2012-2013 NCAA Basketball thread
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) They definitely have a shot. I'd lean towards Kentucky once again at the moment. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) SIU loses promising freshman Dantiel Daniels. He will be a good get for someone. 1.) Yeah, I would think Kentucky has a shot at winning No. 2 in a row and 9 in school history. I'd think if Kentucky had gotten Shabazz, Anderson and Tony Parker, Kentucky would be a lock to repeat and have as good a record next year as it had this year. Can UCLA do anything with its stellar recruiting class or is Howland a joke? 2.) Tell me about Daniels. Is he a hi major guy? I know Barry Hinson personally. He is one of the finest men I've ever met. In an era of high-ego bastards who do s*** like the football coach at Arkansas ... Barry Hinson DOES NOT DRINK, smoke or have any vices. He is a Christian who does not shove it down your throat like a Tebow. He lives it. GOOD LUCK BARRY HINSON.

2011-2012 NHL Thread
I was so happy/excited when the Hawks got that game-tying goal with just seconds to play ... again. Man, maybe this is a team of destiny. 2-0 woulda been pretty s***ty deficit. Now you'd think Hawks will kick some butt at home and wrap up this first series pretty quickly.

Addressing the Offensive Short Comings
QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 02:33 AM) Yes, Lillibridge can play 2B, and he would be an offensive upgrade vs. LHP. However, I'd rather give Beckham a chance to figure it out. That is not the case with Dunn and Rios. They have had plenty of time to do that. Lillibridge is a better platoon candidate for de Aza in CF. The problem is once again this season the White Sox have too many candidates for No. 9 hitter in the order (Beckham, Morel, Dunn, Rios). I realize you can't bat Dunn ninth, but against lefties, he's an automatic out. I don't care about spring training stats.

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (kapzk @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 12:15 AM) I say they try Alexi or Rios in the 2-hole, Morel just isnt going to work. Which will suck especially if we gonna have Rios, morel and beckham at the bottom of the lineup there Alexei yes. Rios, no. Rios platoon with Fuko? Yes.

Addressing the Offensive Short Comings
Can Lilly play second base effectively? It might be time to start sitting Gordon 3 days a week. Definitely at least 2 of every 7 games.

GT 4/15/12 - SOX vs. Tigers - 1:10p CDT - WGN
It sucks when this is the first game I've seen this year. Seems like same ol, same ol on Sundays, though I do realize Sox have been playing very good baseball, especially being 4-0 vs. Central.

GT 4/15/12 - SOX vs. Tigers - 1:10p CDT - WGN
QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 07:22 PM) Yeah he pitched great today I don't know about "great" when you throw that many pitches. I realize Detroit is a good team.

GT 4/15/12 - SOX vs. Tigers - 1:10p CDT - WGN
I thought it was an old wive's tale that you had to touch the ball for it to be an error. Cmon. A routine fly ball is an error. Could it be the wind is amazing in the Cell today?? Windblown double?

GT 4/15/12 - SOX vs. Tigers - 1:10p CDT - WGN
Is the wind horrible in the Cell today as it's been in KC? Awful play by DeAza.

GT 4/15/12 - SOX vs. Tigers - 1:10p CDT - WGN
QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 08:10 PM) he actually just hit a double and has a couple rbi singles this year I meant if it does something else like hit a double he'll screw it up cause he's a disaster of a baseball player. Only hope is a HR at the DH position.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) AWFUL base running by Dunn. He just froze there. All he can do is hit home runs. He's a disaster of a baseball player.

Paul Konerko
I'm amazed at how good a hitter he is. Approach wise, I don't think there's a better hitter in baseball. For what, 3 years now, he's been on top of every pitch. Amazing hitter.

White Sox Winner - 1st Place Chicago White Sox!!!
What a great win and great start to the season. It's so weird that it's the opposite of the last 2.5 seasons. Winning at home so far; beating the Central so far. And the games are clean and functional, not dysfunctional. I tip my cap to Robin.

2011-2012 NHL Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 05:20 AM) They did not get outplayed at all. The first six minutes they dominated, the puck stayed in the Coyotes zone, just couldn't get the puck past Smith. Then Phoenix got some momentum, made a play, game over. Maybe that bodes well for Game Two, then.

Is Indiana your national champion in 2012-13?

2011-2012 NHL Thread
Were you guys surprised the Hawks got outplayed so badly in OT? You'd think that incredible miracle goal with 10 seconds left in the third would have given the Hawks the momentum for OT. Instead, wasn't that a horses*** effort in OT?

THAT'S A PEAVY WIN AND A WHITE SOX WINNERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Just read the espnchicago column. I wonder if Robin will turn to Lillibridge at second if Beckham continues to be this bad at the plate.

THAT'S A PEAVY WIN AND A WHITE SOX WINNERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 04:40 AM) Good column on ESPN saying how the opener win vs division rivals help to cover awful games by Beckham and Dunn. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but Dunn looks worse game after game.. just like last year really. I'm just hoping we can win in spite of Dunn. At some point, though, Robin might have to move him down in the order. If he has to make out, I guess a K is better than a DP.

THAT'S A PEAVY WIN AND A WHITE SOX WINNERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 02:22 AM) The throw might have beaten him to the plate, but he was on the wrong (1B) side of the plate when he received the ball, instead of blocking it. Konerko was there a split-second faster with his foot. Yeah, it was a great slide. I loved it, I just can't believe poor Paulie can't make it to home when he's touching third base when the ball is at the wall. It was a great relay play, but wow. Not blasting Paulie, obviously, as he's my all time fave.

THAT'S A PEAVY WIN AND A WHITE SOX WINNERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
This is just an observation. Just watched the highlights of the Sox win today over Detroit. On AJ's shot to the corner, Paulie was touching third base as the rightfielder picked up the ball. Can you believe how slow Paulie is (or how amazing that relay was) for the throw to beat him to the plate? That's pretty crazy. Is that why they called it a triple instead of a double? That Paulie is so slow it was truly a 3B.

THAT'S A PEAVY WIN AND A WHITE SOX WINNERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
This is working out well. I've been too busy still to watch the games and Sox win, win win. It looks like I was wrong about Robin. The Sox appear to be enjoying the non-dysfunctional approach and do seem to be appreciating the game. Ah yes, it's still way too f***ing early to get excited, but very nice job, White Sox. Clean baseball and like somebody said 3-0 vs. the Central?? WOW. Now for the third straight game, I'm going to MLB.com to watch the highlights.

Interesting Stat for AJ
QUOTE (RME JICO @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 03:26 AM) Kark? Here are the others with 10 or more years with the Sox: Ron Karkovice 1986-1997 Ray Schalk 1912-1928 Mike Tresh 1938-1948 Billy Sullivan 1901-1914 I'm not a big Kark guy though he had a great arm.

Interesting Stat for AJ
AJ's putting together a pretty solid White Sox career. He's got to be in the top 3-5 catchers in Sox history by now, correct? 1.) Fisk. 2.) Sherm Lollar. 3.) AJP? 4.) JC Martin whom am I forgetting?

Kenny purged 2011 pieces just in time
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) So what? Your favorite pitcher in the whole wide world is a soft tosser. Mark? Yeah but Molina can only dream about having a career like Mark's.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) He's about as consistent as you can get now. He's really changed his approach since 2008. He only looks to hit with power in favorable counts, otherwise, he'll take you up the middle or to the opposite field and take what the pitcher gives him. Amen. I mean he's been doing this for what, 3-4 seasons?? Incredible baseball player.
