QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) Farns was actually real good last year. That is a lot of money though and I dont think NY is the place for him. He blew the most important game of the season for the Braves in Houston. I think he gave up like 5 runs. (actually 3 and 2 HRs) Imagine how bad he will meltdown in the NY spotlight.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Sorry I meant a nickel. It's pretty bad when your best professional moment is a spear of Paul Wilson.

Can I say it again...

If those are the figures.... MUAHAHHAHAHHAHHA Hilarious. This guy is not worth 10 cents.

I'd love to see a Konerko deal, but the Sox are going to have to match the highest offer in order to keep him. I just don't see any type of discount happening. Go ahead with the 5/65 offer, JR. Get it done.

I hope this isn't a serious question.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) It's the day retailers get into the black for the year. Many retail stores are losing money YTD, and need a busy Christmas season to turn a profit for the year. Where I work its called Green Friday. The not turning a profit the rest of the year doesn't apply.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Right, like I said I understood where you were coming from with that idea. I just think you'll see Paul-Thome in some order in the 3-4 spots. However, Paul isn't exactly the normal number 3 hitter and Ozzie does love splitting up the righties in the middle of his order when he has the chance to. I'll be looking forward to your question at Soxfest...but will you actually ask this one unlike the Reed question you were supposed to ask last year? I couldn't hammer Kenny in front of all of his supporters last year. 2004 fest everyone hated him, this past year everyone loved KW. My main complaint this year will be losing Rooney.

QUOTE(timotime @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) giles is currently talking to cleveland about playing in RF (according to tom dorr on the score). THERE IS NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER OF SIGNING GILES. aboz is right...how about just resigning kong? I have also heard Atlanta is a strong possibility now that they have freed up money from Chipper's deal being reworked and also the fact that he wants to play alongside Marcus. Of course Atlanta is still trying to keep Furcal which I don't see happening.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) If we don't add Pierre or another player like Juan, Gooch is still going to hit 2nd. Also, I know why you put Pauly in the 5 hole but I don't see him batting 5th. You could flip him and Dye but I think at this point I want Dye hitting 3rd. He will get much better pitches to hit with Thome and Konerko behind him. I expect a huge year from Jermaine next year. I'm talking 35 hr and 100 RBI. Also gives us a Right-Left-Right-Left combo is why I put Kong 5th. He may or may not hit in that spot. Who knows. Something to ask ozzie at soxfest

QUOTE(VAfan @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) (Frankly, I don't think Brian Anderson is ever going to be better than a 4th or 5th outfielder.) This my friends, is laughable. He'll be the White Sox centerfielder next season. Get ready. here is next year's lineup Pods Iguchi Dye Thome Konerko AJ Crede Anderson Uribe You could possibly see Uribe in the 2 hole if he showed any discipline, I just don't see it happening. All the talk about moving Iguchi down is nice and all, but for how great he was in that spot this past season, I just don't see why you would. If it's not broken, no reason to fix it.
-
Uh, how about just resigning Konerko? Forget Giles, this will never happen. He has narrowed his list to around five teams and the Sox are not on there. Sox don't have any interest anyhow. Giles is older than Dye and Dye is cheaper. You have to keep Dye as long as he wants to stay on the Sox. They will also put up similar numbers going forward. Despite his horrible start, Dye was able to hit 30 HR, hit .274 and drive in 85 runs. I expect similar if not better numbers last year. Pods, Anderson and Dye in the outfield next yr. If Anderson doesn't do well next yr, Young will take over in 2007. If he does well, Anderson moves to LF and Pods will not be on the Sox in 2007. Also Frank is done in a Sox uniform. Nice pipedream though.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) Pods isn't going to be in centerfield. THank you, BA will get first shot.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 07:26 AM) How did the White Sox not give him respect? He is probably referring to the Lofton signing a few years back when Aaron should have had the CF job yet the Sox signed Lofton because they thought he wasn't ready.

Can you guys tell me about Gonzalez and Haigwood?

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) First, let me just say this: I'm awful with my minor leaguers. But I thought Haigwood was our crap knuckleballer? Or am I confusing my people here? Haeger is the knuckleballer. Haigwood is easily a top 10 prospect, maybe top 5 after last year. -
White Sox acquire Jim Thome per ESPNnews

I am still holding out for a Rowand Soxfest appearance. Just want to shake his hand one last time and say thanks for letting me watch him the past few years. It truly was a pleasure to all of us to watch a class act like Rowand both on the field with his spectacular defense and clutch hits and off the field just acting like one of the guys and treating the fans like he was on the same level with all of us. I will never forget a few years ago when Aaron went yard against the Cubs at the Cell and held his first high in the air as the Sox won the game. Seeing that play and the look on his face still sends a shiver down my spine. His plays against the Yankees in the OF this past season in Yankee Stadium were truly special to watch. Thank you Aaron for the memories. As a life long Sox fan, I will never forget you and your importance in bringing a championship to Chicago. And thanks for how you treated me and other Sox fans over the years at Soxfest. You were easily the most approachable and friendly guy with the club and we will all miss you. Best of luck in Philly and I for one will still follow you and your career closely. -

Great game, we desperately need to get Trannon back. Overall I think we will be fine once we add him to the rotation. -
Besides Buehrle, he is the last player I'd want the Sox to trade. I hope to hell we keep A-Row.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) The show blows hard but Kristin > LC and I am prepared to physically fight over that with anyone. If you don't feel inclined to put me in the Chat Crew, well, that's messed up. I led that b**** most of the year my friend.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) He was on his honeymoon.. which was planned BEFORE he even signed with the Sox. Then don't list him on the official program for Soxfest and the website promoting he will be there. I could see the program being printed up far in advance, but the website can be changed. If he knew so far ahead of time, why was he even on the list? Bottom line, if the Sox knew he wasn't going to be there, don't promote him being there.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) He'd be a good candidate. When did he leave the Yankees? I know he went from ESPN to NY. I never knew he was in LA. From what I understand, Farmer is implanted as PBP, I don't see Steiner taking less money to leave LA to go to the White Sox. The Mets could offer him a better deal though. As far as Steiner goes, this last season was his first with the Dodgers.

I could see us non-tendering Gload. He's not that useful. Dye will be the opening day first baseman before Gload would be.
