Wonder if this is just in Chicago or would this be everywhere? -
John Rooney - New Cards Radio Announcer

QUOTE(palehose23 @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Hey before you speak about something that you don't know about get the facts right- I told everybody at the end of the regular season that Rooney cut off negotiations so he could go over to his beloved Cardinals. The Score had nothing to do with that. He left the Sox so you should be mad at him I'm a helluva lot closer to the situation than you will ever be my friend. Several on the board can vouch for that. Perhaps YOU, not me, should follow your advice. Now, as you were. -

From the Tribune: The cheap ass Score wouldn't come close to that figure and I bet they weren't even within 150K of that. In fact I'm pretty sure of it. Thanks to them we will have to live with a sub-par announcing crew for the foreseeable future. You either pay the best or they leave. It's that simple. I encourage everyone to contact the radio station and let them know how disappointing it is to lose the best announcer in baseball to another team. It's embarassing, considering we just won the World Series. -
QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) Steff- Were you in debate in HS? She's not losing this one, that's for damn sure.

Great day for Rooney professionally, sad day for Sox Rooney fans. What can you say, this guy is the best there is without a doubt. It's horrible to see him leave the Sox (officially) but he's always wanted to work for the Cardinals. Some of us were still holding out hope he would return to the Sox, even as unrealistic as it was. Congrats to Roons, he definitely deserves this and now I'll be tuning in to select Cardinal games on XM to catch him calling the games. -
Is there a pic available of this woman?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) Hey - I have some cover letters somewhere that I've used... I could try to dig them up if you'd like. Is this someone that you have never been in contact with? Yeap, some lady who works in pharmacy sales saw me at my mom's school (I guess she is a parent of one of her students) told me I should get her a resume and that as long as I can put a suit on they can train me. Mom already showed the lady the resume and she thinks its great but I need to do a cover letter. It's not really something I'm very interested in, but I would at least like to put together a resume and cover letter and go through the interview process for the experience. Who knows what I would do if I got considered for the position. Anything you got would be good cause I am clueless when it comes to this stuff.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) LMAO... I just emailed you. Wait till you read the line about the little girls. Got it, thanks a bunch. Can I start calling you Aunt Steff? I'll reply when I get a chance, I am about to head off to work shortly.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Having set on a few employees in my time,I'd suggest keeping it short and to the point, do not waffle. Depending on how you look a small recent photo may help you stand out from the crowd. I'm a stud, so that's no problem. Just as Steff or hell even Nambla member Jason.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) LMAO.. Nuke's letter.. TWIMC... I'd like to work for you. I like to blow s*** up. First, do some research on the company. These days it's easy to find a companies plan - mission statement - to see if you fit. Then focus on your skills, what you bring to the table, your asset to the position, etc.. Briefly touch on your exp (refer to your attached resume, i.e.. as you can see from my attached resume I have extensive experience in this, this, and this, and feel with those skills would be an asset to your organization by... doing this, that and the other, etc..). Good to also have a objective detailed. Also, I am working on a response to your previous questions. For some reason I'm busy with work today.. LOL. I'll probably read it sometime tonight then, I am leaving for work in about a hour or so. Thanks for the info though.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) Was this ever actually proven? I'd love to have him on the team regardless. http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2003/0501/1547624.html Charges were later dropped. And no, someone who puts themself in a position like this I don't want on our team. Let him rot in Tampa.

Hello, SS2k, Steff, Kap, anyone? Hell even Nuke would work at this point.

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) Lugo... defensive downgrade from Uribe, plays 2B, SS. Hit .295 last year with 39 sbs. His name has recently popped up in a couple rumors (non Sox-related). Lugo, wife beater, no thanks.

Anyone have any advice for a cover letter or what makes a good cover letter, formatting, etc? Especially if you don't know a lot about the company.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) I assume this will be on the Xbox 360 (doesn't that come out pretty soon??). Im guessing it will be on both systems. Im sticking with the Xbox for now I think.

QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) the stat that my advisor loves to throw in his emails : after 5 years, something like 75% of graduates are doing something completely unrelated to their major. Like myself, which I am going back to grad school next summer for something completely unrelated to my major, which is political science.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) Absolutely positively agree 100%. Hey I got a question for you, gonna send it via PM if you have a few its a bit complicated.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Hm.. maybe I should offer Joe some lessons. Hey, anyone who can go yard off Escobar in a tough spot like that and then got it started off Oswalt in the Series I am going to defend. There is no way we can trade this guy unless Boras is completely outrageous in his demands.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) You know my feelings on Konerko... so I can not comment. At least you are consistent.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) Just about. '03 - 4 bad, 1 good, 1 meh '04 - 4 bad, 2 good '05 - 2 bad, 4 good He's improving. And he is also one of the top 3B defensively in the AL. He is top 3.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) For the second time.. I agree. But the $$ Boras is going to want for him.. I don't think 6 weeks of production is worth it. What about the two months this season where Konerko royally sucked? Look at his numbers in April and May. They were god awful. Also, what happened in 2003? People want to pay him 14 million? For a guy who hasn't sniffed .300 since 2002? I mean look at it, Crede came up just as big as Konerko during the playoffs.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Joe Crede 2005: Apri - .304/.368/.456/.824 : 2HR May - .155/.211/.286/.496 : 3HR June - .275/.333/.538/.871 : 6HR July - .304/.342/.551/.893 : 4HR Aug - .103/.148/.172/.320 : 1HR Sept - .379/.419/.759/1.178 : 6HR 2 bad months And he was hurt in August. May was terrible. That was it.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Joe did an amazing job.. I'm not taking anything away from him at all. But I'd be a lot more hesitant to let him go if A. he was more consistant, and B. Boras wasn't his agent. No doubt they had a great time... but memories don't pay the bills. Career in September: .321, 17 HR, 67 RBI, .902 OPS, 26 doubles. Say what you want about Crede, but he is clutch in September and his playoff numbers were outstanding this year. Without him, we don't win the series IMO.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Will you feel the same way if he is cracks the bat at a .240 clip at around July of next year. He is the most hot and cold hitter on our team. When he is hot he is great, but then when he goes cold you might as well send a cardboard cutout of Joe up to hit for him. Thank god for us his hot period was during the playoffs. Look at his career numbers in September. He is the best hitter we have in that month. This year he extended that into October. Everyone has a bad month or two, it just so happens that Crede starts slow and then explodes towards the end of the year. I would rather have that than someone who starts fast then bails on you when it counts most down the stretch.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) If Boras demands some crazy s*** and Crede validates him... I have no problem showing Joe the door. I guess, but I don't trade a guy who was basically the MVP of the playoffs before the season. If you get a sense during the season you won't get a deal with him, then maybe you move him. Also I think Crede will do his best to stay, he looks like one of the guys who is having the most fun along with Rowand, AJ, Mark and others.
