the Sox, people on here would be burying him. I know, Dayan is young. But he has a lot of improving to do. Most people thought he'd be ready to rake this season after not being rushed.
-
Well Detroit has woken up from its slumber. If we're gonna win it, we're gonna have to earn it. I'm still glad we got rained out the other night. Sox at that point were in the tank. Now they appear to be competing again. The ? is can we earn the title and beat a higher payroll team in the Tigers or not?

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 04:28 AM) And the team that beat both of them this year, Marist is now 4-0 after putting a beating on St. Patrick's. Marist is incredible. Where are they getting these stud players? Marist is gonna win it all if it stays healthy IMO. I think Brother Rice stole one tonight. Does Rita normally pass as much as it did tonight? Rice runs that spread offense like a small college team. They have five wide outs, no running backs a lot. Do many Chicago h.s. teams run the spread/no huddle offense? It's kind of crazy. -
Meet Your 2013 AL champs: The KC Royals? Why not them?
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 07:15 PM) You have chimed in plenty, we know your stance I know your guys' stance as well, and gotta keep reading it, but I'm the one who has to shut up bout it. Oh well, life ain't fair.
-
Thanks to Sale for getting the Sox back on track. I think it's pretty obvious saving Sale for Monday woulda been dumb. This is just what the Sox needed tonight.

Brother Rice scores with 1:52 left and wins at St. Rita. Great football game on ESPN3. Really a well-played game. -
Brother Rice is down to St. Rita 21-17 late; Rita in control with the football. Sucks.
