QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Hidecki Matsui getting 4 years 52 million made Konerko's asking price "reasonable" for the market. Its overpaying for Konerko, but it isn't insane with what the market seems to be. Hideki Matsui's numbers aren't 23 million less worthy than Konerko. He is the same age as Kong and the guy puts up some damn good numbers. 100 RBI his first three seasons, 34 doubles every year and a good average. Hell in a sense I think Matsui could put up similar numbers to Kong (except for HR) for the foreseeable future. They are worth just about the same IMO. If he wants 75 million, later dude, thanks for the memories.

Time to turn up the hot stove for Thome.

I'm going to go a step further in this discussion and list 5 different tiers of where I think teams stand in regards to being able to sign free agents. Tier 1 - Elite Destinations, players want to go to these clubs for a variety of reasons, mainly for the big market, the endorsement opportunities, the money these teams can offer, etc. Winning helps too but is not always essential. This is reserved for prime time. Tier 2 - A step below Tier 1 simply due to the fact that these clubs don't have as much cash to spend on their teams, the market may not be as large and the chances of winning and endorsements could be less as well. Tier 3 - Not ideal places to play, but players will go if the money is right. There are limited endorsement opportunities unless you are "the guy," these teams don't have a history of winning big (at least WS rings) Tier 4 - Any team that doesn't fit the description of tiers 1-3 or the tier listed below. These teams usually get the fringe FA types and you usually won't find them near the playoffs on a consistent basis (exception is the Twins). Moderate payrolls as well. Tier 5 - Are you f***ing kidding me? Why would I want to play there? Enough said. ---------------------- Tier 1 - Yankees, Red Sox Tier 2 - Orioles, Angels, Cardinals, Cubs, Mets, Dodgers, Mariners Tier 3 - White Sox, Indians, Braves, Rangers, Phillies, Marlins, Astros, Padres, Giants, Tigers, Athletics, Diamondbacks Tier 4 - Nationals, Brewers, Blue Jays, Twins, Reds Tier 5 - Devil Rays, Pirates, Royals, Rockies

It's pretty sad that next year I may find myself watching many Sox games on mute while listening to John Rooney call Cardinals games dreaming he was still with the Sox. Way to f*** up a good thing, 670. I'll have no part of you.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) LMAO Boz.. BTW.. I sent you a message yesterday. I missed your calls..?? What's up? I wanted to talk to you about Dolgin, but you never answer your phone. Loser

I use it to find Nambla meetings in the Louisville metro area.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) You obviously didn't attend my high school. Maybe its just a Socal thing though, I've been surrounded by good looking girls my entire life. Guess not, care to explain why I've never seen you with one? Glad to hear from your earlier post that we can go on a sightseeing tour of Laguna Beach. Some points of interest for me: 1) The Surf Shop 2) LC's preschool 3) The field where jason played little league I'm sure to think of some others lol.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) maybe its just my high school, but i'd imagine a lot of high schools are like Laguna Beach with its alcohol induced drama slash hormone induced hooking up. It's a shame that the nerds on Laguna Beach are now celebrities, when if you follow any group of people in high school now-a-days you'd probably have the same stuff occurring. oh well, i guess i'll have to get famous another way, ha. Most high schools, at least the ones I've seen in my day, don't have girls near the caliber of what this show had. I mean Kristin is near a 10, LC is a solid 9, Jessica is a solid 9, the list goes on. I invite anyone to tell me they went to HS with girls like that (at least that many that were that hot). The other stuff, maybe, yes you find at other schools. Girls like that, hell no.
-
Well this guarantees a bigger deal for Kong.
-
As far as the new LB goes, I may or may not watch it. If it doesn't have any of the originals, probably not. I may watch that show with LC on it to see if its any good, but it kinda looks stupid IMO. I think Laguna Beach was probably at its best when it first came out and with the original cast like LC, Kristin, Stephen, Talan, Dieter, Lo, etc. I thought this season was good, just not as good as the first.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) Not a clue. Only reason I know anything is because my buddy used to work at the same surf shop that Stephen worked. Went to one shin dig where they were at and like I told you Stephen came off as a pretty chill nice person, but Kristen was all b****o (good looking, but not near as hot as she looks on TV). Check this out:

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) Not true. It is scripted a bit and overly dramatized though. If I come visit you, can we go to Laguna so I can "soak it all in"?
-
No shame in watching Laguna. The girls are hot, what else is there to say.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) I'd rather have Carl over Mike...no question. I'd rather have neither.

Anyone have any ideas as to what kind of contract Piazza would be looking for?
