Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
You're not wrong. Having lived in Japan for some 5 years and taken in several games as well as having made personal contact with many Japanese fans, I can say that the Japanese players are very well grounded in game-play fundamentals. Whether or not they pan out as ML batters, almost all the Nippon guys play their field position very well when coming over to the States. p.s Played against the Japanese teams in fast pitch softball - they field well at that level too. LOL

But do you trade them both for 3-5 years of an extended Manaea?

Almost all of the FG projections (excepting ZiPS), have 2022 Pollock PA above the numbers he put in each of the three seasons as a Dawjah. I'm not sure what they're basing the projections on. 2019-PA 342 2020-PA-210 2021-PA-422 AJ Pollock Injuries 2018-2021 (From FoxSports) 09/04/2021 Hamstring 10-Day Injured List 08/20/2021 Back Day-To-Day 05/14/2021 Hamstring 10-Day Injured List 05/07/2021 Hamstring Day-To-Day 09/27/2019 Knee Day-To-Day 08/05/2019 Groin Day-To-Day 04/30/2019 Elbow 60-Day Injured List 05/15/2018 Fractured Left Thumb 10-Day Injured List 04/20/2018 Right Hand Day-To-Day

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
I'd argue he's not worth $8M now and this is pretty much what the rest of MLB is signaling to the Sox.

Molson Coors new Sox domestic beer partner
Coffee used to suck in America too. Today I can buy a buy a bag of Dunkin' beans and drink java with the best of 'em. Well, maybe not at the Sumatra/Kona etc level, but pretty damn good.

Whatever happened to Old Style?

I can't imagine that Milwaukeeans are too crazy about the way the whole thing has shaken out.

Molson Coors new Sox domestic beer partner
At the top corporate level they changed the name to Molson Coors Brewing sometime around 2020, removing the Miller name altogether at the top level while maintaining the Miller brand and assets at lower levels.

I was starting to wonder if I was blackballed or something.

OF Help at last!! White Sox acquire Haseley from Phils
This is grist for another thread entirely. One that could go on for months. Comments made by the organization over the past 10-12 years re: this subject are often outright delusional. Clinically delusional at that.

Rutherford replacement. This guy has better upside anyway.

Killians isn't a half bad little session beer. At least a solid step up from main-name beer flavored water.

Vaughn has a hip pointer injury, out 1-2 weeks
Since they brought him in, I've wondered how much Baker has to say about the nuts and bolts of running the Astros in game.

Vaughn has a hip pointer injury, out 1-2 weeks
Maybe, probably not. In TLR's early years, he was known as a progressive young lion. Using then-advanced approaches to the game, he wasn't of the seat-of-your-pants, school of hard knocks kind of managers. These days, I wonder if he even knows what a metric such as wRC+ is. From the looks of it, he doesn't have much of a handle on even using spray charts effectively. He did an effective job juggling the lineup and positions last year, but it's clear he's no longer in sync with modern managerial methods and processes. A tougher division and possible drop off in SP quality could put him to a greater test than that of losing Pantera and Eloy last year.

2nd base is getting moved
Whiteyball here we come! Who knows, Billy Hamilton might lead the league in inside-the-park HRs.

I just scrolled up and read both your and his posts- ok I see. DOH. But from reading Gio and his Dad's remarks, they're not especially enamored of an extension at this point anyway.

I'm thinking a supplemental pick end of 2nd-3rd round.

I don't keep up with the ins and outs of contract negotiations as many on this board do. According to Sportrac, unless he signs an extension, Gio is an UFA as of the 2024 season. Age (29-30). What am I missing?

Or not - if one side or the other decides to shorten the CBA time frame and not go with the owner's initial proposal. The owners themselves could back out of that. Assuming no QO or reasonable compensation, it would make sense to consider a trade for Gio.

There's always the QO. Wait --- the Rodon thing... I'm so confused.

Every time you roll the dice, the odds are the same. Just sayin'.

The Sox have a lot of making up to do with Gio. Over almost nothing at that.
