  1. I suppose I should have known better but I'm very disappointed. They weren't ready. How can you not be ready? How can you not want it?
  2. I hope the team feels the same way you do. That's just the way I'd want them to be, not nervous but ready as hell. The trouble is you never know which Sox team will show up on any given day. Hopefully they want it as much as we do. And yes, two out of three is the minimum acceptable at this point. Expect no favors from that pathetic team in Detroit. You know, the ones that beat us 8 times.
  3. Alvarez was clutch, Fernandez deserved a better fate and McDowell stunk.
  4. Exactly! Even losing 5 or 6 times to that team would have us in the drivers seat now, but to lose 8 times?
  5. Why does %#039; appear in some of the posts? I doubt that's what people typed.
  6. "Damn people." I guess I'm one of them. I keep asking who we have under contract among the new players this year. Most trades take time to evaluate unless they are so bad like the Ritchie or Koch deals. Who do the Sox sign and who do they let go? If we're just renting players like the 77 hitmen that has to be taken into consideration. I just think that if you look at all the moves KW has made, it is obvious there is room for improvement. I did give the guy credit for being aggressive. I do think he improved, but his start was so poor he almost had to improve. Another think I'm wondering, what are they going to do to the team after this year? Especially if they make the playoffs. Even more so if they -- gasp--win a series. That's win A series, not the series. All of these things are important to me before I'm ready to jump on the KW bandwagon.
  7. Yeah, it's obvious his terrible reputation is hurting the Sox. He can't seem to pull off a deal anymore! Other than R. Alomar, Everett, Colon, Koch, Marte, and Sullivan, he can't seem to trade for anybody! Have you noticed that practically all of KW's deals from "ShoulderGate" on have involved strictly our young, healthy, minor leaguers with possibly bright futures ahead of them? Or maybe it's just me. KW's mortgaging the minors because no GM wants a Sirotka-like acquisition from the Majors courtesy of KW. It isn't just you. KW has been active and aggressive but the bad out weighs the good. The Koch trade is every bit as bad, maybe worse than the deal for Ritchie. KW seems to laser in on a guy he wants without thinking things out. Then he usually overpays. I'm very suspicious about the Colon deal. I don't like or trust the Commish and I know MLB wants out of Montreal. I don't trust them not to sabotage the team so they have a stronger hand to move. Win or lose this year, I want to see who we sign and who we let go. Also, I agree we seem to have given up a lot of prospects for short term help. Another White Sox tradition.
  8. How many of these guys do the Sox have under contract for next year? How many of them are going to try to sign?
  9. Let's just say for the sake of argument that the Sox manage to "win" this weak division. How far do you think they'll go in the post season? This team is more than a few bricks shy of a load. They're my team and I root for them regardless, but I'm not going to ignore the obvious.
  10. Once upon a time almost every team had a four man rotation.
  11. There's no way to downplay this road trip. Like the talking heads on the sports networks say, it's huge. We let the momentum get away from us the last two games with Minny. I don't like that team, but I give them their props. They don't quit. Now its time for the Sox to show that they don't either.
  12. My Gawd what a complete lightweight! The time reading his drivel was time wasted.
  13. There was a time when the Trib was pretty even handed when it came to Chicagos two baseball teams but I'm not sure that is the case anymore. Locally and nationally its a sugary lovefest for the cubs. It's even worse among the casual non Chicago area sports fan. The White Sox aren't even on most folks radar screens. If they are mentioned its usually in a negative light. You know lousy ballpark, lousy neighborhood, umpires get attacked, etc. The best remedy would be for the Sox to actually win something before the Cubs do. If the opposite happens you might as well pack the moving vans.
  14. It could be a urinary tract infection, common and very treatable. If it is kidney stones don't panic. They're not fun, but often times can be removed without surgery. Make sure you make it that doctors appointment and good luck.
  15. I didn't see this when I posted something similar on another thread. Didn't want to come across as rude less than 10 posts in to this site.
  16. This is like a soap opera. In the words of the immortal philospher, I forget his name but I think he came from LA "Can't we all just get along?" We're baseballs premier underdogs and we're in first place. I don't want to jinx anything but this could be an October to remember. to the Sox! I hope the team becomes more important than personal feuds. I found Colon to be disappointing and yes he does seem to pout. He's coming along at the right time. If he wants that big contract bargaining wedge then its time to pour it on. I hope he does. PK was worse than awful for a long time. I don't know why. Now he's back and that makes it harder to pitch around anybody in the Sox lineup. Who ya gonna pitch around now? Pick your poison. I like that. Now its MB's turn, another guy who disappointed me early. You know there's talent on this team. If everybody is clicking and playing up to potential the sky's the limit. 1917? 1959? Ancient history. Time to rewrite history. Starting now.
  17. The cubs are the cubs so I'm not ready to give them their props. Like the poster pointed out the Pirates and Reds have been tough on them over the years. This year however the Pirates gave the cubs half of their team. Why weren't those trades reviewed by the commissioner.? In any case, the Sox are my team but I think this time the north siders are going to be up there for quite a while. That may get me flamed, but that's the way I see it. The last all Chicago World Series was almost a century ago. Why not now? Why not us beating them again? It would be the best thing in the world for the Sox franchise.
  18. I think we have a pretty good idea why.
  19. If someone finds this depressing, I don't think watching the Bears would be a good alternative. Seriously. That looks to be one bad football team. About the play. I was screaming at Kimm to hold him. A 3b coach has to make a split second decision, but that ball was sharply hit and Ramirez got to it quickly, in time for Kimm to see it, react and put the brakes on Rowand. Of course Willie Harris was coming up and he can't hit a lick. Those who criticize Ramirez, I hear you but he got there quickly and Kimm had time to see it and put the stop sign on. Also Nomar is good on relays. It was a great game. We lost a battle. Still time to get hot and take some momentum into October. Like I said before, peaking at the right time is the thing in sports today, not necessarily having the best W-L record in the regular season.
  20. In todays sports world getting hot at the right time is more important than having a great regular season. Like the 87 Twins. 1917 was a long time ago. This team just needs to get some momentum going into the playoffs. None of the other contending teams looks unbeatable to me. I think the Sox can do it.
  21. LOL! I wasn't sure anybody would "catch" on, but you sure did. to you and thanks.
  22. Colon pitched great last night, the White Sox just forgot to hit. He's been inconisitent this year but seems to be turning it on at the right time. I'm surprised race was injected here. White Sox fans have taken to Latin players since the days of Chico Carrasquel. Don't expect to go very far into October if both Buerhle and Bart aren't at the top of their game. Everybody, the fans, players and management should be so greatful to Estaban Loiaza. He's more than made up for the other starters troubles on the mound. He's far and away the team MVP in my book. Tough loss last night but the opportunity is still there.
