  1. I'd like to see Overbay looked at, regardless of whether or not we keep PK. If we keep Konerko, I'd consider Overbay as a full-time DH and someone who can also play 1B and give Konerko a few starts at DH.
  2. All I can say is I surely hope it wasn't steroids again. This guy is too talented to be messing around with that anymore. If anyone gets any news, let us all know ASAP.
  3. He will start the year in AAA I think but he is somewhat down the depth chart at the OF position. Like Rex said, he could benefit from another year at Birmingham, but I think the Sox send him to Charlotte. Young and Anderson are clearly ahead. I like his potential, then again I like Chris Young's potential more. Anderson is better in the field and a more polished piece at the plate currently. To me its not far fetched to see a Sox OF in 2007 of: Anderson in LF, Young in CF and Rowand in RF, with Sweeney on the outside looking in. Depth at the OF position is great for the organization, but it could end up being a problem for Sweeney in the long run. As far as his development goes, it seems as though he always plays through nagging injuries, which I love to see in a young guy. It'd be interesting to see what he could do if he put together a full season where he was 100% all year. I think he has good power potential at the ML level, but he has yet to show it in the minors. Playing in Charlotte next year I think you'll see the power numbers increase. As far as athleticism goes, he is right up there with anyone in the organization and that folks, is just something you can't teach. I like Sweeney as a prospect, I just wonder if he'll ever be a regular for the Sox with some of the talent ahead of him.
  4. It's time to celebrate Soxtalk!!!!!!!!!! And it couldn't have happened to two nicer people. Congrats and a Happy Birthday to Miss Madison.
  5. Southsider looks up, it's a boy, you CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Just kidding, keep us posted.
  6. So far, here's who we got for Cincy. I am expecting a tailgate and nothing else: Gage himself (aka the legend) Boz Steff & Jim YAS JIM H Hopefully SS2k, Mrs. 2k and little 2k RibbieRubarb
  7. Making this the official Konerko thread, so that we don't have to see a new thread about him everyday.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Yeah, I am already covered as PA is my personal b****. Gage is mine.
  9. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) I just realized the 'Official MLB DVD' is only 60 mins. long and $19.99. Surely it sux every ass. 13.99 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AXWX6...&s=dvd&v=glance
  10. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Haven't Giles' numbers dropped since steroid testing began? Do we even need to go here? He's playing San Diego. It's hard to put up numbers there. In the Cell he'd hit 30 HR easily and I think he could hit 40.
  11. If he does leave, thanks for the memories Paulie. I sure love ya.
  12. On the open market, Buehrle would command at least $11 million a season, maybe more due to his reliability, solid K's, and the fact that he always keeps his team in the game. I was talking to a friend who is a Braves fan the other day and I think both of us agreed that there are not more than 5 pitchers in the GAME today that we'd rather have than Mark, Sox fan or no Sox fan. He is just that good.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Us also. Awesome, that's like 70 miles from me and I'll definitely be at all 3 games. Gage is coming also. Perhaps we could all get tickets together? That would be a blast.
  14. I believe the California Kid will be FA eligible after next season. If he isn't signed this offseason, he will be shopped during the course of next season or even during this offseason. I'd like to see a 3 year, 21 million dollar deal for Garland with an option for a 4th year at $8 million.
  15. Just ordered it. Estimates a delivery date of December 2nd. Not bad, with shipping, tax included it was 17.99 Cheaper than MLB's regular price, not including shipping or tax.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) Admit it, you should be more modest. Just wait until the tailgate video comes out. Yea, the one where we conspired to get rid of Vinc....wait I can't say his name.
  17. Is the Trib book even on Amazon? I don't see it.
  18. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AXWX6...&s=dvd&v=glance Cheaper here than MLB.com
  19. QUOTE(ChiTown3 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) Any Sox fans reading the board right now that wouldn't mind if I gave them a call to ask them a few quick questions (it would only take 5 min. max) about media coverage of the Sox for a story I'm doing for a journalism class? If so, reply to this post with a number where I can reach you, or give me your email or something. Thanks!! I'll answer any questions, via PM.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) Steff, as always . . . I've already gotten a lot more than her autograph. Just ask Jason.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) How old do you think Contreras really is? There is no way he's anywhere near the 32 that is on his baseball card. But I agree, with the others. I would say around 34-35, I'd still give him a 3 year deal. Hell we gave El Duque a contract and he is 57.
  22. Who becomes the hot autograph at the fest if PK is gone?
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) He didn't f*** anyone. Peter wanted him, Peter called him, Peter pursued him, and Peter got him. They came out of the cloud before the 04 season, and insurance was paying 70+% of the contract anyway. Exactly, the player never f***s anyone. They don't force a team to sign or offer a deal. The team is responsible for the contract, not the player.
