  1. QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Hard to gauge next year's Jndjan team. If Millwood is gone, that's a pretty big loss. They'll have to sign a good starter if they lose him. I think they'll re-sign him, though. Their payroll is way low. I love the Sox, but damn the Jndjans are going to be tough competition next year. Hopefully their bullpen - populated by a bunch of old guys - falls apart. Howry is also a FA and was a huge part of their pen.
  2. QUOTE(joeynach @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) If we dont resign Paulie we need another 1st baseman, a younger one, preferabily a lefty. If Frank DH's and we replace Paulie with Chad Tracy, Shea Hillenbrand, or Lyle Overbay Id be pretty happy. I dont want to become the Yanks here with a bunch of aging hitter that did great things for us in the past. If we dont resign either I still want at least one of the above mentioned players, but to fill two starting positions in the offseason kinda sucks. I dont want our lineup to be Frank and Paulie less and replaced with Andersen/other call up. I think we are trying to build on championship here, we need some young established players as well, I mean like an Aubry Huff or Overbay, not Andersen/Borchard. If we don't resign Paulie, I'll be advocating a trade for Ryan Howard.
  3. Fine by me, steroids have no place in baseball. 2 years is a good starting point.
  4. I knew something would get accomplished in that secret meeting.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) I would have to think that would be the plan. Im not sure how happy that is going to make Frank, being placed on the back burner, but o well. #1: Kong #2:Trade Partner #3:Frank #1 Kong #2 Trade Partner (Tracey) #3 Another Trade Partner (Overbay) #4 Minor League Prospects #5 Another Trade Partner (Ryan Howard) #6 Carl Everett for cheap #7 Sammy Sosa #8 Gload at DH #9 Rogowski #10 Big Frank lol
  6. U of Kentucky - Positives: Very nice city (Lexington), good college sports except Football; stellar academics depending on what type of program you are looking for. Don't know much about the music scence. Also, MASSES of hot girls, which won't apply much to you. Negatives: Bars close way too early (1am). Not the best location for a campus IMO.
  7. I say, wait and see what happens with Konerko and other FAs on the market, then make a decision on Frank.
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) I probably am in the minority on this one, but I think that if we just stood pat except for putting someone else in the DH hole other than Everett...our offense will improve next year just from people not having terrible years. Rowands numbers were way down from 2004 and we can discuss til we're blue in the face which one is the outlier, but either way, if someone spends some time working on his swing in the offseason, he can be vastly better. Joe Crede just needs to shorten the slumps and he'll hit .280 with 30 home runs. Uribe was disappointing for most of last year. If someone ever sits down with him and teaches him to hit, watch out. We all know what he can do for an offense. Iguchi will be in his 2nd year against ML pitching, so he'll know the pitchers a lot better going into the season. This can only help him. And A.J. Pierzynski, a career .287 hitter, hit .257 last year, with his worst OPS and BA since he played more than 10 games in a season. If we hold onto Konerko and he continues to produce, and we can keep a level amount of production from Dye and Podsednik, this team could be far better with the bats than last year. Each of these guys has significant room for improvement, and in fact should be doing a lot better than they did last year. And that doesn't count my dream of seeing a very very tall man in the 3 hole again next year. Oh and by the way...if Konerko could manage to pull a Derek Lee and avoid getting off to a horrible start to the season next year...he could even put up MVP type numbers. From June 1 on, he hit .312, not counting playoffs. His OPS was up over 1.000 in both August and September. These are all good points. Then again we didn't have any major injuries this season, unless you count Frank. Everything went our way this past season, which is not likely to happen again. Sure, people can improve. But they can also get hurt OR get worse.
  9. Thanks for the list, posted my list for you. Great site, by the way, hadn't had the chance to look at it much before.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) Uhhh.. I didn't get a chance to look. You're killing me smalls!
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) SNB wrote a nice synopsis of the event the night of the epic 14 inning game. Let me see if I can find it. DId you ever find it?
  12. Jason Giambi? Sportsman of the year? Are you f***ing kidding me? SI is a complete joke.

    Secret Session

    ?????????????????
  14. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) Correct me if I am wrong, but the Ozzie plan is a savings of $1 per ticket...right? So in th end, I save 13 dollars, but am atleast going to see one Sox/Cubs game and one game of each post-season (if I choose to buy). Right? Series tix are NOT included. Correct there, the Sox/Cubs game alone is worth it.
  15. I think it'd be fun to put him in the middle of a circle of Sox fans and slap him around a bit.
  16. Someone should send him a link to this thread.
  17. What an idiot. Looks like he's never gotten any either. A lot nice reply than I would have given, nice work. HE GONE!
  18. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) She's not so great. There are plenty who are much better. So what if she's the heir to one of the largest hotel chains in the world? She's a tramp. That's pretty obvious. Urlacher was smart to dump her. I wouldn't kick her out of bed. Surprised at anybody who would.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) LMAO.. As long as that is alright with Jim, of course...
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) cough*commonsense*cough. I'm trying to get them used to common sense. Repetition, repetition, repetition.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) I heard they are altering the 27 gamers also. I'm definitely getting the Ozzie plan and then for the other games I plan on bumming a ticket off of Steff. Actually, I'll work for the tickets, if you know what I mean....
  22. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Why does everybody think that Konerko all he cares about is money. I think if the offers are pretty close he would accept the Sox offer. Why would anyone in their right mind take less money. It would be a stupid business move and he would also greatly annoy the players union. The Sox will either fork over the cash or he will leave.
  23. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) But will there be a Minnie plan? Haven't seen it on whitesox.com, so I'm going to say no.
  24. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) :banghead :banghead :banghead This will be a common theme during the offseason.
  25. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) Why do you bother to post common sense... Good question, because 85% of the time people can't understand it.
