  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 12:16 AM) Maybe Tigers will name Smyly their closer after tonight's game? Great post. Short, sweet and mocks this organization as it deserves to be mocked! Nice AB Adam.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 5, 2012 -> 12:53 AM) For the love of god, can someone please ban this f***ing troll!? Who is a troll? With your temper, you might be the one getting banned? I'm pissed at this move and KC is only a couple games behind the Sox. Switching Sale makes no sense at all after reading the articles. I could see if this decision was made by a soccer mom worried about her baby's arm. Nolan Ryan would laugh in the face of this move. Ridiculous. Insulting. It will show at the box office. Sox fans are not stupid. This team is one horrid road trip from going down the tubes, considering it is blah at home.
  3. The Royals will finish ahead of the Sox this year. I can guarantee this. I think the Sox will finish ahead of Minnesota though, barely.
  4. Did they say this was permanent? Cause it has to be. What are they gonna do? Make him a starter again next year and when the elbow tightens after a month he's a closer again? Some of you act like this happening to the elbow was natural. Well why did they make him a starter then if the elbow needed to be stretched out. I don't get this. It's all stupid.
  5. QUOTE (Cali @ May 4, 2012 -> 10:59 PM) And that'll about end my interest in the 2012 Sox. The sweep by Detroit this weekend will also help. Hope Jake, AJ, Floyd, Thornton play well and get a haul in July. s*** maybe get like a Texeria deal Paulie with a year on his contract. Haha sorry made myself laugh with that, like Kenny could ever get the kind of haul Texas got... You can't fool White Sox fans. That's why nobody will go to the games anymore. They should offer a season ticket discount to fans who wanted to see Sale start all year. What stupid reasoning. He's a damn good starter now. He has elbow problems? Well f***ing deal with them. Send him down. DL him. Watch him like the Royals did Duffy. Treat him. Make him the closer??? It makes no sense.
  6. You know what's really scary? What if he's a lousy closer? It was a pleasure to watch him start and completely make me forget bout Mark. It's hard to be a fan of this team.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) Rule #1 of broadcasting. You cannot read the scoreboard enough during a broadcast. (score, time, game situation etc) It's funny how all broadcasters say that is the No. 1 rule and realize that and yet the ones I listen to rarely give the score except to start an inning and end the inning.
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 4, 2012 -> 12:23 AM) I've been listening to MLB games via Gameday audio for the last couple of weeks and I forgot how good baseball is on radio. I forgot because Ed Farmer is brutal. He's not a radio guy, he can't paint a picture. I've found the best radio broadcasts consist of one broadcaster at a time and don't do the give and take that Farmer and DJ do. DJ is at least tolerable, but probably better suited for TV. I wish the Sox had a radio broadcaster calling their games instead of Farmer. Why the Farmer hate? I think he's OK. You should hear the Royals' hacks. They have one good announcer and they reduced his workload 90 games this year.
  9. QUOTE (Cali @ May 2, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) It's so odd that playing the Royals is gonna be huge test for the Sox this season cause the Royals are terrible. There is no reason they should give the team the same fits it had the last few seasons. None. Ironically, the second Minnesota became irrelevant in the division they Sox showed they could beat them, lets hope that continues. They should beat up both KC and Minny this season easily. So far so good vs. the Central. Gotta keep it up. The Royals are not terrible. They had a bad month. They do have terrible pitching. I guarantee you they will at least split with the Sox. They'll probably win the season series against the Sox. If Broxton stays healthy, they'll win some games. Their everyday players are better than the Sox's or at least equivalent. Those that pump sunshine about the Sox are great people, it's commendable, but how many years of substandard baseball do you need to see to realize the Sox are very flawed themselves. It would help if the Sox could rock Chen this year. He's still Chen, not real good.
  10. If we just reversed our home and road records, I'd be less apt to want to jump off a cliff. I'm sick of the dysfunction. The unexplainable stuff with this franchise.
  11. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 4, 2012 -> 04:15 AM) Was that a hit and run when Beckham ran us out of the 8th? I caught the tail end of the play. no. i wondered the same thing. fathom said becks had a mental lapse.
  12. Team dysfunction (at the Cell) lives on. What a joke. AJ takes strike three and Rios with a pathetic at bat.
  13. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 4, 2012 -> 04:00 AM) Alright, can we come back? Nope. We are the White Sox. Too little; too late I'm afraid.
  14. Also add the fact the Sox have a double power punch in the revitalized Dunn/Konerko. There are a lot of pieces on this team. Yet the puzzle adds up to .500 or a little below. Weird. Dunn is officially back, BTW, as long as he doesn't gain the 20 pounds back. He really looks great. Those of you who refused to bury him and said he'd return to norm appear to be correct. He's already hit more hard hit balls in five weeks than he did all last season.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2012 -> 03:58 AM) Greg, you were always the one saying how much the Royals' fans disliked Getz. Now he's a hero because he won the game yesterday and is hitting over .300 and stealing a few bags? Chris Getz is not a starter on a playoff-contending MLB team. Maybe not. But he's better than Gordo.
  16. I shouldn't be mad. Lexi was trying to hit a HR there which is what I'm calling for from our hitters.
  17. I just don't understand why we suck. We got a good leadoff hitter, good starting pitching except for Danks, good defense, adequate bullpen and yet we suck.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2012 -> 03:55 AM) I still think a lot of damage was done when Ozzie and Kenny tried to construct a team that could win playing small ball. Playing 81 games at the Cell means you better be able to hit the ball out of the park. Yeah, the small ball thing is a joke.
  19. Who would have thought Chris "Grinder" Getz would be a better ballplayer than Beckham? Amazing. Being a grinder isn't all bad. Beckham should grind more and not let his mind wander.
  20. So a new coaching staff can't change the Sox dysfunction. There's no possible reason to be this bad at home when the team is good on the road. I guess it's a jinx of 2005 continuing. I mean this is ridiculous.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2012 -> 03:48 AM) Nope, just someone losing track of the outs. Geez. That is bad.
  22. Was that a hit and run? No need to pull that s*** down by four. WTF happened? I looked away.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2012 -> 03:44 AM) This is a barely over .500 team. There are going to be plenty of ups and downs. This won't be more than a .440 team if this losing at home continues.
  24. Lousy at bat by Gordon. But he does have 2 hits.
  25. When's the last time we've had a GOOD come from behind win? Do it now. 2 on none out.
