QUOTE (RME JICO @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 03:26 AM) Kark? Here are the others with 10 or more years with the Sox: Ron Karkovice 1986-1997 Ray Schalk 1912-1928 Mike Tresh 1938-1948 Billy Sullivan 1901-1914 I'm not a big Kark guy though he had a great arm.

AJ's putting together a pretty solid White Sox career. He's got to be in the top 3-5 catchers in Sox history by now, correct? 1.) Fisk. 2.) Sherm Lollar. 3.) AJP? 4.) JC Martin whom am I forgetting?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) So what? Your favorite pitcher in the whole wide world is a soft tosser. Mark? Yeah but Molina can only dream about having a career like Mark's.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) He's about as consistent as you can get now. He's really changed his approach since 2008. He only looks to hit with power in favorable counts, otherwise, he'll take you up the middle or to the opposite field and take what the pitcher gives him. Amen. I mean he's been doing this for what, 3-4 seasons?? Incredible baseball player.

I will admit the Sunday lineup at least late in the Ozzie tenure was very annoying. Seeing Oldmar in there every Sunday was buzzkill. Many of those Sunday lineups were brutal. p.s. Hopefully Robin is already sick of Rios and he and Fuko will be sharing RF. And I do realize Alex already is responsible for one of our three wins.

How can Paul Konerko be this good? For 3 seasons now the guy is like a human instructional video on how to be a great hitter at the highest level. This guy does NOT get enough respect. He should be a perennial all star not some guy who has to win the fan vote. What a f***ing stud. And DeAza looks like the real deal which is great news.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 04:06 AM) #WhiteSox Nestor Molina who Chicago traded Sergio Santos to the #BlueJays for got hammered tonight. 4.2IP, 5ER, 9H, 1BB, 1K. 7.27ERA in 2Gs I do not pretend to be a scout. All I know is the video I saw of Molina showed him as a soft tossing meatball artist. I hope he succeeds but those of you who have seen highlights ... his pitches are slowwwwwww.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 11:07 PM) Actually Rush was on the NFL Sunday Countdown set, and then he made a racial comment about Donovan McNabb, and he was, in no short order, removed from the NFL Sunday Countdown set. Yet he's still going strong and making zillions of dollars yearly.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) This is nowhere near on the scale of Rush Limbaugh. You're on a White Sox message board in a baseball forum, so it's a hot button topic. Just because there's other idiots saying stupid things, that doesn't excuse your boy Ozzie for blabbering on a topic he knows little about and offending a portion of his newly adopted fan base. I am so glad Ozzie is embarrassing a franchise that isn't the White Sox now. What are u talking about? My point was Rush survived as Ozzie will. Nobody's even talking about Rush's blunder. For a while there was talk all the sponsors would leave. Oz will serve his five games and get booed. His fate will be decided on the field. I love Ozzie. So shoot me.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) I actually feel for Ozzie a little bit here. Yeah, it was dumb what he said. But c'mon now. This is officially ridiculous. Ozzie got caught up in the latest open mouth insert foot controversy in America. Hasn't the Rush Limbaugh thing which was all over the airwaves (he was supposed to lose all his sponsors) already died down and he's back to Rush being Rush? People will move on soon, but he will be booed (if the team is losing) big time at home games.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 07:04 PM) GREG! You've found your calling! Run to him! Defend him! Write an article! Do SOMETHING! Here's a good logical take on it from usatoday. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/columnist/l...take/54150160/1

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) Thing is, I believe Ozzie knew exactly what he was saying and he meant it. This is less about ignorance and more about arrogance, IMO. Telander's earlier story proves yes, he meant it. What he meant is obvious and arguably not so bad. Ozzie respects Castro for being a complete bastard and surviving, not being assassinated. In Ozzie's weird brain, he respects the fact this man has not been beheaded by now. He should never have gone there and deserves the backlash he's receiving. To say he "loves Castro" is beyond stupid. If stupidity can get you fired, then he deserves to be fired. But IMO he should not be fired. Somebody should come to Ozzie's defense and point out things he's done for people, for charity, etc. We've read enough accounts to realize Ozzie is not a bad man. He in fact, appears to be a good man. He is a talkaholic and the Marlins knew that when they signed him. Ozzie sitting alone at that table speaks volumes today. Nobody in the front office wants to be near him as he tries to cool off the hot seat. The easy way would be to fire him, but again, the Marlins knew they were getting a talkaholic. s***, he offended gays before. He was not gonna be silenced in Miami.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 06:34 PM) Poor Greg. That's a lot to process, then to fight back against and defend. Really wonder how Cowley can spin it to his editor. His limited brain must be turning somersaults trying to do the mental gymnastics of spinning this one in a positive light. Hopefully Cowley's g/f isn't Cuban-American or he'll have a hard time explaining himself. Nice to see him squirming a bit. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 12:40 AM) No more Greg775 or Marty34 on this topic? Hmmm...I know Greg usually posts late at night or after games. Didn't you see my long take? I don't think it's a fireable offense. I don't even know why he should be suspended? He needs to go read a long statement and apologize in the statement for being Ozzie and promising to be more sensitive the rest of his career. He has to stress he does not like what Castro is about and merely state that he poorly worded his "respect" for Castro for merely surviving all this time. Oz may be making a mistake by coming back to town to face the inquisitors. How is that going to help? In these situations (where there are news reporters not the jolly sports reporters) you need to make statements not take questions. The audience is not a friendly one. If Oz takes questions he's a fool. Cause the questions are all going to be from news reporters about Castro and politics. He must read a very very long statement, apologize and be done with it. No questions. I still love Oz. He blew it though. He's in a new town, new job and should realize they have no real history with him (they didnt care about him when he was a coach there). If he gets fired he has nobody to blame but himself. He needed to wait a bit before being Ozz in Miami.

The Royals can hit the baseball. It's going to be tough for the Sox to beat them this year ... again. That is all.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 08:02 PM) Wow, for once Greg, you've finally decided to say something bad about Ozzie. It's a Easter miracle. This Ozzie flap really interests me. The team issuing its own statement so quickly w/out even checking with Ozzie shows how he really blew it with this one. The getting drunk thing is pretty bizarre too. It seems weird a person would want to set himself up for hecklers. Ozzie said (and surely he was fibbing) he gets drunk after every road game then sleeps it off til 11. That's pretty weird in this day and age to basically say you get drunk 80 or more days a year.
-
Horrible, horrible game for the White Sox. 1-2 was the best we could hope for and got that. NEED to go 2-1 in Cleveland heading home 3-3.
-
Say what you want, that's the way to hit. Fuko needs to play, folks.
-
So we get shutout again. Didn't Sox suffer an inordinate amount of shutouts last season? Ugh.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 02:29 AM) I bet the movie does OK. Nice to get the DP. I don't see how it can. Look at the trailer. They should just show old stooges shorts at the theatre and people mite actually laugh.
-
Not good to walk people. That Three Stooges Movie is going to be one of the biggest bombs of all time. It looks HORRIBLE.
-
At least the Sox have better looking hats and uniforms than the Rangers.
-
Got to get a hit here if u are DeAza. Ohfer not acceptable.
-
I wish we could have opened at Cleveland then traveled to Texas. Hope our four and five starters do OK vs. the Tribe. Or are the Sox not going with a No. 5 for a bit?
-
Dayan with the lousy at bat.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 03:05 AM) People in Chicago don't care how good or bad the team is until a few month into the season. You care way too much about the crowds this year. Barring a miracle, it's going to be a mediocre year at the gate for the Sox. Yay. Somebody acknowledged one of my posts. I thought I was getting the silent treatment this year (cue that one awful commercial about the silent treatment)
