GENERAL WARNING THREAD
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 05:07 AM) You like the word troll? Huh? Anyway, the only time I've ever thought you were trolling is when you said Jeff schardmansufhf should take a lie detector test to determine whether he hit PK on purpose or not. That's was just strange. Besides that, you're fine. Thanks. I was pretty mad when Paulie got beaned.

Which Sox players wouldn't you trade?
Sale is our Verlander. I wouldn't trade him. Realistically I think we have enough talent to get the second wildcard. Then anything can happen in the playoffs. So I would add, not trade current starters.

20/7 (or 7/20): White Sox @ Detroit... IT'S ON!!!!
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 03:32 AM) Didnt you just ask why someone isnt putting up a "Peavy is not an Ace" thread like the Buehrle threads from like 2004? And you accuse me of picking out negative posts? At least im picking out one that just happened, not one from 8 years ago I'm just shocked Caesar and the other newbie didn't get called out for proclaiming the game was ova again and the season was ova in about the fifth inning and my post was the only one called out for its negativity. I'm sick of being the whipping boy, I guess. I like Peavy. I am pissed he gave the runs back immediately. he got clubbed that ensuing inning.

Shooting in CO at Batman premiere
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) What a terrible, terrible tragedy. Not trying to turn politically...but I'm sure the Gun Control crowd will run with this one. What's strange is I just watched Bowling for Columbine the other night for the first time...America's fascination with guns and their ready availability. As a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment and NRA...and a conceal carry person myself, I'm just curious to see the spike in CCW permits in Colorado now in the wake of this event. We as a country, have been programmed to live in fear and violence is second nature anymore. I'm just surprised there were no CCW carriers in the crowd. If it was AZ I'd venture to say he probably would have had at least 5-6 people returning fire... The sheer senselessness of things like this amaze me... Are you serious? So in Arizona, had the guy not set off the tear gas, he probably would have been killed before killing or injuring many at all? QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) And if 5-6 people were shooting in a crowded, smoke filed theater, Id venture to guess youd have more injuries/fatalities. Handguns dont stop automatic weapons, and generally arent very good against people wearing ballistics helmet, bullet-proof vest, bullet-proof leggings, etc. But is that really the point? If you want to kill people, no gun in the world is going to stop them. Perhaps the focus should be on the US love affair with violence, and how killing a large group of people is a good way to get famous quick. I personally think that the punishment should be that no one ever mentions his name again. You massacre people, you are erased from history. No incentive to use it as a way get notoriety. I was thinking about that. Too bad that's not our country. Our country is to now find out everything we can about the gunman and they'll tell his story over and over and over on TV, just like Casey Anthony. Those who follow this case will know everythign about this guy. All I know is he's an asshole. I don't know how deranged he is. Seriously. Maybe he is mad out of his mind, but at the present time I just think he's a punk who wanted to kill a lot of people. To you attorneys out there ... I know you have a job to do, but isn't it difficult to represent this guy in the upcoming trial he'll have? I mean how in the hell do you proclaim this guy's innocence? He was caught in the parking lot after doing it. Is the attorney actually going to say, "My client is innocent of all charges?" I hate everybody today after this. Senseless deaths piss me off so badly.

20/7 (or 7/20): White Sox @ Detroit... IT'S ON!!!!
QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 01:36 AM) Please do not pick up Peavys option next year. He is not a high pressure pitcher. He never has been. Time to really think about the direction of this franchise. This team doesn't have a chance to make the playoffs. Wow. Caesar is king of the message board with posts like that. Yikes. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:17 AM) Peavy's absolutely gassed. These pitch counts for Peavy are crazy. Isn't his contract up after this year. If so, it's obvious the Sox don't care if he uses the ol arm up this year. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:30 AM) Beckham is back to being bad at the plate. Looks completely lost. Beckham is to the point, I think of him as Getz. He's just another guy (offensively). Defensively he's pretty special, but the man is just another guy offensively. Would any of you actually be upset if like Fathom suggests he's traded in the offseason as a change of scenery trade? I wouldn't mind. You can always find a second baseman. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:40 AM) Wow. Our pen is a LOT worse than I thought. Our pen has been average at best to below average ever since Joe Morgan years ago said it was the best in baseball history or whatever he said. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:59 AM) Man, you would think we just faced the best pitcher in the AL. You pick out my post to use as an example of negativity when Caesar and that other guy were proclaiming the game over for the second night in a row before the fifth inning? I'm the optimist of all time compared to them. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 03:01 AM) Greg, I suppose the Royals would have batted Verlander around when he was throwing 97-100 in the 7th and 8th? Tip your caps. 4 two out runs scored. Not that they were great pitches (any of them) by Peavy. Great job Donnie Veal, someone finally bowed their neck down there and fought back. How the hell did the NL treat Verlander like Luke Hochevar?

20/7 (or 7/20): White Sox @ Detroit... IT'S ON!!!!
Sox got the 2 runs and then suddenly Detroit woke up and dominated. Bad game. I'm surprised nobody has started a thread, "Peavy is not an ace." like all the Buehlre is not an ace threads of the past. 3-5 road trip; worst trip in a while.
-
White Sox/Tigers head to head, who do you take?
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) YEP. Time for the bats to WAKE UP! Verlander is not unstoppable. How the hell did the NL treat him like Jonathan Sanchez?

GENERAL WARNING THREAD
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 06:40 PM) Not sure why you quoted me... But Greg, I don't think you're a troll. I just disagree with you. Just cause of the word "troll" in your post. I like the word troll even tho I am not one. I don't think there are any trolls on this site. I think a troll to some could be classified as somebody with an unpopular opinion who will never give up such opinion because it simply is an opinion. p.s. Last night's loss was huge. It's vital we come back to win 2 of 3 in Detroit after that stinker. We are 3-4 on this road trip; 3-7 would be very very bad.

Shooting in CO at Batman premiere
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 06:52 PM) I really, really hope we as a country don't freak out over this. It's a fluke thing done by a crazy person. No more, no less. This isn't because of Call of Duty, Batman, availability of guns, etc. This was a crazy person that did this. Period. More than a decade after 9/11 i'm still pissed how much we as a society gave up in terms of personal freedoms in everyday life just to feel more safe, when in reality we're not much safer than before. True. I still think it'd be so easy for a group of gunmen to hit a big stadium, not at the start of a game but the second half of a college football or basketball game. Thank God they haven't done it.

Shooting in CO at Batman premiere
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) There are some truly sick people out there. I hope this piece of garbage dies a slow painful death. This has hit me hard. I am just amazed this guy would go in a theatre and blast away on all sorts of strangers. Think of how many people this affects, how many lives lost, families ruined. And this f***ing moron who did this ... does this guy realize his one ridiculous act of violence now puts him in jail the rest of his life as he awaits his date of death with Colorado having the death penalty? Was it worth it, you f***ing clown? Couldn't you have taken you sick anger out on something else? Go chop a f***ing tree down in rage or something you moron. I'm sick. Whatever this guy's problem with society, to take the lives of innocent people, many of those people I'm sure who were planning on being superstars of society and having their own families, etc. My god.

Non-profit job hunt thread
Caufield what's it like working in China? Are you allowed to date women out there? Or would they consider you a jerk for even considering to do so? Are u married? Don't answer if you don't want to. I just figured it might be tough to get dates over there. What are your classes like? Do they respect Americans? Is it tough to teach somebody to speak English? And read, etc?

19/7 - White Sox @ Red Sox: Split to play for
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 06:00 AM) I just wonder what ever happened to the time-honored tradition of never taking a guy out pitching a shutout? Get's old... Modern baseball. Protect the starters; let your closers close; blah blah blah. The worst thing that coulda happened is Q blew the game in the ninth like our relievers and 3Bman did.

What to do about Santiago?
Santiago must really stink to not get some of Thornton's innings of late. Matt has been lighter fluid for a long time. I'm not flaming Robin on this. He and Coop probably have reason to think Santiago is trash since they see him every day. But it is puzzling.

19/7 - White Sox @ Red Sox: Split to play for
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 03:25 AM) Hudson can only play 2B. That's his problem. And he's not an especially effective pinch-runner either, no better than Danks or Escobar there at this point in his career. Can't Hudson play third as well as Esky? I sensed from Hawk's tone he was not surprised at Esky's lousy play on the easy DP. Got to make that play in the ninth. You just have to.

Lilibridge to be DFA'd
What's the update on Lilly? Did he get DFA'd? I'd think we'd pick him up. He's not a bad bench guy in a White Sox uniform. Long swing, though. Must revamp his offensive game again.

19/7 - White Sox @ Red Sox: Split to play for
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 03:23 AM) Regardless of what happened tonight, there's absolutely no reason to be wasting a roster spot keeping both Escobar and Hudson. Excellent point. Eskie must go in that scenario.

19/7 - White Sox @ Red Sox: Split to play for
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 03:07 AM) Wish he tried to overuse Q tonight. So does Hawk. He told Stoney "daggum right" when asked if he would bring back Quintana in the ninth. Thornton has turned into Ohman. He's just no good. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 03:11 AM) Surprised no one mentions that Edwardo Escobar, does not make a routine double play, if he can't do that, what exactly is he doing on this team? Huge huge play in the game obviously. Hawk was pissed. It's very frustrating to not split with a mediocre Boston team. That's what happens when Youk got hurt, though. We'd prolly have won tonight and split had he played.
-
19/7 - White Sox @ Red Sox: Split to play for
The Sox killer ... Cody Ross. Couldn't split against the mediocre Red Sox. Poor Quintana. Damn.
-
19/7 - White Sox @ Red Sox: Split to play for
Boy, that Royals Sox game I was was an aberration. Quintana is back. He just must have been a little rusty after the All Star Break. He's amazing again. OK. No heroics. Let's close out this 1-0 win. Or how bout two in the ninth to take the pressure off?
-
19/7 - White Sox @ Red Sox: Split to play for
If Sox win 1-0 maybe it is meant to be this year. A 1-0 win would be nice.

QUOTE (MAX @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:47 PM) I could never visit a place where people talk like that. It annoys the hell out of me. Me too. But they had that accent in the movie "Ted" and it actually didn't bother me that much.

Do it. Head over to the stadium.

GENERAL WARNING THREAD
QUOTE (soxmaniac! @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:45 PM) im glad this has finally been brought to soxtalks attention. trolls and flaming have gotten out of control. as stated above, we dont want this to be another red scare. people that we dont think to be trolls COULD be trolls, and we dont even know it. hell, some admins could be trolls and we have no idea. this needs to be stopped before it gets too bad. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) I'm pretty sure SS2k5 is a troll. He posts on another board under a completely different alias, so we won't catch on to him. Most people despise me, but please believe me when I humbly, truthfully state this fact: "I am not a troll." Go SOX!

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 12:40 PM) I think from 2004-2008 Ozzie did a great job as a manager of this ballclab. Two division championships and a W.S. title. From 2009-2011 it turned into this "Ozzie Guillen" show all of a sudden. His family would be tweeting terrible things about this ballclub and Ozzie would defend his children. The fact that he started bringing up a contract extension in the middle of last season (when they were only 4 games back) really pissed me off. His team pretty much underachieved the last 3 seasons and he wanted an extension. Ozzie started caring more about Ozzie and less about the team and that W.S. title officially went to his head which is very very sad. Ozzie is an excellent situational manager. However, he is NOT a good teacher of the game. He is never one to help out a slumping veteran or groom a young player. Makes me wonder why they even needed Omar Vizquel to help "teach" Alexie Ramirez play SS. Didn't Ozzie play SS his whole career? Ozzie is terrible at teaching, coaching and mentoring the younger players. I could not stand his mind set of "If they are in the big leagues, they dont need to be taught" mind set. From what i have seen thusfar, Robin is doing a great job with the veterans who slumped last year ( it helps having a calm demeanor) AND he is doing a great job with a very, very young bullpen AND he really brought the team together this year. Its pretty cool seeing Dunn hug Viciedo after he hits a HR and vice versa. This team looks loose and they are fun to watch. I haven't seen a team this relaxed since the 2005 season. Good post. I disagree with some of it, but you worded this so well, no reason to debate. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) Anyone want Clayton Richard? He's supposedly on the White Sox radar. Yes.
