GT: Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 08:36 PM) Yeah, except that reports indicate that he's telling people he feels fine. He's prolly old school and doesn't ever complain. Problem is he's way too slow to be a singles hitter obviously. The poor guy can't hit effectively. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) Well if he feels 100%, then someone needs to tell him that the Sox don't need him swinging like an opposite field slap hitter. Yeah he's too slow to be a productive slap hitter. That won't cut it. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) Management should issue a press release stating that Paulie will now be a singles hitter for the remainder of the year. Or just tell the truth about his injury to a fan base that pays a lot of money to see the team play. Sox fans are big boys n girls; they can take a dose of bad news. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 08:22 PM) BTW, Konerko has one extra base hit in July (a weak double down the first base line) It's sad the Sox apparently have decided a 50 percent Paulie shouldn't be shut down. Hei's got to be hurt; he couldn't get this bad so quickly after dominating pitching the past couple seasons. This is on the Sox management team. -

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 07:01 PM) Why does he rustle your jimmies so much? I'm not bothered at all by people who like to be pessimistic I just want to ignore him before I get banned and couldn't find any ignore feature. Sorry to hijack the thread with this. -

QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) This is the same guy that was calling games over in the KC series before they even started. I mean, you can't make this s*** up. Now go defend Guillen. I was at game one of that series and enjoyed all 14 innings. Great night for me and friends at the game. Fun times. And I got mad once and once only: When Reed blew the save. -

I think you are gonna get banned eventually partly for continuing to tell me what to do. I'll just wait you out. -

I still can't believe Humber's career is in jeopardy the same season he threw a perfect game. That's baseball I guess, the best sport on earth. -

At least Caesar's presence is doing one positive thing for this board: Making me not want to post as much so you guys don't have to read me. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) I understand all that, greg. I'd be totally fine with a live beheading. But the guy will get a legitimate defense. He has that right. I'm sure his lawyers will play the insanity card and I'm not even sure if the dude is competent. You've got to be pretty f***ed up in the head to do what he did. In a case like this, they're no doubt going to keep the guy isolated. So forget about all that death by inmates stuff. Bottomline: there's nothing that anybody can do to him that will be even 5% of what he's done to others. Even if he gets the death penalty, it'll be a lame ass painless lethal injection. That's just the way it is. I don't know why you have the right to a legitimate defense when he was caught doing it. He did it. To the attorneys out there: If I was guilty of killing a few people in Kansas and the national media didn't give a f*** about the case, wouldn't I be tried within a month and after a trial that lasted, oh about a day, quietly be sent up the river or given the death penalty? In this case, I hate the fact it's going to be highly publicized and he's going to get a great defense team who want the publicity, etc. This man killed a f***ing 6 year old and her mother; he killed eight others, wounded 70 or something. He has no rights. Why? Cause there's no doubt. He was seen doing it. He did it. The only court case will be a bunch of made for TV crap. Damn I can't believe that coward didn't take his own life or raise his gun to a cop so he could have got Bonnie and Clyded. f***. And I dont think you have to be f***ed up in the head to do what he did. You watch pretty much any action movie and people are getting assault guns and blowing zillions away. I'm sure he just took on a character. He isn't insane. He ordered all the ammo. he's guilty; kill him please. I think I need to speak to a minister about why evil like this happens.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 01:47 AM) Have to remember when it comes to witnesses they are crap and are the main reason innocent people go to jail, it is pretty clear Myers did hit his wife but we don't know all the circumstances around it. I don't think he is a stand up human being by any means, I'm not going to buy any merchandise with his name on it, but without knowing about everything I'm not going to call him a scumbag. I don't see how people love AJ and hate Myers though, wasn't AJ the guy when someone asked if he was ok after being hit in the nuts... he responded by hitting the guy in the nuts and asking him if it feels ok? The quotes from the female byster were pretty disturbing. Seems like the guy is a creep, but whatever. If he hits his wife at any time in the future, I would hope he's thrown in jail for a long long time. Sox add another veteran. It's time to start winning series again. Team has been simply pathetic since beating KC two of three. We could have lost all 3 of those games and the Royals have been s*** since.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 11:58 PM) Read this. Boston Globe. She was quoted as saying he hit her twice. A witness reported her saying, 'I'm not going to let you do this to me anymore". The man is scum. Phillies pitcher Brett Myers arraigned for allegedly beating his wife June 23, 06 01:17 PM By Suzanne Smalley Globe Staff Brett Myers, a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, was arraigned this morning after being arrested shortly after midnight for allegedly beating his wife in front of several witnesses on Boylston Street, authorities said. Myers, 25, was released by a judge this morning after pleading not guilty to assault and battery charges in Boston Municipal Court, according to David Procopio, a spokesman for Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley. The pitcher and his wife, Kim Myers, 28, were walking back to their hotel from a bar when a dispute broke out 900 Boylston St, according to Procopio and a police report. Police responded at 12:26 a.m. to a 911 call reporting a domestic assault, Procopio said. Myers' wife told police she believed her husband hit her twice in the face with a closed fist. Witnesses told police Myers dragged his wife by the hair and slapped her across the face. Procopio said it is unclear if Myers punched his wife or slapped her, but he did strike her in the face. Courtney Knight, 26, who witnessed the alleged attack, said in an interview today that Myers was out of control. "It was disgusting," Knight said. "He was dragging her by the hair and slapping her across the face. She was yelling, 'I'm not going to let you do this to me anymore.' " Knight said the 6-foot-4 ballplayer dwarfs his wife, who the police report said was 5 foot 4 and 120 pounds. "She's a real small girl," Knight said. "It was awful." Myers allegedly told Knight and her friends to leave and resisted when they tried to pull him off of his wife, prompting Knight to call police. She said Myers was undeterred by the presence of her and her two friends. "He had her on the ground. He was trying to get her to go, and she was resisting," Knight said. "She curled up and sat on the ground. He was pulling her, her shirt up was around her neck....He could have cared less that we were there." The player was arguing with his wife because he wanted to return to their hotel and she did not, a woman who was with Myers and his wife told police. Myers is slated to pitch against Curt Schilling at Fenway Park tomorrow. The police report says that officers found Kim Myers crying and with swelling on the left side of her face. The victim bailed her husband out, posting $200 in bail at the South End police station early this morning, Procopio said. According to a Major League Baseball website, Myers married his wife in 2002 and they have a 3-year-old daughter. Very sad stuff. I respect Dick Allen's position on this matter. Sad.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 08:22 PM) Doesn't matter what we think, greg. There's a system in place and he has rights. Our system is the best, but this case is cut and dried. He is the killer; he did the killing; he was caught; his apartment is boobytrapped, he had the guns by his car, he did the killings. I want this bastard murdered in jail right now. I'm sorry if that makes me a bad person. This f***brain MURDERED a six year old kid who was in the words of her aunt, "excited about life, like all 6 year olds; just started swimming and proud of the fact she could swim." This douchbag mother f***er killed all these people. HE DID IT; everybody knows he did it, no reasonable doubt. KILL HIM. Death penalty. bye bye. Or fellow inmates currently, please get to him and kill him.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 11:19 PM) Every team has stretches like this. The better fans realize that their team doesn't suck. I'm not saying the Sox suck. I am saying I'm not convinced we're going to escape the curse of being one or two above or under .500 this season, now that the team is in a horrible funk again.
-
We add another veteran player. How can a team with so many established players (Peavy, Youk, Paulie, AJ, Rios, Dunn, Thornton, Floyd, now Meyers, et. all, have so much trouble staying a meaningful number of games north of .500? Year after year our name players fail to do squat as a team.
-
Bye bye first place; it was fun knowing you.
-
Boy when the Sox get in these funks they look like the worst team in baseball. Up and down up and down. Losing streaks suck.
-
After winning two of three in KC I never thought the road trip would be a disaster. Sox only hope the second half is to reverse the first half. Be totally dominant in the Cell, cause as expected, the road magic is gone. We'll be .500 at best on the road second half. Must dominate at home to be within five games of Detroit.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Well this thread is about to go to hell because people cant ignore the obvious troll. I do not understand why people on the internet feel the need to respond to every trash post. If you walk past a rambling lunatic on the street, do you stop and talk to them? I ignored his 'this game is over' stuff til I couldn't take it any more. Most importantly it jinxes the team because he ends up being right since the team is in a slump. I wish the team was in its winning streak so he'd really look out of place saying this game is over in the third inning.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 08:48 PM) Good lord your an idiot Baron better kill that post before a mod sees it. You might get the vacation for that.

QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) Shouldn't you be defending Ozzie in the Marlins thread? Nope, I'm trying to stop talking about Ozzie in respect to the board.

QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) This one is over. Sale looking terrible this inning. Hand must be bothering him Your this game is over stuff is insane and annoying. If you were around during the Sox win streak you'd really be looking foolish with such proclamations. Why don't you write stuff like that, then just don't hit the send button please.

Paulie with no pop. Put him on DL or tell the public he's a singles hitter now cause of the injury and bat him seventh.
